Chapter two: When She Was Mine

After Kagome had left, Sesshoumaru went back to his room for some rest. But as he laid in the large king sized bed, his mind refuses to let him sleep. `How did things turn into this?' Sesshoumaru asked himself as he thought back to eleven years ago… back to when Kagome was still his.

Flashback

"I'll see you tomorrow then." Kagome cheerfully said to Sesshoumaru as she began to walk up the steps that led into her house.

"Can't we go for a movie or something?" Sesshoumaru asked, disappointed that he couldn't spend more time with her.

Kagome shook her head sadly. "Sorry Sess, but the play is next week and I have to practice my lines."

Sesshoumaru nodded in understanding. "It's alright." He knew that the play meant a lot to Kagome because she has always had a passion for singing and acting.

Kagome immediately brightened and gave him a quick peck on the lips and a heart-warming smile. "You're the best. See you tomorrow!" And with that said, she turned and bounced up the steps of her shrine house.

Sesshoumaru smiled as he watched his girlfriend disappear inside her home. `No Kagome, you are the best.' He thought and began to walk back to his house.

--------------------------------

"So where have you been?" Inuyasha asked as Sesshoumaru arrived back to his house or as anyone would call it, mansion.

"None of your business," Sesshoumaru answered as he hung his coat and began walking up the stairs that led into the second floor; where his room was.

"You were with Kagome, weren't you?" Inuyasha guessed, jealousy evidenced in his gold eyes.

Sesshoumaru smirked. "So what if I was?"

"You don't deserve her," Inuyasha growled. "Besides, she's going to be mine."

Instantly, Sesshoumaru appeared in front of his half brother and wrapped his hand around his neck. "Correction, Inuyasha" he said, his voice cold enough to make hell freeze over. "Kagome is mine."

However, their father walked into the room just in time to stop Sesshoumaru from choking Inuyasha to death. "Sesshoumaru, let go of Inuyasha!" he ordered.

Almost reluctantly, Sesshoumaru released Inuyasha's neck, allowing him to breathe again.

"Bastard," Inuyasha snarled at him.

The only response that he received was a victory smirk from Sesshoumaru as he walked out the room

His father watched his oldest son walked away before rubbing his temple wearily. "What am I suppose to do with you two boys?"

"Well, you can send Sesshoumaru to the arctic," Inuyasha suggested helpfully. "Or better yet, how about if we dump him into the Pacific?"

His father sighed again. `Those two are going to be the death of me someday,' he thought.

-----------------------------

It was suppertime once again in the Taisho resident, and Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha were eating their dinner together at the large dinning table. No words were exchanged between the two except for a few murmurings of "bastard" and constant glares.

"Sesshoumaru, your father would like to speak with you," a servant said to the elder sibling.

Sesshoumaru nodded, immediately leaving the room and walking towards his father's office. Once he arrived, he knocked on the large, dark colored doors and waited for his father's reply.

"Come in," came the deep and familiar voice from inside the room.

Sesshoumaru entered and looked at his father. "You wish to speak to me?"

Mr. Taisho (A/N: laugh all you want, I already said that I suck at making names) rose from his seat and walked towards his son. "Sesshoumaru, do you realize that you are going to be the sole owner of my Shikon Corp once I am gone." He asked.

Sesshoumaru nodded, "Yes father, I am aware of that."

His father turned and walked to a window. "My company is no easy matter," he began as he looked out into the city. "Only someone with the finest education can handle it."

"I understand," Sesshoumaru said, still not knowing why his father had wanted to talk to him.

"I need you to have a better education," Mr. Taisho continued. "But that is something that your school cannot provide."

"What are you saying, father?" Sesshoumaru asked him.

"Your school is not good enough," his father answered. "So I have decided to enroll you into a better school" He turned and faced his son. "Sesshoumaru, I know that you like living here but it just doesn't provided a good enough education system. Therefore, I have transferred you to Tama High, one of the finest high schools in the world. It is in America."

"Pardon me, father" Sesshoumaru began, trying to keep calm. "But my home is here, in Japan; with Kagome. I have no desire what-so-ever to leave."

"I am sorry, Sesshoumaru." His father replied. "But you don't get to choose in this matter. Besides, you can find yourself another girlfriend once you arrive to America. However, I will give you a choice; you can decide whether to leave for America tonight or next week."

Sesshoumaru growled but didn't answer, instead he turned and stormed out the room. He needed to cool down; he needed to get away from his father… he needed to see Kagome.

---------------------------

After running from his house to Kagome's, Sesshoumaru finally arrived to the front lawn of her home. But instead of knocking on the door and asking permission to come in like any normal person would, Sesshoumaru decided to enter from her second floor bedroom window. He began climbing onto a large tree that grew next her house where its branches would give him enough height to reach the window. After a bit of climbing, Sesshoumaru finally reached enough height and peered through the open window and into Kagome's bedroom. However, all of his excitement in seeing Kagome instantly faded away as he saw the image that appeared before him. There Kagome, his girlfriend, were, leaning against a wall and making out with Koga, one of his many friends.

"Oh honey," Sesshoumaru heard Kagome say. "I um… I love you."

"And I you," Koga said to her.

Sesshoumaru quickly looked away, not wanting to see the heartbreaking sight anymore. Unnoticed by the two in the room, he quietly climbed down from the tree and back onto the grass floor.

"Why?" he whispered although his words were carried away by the howling wind. "Was I not good enough for you, Kagome?" Sesshoumaru took one last, longing glance at Kagome's house and a tear slid down his face. "I guess you were just too good to be true," he said bitterly. Slowly, with a shattered heart, he turned and made his way back to his house where his father was waiting for him.

"I have made my decision," Sesshoumaru said, quickly capturing his father's attention. "I want to leave for America tonight."

And so, in a mere few hours, along with Mr. Taisho and a complaining Inuyasha, Sesshoumaru boarded a first class plane that would take him far away from Japan, away from the place that held so much memories, and away from Kagome's life… or so he thought.

End flashback

Sesshoumaru shook his head, wanting to forget Kagome and the awful memories of that day. But whenever he closes his eyes, the image of her would appear again… in his friend's arms. Sighing, Sesshoumaru turned to lay on his side and closed his eyes again. This was going to be a long night.

-------------------------------

Early in the morning, after tossing and turning for the whole night, the sound of someone knocking on his door woke Sesshoumaru. Grumbling, he left the comforting warmth of his bed and opened the door.

"Good morning, bastard." Inuyasha greeted him.

"What are you doing here?" Sesshoumaru growled, none too please with the fact that his half brother was here.

"I am very glad to see you too," Inuyasha said sarcastically. "Anyways, I came here for a little visit.."

"Don't you have school to go to?" Sesshoumaru asked his younger sibling, who at 25, were two years younger than him, and was currently earning a degree in photography.

"I decided to take a few weeks off," Inuyasha answered. He never did care much for school. "So, the producer gave me permission to stay for a few weeks. He said that I can be your look out, you know… see which bachelorette is best for you."

"This Sesshoumaru doesn't need your help," Sesshoumaru replied coldly. "I have a group date coming up with the women in an hour; so, you can meet them once they come back."

Inuyasha sighed and muttered under his breath, "Selfish bastard; always hogging up the babes for himself."

--------------------------------

`After this, I am never going to share a room with 24 other girls again.' Kagome thought as she laid her head on the breakfast table, threatening to fall back to sleep. The other bachelorettes had kept her awake for almost half of the night, chatting and whispering to each other. Then before the sun had barely even raised, they woke her up; saying that they wanted her to sign some autographs. All in all, the famous singer did not have a restful night. And to make matters worst, Sesshoumaru was coming to take them on a group date; something that Kagome wasn't looking forward to. And as if on a cue, Sesshoumaru entered the room, looking gorgeous in a muscle shirt and shorts with his long, sliver hair tied into a low ponytail. If Kagome weren't still angry with him, she would have started drooling like the other bachelorettes.

"We are going on a picnic today," Sesshoumaru informed them while the women began squealing around in excitement, wondering what they should do with their hair or what they should wear.

Kagome groaned before walking up to the bachelor. "Sorry Mr. Taisho," she began. "But I'll be skipping this picnic."

Sesshoumaru's eyebrow arched for about one third of a millimeter. "Why?"

The singer shrugged, "I don't usually do group dates."

Sesshoumaru nodded, pretending to not care whether she comes or not, although he was disappointed because he had wanted to continue their conversation from last night.

And so, along with the 24 other bachelorettes and a few cameramen to film the entire date, Sesshoumaru droved to a near by park and began the picnic.

-----------------------------

"It is such a beautiful day," Kagome said to herself as she noticed the outdoor swimming pool. Now that there were no girls around to bother her, she decided to go for a swim. Quickly, she went to her room and changed into a black bikini before going back outside and towards the pool. Walking to the edge of the large pool, Kagome gently dipped her feet in, testing the water temperature. Deciding that it wasn't too cold, Kagome was about to dive in but a voice from behind interrupted her.

"Kagome?"

-----------------------------

After wandering aimlessly around the large, apartment-like room that Sesshoumaru was staying in, which included a grand living room, state-of-the-art kitchen, and three, well furnished bedrooms; Inuyasha grew bored and decided to go for a dip in the pool that he noticed on his way here. When he made his way outside, he noticed that he wasn't the only one that decided to go for a swim. `I thought all the women were going on a date with Sesshoumaru,' he thought. As he got nearer, Inuyasha noticed that the woman had a great, model like body and the small bikini that she wore really fits her. `This is going to be fun,' he smirked. But then he noticed the woman's silky, darker than midnight, raven black hair. There was only one person Inuyasha know that has that hair color, and it was someone that he had wanted to meet again for a very long time. "Kagome?" he asked in disbelief.

The woman turned around and looked at him curiously. Suddenly, realization dawned her blue eyes. "Inuyasha," she squealed before running over to him and wrapping him in a hug. "Oh my gosh, I haven't seen you for such a long time already."

Inuyasha nodded in agreement and looked at Kagome's face. Yes, she definitely looks hotter than she already does in magazines.

"I missed you a lot too, Kag." Inuyasha said as he hugged her back.

"What are you doing here?" Kagome asked him curiously. "Did you sign up for The Bachelor too?"

Inuyasha shook his head. "Nope, but now I wish I had. I am just here to help Sesshoumaru choose a woman." Then his eyes darkened. "Why are you the bachelorette? Do you want to marry him too?"

Kagome giggled before punching him on the arm playfully. "No silly, the producer tricked me into it; saying that it was some kind of dance for charity."

Inuyasha laughed although part of him was very much relief that she wasn't interested anymore in his half brother. `Maybe I sill stand a chance to win her over, after all.' He thought.

"So, how have you been doing?" the singer asked.

"Okay, I guess. I am taking photography in college but I am finding it harder than it looks." Inuyasha answered and grinned slyly. "Want me to take some pictures of you?"

A grin spread through Kagome's beautiful face as she nodded in excitement.

"Okay then, just let me go get my camera." Inuyasha said as he ran back to the room that he was sharing with Sesshoumaru. Once he found his camera, he ran back out to meet her again.

"I can't believe that you are going to be a photographer," Kagome laughed as she strikes a pose. "The last time that I saw you, you could barely hold a camera straight."

"Yeah," Inuyasha agreed, trying not to be too distracted with Kagome's poses. `Where did she learn these moves?' he thought. `Man, she can easily pass for a model anytime.'

Kagome giggled again at the dreamy look on Inuyasha's face. "I was also taught to move and pose like a model when I hit stardom," she replied to Inuyasha's unvoiced question.

--------------------------------

After taking a few photos, the two talked and caught up with each other. Then they decided to go for a swim in the pool.

"No fair, Inuyasha!" Kagome whined as Inuyasha beat her for the fifth time.

Inuyasha smirked and swam over to her. "I was always a much faster swimmer than you, Kag."

Kagome smiled before leaving the pool and sitting on the edge, gently dipping her feet into the cool water.

"So Kagome, what are you feelings for Sesshoumaru." Inuyasha carefully asked her, a question that he really wanted an answer to.

Kagome stay silent for a moment before admitting, "To tell the truth, I don't really know." Then she looked at him and gave him a smile that nearly melted his heart. "Oh, I almost forgot to thank you for keeping in contact with me after you left." When Sesshoumaru and his family had moved away without a goodbye, Inuyasha was the only one that had called her. He told her that they were doing fine but Sesshoumaru forbade him to tell her where they were. However, whenever Kagome asked to talk to Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha would make an excuse until she gradually realized that Sesshoumaru was avoiding her.

Inuyasha shook his head, "Feh, it was nothing. I am glad that we were able to remain close for all these years. So Kag, how come you know how to speak English? The last time that I checked, Japanese was your only language."

Kagome grinned and shrugged her shoulder. "I decided to take the English course in high school. It was very helpful for my singing career."

-----------------------------

`I had more fun watching paint dry than hanging out with these women,' Sesshoumaru silently groaned as he came back from the group date. The picnic was an entire disaster; all the bachelorettes (except for Sango, of course), were talking and giggling nonstop, trying to get his attention. So far, Sesshoumaru had managed to remember their names: there's Eri, Ayame, Kikyo (A/N: ::shudder::), Sango, Kagura, Akira, Kim, Andrea, Anna, Shannon, Kate, Jessica, Angela, Krista, Tracy (A/N: God help me; I am running out of names), Mary, Jenny, Nicole, Betty, Alexandra, Lucy, Sophia, Eva, and Cherry. Of course, there were also Kagome, who had decided not to show up for the picnic, much to the annoyance… and disappointment of Sesshoumaru.

He stepped out of the car and decided to take a quick stroll in the garden to help clear his mind. However, as he went passed the pool, Sesshoumaru saw Kagome laying on a beach chair, sunbathing. His eyes roamed over the singer's barely clothed, well-toned body; admiring her perfect curves and smooth, creamy skin. As if sensing that someone was staring at her, Kagome opened her crystal sapphire eyes and looked over at him.

"Oh you're back," she said.

Sesshoumaru nodded and settle himself onto a beach chair next to her. "Why didn't you come to the picnic?" he asked her in his usual, indifferent voice.

Kagome yawned before turning to lay on her stomach. "Today is too beautiful of a day to be spoiled by hanging around you," she replied.

"So… I take it that you are still mad at me." Sesshoumaru pointed rather than asked.

"No not angry," Kagome replied. "I just don't feel comfortable being around you."

Sesshoumaru was silent for a while before thinking that this was the best time to talk before the other bachelorettes begin trying to find him again. "Kagome, I want to finish our conversation from last night."

Kagome yawned once more, her eyes beginning to close. "And I want to take a nap."

"Not until I straighten things out with you first," Sesshoumaru said, his voice hardening in a demanding tone. But when he didn't receive a response from her, he looked over at her and nearly sweat dropped. She was already fast asleep.

`At this rate, you are never going to talk to her,' his inner voice screamed at him. `Go wake her up now.' Sesshoumaru inwardly sighed and glanced at the sleeping singer. He just doesn't have the heart to wake her. `My ass you don't,' his subconscious barged in again. `Remember? You don't have a heart.'

"Shut up," Sesshoumaru said to the annoying, little voice in his head. However, Kagome began to stir and her eyes fluttered opened again. `Hahah,' his subconscious mocked him. `You just woke her.'

"Were you talking to yourself?" Kagome asked him as she yawned sleepily.

Sesshoumaru shook his head and looked at her seriously. "Kagome, I need to ask you something."

"What is it?"

"Why did you kiss Koga?" Sesshoumaru questioned her, feeling the familiar flicker of anger growing inside him as he remembered that heartbreaking memory.

Kagome looked at the man beside her and her mouth dropped opened in shock. "I did what!?"

A/N: ::sniff:: thank you so much to all the people that reviewed my first chapter! Now let me clear a few things:

No, Kagome is not a lying, cheating whore. If you follow some of the hints that I gave you, you might realize why she kissed Koga.

Yes, this is a Sess/Kag.

No, this is not Inu/Kag. I don't have anything against this pairing but I just like S/K more.

Yes, Inuyasha does have strong feelings for Kagome.

No, I am not pairing Inuyasha with Kikyo (Yuck, I hate that pairing).

Question: Who should Mr. McNeil be? Shippo? Myouga? Or Toutousai?… Heheh.

I am so sorry for making a cliffie but I didn't wanted to make this chapter too long. I hope you enjoy this chapter. I kind of wrote it in a rush so please excuse my grammar or spelling errors and I am really sorry if you feel that the characters are OOC. I know that there isn't much S/K fluff in this chapter but I had to find a way to put Inuyasha into this story. Please review! It would be much appreciated.
