Kagome was standing on the end of the pier with Sango. They were about to get on the boat they'd been assigned to, the Tetsusaiga. Kagome had wanted to be on this particular boat because of the Captain; the silver-haired hanyou named Inuyasha.
As Kagome got into the boat she stumbled a bit and found herself on the floor of the boat with her gear spilled out of her bag.
"Way to go, smooth girl," Inuyasha said, staring down at the figure sprawled out on the deck of his boat.
He watched as she collected her gear and a woman with brown hair and muscular build helped her up.
"Her name isn't smooth, you fuck up. Her name is Kagome," Sango yelled into one triangular ear. She knew the hanyou wasn't to blame for being a half-breed. But the job she had with the government didn't really allow her any thought in the matter. Sango's thinking was quickly halted when she felt a hand on her ass. She turned and slapped with a force that would have busted a wooden plank, thinking it was the half-breed. "What the hell do you think your doing?" she yelled.
"Why, I've no idea what you mean, ma'am?" Miroku stated matter-of-factly, rubbing the red handprint on his cheek.
--------------------------------------------
Inuyasha watched his diver's actions as he steered the Tetsusaiga through the waters.
Mirkou, his boat hand, already had everyone's gear hooked up and ready to go with air and weights checked out.
The divers had been instructed to suit up for the dive and Inuyasha couldn't help but stare at Kagome as her curved body wiggled into her tight neoprene wetsuit. He stared at her the entire time that she was putting on her suit and had to hide his now hardened member behind the helm consoles. Soon they reached the mooring line and Miroku took the helm as Inuyasha moved up to the bow to secure the line.
Once that was done he told the divers to enter the water and dive to the bottom of the mooring line and wait for him there. He watched the first pair jump off of the boat doing a giant stride entry; he then began to inch his way into his own skin tight red and black wetsuit. Throughout the entire ordeal the hanyou failed to notice that Kagome was watching him with lust filled eyes. When he was finished, he entered the water with all of his gear and he began the dive.
---------------------------------------------
Sesshoumaru's keys clanked as he locked the door to the dive shop. It had been a wonderful dive; both boats had seen some nurse sharks and moray eels. Most of the tourists loved that kind of stuff, so that's what the dive masters tended to try to show them. The youkai turned toward his brother; he had seen the way that human girl had looked at him, as well as the way InuYasha had looked at her. "Inuyasha, do you plan to meet the divers at their hotel for dinner tonight as you always do?" Sesshoumaru asked.
Inuyasha was hesitant in answering. He had a very important night with Shiro planned, but he didn't want to tell his brother that.
"I know you're planning to be with Shiro. I was just wondering if you would tell me," Sesshoumaru said, "I still don't see why you don't mate with him, Inuyasha."
"Because our relationship isn't like that, Sessh. How many times do I have to tell you that?" Inuyasha was enraged at the youkai's constant questioning.
Inuyasha didn't have the time to argue with his brother. It was well past seven at night and he had to get home with food before nightfall.
----------------------------------------------
Shiro waited outside Inuyasha's house and kept looking up at the setting sun. It was almost dark and Inuyasha was nowhere in sight. Shiro thought to himself, 'He had better hurry or the secret is blown.' He could smell Inuyasha's brother Sesshoumaru and his mate Rin approaching and waved as they came into view. When they got closer to the house, Rin ran up to the hanyou and gave him a hug. Shiro was not a fool and did not return the action, for fear of a raging youkai. "Howdy, Rin. How are ya'll today?" he asked, trying to get her to release him.
Shiro knew that Sesshoumaru didn't care for any hanyous except his brother and maybe one or two others. Sadly, Shiro was not one of them. The youkai had walked in on him and Inuyasha rutting about four years ago and had beaten Shiro to within an inch of his life. Sesshoumaru could not understand how the two hanyous could rut and not mark each other.
"Sesshoumaru, do you know where your brother is?" Shiro asked quietly.
"Does this Sesshoumaru look like Inuyasha's keeper?" Sesshoumaru replied, smelling the fear radiating off of Shiro. Sesshoumaru knew that he had overreacted when he had found out about his brother and the hanyou standing before him. He had nearly killed Shiro, but was stopped when his brother had attacked him. The youkai had easily defeated his brother, but had been distracted enough to calm down and take in exactly what had happened. He was sorry for what he had done. He knew that both of them needed love and affection and he also realized that this was probably the only way either of them could get it. But, he was not one to admit his shortcomings and had never actually apologized.
The powerful youkai watched as the hanyou's ears flattened against his head and he bowed his head slightly in submission. He began to shake and Sesshoumaru moved closer to the hanyou in an attempt to see exactly what the problem was. He got halfway to him when he heard Inuyasha's truck turn the corner and come racing up to the house. He watched as the truck pulled into the carport underneath his house and Inuyasha sprinted up to Shiro, grabbing him, unlocking the door, and entering the house as quickly as possible. Sesshoumaru considered following for a moment, but was cut short by Inuyasha coming back out and grabbing pizza boxes from his truck.
Inuyasha growled at his older brother as he passed by.
Sesshoumaru wasn't scared, but he knew his brother wished to be alone. So he turned and went into his own home, which smelled of the food currently being cooked by his mate.
-----------------------------------------------
"Inuyasha did you just growl at your brother?" Shiro said, still shaking.
"I... I guess I did," Inuyasha replied as he sat the pizza boxes on the kitchen counter.
Shiro went to the center of Inuyasha's living room. Once there, he began to feel his insides heating up. He quickly yanked off his shirt and then pulled his boots and socks off. Before long, he had his wranglers and briefs off as well and stood completely nude in the center of the living room. "Inuyasha, it's starting, ahhhhh!!!" Shiro yelled.
Inuyasha heard Shiro's yell and was in the living room in an instant. This was Shiro's night, the night that all hanyous guarded with complete secrecy. Shiro's night was the third night of the waxing crescent moon. This was the night he turned mortal. However, Shiro was different than most hanyous. Most turn human during their period of weakness, but Shiro was rare, he turned into an animal during his night.
"AHHHHH!!!"
Inuyasha looked down at the hanyou as his aura turned a brilliant blue and he fell to his knees, clutching his head. In no time, Inuyasha was on his knees next to Shiro with his arms around his back hugging him close, whispering into his ear as he changed.
"It's ok, Shiro. It'll all be over soon."
In what seemed like minutes to Shiro, but were only seconds in reality, he was in his mortal form. He looked up at Inuyasha and whimpered. He hated being in this form. At least when one was human, one could still communicate.
Inuyasha looked down at the Siberian Husky that he had his arms around and smiled. "See, what'd I tell you? It's over."
Shiro whimpered and licked the side of Inuyasha's face. The hanyou was the only one that knew of his time, the third night of the waxing crescent moon, and hopefully he would always be the only one that knew of it. Shiro watched as Inuyasha rose and began looking for something, when he heard Inuyasha's triumphant yell he looked at what was in the hanyou's enclosed hand.
Inuyasha saw what he had been looking for and grabbed it. He let out a yell and then turned to Shiro holding a green tennis ball in his hand. "Shiro, lookee here! I got a ball for da wittle doggie," Inuyasha managed in a baby voice.
Shiro let loose a growl that could have turned blood into ice. He hated it when Inuyasha teased him about turning into a dog even though they both aggravated each other to death during their monthly nights.
"Ok, ok, we can play fetch later. You want some pizz.." Inuyasha was cut off as his doorbell rang. Inuyasha took a sniff of the air and caught the scent of the person outside. It was definitely female, in fact he knew the scent by memory; it was Kagome. He looked at Shiro who gave him a look of 'don't answer the door'. He looked back as the doorbell was rung again, and he heard Kagome's voice.
"Inuyasha, your brother said you lived here and that you were home. Can I come in?"
The silver haired hanyou looked down at the dog before him. He knelt down and gently scratched him behind the ears. He knew that was Shiro's weak spot, it always had been, except in his Hanyou form which were his ears. He watched as Shiro submitted and rolled onto his back exposing his tummy to be rubbed. Inuyasha stopped and went to answer the door.
---------------------------------------------
Kagome stood next to the door and watched it open. As it did, she caught the back of Inuyasha waving his hand gesturing for her to come in. She closed the door behind her and followed him into his living room. When she entered she saw the leather couch and seats and sat down in one of them. In an instant she was being sniffed at by a dog, a Siberian Husky if she remembered her breeds correctly.
"Hey, puppy, what do you want?" Kagome asked as she began to push the dog away.
'What do I want? What the hell do you think I want, bitch? I want you the fuck outta this house,' Shiro thought to himself. He finally quit sniffing her when she smacked him pretty good on the nose and he went away whimpering to Inuyasha, who was in the kitchen.
The hanyou looked at Shiro and grabbed a box of pizza and made a motion for the dog to follow him into the living room.
"Kagome, have you had anything to eat? I've got some pizza here," Inuyasha said, taking in Kagome's scent as he passed by her.
Shiro followed Inuyasha and sat down beside the chair that his friend had sat in. He looked up at Inuyasha and tilted his head. He couldn't believe that his best friend would let that human girl in the house with him in his weakened state.
"So what's your dog's name, Inuyasha? Thanks, I'd love to have some," Kagome said as she opened a box.
"It's Shi....umm, it's Katana. His name is Katana," Inuyasha said uneasily.
Shiro was growling and moving Inuyasha's hand with his nose. He was doing this for a number of reasons, he was hungry and the scent of the pizza was driving him crazy and he was warning Inuyasha not to screw up again. Shiro had to watch Inuyasha not take a hint as he began chowing down on a slice of pizza. He was left with no other choice. He went over to where Kagome was sitting and put his head in her lap and gave her puppy dog eyes. He let out a low whine as he stared up at her.
"Awww, Inuyasha, can I give Katana a piece of pizza?" Kagome asked, knowing she was too kind.
Inuyasha nearly fell out of his chair. He had totally forgotten about Shiro. He had been completely lost in Kagome; her looks, her scent... oh god, her scent. He nodded to her and watched her feed Shiro, who turned and gave an Inuyasha a "Go to Hell" look.
After Shiro gave Inuyasha a dirty look he jumped up on the couch and lay down next to Kagome, who started feeding him pieces of pizza when Inuyasha told her she could. After that, Kagome reached behind his ears and began scratching there. He couldn't resist it, he rolled on his back and let her rub his belly with his back left leg kicking slightly in the air. He whined when she stopped and rolled back over.
----------------------------------------------
Inuyasha was talking with Kagome. The two where in deep conversation about what each of them did and what they liked. Shiro could tell Inuyasha was flirting heavily with this woman. Though soon, Kagome began to rub behind his ears and Shiro began loosing consciousness. Her rubbing was sending him into a bliss-induced sleep and he could barely stay awake.
The hanyou watched as Kagome rubbed Shiro's ears, having no idea what she was doing to him. He also couldn't believe that this girl affected him this much and also didn't care that he was a hanyou. Kagome asked what time it was and Inuyasha looked at the clock on the wall and told her it was 11:39. He was sad when she got up and said that she had told her roomy that she would be back before midnight.
Kagome got up and started toward the door, startling Shiro awake. He sat up and watched the two walk toward the doorway. He got up and followed them, his claws making a clipping sound on the hardwood floors. He sat on his haunches and watched as they said goodbye.
He saw Kagome move her head closer to Inuyasha's in the open door and he watched as his buddy began to kiss her. Shiro couldn't believe what he was seeing, Inuyasha was making out with this girl, right in front of him. His anger began to boil and he let out a loud bark. Then he retreated up the stairs and pawed open Inuyasha's bedroom door. When that was done he whimpered, jumped onto Inuyasha's bed, and curled up in a ball to go to sleep.
Inuyasha had broken off the make-out session with Kagome when he heard a bark that was loud enough to wake Rin up next door. He looked at the origin and caught Shiro's tail going into his bedroom and he heard him whimper.
"It looks like Katana doesn't like you kissing anyone," Kagome mused, licking her lips.
Inuyasha tried to figure out what to do or say. He felt like he had just betrayed his best friend. "He is like that with new people, he just needs to get to know you," Inuyasha said, ignoring the half-truth of the sentence.
Shiro would like her if he had listened to what they had been talking about. 'Though it wasn't as if he had a choice,' Inuyasha thought as he remembered that Kagome had been rubbing behind his ears all night long.
"You had better go. I need to talk to him," Inuyasha whispered, his brain not exactly registering what he just said.
Kagome, however, caught what he said. She knew that he must have been lonely as a hanyou and she knew that he hadn't been with many women by the powerful, almost desperate, kiss he had given her. Kagome said goodnight and walked out the door.
Inuyasha closed the door, his mind still reeling from the kiss and the thought of his betrayal to his best friend as he walked toward his bedroom. When he got there, he found Shiro asleep and whimpering, as he did every night that he was transformed. Inuyasha stripped down to nothing and lay down beside Shiro, encircling him with his arms. He began to pet the dog's head in an effort to soothe him. Shiro quieted down and soon both were in a deep quiet sleep.
