As soon as Inuyasha left, Kagome headed for the bathroom to take a shower then she heard a knock at the door while running the bath water. She turned off the water and wiped her hands on her dress before getting up to her feet. She walked towards the door and opened it to reveal a boy, no older than thirteen, standing innocently at her doorstep.
“Oh, what may I help you with?” She said with a smile on her face.
Kohaku looked the woman up and down. He had to admit she was a pretty young thing.
Her beautiful cerellean blue eyes stared back at him. Even though she was smiling her eyes held more. More depth. More pain.
“Are you just going to stand there?” Kagome said, her smile turning into a confused frown.
Kohaku shook his head. “Um...can I use your phone?”
Kagome smiled. “Of course you can.” She said stepping aside so the boy could walk pass the threshold. Kohaku walked inside the apartment and looked around. He could tell that she didn’t live here alone, but with a man. “The phone’s in the living room.”
Kohaku nodded as he walked over to the phone. He sighed as he reached into his hoody to pull out his weapon.
“So, what’s a cutie like you roaming around by yourself?” Kagome asked.
Kohaku stopped his movements and turned to face her with red cheeks. “Um...I got lost.”He said.
“Oh, well I'm more than happy to help such a handsome young man.”
Again, Kohaku blushed. “Thanks.”He shyly said. He turned to face the phone. He inhaled to get himself back together. ‘Okay. I have to pull myself together. This just has to be done.....for our lives.” He inhaled again and stripped himself of all emotions like he always did right before a kill.
Kagome watch the boy debate himself at the phone. “Do you need help dialing?” She asked.
“No.” He said darkly before he whipped out his cold steel axe. Kagome’s eyes widened and before she could scream or speak, Kohaku slung the chain around her neck. She gasped for air as the chain tightened around her, choking her. He pulled the chain making her face red with anguish and her eyes involuntarily water.
Kagome tried her best to breath as it soon became hard to even keep her eyes open. She could feel the warm sensation of urine travel down her thigh as he, literally, tried to choke the life out of her.
Kohaku wrapped the chain around his arm making the it tigther. He hated to do this, especially since she was a friend to his sister, but it had to be done. 'Any minute now' Kohaku thought to himself. "This will all be over with."
Then suddenly the door was kicked open off it's henges, sending it flying to the ground. InuYasha's eyes burned with fire at the scene before him. He rushed with lightning speed and landed a powerful punch to the boy's face. Kohaku's head jarred back as he felll to the ground, sending the weapon of his hand
Kagome took the time to unwrap the chain from her neck and tried to regulate her breathing. She winced as she touched her red, bruised neck
Kohaku immediately stood up and prepared himself for battle. "I suggest you leave, dog boy."
InuYasha smirked. "Leave? You must be kidding. This is my house and I say what goes." He said before rushing to him.
Kohaku dodged the assault and kicked InuYasha in the stomach. "This isn't a game."
InuYasa coughed up blood and stood up. "Who's playing?" He said before driving his elbow into Kohaku's jaw, hearing a slight crack. The boy flew from the impact and got up with with his weapon his hand.
.
Kohaku smiled a crooked it smile before he grasped his jaw and snapped it back in place. "I warned you, dog boy." He darkly said before he started to swing the kusarigama. He threw the heavy sickle towards InuYasha, but he dodged it, pinning the point into the drywall.
InuYasha chuckled as the axe missed him by a hair. "I hope you know that you're paying for that."
"Ugggh!" Kohaku growled as he turned around, retracting the axe, and sent the heavy weight that was connected to the other end of the chain towards the hanyou.
InuYasha dodged it quickly making the weight smash into the wooden end table breaking the pictures that were on there. "That was a picture of my mother."
"I hope she has enough money to bury your body." Kohaku said swinging the sickle making a 'swosh' sound.
"I'm tired of playing games with you, little boy."
"Games?"
"Yes, I have tried to respect you since you're nothing but a baby." InuYasha said cracking his knuckles. "But now it's time you go back to your mommy." He said as he stalked the boy fearlessly.
"Fool. You walk right into the lion's den." Kohaku said as he threw the axe towards the hanyou.
InuYasha grasped the sickle into his hand. Kohaku looked at him strangely before he tried to contract his weapon, but the hanyou had a tight grip.
"It's no use, boy." InuYasha said before he winced as the axe began to tear into his flesh.
"No use? You can't hold on forever." Kohaku said pulling the the chain tighter.
InuYasha bit his lip to suppress the cry of pain that was begging to break out. He continued to walk towards Kohaku before he was only mere inches from him. "You tell Naraku that I ain't going down without a fight, and if I have to kill a little kid in the process, than so be it. Now, I want you to leave and never come back." He said grasping the boy's neck and harshly began to crush it.
Kohaku tightened his neck to prevent damage to it. He glared the hanyou into his amber eyes. "And...what if I don't." He strained.
InuYasha darkly chuckled. "Then I'll just have to rip your head off." He said applying more pressure to his grip.
Kohaku's eyes lit with fear as he looked into the hanyou's devillsh eyes. They started to tinge red and his grip became stronger. "What are you?" He whispered.
InuYasha's eyes dilated as they returned to their normal amber color. InuYasha let go of the boy's neck and sighed.
Kohaku took the opportunity to run away as he shot through the picture window and landed to the concrete like a skilled cat.
InuYasha quickly ran to the window to see the boy looking back up at him before running off.
"InuYasha." A small voice lightly said.
The hanyou turned to see Kagome lying limply on the floor. He rushed to her side and the sight of her badly bruised neck broke into his heart. "I'm sorry, Kagome."
"For...what." She strained.
He grasped his jeans almost ripping into them. "It's all my fault. It's all because of me."
"Don't..." She groaned the pain. "...beat yourself up about it."
"I'll make it all better. I'll clean you up." InuYasha said softly as he picked up Kagome bridal style and carried her into the bathroom. He placed her on the toilet before he turned to the tub to turn the shower on.
"You don't have to do this. You haven't done anything wrong."
"Don't talk." He said before kneeling before her. He lifted her sundress over her head.
"Don't! I'm embarrassed."
"You don't have to be." He said before gently peeling off her panies and bra.
"Inu.."
"I said, don't talk." He said before he quickly took off his wife beater and jeans before he slowly slid down his black spandex boxers.
Kagome cheeks felt like fire as she looked at InuYasha completely naked body. "Why are..."
"Wench, do I have to tell you again. I'm trying to help. Now, shut up." He said grabbing her hand and leading her into the warm shower.
They both winced as the hot water hit their bruises. InuYasha took a wash clothe and soap off the shower rack and began to lather the clothe up.
Kagome blushed hotly as he slowly began to wash her body from head to toe.

"Drop her body here." Naraku said as his driver slowed up into an alley.
The dark suited man got out and walked over to the trunk and pulled out Kagura and dropped her body behind a garbage dumpster. He got back into the car.
"Now, get us out of here."
The driver nodded as he pressed the gas and drove out of the alley. Out of sight and definetly out of mind.
Two kids saw the car speed off and saw something in the alley. "Hey, what's that?" said one kid with black bushy hair.
"I don't know."
"Let's go check it out."
"You must be out of your mind."
"Come on, are you chicken?"
"No!"
"Then come on." The boy said as he ran down the alley with the other kid in tow.
"I don't know about this, Shinji. It's pretty creepy down here."
"Don't be such a pussy?" The boy said as he stalked the object until he realized it was a body.
"Oh, my God, Shinji!"

Kohaku walked into the comfy house of his grandmother and sighed. 'It was NOT suppose to end like that.'
The lamp was turned on giving the living room a amber glow. Kohaku whipped his head around to see Sango in a recliner. Her eyes were red and puffy and she held a Kleenex box close to her.
"Oh, it's you." Kohaku said.
Tears streamed down the brown haired woman's face. "She's gone! You bastard." She sobbed.
"Calm down. She's not dead....yet."
Sango controlled her breathing and smiled. "She's alive?" She said wiping the tears from her face.
"Yeah. It so happens that she has a watch dog."
Sango inwardly grinned. 'So, you came in handy, InuYasha.'
"I have to change my stragedy. It appears that I underestimated the mutt."
"It appears you have."

"I really have to thank you for everything." Kagome said lightly as she cuddled up into the couch in one of InuYasha's big T-shirts. She looked out to the billowing white bed sheet that was pinned to broken window.
"Whatever. Here." InuYasha said handing her a cup of tea.
She nodded her thanks and took it. "I mean and not just for the shower,"She blushed hotly before she lowered her head to cup. "...but for saving my life. I just knew I was going to die that very second before you came. I could feel my life slipping away from my fingers."
InuYasha silently sat on the recliner across from her. 'If I arrived a minute later, she would've been gone' "Kagome?"
"Yes, InuYasha."
"You have to get out of here."
"What are you talking about?"
"You can't live with me anymore."
"You said you were going to help me."She paused. "You promised."
"I know what I said, but things change. My situation is getting bigger than I can handle. I mean, tonight proved that I can't protect you every second and watch my own back at the same time."
"What am I going to do?"
"I can check you into a hotel until things blow over. If I don't make it, you know where my stash is."
Kagome shook her head. "What are you talking about, not making it?"
"I have unfinished business I need to handle."
"I need you, InuYasha. I need you to help me kill my fa..." She stopped herself.
"Well, I can't." He shot up and paced to the kitchen. "I had a life before you. I had my own mind before you came along and I don't need no bitch keeping me on a leash."
Kagome sat her cup down and walked to the kitchen. "I'm not keeping you on a leash. You just said you would help, and I believed that."
"Stop making this bigger than it really is! Killing this guy isn't that important."
"It’s important to me!" She countered.
"Well, it's not to me, so....tough."
"Why can't you stop being selfish for one second and help me?!" She shouted.
"Because..."
"Because what?"
"I don't know anything about you and I don't trust that!"
"Trust me." She pleaded.
“I don't even know who you are!" InuYasha yelled before he stormed to his room and shut the door.
Kagome sighed. ‘He’s right. I haven’t told him anything, but it’s hard.” Memories of her father flashed into her mind and her chest clenched in pain. She silently walked over to InuYasha door and just looked at it. Kagome lifted her hand to door but decided against before she lightly leaned her head on it. ‘What am I going to do’
InuYasha sat on his bed red with anger and blue with guilt. He wanted to help Kagome, but he didn’t want to put another woman in danger. “I’m nothing but trouble.” He looked to his closed bedroom door before getting up and slowly walking to it. He reached for the knob, but stopped before he changed his mind. He leaned his head against the wooden door and sighed. ‘What am I going to do?’

Sango couldn't go to sleep that night as she sat on the edge of her bed. She was afraid of what might happen to Kagome or what might happen to her little brother. How was she to just accept the job he had?
Then her cell phone rang making her jump up in suprise. She scrambled through the jeans she wore earlier today to retrieve her vibrating and flashing phone. The number was so familar, but she couldn't put her finger on it.
She pressed the talk button. "Hello?"
"San, it's me Kanna."
"Kanna? What's going on?"
"Kagura's in the hospital. You need to get down here."
"What? Now?"
"Yeah, it's bad. We're at Yokino Central."
By this time Sango was quickly trying to get into her former jeans. "Of course. I'm on my way." Sango hung up the phone and donned a jacket.
"What are you doing?"
Sango looked to the bedroom threshold only to see her half awake brother standing there.
"I have somewhere to go."
"Not this time of night. I won't let you."
"Hey, I'm the big sister here. You can't tell me what to do."
"I'm coming with you."
"It has nothing to do with you."
"I didn't make my hit tonight and that means it's a possibilty we're in trouble."
Sango sighed. "I can handle myself, Kohaku. Stay here with granny."
"Alright, but I'm not going back to sleep until you're back here safe."
Sango smiled genuinely as she kissed his forehead. "Thanks, but you don't have to worry about me." She said before running out of the room.
Sango rushed into the automatic sliding doors of the hospital and squinted her eyes to the blinding white light. She walked to the front desk only to be greeted by a cheery woman.
"Hi, how may I help you?"
"I need the room number where Kagura Furyu is."
The nursed nodded and went through her log until she spotted the name. "Okay, she's in room 316."
Sango nodded her thanks before she dashed off to the elevator and rode it up to the third floor where she ran through the hallways until she reached the room. Her chest clenched as she carefully walked into the room hearing the terrible beeping of the heart monitor.
Sango spotted Kagura on the bed and a tear streamed her face. She then saw Kanna and the room.
"Sango." Kanna said as she got up and hugged the brown haired woman.
"Hey, Kanna." Sango said taking off her jacket. "How is she?"
The bleached hair girl frowned. "I don't know. The doctor says she's lucky to even be alive." Her voice cracked in tears as she finished the sentence.
Sango solemnly nodded as she gave the girl another hug. "It's going to be okay."
"I'm so glad you came. I didn't think you still cared after what she did."
"Sssh. I never stopped caring for her and you know that. I'm scared for her. I'm scared for you."
Kanna escaped the hug. "You should be scared for yourself." She darkly said.
"What are..." Then a dark figure arose from the corners showing his long, inky black hair and piercing evil eyes.
"Ms. Hiratsu, I'm so glad we could finally meet."
"Who are you?"
"I am Naraku, your worst enemy." He said darkly. "Good work, Kanna."
Kanna turned to Naraku and smiled. "Thank you."
Sango breathing started to become rapid. "Kanna, what's going on? What are you doing?"
"I'm sorry, San. I love my sister, but she's been in the spotlight for too long."
"You evil bitch."
"Oh, no need for a cat fight. I have real business to take care of."
"So, you are the one pulling the strings behind this. You are the one my brother is making the hit for."
"Yes."
"And you're the one who tried to kill Kagura."
"Yes, but I won't kill her. I still need her, but you are the one I really want, my dear Sango."
"Why me?"
"Because you are the honey that's going to lure all of the bees."
