Chapter Ten
Fixing Things

Inuyasha sat in disdain as he watched Kagome being lowered to the ground by a strange man with huge black wings and purple hair. The man just had to be a demon.

Inuyasha was feeling betrayed. Is this what Kagome went through everytime he was with Kikyo? Great. Now he really felt like an asshole. Except now he was pissed off and feeling like one.

Inuyasha waited for the purple haired demon to fly off before he decided to go check on Kagome. When he got to her window, she was already asleep. Inuyasha tried to open it, but it was locked. He growled and just watched her for a while.

What the hell was her problem anyway? It's not like he hadn't told her that he had already made his decision. That he had already made up his mind to chose Kikyo and that was that. So she shouldn't be getting all upset again, should she?

Inuyasha snorted and jumped back to the ground. He was waisting time. He needed to get back to his time and find Naraku. It's kind of hard to do it without her help. He reminded himself. Sighing, Inuyasha dropped down in some bushes and began his patient wait for morning. He'd find a way to bring her back.

Dark set Kagome down and smiled at her. "Good night, Kagome-chan!" He said, cheerfully.

"What's got you so uppidy?" She asked with a frown.

"Tomorrow, we get to hear your side of the story." Dark explained. "It's only fair."

Kagome sighed, then nodded. "It's a deal then."

"Night Dark! Night Dai!" She said before darting up through the door to her Aunt's.

"I like her!" Dark said grinning. He lurched himself from the ground in a spray of feathers.

"You like all women." Daisuke pointed out from the depths of Dark's mind.

"But I really like this one." He replied. "She's stranger'n me."

Dai mumbled something sarcastic. "What was that?" Dark said huffily.

"I said then why aren't you changing back?" Daisuke snapped.

Dark frowned. "Oh. About that." He shifted forms in less than three seconds. Daisuke just sighed and hoped that no one saw him under the black wings. "So what about Risa?" He asked Dark.

"Oh. Yeah, well ya see, I never really liked her that way. She was just an outlet until I found someone better."

"Dark! That's a horrible thing to say!"

"Well, it's true!" Dark snapped. "Who do you think you're talking to anyway?"

Daisuke sighed. Well, it was true. He just hoped that Dark wouldn't upset Risa again. And Riku...well, Dai would have to cheer her up too. Dark, let me never hear you say that you've got it easy..

Kagome sat by Riku for her first period class. She wanted to get things cleared up with the girl, so not to cause trouble. "H-hi, Riku!" Kagome said with a smile and a wave.

Riku gave her a halfhearted grin and waved back. Kagome sighed when she turned away, frowning. Now that she knew the whole story, Kagome was reluctant to let Riku get the wrong idea.

Later at lunch...

"Hi, Risa! Hey, Riku! Can I sit with you?" Kagome said, eyes bright.

"Sure! Go right ahead Kagome-chan." Risa grinned widely as Kagome took the seat opposite of her. Kagome remembered that Risa was all out obsessed with Dark. Thinking that she(Kag) as a stranger should know all of Dark's secrets made her feel a little guilty.

"Riku, I've just got to tell you something!" Kagome said with an excited face. Her old friends used to use the same technique on her. That face said one thing; G-O-S-S-I-P!

"What's up?" Riku replied. Kagome smiled inwardly. "I think that the Niwa guy likes you!" She hissed.

Riku went bright pink. "Oh, but we knew that already!" Risa said, rolling her eyes. She winked at Kagome, out of Riku's range, and Kagome caught on.

"No! No! No!" She put in. "I mean he really really likes you!"

Risa snorted, helping the new girl along.

Kagome continued. "He just kept watching you with this weird expression on his face. I asked him later and he..hah hah...he went bright red and he even told me that he liked you! It was adorable. Do you like him? Cuz if you do, you should soooo go for it!"

Risa shrugged at her sister. "I've been telling her for years." She rightfully informed. "They would look great together."

"So would you and Satoshi!" Riku snapped with a smile. Risa countered. "Satoshi's weird! And I don't like him so there! You know who I like!"

Riku giggled and gave Kagome a "she's pathetic" look. "One guess?"

Kagome laughed. "Oh no! OH NO! Another girl who's absolutely love struck for the Phantom Thief, right?"

"Don't you like him?" Risa backed, offended.

Kagome snorted. "I'd sooner date a dog-eared, white haired, two timing, mutt!" She felt a dagger slice through her heart, but pushed the feeling aside when Riku broke through her suspicions. "I like you Kagome." She said. "Not many can take either of us on and win an argument."

"Friends then?" Kagome asked. The twins shared one glance and answered in unison. "Friends!"

Kagome smiled a truly happy smile for the first time since she left Inuyasha. Perhaps things were looking up.

Things were definitely not looking up for him.

He snarled again at what he'd heard her say. "I'd sooner date a dog-eared, white haired, two timing, mutt!" Who was she to say this about him? He wasn't bad! He'd saved her like a Kazillion times and carried on his friggen back from place to place and now she was comparing him to some good for nothing thief that she had a fancy for.

And that part made things worse.

Kagome's eyes lit up when she mentioned this "Dark" character and though the others hadn't been able to see, he did notice some things about Kagome. Did she even know him? Who fucking cared. One lashing from tetsusaiga and this "Dark" would be chow. Maybe that would be enough to convince her to return. So far his only hope seemed to be the fact that she still had the beads around her neck.

It was a sign. So maybe he could fix things for good.

The question was when and where?
