[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Prologue:

"Die… Naraku." Kagome grunted, holding down Naraku with her left forearm at his neck and holding an arrow in her other. He was down on his back, Kagome on top of him, barley able to breathe with Kagome forcing all her wait on her arm and his neck. A pink light started to radiate from her body and then the arrow in her right hand. Naraku tried to get up and throw Kagome off of him, but another force was holding him down and boy was it powerful too. Kagome became still, letting her power grow.

"Kagome! Kill him now!" Came the voices of her wounded comrades.

"C'mon...Kagome." Naraku said breathlessly, "Don't have the...guts to kill me? Or is it that you're just scared of what is going to happen to Inuyasha after you kill me?"

That statement sent Kagome over the edge. All her anger, passion, friendship, memories, and love pulsed through her body radiating out from her starting to purify the body beneath her.

"AHHHHHH! DON'T YOU DARE SAY THAT!!!!" Kagome screamed, plunging the arrow through Naraku's stomach.

"Feh. So...you...could do...something....that bitch Kikyo couldn't...heh." Naraku said starting to loose his focus as the waves of miko power started to spread through his body.

"Don't you dare compare me to her." Kagome whispered violently, pushing the arrow farther into his body watching him twitch uncontrollably as waves of power surged through his body, purifying every single atom of his body. He soon grew quiet, his breathing ceased, his heart not moving. Kagome slowly pulled her self up so that she was kneeling by his side looking for the pink aura of the Shikon No Tama. She saw the glitter of the almost complete jewel near his neck, and pulled it from his now dead body. Kagome slowly got to her feet clutching the still corrupted in her hand, put a foot on the now dead Naraku's chest, and pulled the arrow that killed him from his stomach. She then kicked his body and then walked slowly towards her wounded friends. Sango and Miroku's wounds had already been tended to thanks to Shippo, but Inuyasha lay unconscious between the two, his head being propped up by Kagome's oversized backpack. Sango looked up to see Kagome walking towards them, clutching an arrow in one hand and the other half of the Shikon No Tama in the other. Tears forming in her eyes, Kagome kneeled down next to Inuyasha, gently brushing the hair out of his face. Sango gave Miroku that look that says "Lets give them space" all over her face. (Sorry no rhyme intended!)

"Kagome-chan," Sango said gently trying to give some comfort to her friend," Myouga-san said that he wasn't poisoned, but that he just go knocked out with some bruised and broken bones."

"Thanks for the update Sango-chan." Kagome said quietly trying to hide the fact that she would burst out crying at any moment.

"Come on Miroku-san, Shippo-chan; lets give Kagome-chan some time." Sango said pulling Miroku by his robes, and Shippo by his tail with Kirara following contently behind Sango.

Kagome heard her friends leave, but kept her gaze on the almost seemingly lifeless Inuyasha. She held the back of his head as she moved her backpack, letting Inuyasha's head rest in her lap. She laid the arrow that killed Naraku next to her side, but kept the fragment of the corrupted Shikon No Tama clutched in her other hand. Her open hand gently stroked one of his soft fuzzy ears.

"Inuyasha..." Kagome whispered in a shaky voice as tears stained her face. "We did it. We killed him. It's all over. You don't have to worry about Naraku any more." Tears fell even faster as she stared at Inuyasha's motionless face. "I have it, the other half of the jewel. Our quest is finally over. Just like that. Can you believe it? After so many lives that have been lost over this stupid jewel, its all over. Just...just don't leave me Inuyasha, like so many other people have. I can't loose you. Not after we have been through so much together." Unable to stop her tears, she bent down and laid a gentle kiss on his forehead. Her eyes were closed hoping, no wishing, that Inuyasha would wake up.

"Stop crying Kagome. I won't leave you." Kagome's eyes shot open looking into two beautiful amber ones.

"Inuyasha." Kagome whispered, still shocked to see the awake hanyou.

"I think you have other things to do than worry about me Kagome." He said with a bit of a chuckle, but then grabbing his side because of his wounds.

"He is right Kagome-san." Miroku's voice came from behind her, his hand grasping her shoulder.

"Oh yea, the jewel." Kagome said lifting Inuyasha's head from her lap, placing it back on her backpack, and got up with the assistance of Miroku.

"You know what to do Kagome-chan?" Sango said looking at the corrupted half of the jewel that laid in Kagome's hand.

"God I hope so." Kagome said giving her self a laugh, her tears finally stopping.

"Oo! I wana watch Kagome-san!" Shippo, as energetic as ever, said hopping on her shoulder.

"Shippo...I don't think that would be smart. We don't know what's going to happen." Miroku said plucking the little kit from Kagome's shoulder.

"Oh..." The young kit said dejectedly.

"Shippo...You have to understand that I don't know what's going to happen, and if you got hurt I don't know what I would do with my self." Kagome said trying to convince Shippo that it was for his own safety.

"Ok Kagome, be careful though." Shippo said with a more worried tone now.

"Well guys here goes nothing!" Kagome said, trying to sound as all her worries were washed away...even though they weren't. She pulled the pure half of the jewel from around her neck, and placed it next to the corrupted half that was in her hand. She knew that she not only had to merge the jewel now, but she also had to purify it now too. She became worried because she had used most of her power to kill and purify Naraku, and what would happen if she couldn't fully purify it now? 'Don't be silly Kagome. You have to take chances...so just do it.' She closed her hand and focused all her powers on the two separated halves of the jewel in her hand. She closed her eyes, envisioning the jewel merging and saw in her mind that her purified half absorbed some of the evil that was in the corrupted half, and the jewel became fully corrupted. She flinched a bit at how powerful the evil was in the jewel, but kept her focus on making the jewel once again pure. It was tough on Kagome, not only physically but also mentally. Her powers were starting to weaken, but she didn't back down. She knew that she had to make the jewel pure again...even if it meant loosing her life. Suddenly all this images started flashing through her mind. All were images of death, destruction, and the spread of evil. They were Naraku's images. Part of his soul was put into that jewel because it had been corrupted by him for so long. Her face became strained as she watched images of her friends being slaughtered, images that were imbedded in Naraku's mind. Then they all stopped. Her mind had gone dark except for the jewel, which now glowed pink. She opened her eyes seeing a pink glow emit from her close hand. She opened that hand to see the once again whole Shinkon No Tama, not corrupted, but pure. She looked at the jewel, then her friends who stood in awe, and then Inuyasha who was now standing. She closed her hand again and moved it towards her heart. She placed that hand over her heart, suddenly becoming light headed. She looked at Shippo, Miroku, Sango, Kirara, and then Inuyasha.

"I did it."

Kagome's world suddenly went black. She felt like she hit something hard, then heard a faint cry and gasps.

"KAGOME!!!"

To be continued....
