InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Seperation ❯ Chapter 1

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Surprise!! Muah hahaha, this is the sequel to Happily Ever After…Or Not!! Not much to say now because I don't want to suddenly lose the idea in my mind for it haha, so enjoy!! Mmmkay, just to clear something up though, this story is slightly more serious and calm, and has a bit more mature themes in it then in Max's stories…so be warned haha. There are no sex scenes though…I don't want to write stuff like that…I'll just let you get the idea haha. Anyway, NOW off we go!

Meg's POV (Because it's my story and I want to go first haha…and this scene is fun for Meaghan XD)

I rolled over, forcing my eyes open. Gah…fucking sunlight. We really needed to get some heavier curtains so the room would actually STAY dark when the sun came up. Right now they were these flimsy thin things that I bought cheap just so no one could see into the room at night.
Laying on my side, I looked around the room with just my eyes, not moving my head. The room wasn't too big, but it was big enough. There was a closet on one side wall, which was open and had clothes spilling out of it, and two dressers, one across from the bed and one to the right of it. And that was it except for a mirror to the left of the bed, leaning up against the wall, as well as clothes strewn all over the floor and even some on the end of the bed. The walls were white, since we weren't exactly home decorators, and didn't have money to spare on stuff like that at the moment, and so were the sheets on the bed. The dressers were just made of wood.
Turning my head a bit more, I smiled a little. Moving over a bit, I woke up the man laying beside me by kissing him lightly. All that really seemed to do was get him to shift a little bit, so I gently nudged him.
“Jack,” I said quietly, “time to get up.”
He didn't even seem to be awake at all. Exasperated, I was about to shove him when I felt something wrap around my waist. Meeping a little, I laughed. “You weren't asleep at all you bloody pirate.”
Jack opened his eyes and grinned. “Nope.” He tightened his hold around my waist. “And honestly, I don't see a reason why we have to leave this spot all day love.”
Smirking, I poked his nose. “Because. You have work so we can pay rent, and I have school so I can get a job to pay rent and maybe help us get an actual house.”
He pulled me closer and kissed me. “Not a good enough reason.”
I laughed a little and kissed him back. “I know, I don't want to move either love…but hey, the faster you get to work, the faster we get to come back here again.”
He let go and kicked the sheets off. “I'm up.”
((And this is where we get a little more “mature” with subtle hints as to what went on haha. Told you I liked this scene XD and the other three will like their scenes that they'll eventually get like this one too haha.))
Rolling out of bed, I stood up and stretched before going over to one of the dressers. Opening one of the drawers, I rummaged through it, trying to find my jeans. I was unsuccessful until they hit me in the back.
Picking them up, I stuck my tongue out at Jack, who was smirking. “Trust you to know where my pants are.”
He shrugged. “Well since you didn't, I guess it was a good thing aye?” He paused and looked me over again. “Why're ye wearin' me shirt?”
I pulled on my jeans and buttoned them up. “Because you stole mine last night and I didn't feel like looking for it. Yours was closest.”
He smiled cheekily and I grabbed another shirt, a black tank top. Taking off his shirt so I could put mine on, I threw it at him before pulling on the tank top. “Put a shirt on.”

A little while later, we were in our small little kitchen, fully dressed.
The kitchen of our little apartment wasn't something to be amazed over, just a little table with a few chairs, the table covered in random junk we'd dropped on it over the months, a counter that was relatively clean except for a few appliances and an empty pizza box from our supper the night before. Stove, fridge and microwave…nothing special. I was sitting on the counter, doing my best to rip open a box of pop tarts, and Jack was in the living room, which was only separated from the kitchen by a small piece of counter sticking out and acting as a divider, watching TV.
I threw him a pop tart once I finally got them open, laughing as it nearly hit him in the face. “I'm not really that good at baseball,” I laughed.
Ripping open the smaller package he started to eat it. “I knew I didn't marry ye for yer athletic skills.”
While we ate the silence was broken only by the sounds of the TV and whatever random show was on.
“Love, aren't ye supposed te meet Max and `er husband downstairs at 8?” Jack asked suddenly.
I glanced at the clock on the microwave. “Fuck…”
He laughed and got up, grabbing his hat as he came over. “Let's go then.”
Ignoring my protests, he swung me over his shoulder like he always did and carried me out the door, over to the elevator and put me down before we came into the lobby of our apartment building.

Max's POV

“INUYASHA!”
I ran down the street, trying to pull on my coat at the same time. I probably looked like shit, we'd been way too rushed this morning…neither of us had wanted to get out of bed. And now we were trying to get to Meg and Jack's place on time so we'd have a ride to school. Yes, school. Even after everything that had happened and all the time we'd spent together, the truth of it was, Meg and I were still at the age where we were being forced to go to school. The administrators didn't even listen when we made the argument that we were newlyweds and needed to work so we could make rent. So now, here we were. Meg had just turned seventeen in October, so she only had to go until the end of the year, but I was still only fifteen, and until the summer of the year I turned seventeen, I'd still have to go to the local high school. And even after that, I may even have to go on to college. The only thing that comforted me about the fact that this was Meg's last year was that InuYasha could pass for being my age, so he'd still be with me. It made our money situation a little desperate, but I had a part-time job and so did he, so we were fine.
At the moment however, I was running down the icy street like the freak I was, screaming at him to come back with my keys so we could get to Meg and Jack's apartment before they gave up and left without us.
Running as fast as I could, people looked at me funny, but I just ignored them and kept going, trying to keep the silver haired half-demon in my line of vision. At least I had been able to get my coat before he took off. Wearing only jeans, running shoes and a red t-shirt that said “If I Threw A Bone Would You Go Away?” I would have been pretty cold in the frigid winter air. My hair was still the same length as it was in the fall, but now I had bright red and green streaks in it for the upcoming holiday…Christmas! I couldn't wait. I also couldn't wait until it snowed a little…a green Christmas just wasn't the same as a white one.
Weaving in and out of people, bumping into a bunch of them, I FINALLY caught up with InuYasha. “Finally! Now give me the keys so we can get to Meg's!”
“Feh,” he said, turning to look down at me. “Who needs keys? We're already here.”
Sure enough, looking up at the place he'd stopped in front of, it was the apartment building Meg and Jack lived in. I whacked InuYasha's arm playfully. “We could have gotten here faster if we'd driven.”
He smirked. “But then I wouldn't know I had the ability to get you to chase me anywhere.”
I fumed. “It's because you stole my keys!”
Arguing like that, we walked into the lobby. Our bickering was broken only by me turning away when I heard someone call my name up ahead.
There was Meg, looking dressed as if she were about to go assassinate someone…as always. She wore dark blue jeans with a belt with silver skulls on it, black skate shoes, and a black tank top, but because of the winter weather she had a black zip-up sweater over it. Black bracelets were on her wrists, and she had quite the rock on her ring finger…the exact same size as the one on mine, just another design. Mine was made of gold, and it had a large blood red ruby in its center, surrounded by a circle of diamonds. Meg's however was made of silver and had a large, perfectly cut diamond on it, two miniature sapphires on each side of it, the sapphires the exact same color as the ocean. Kim and Sarah each had rings with different designs, but Kim's had amber stones and Sarah's had emeralds. Meg also had one extra ring, which had once belonged to Jack and he'd given to her as a promise ring. She now wore it on the first finger of her right hand, the same hand her wedding ring was on.
Going over to Meg, I gave her a hug before snatching the keys away from InuYasha. Holding them up, I smiled. “Ready?”
We gave her a ride to school every morning now, since they only had one car and Jack needed it to go to work, which he didn't have to go to until we were already gone for school.
She nodded. “Yep.” She turned to give Jack a kiss, which in my opinion was a little long, but I knew InuYasha and I could be the same way when faced with being separate for even a moment…and since they'd stopped bugging us about it, we'd stopped bugging them. She told Jack that she loved him, and he said he loved her too and that he'd come to get her after. Same routine nearly every morning, but this would be the last time for a while, because this was our last day of school before Christmas break! I couldn't wait. There's only so much school you can take all at once.
Saying goodbye to Jack, we all went out and had to walk all the way back to my apartment before piling in the car and heading off to the high school.

Once there, we met up with Sarah, who'd gotten a ride with Will, and headed off towards our lockers. Kim wasn't with us of course…she was too old to come to school, and besides, she had a family to take care of now. The twins weren't very old, but they were pretty lively from what we gathered when we went to go see her. Will wasn't with us either, even though he was probably young enough, because he'd decided he'd rather get a job to take care of Sarah so she could get a good job eventually.
We got to the hallway where they'd stuffed a bunch of random students to have the same lockers together, and began to grab our books. We were being stared at as usual, but we had never cared and that at least hadn't changed. I had had the opportunity to have my own locker like Meg and Sarah did, but I'd decided to share with InuYasha. So now our locker door was covered with pictures from Japan, Sarah's was covered with pictures from the various animes she loved, and Meg had a lot of random pictures, skulls, quotes in swirly black writing, things like that. And we all had pictures from our previous summer and autumn together.
A while later after we'd gotten our books and stuff, we all disappeared into our separate classrooms, InuYasha and I into ours, and Sarah and Meg into theirs, right before the bell rang.

Sarah's POV

I fell into my chair near the back of the classroom, dropping my books onto my desk, Meg sitting down beside me. Her style was a lot different than mine; while she was in nearly all dark colors with her dark hair falling loose and straight over her shoulders, I had on lighter colored blue jeans and a light green top, a white sweater over that, and my longer hair was up in an intricate knot that almost looked Japanese, my bangs framing my face. Opening my book, I pulled out the work we'd been assigned the night before…kinda messy and done pretty quick…I'd sort of forgotten about it after Will and I went out for supper the night before. Meg's work didn't look much better. I grinned at her. “How are we passing?”
She shrugged as she handed the papers to the teacher. “Fuck if I know.”
“Ahem?” Mr. Bedrava looked sternly down at her. She shrugged.
“Come on Mr. B, you know I swear like a sailor.”
“You'd best be careful that your mouth doesn't get you into detention AGAIN this week Miss-”
“Mrs.”
Mrs. Sparrow.”
He walked away to collect the rest of the homework from the other kids, and I leaned over to poke Meg in the ribs. “Don't swear!”
“Too late.”

We got through the school day slowly but surely, going from our History class to math, while Meg was on spare, then lunch with Max and InuYasha. Once that was done I was off to my spare while Meg went to drama and Max and InuYasha went to geography, then my last class of the day, English, which was with Meg as well, until we were finally free! No more school for the entire Christmas break! And we were off to visit Kim as soon as our rides showed up. Things were pretty good so far.

Whee, chapter one! …All done. So sad. Oh well. I personally like that first scene. XD But dun worry you three, you all get your own, I've got it all set up so the romantic stuff is spread out. And to make it even, this one just happened to be the first scene. >.< Anyway….I don't want to make commercial voice…so I'm just gonna say…STAY TUNED!

So nyah.
