Shared life chapter number 8!
When they got back to the hut, the others were indeed awake. Only Miroku looked at her new hardware as Sango cooked breakfast. No sooner did kagome sit down did she see a little orange fluff ball pummeling at her. Normally she would just wait for the impact, but her new instincts kicked in. As soon as Shippo was at arms length, Kagome jumped above him and snatched the cuff of his shirt. She sat down again gracefully and held Shippo out in front of her.
"Shippo, will you please try to warn me next time you do that? My new sences and instincts seem to be in overload right now so let me calm down now." Kagome set Shippo in her lap before he could respond. Inuyasha discreetly stared at her wondering just how strong she really was. Shippo was first, besides Miroku, who noticed the new beads on Kagome.
"Kagome, what are you wearing?" He gave a tug to her beads and looked confused. Kagome just sighed heavily and was about to answer him when Sango spoke.
"Kagome, are those prayer beads around your neck?" she seemed a little shocked that Kagome was wearing such a thing. Before Kagome said anything, she was once again interrupted, this time by Inuyasha.
"Don't think of them as beads, think of them as an equalizer, Sango." After he spoke, Kagome set Shippo aside to pack her bag as Sango said the obvious questions.
"You put a subdueing spell on Kagome? What is the word?"
"Yes and before you even ask, I learned how from my mother before she died. Kagome?" Kagome turned towards him as she zipped her pack closed.
"What?"
" 'Lay' down." *Thump*
"Damnit Inuyasha! What was that for?" Kagome was muffled but he could still hear her as she squirmed under the spell. Inuyasha laughed at her position. She happened to fall face first into a bowl of soup set aside by Sango. Not only Sango, but Miroku and Shippo gaped at her. Sango because of the word, Shippo because Kagome wouldn't be able to help him from Inuyasha, and Miroku because the soup made her shirt see through. When Kagome was able to move, she stormed over to the drooling monk and hit him upside his head, hard. So hard that he fell to the ground opposite of the hut.
"Now that that is taken care of, when are we leaving?" Kagome returned to her pack and set it on her back. Shippo immediatly became frantic.
"You can't leave Kagome, you just got here!" Kagome sighed and sat down again. As soon as she was situtated, she told every one of her and Inuyasha's plans.
"Well, after Inuyasha so kindly told me about my beads, he said that I could go back to my time for two weeks for training. After the first week we will come back for a visit and stuff. Oh and I'm guessing that after two weeks there we are staying two weeks here?" Inuyasha was suprised that she caught on to that so quickly. He wanted to throw it in her face when they were done.
"Good guess, Kagome. Now we'll leave as soon as your'e ready so hurry up and grab your pack." He turned away but not before Kagome saw the expression on his face. She couldn't tell what it was, but she knew that it was a rare or even new expression for him.
Inuyasha on the other hand, was shocked as to what gave him that little thought and expression. He knew what his face looked like. It was a look of longing. Not to mention that his little mind made a certian part of his anatomy react. Why the hell did I think of that? I know Kagomes lovely but THOSE thoughts shouldn't have popped up.. At least not while they are awake... NO! Thats no excuse. Ok... think non-eechi thoughts... ummm... Sesshomaru in a dress! ACK! Bad thought... but it works...
As soon as Inuyasha was sure he had his composure back, he turned around. Kagome was tapping her foot impaitently. He just grumbled and left toward the well. Kagome said her goodbyes and followed him. She caught up in no time. As soon as they were out of the village, Kagome brought up a conversation. Suprisingly, it didn't include any yelling.
"So Inuyasha, what are we going to do when we get to my time?"
"Umm, I'm not really sure. Is there any big open spaces for training?"
"We'd have to look around but if we can't find any then the schools field would work."
"How big is it? We're gonna need a lot of space."
"How about we go see it when we get to my time? I'm not that sure if it would be big enough myself."
"Whatever, but if it's too small then I'll go out at night and find a good spot." Kagome was shocked that he was being so good with this. She decided to not argue and go with it while she had the chance.
"Sure... but if there aren't any that you find and you don't like the school then we'll as my mom."
"Right." That reminds me... I need to ask her mom for a bit of help. i won't be able to get Kagome without a little help. Inuyasha didn't like that he had to ask for help, but it was necessary.
They were about half way too the well when Kagome heard what sounded like a yelp from the Go-Shinboku. She looked up at Inuyasha to see if he heard it too. He did, and was also sniffing in that direction.
"Inuyasha, what was that?"
"Come on, lets go see. Leave your pack here." Inuyasha jumped off with Kagome close behind. The pack was forgotten for the time being as Kagome dropped it into a shrub. Before the stepped into the clearing, Inuyasha stopped Kagome and sniffed again.
"Stay on guard, Kagome. There's a little girl hanyou and a miko in the clearing." Kagome nodded and the stepped into the clearing. The first thing Kagome noticed was the little girl. She looked to be around 7 years old. Her hair was striped vertically bright pink and a vibrant blue. Her eyes were what Kagome was stuck on. The girls left eye was bright purple and the right one was a deep green. From what Kagome saw, her eyes were wide in shock or fear. It was probably the latter. Her clothes were tattered and torn, and they were covered in dirt. The last thing that Kagome noticed was her position. She was sitting on the ground with a sword pinning her to the Go-Shinboku by her left shoulder.
Inuyasha stepped in after her and took in the sight of the little hanyou. Then he turned and faced the miko. She looked to be in her early thirties. She had blond hair but it was all piled on her head. She had the normal miko garb and wasn't much too look at. Her eyes were plain brown and she had a scar along her right cheek under her eye. Inuyasha could tell she was a miko but she wasn't nearly as strong as Kagome. The woman spoke in a wretched voice.
"What are the likes of you doing here, hanyou smut." The little girl gasped at hearing they were hanyou. Yet before any one could speak, the woman snapped at them again.
"Why were such monsters aloud to live to be that old?" Kagome just ignored her and stepped toward the little girl.
"Girl, how dare you ignore me. Turn and face me." Kagome just kept stepping slowly toward the girl as Inuyasha spoke.
"Who do you think you are woman?"
"If you insist on knowing who will end your monstrous lives, I shall tell you. I am Arimota, one of the greatest mikos of this time." Inuyasha scoffed and spat at her.
"You can't possibly be a great miko. I can sense your energy and it isn't even a drop of water compared to Kagome over there." Kagome barely even noticed that her name was spoken. She was busy talking to the little girl hanyou.
"Hi. I'm Kagome, will you tell me your name? Don't worry, I'm here to help." The girl was scared senseless, but responded nonetheless.
"M- Maikosa." Miakosa winced when Kagome touched the sword.
"Don't worry Miakosa, I'm going to pull this out. This might hurt a bit though." The woman, Arimota, laughed when she heard Kagome say that.
"You can not pull out that sword girl, only I or a greater miko can remove that, for I have put a great spell on ..." Arimota trailed off as she saw the sword be pulled out like it was a piece of lint on a shirt. Miakosa yelped at the pain and slumped over. Kagome ripped off a bit of her shirt to dress the wound.
"H-how can that be? You're a hanyou, you shouldn't be able to do that!" Inuyasha just laughed as Kagome lifted Miakosa and took her over to where Inuyasha was. She laid her down behind them and faced the woman. Before she spoke to Arimota, she told Inuyasha her plan.
"Let me take care of this, ok? I need training, right? So let me do it while you make sure Miakosa is alright." Inuyasha was doubtful but granted her request and watched.
"Now Arimota, isn't it? You will address me by my name, Kagome, from now on. Now tell me, can you sense the power of others?"
"Of course I can, you arrogant hanyou." Kagome just sighed and started toward her.
"Then you must be able to sense my miko energy. I will not explain things to you but I will say that my human half is great in miko energy. Greater then you could even think." When Arimota caught sight of her energy she gasped at the strength of it. No more then two seconds afterwards, Kagome was nose to nose with her.
"Now Arimota, I know you can not hurt me so I will make this quick. I said earlier that you will adress me by my name and that you shall do. Now tell me, what has Miakosa ever done to harm you. And please use my name." Arimota was scared out of her mind by Kagome. Yt that didn't remove the venom from her voice.
"She has stolen food from my villages farms, Kagome."
"I do not apperciate you tone of voice. Now why would you attempt to kill Miakosa for her trying to live?" Inuyasha was suprised by the sound of Kagomes voice. She sounded very annoyed and by the look of things she wasn't going to play nice anymore.
Before Arimota could speak, Kagome lifted her by the scruff of her shirt and spoke again.
"Actually, I don't want you answer, instead, I will just leave you with this warning. If you ever attempt to kill a person because of their heritage, I'll kill you my self. That message goes for everyone. Pass it on." With that said, Kagome flicked her wrist and tossed Arimota into the nearest tree. The impact knocked her out.
Miakosa was in shock. She couldn't believe that these people saved her. She tried to sit up but the guy in front of her spoke.
"Hey kid, don't get up. You are wounded and you need medical attention." She was about to speak but she was again stunned when he picked her up.
"H-hey wait a minute. What are you doing?"
"What does it look like? I'm taking you to Kaede. She will help you." Kagome was next to her and started to explain things.
"Miakosa, as you know my name is Kagome and he's Inuyasha. We are going to take you to the village that our friends are at. All of them are human but don't worry, they won't hurt you at all. The is a kitsune there but he won't hurt you either. Oh and before you ask, Kaede is a miko friend of ours. She will help heal you." They reached the edge of the village when Miakosa spoke again.
"Why are you helping me?" Before Kagome could answer, Inuyasha spoke.
"Because I know from experience that being stuck to a tree for a long time isn't any fun."
