Inuyasha's fight

Summary: A fight with Sesshoumaru brings Inuyasha and Kagome closer together. Inu/Kag.

Chapter 1: Sesshoumaru's challenge

The night was to still, Inuyasha didn't like it one bit, still nights like these reminded him of the night his mother was killed. Inuyasha sniffed the cool night air. He smelled demons. That didn't surprise him. The feudal era was full of malicious demons, what did surprise him was that the demon smelled a lot like Sesshoumaru. He jumped from his perch in the old go-shinboku god tree and landed on its old gnarled roots. He ran towards the village, and lady Kaeda's hut. He parted the curtains on the door and went into Kaeda's house.

It was warm inside and dinner was on the table. They were having his favorite meal, instant noodles, but he didn't think he would be able to eat. Even so he sat down in his regular place next to Miroku. He didn't even touch his food. Kagome looked worried “Inuyasha are you okay”.

“No I'm not okay I feel a demon nearby and I think it may be Sesshoumaru” Inuyasha said with a scowl. Damn, that stupid, mangy mutt was going to ruin his plans for the surprise he was going to give Kagome tonight, Damn him to hell, Inuyasha raged within the confines of his head. (Hmmm! I wonder what he had planned, even though I'm supposedly evil I'll give you a hint, I'm a hopeless romantic and a great matchmaker if I do say so my self. Think you can figure it out before I reveal my secret plan in chapter three. Hey don't you even think about skipping chapters, I'm watching.)

“That's not good he may try to battle you for your sword and we don't have time for that” said a very exasperated Kagome.

A leaf crackled loudly under Sesshoumaru's foot. He flinched. He needed to be more careful or that idiot half brother of his,

Inuyasha, would have no trouble finding him at all. His billowy pale robes gathered gracefully about his lean form. Sesshoumaru stepped from the cover that the edge of the forest had provided for him. He stepped into the bright moonlight and began to walk up the hill toward the village where Inuyasha was currently living.

Suddenly he spotted four ghostly figures standing at the edge of the village. As the moon rose higher he saw that they were no ghosts but were in, fact, the four friends. He recognized all of them. The first was his rotten half-brother, Inuyasha. Then there was Kagome, that priestess Kikyo's reincarnation. Next to her stood Sango, the demon exterminator, and beside her stood Miroku holding his staff calmly in his right hand, completely ready to use his air void. Sesshoumaru realized he would have to fight for his brother's sword. He had expected that.

Miroku stepped forward and spoke “so Sesshoumaru did you come to fight”.

Inuyasha cut him off and finished for him “or did you just come to waste my time”.

Sesshoumaru laughed and said, “You didn't think I would fight you myself, did you? I won't tire myself out with the likes of you. But perhaps you would like to duke it out with my little pet.”

Kagome gasped as a colossal snake demon slithered out of the forest. Sesshoumaru stepped back and melted into the deep shadows under the trees to watch what would happen and step in to fight, should Inuyasha win this battle.

Inuyasha unsheathed his sword as the demon oozed toward them. At first his sword just looked like an ancient, rusty katana and the snake laughed, “Do you think you can kill me with that little toothpick you call a sword?”

At that moment his sword transformed the way it always did when he needed to protect a human. He had found that that it changed more easily when Kagome was around. (hint, hint) In one powerful stroke he cut the viper in half. He sheathed his sword, turned and walked back to the others.

“Wait a minute,” said Sesshoumaru. “I will fight you now!

“Any time,” said Inuyasha.

The light flickered off the gleaming sword.

The two brothers faced each other in the field.

It was more than the chilly breeze that made Kagome shiver. It was the powerful battle aura, and hate, that radiated from the two in the field. Sesshoumaru drew his sword and they rushed across the field. There was a deafening crash of metal against metal

Inuyasha snorted, “Keh! I will kill you Sesshoumaru.”

“you kill me I don't think so Inuyasha” said Sesshoumaru, laughing at the very idea.

“Yes I will kill you and then there will be no more distractions for me as I find the rest of the Jewel Shards” Inuyasha boasted

Arrogantly “Sesshoumaru I've always hated you it's never been a secret, in fact I'm going to enjoy killing you.

On to Chapter two

A/N: Don't worry all you fluffy fans I'm not going to let Inuyasha kill Sesshoumaru.

Inuyasha: What do you mean “let me” you're just the author I can do what I want and I want to kill that moron.

Evil Black Mage: well you're not going to, Osurouwi.

BANG!!!

Inuyasha: Hey I thought Kagome was the only one who could do that.

Evil Black Mage: who says I'm not Kagome now leave me alone and let me work in peace.

Inuyasha: Yes ma'am (wanders off somewhere muttering something about confusing women).

Evil Black Mage: now where was I, Oh yes I just can't kill fluffy yet he has to take care of Rin I wouldn't dream of leaving her with that creep Jaken.
