Seamless-Insane

He was seamless and ripping up at the core. It wasn't something that could be helped, though. And, despite the futility, she desperately held him together. Trying to keep the seams clamped closed with little hands and big hopes. Huge dreams. Trying to save him. Keep him from falling out of himself. Desperately searching for threads to mend. But the threads, the fragile threads that had held him together for so long, had been burnt away years ago and he was already lost to the world, though she wouldn't accept it.

She had to save him. To save him would save herself and she needed that. She needed this. So he would pretend, for her. For her, he would pretend to be fine and whole and well because of her small grasping hands. He would pretend to be fine and whole and well because of her smile. Her hopes. Her dreams. Her words. Her eyes, which held such intensity that he felt as though he were burning when she focused them upon him.

He could pretend for her. But for what purpose and to what end, he did not know. For, he could not keep up the false display of being whole forever.

And years and years later he realized a little too late that, while playing pretend for her loving eyes, he had left her unprotected. And she, too, had broken at the seams as he had. Her core a torrent of innocence lost and broken heart. Ripping itself apart. But he did not struggle to hold her together. He knew the price to do so.

So he watched as her threads, such delicate threads, burnt away and she crumbled beneath the years. He watched as she tore herself apart. A broken doll. And she fell out of herself. Still desperately searching for his threads to mend.

But their threads, the fragile threads that had kept them from falling apart, had been burnt away years ago and they were already lost to the world, though she wouldn't accept it.

Her eyes, which held such desperate sorrow that he felt as though he were breaking all over again when she focused them upon him.

And she would continue to cling to him, desperately trying to hold him together with small, frantic hands. Though, they both knew that they were both seamless-insane, she would not accept it.
