Slice it.

 

 

 

She slid the metal tip across her wrist, not enough to bite in-- just a little pressure.

 

 

Dig the knife in deeper.

 

 

 

Harder. She pressed the shiny tip into soft, soft flesh.

 

 

 

Make it hurt.

 

 

It scrapped along her skin, starting to peel back the first layer of dry skin, leaving a white mark and swollen redness behind.

 

 

 

Make it bleed.

 

 

 

She hissed through clenched teeth as the knife bit in hard enough to make the first bubble of blood. The spread out into a line, and then, it popped, dripping blood down her arm.

 

 

Take the pain away.

 

 

With every crimson drop that spilt, her pain faded. Leaving behind a kind of numbness.
