InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Scottish Deceit ❯ Chapter 9
"Shippo I have to keep ye safe from any harm ye are after all-" She paused as she leaned in to kiss his forehead. "-the only thing I have left in this cruel world."
When the boy did not, but shift in her arms in his sleepy state Ayame sighed. "Sweet dreams little brother."
Nudging the horse to pick up pace a bit Ayame felt a wave of relief when they came to a clearing within the woods. "I wonder if were close to any keeps or village's yet." She murmured aloud to herself.
As they continued to ride Ayame pulled the cloak closer around her concealing her features under its heavy darkness. The silence began to become unbearable for her it was and eerie almost frightening.
The horse halted once they reached the clearing, as it too was weary of what lied beyond. "Hullo!" She cried out gruffly in poor English disguising her normal very husky yet feminine voice. "Mightn't there be anyone about out yonder?"
When all she heard was a faint rustling she just assumed it was a rabbit or something, and continued on a little ways until a voice rang out rather deep masculine voice, and it seemed to be ricocheting throughout the trees because for the life of her she couldn't pinpoint where it came from.
"Are ye friend or are ye foe?" The voice asked.
Ayame kept up her phony accent and continued to speak like an illiterate mon. "I be friend, I ain't lookin' fer no troubles just a little shelter from the cold fer meself and the bairn."
It seemed like hours before the voice sounded again. "Do ye have any weapons on ye traveler?" The voice asked.
"Aye, that I do." Ayame paused to remove her weapons and pitch them to the ground at the horse's feet. "Ye'd have tae be a fool to travel weaponless on these roads nowadays."
"Is there no weapons on the lad?" The voice asked again. "Aye, there is a dagger but I have removed it too."
Ayame held her breath as she as nearly a dozen men materialized from the trees, but the one who captured and held her attention was the mon who stood in front off them all, he was obviously their leader.
His eyes were an odd mixture of gray and brown they were so cold that it made her involuntarily shiver. Good thing the cloak engulfed her body so it went unnoticed.
Kouga felt an odd mixture of curiousity and apprehension as he continued to stare at the cloak figures setting astride the beautiful brown mare. He didn't like that they, as in the figures, could see their faces, and they, as in his group could not see theirs. But he put his problems aside and offered them shelter regardless.
"Come. Follow me." He heard himself saying. "My Keep is just past this clearing on over that slope."
Ayame nodded and followed the beautiful man and his men through the trees where a few men and horse stood waiting. She watched and waited as the men prepared for the ride back as she was looking around another man caught her attention. He too was beautiful, but something about him tugged at her memory strings something that was now in the past, something significant.
Deciding to put her thoughts away for now she focused once more on the group waiting for the signal for them to move out.
Looking down at her brother she concocted a plan that would hopefully work that way if someone came looking for them the descriptions they gave wouldn't match up with them.
Pressing a kiss to his forehead one again Ayame felt a need to see to his safety even if it was the last thing she did.

"So Hojo have you decided on wot yer going to do about getting my daughter away from that MacEnroy scum?"
"Aye I have thought long and verra hard on our situation." Hojo admitted as he took a drink of his ale that one of the maids had brought him. "Verra."
Angus Murray was beginning to lose his patience with the young outlaw he had made and alliance with many years ago. "And well what have ye come up with?"
"That is for me to know and for you to find out." He said. "All you need to know is that I have someone on the inside."
Angus grimaced. "No harm will come to my daughter will it?"
"Not as long as you keep up your end of the deal and she becomes my bride as promised."
"You have no qualms with the fact that she has been bedded." Murray asked. "At this point in time she's more than likely been well used."
Hojo shrugged a cold smiled curving his features. "It just means there will be a few less things that I will have to teach her."

"Why did you take me away from the Convent?" She asked again when Inuyasha failed to reply.
"For reason's I doubt you'll believe." He said as he himself took a seat.
"Try me." Kagome demanded.
Inuyasha sat quietly for sometime before he actually thought of an answer. "At first you were just a means to an end, but-."
"A means to an end!" She blurted cutting him off.
"Hush!" He said in a dangerously low tone. "If ye ever want to hear the whole story and the truth of it I suggest ye listen instead of interrupting."
Kagome nodded. "Then by all means continue."
"I'm glad to know that I have yer permisson." He replied snidely. "I guess this story goes back at least 10 years ago..."

I know there are a few people who would more than likely like to skin my alive because of my lack of updates. I' am truly and heartily sorry but due to my poor time management skills and school I haven't been very attentive to something I once considered a passion and a daily outlet and that is my writings.
SO hopefully things will return to normally and everyone will be happy!
Well I'm back on the scene and I plan on stay for a while if you don't mind.
