InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ She ❯ Chapter 14
(A.N. This is it! This chapter contains the song She by Elvis Costello, which inspired me to write this story. I love this song and it could easily apply to the characters in the Inuyasha universe. I don't own Inuyasha.)
She by Elvis Costello
She may be the face I can't forget,
The trace of pleasure or regret,
May be my treasure, or the price I have to pay.
Inuyasha watched as Kikyo handed her little sister some herbs.
She noticed him watching her and smiled. "I love you" she whispered.
She may be the song that summer sings,
May be the chill that autumn brings,
May be a hundred different things,
Within the measure of a day.
Sango pulled Miroku behind a hedge and kissed him for all she was worth.
Then she turned and headed for Suki. Miroku just stood still. Watching her
go, he smiled.
She may be the beauty or the beast,
May be the famine or the feast,
May turn each day into a heaven or a hell.
She may be the mirror of my dreams,
The smile reflected in a stream,
She may not be what she may seem,
Inside her shell.
Suki blushed as Koijii ran a finger over one of her stripes.
"I don't care if you're a demon. I hope you don't care that I'm human"
Kouga brushed his hand away "No way! If I can't have Kagome, I'm definitely
getting Suki. Suki punched him and walked away.
She who always seems so happy in a crowd,
Whose eyes can be so private and so proud,
No one's allowed to see them when they cry.
Inuyasha gagged as his mother kissed him,
but he let her continue hugging him any way.
"I'm so glad you're all right Inuyasha"
Her eyes glittered with tears, but they didn't fall.
Inside them, he saw love and pride.
She may be the love that cannot hope to last,
May come to me from shadows of the past,
That I'll remember till the day I die.
Inuyasha glanced from Kikyo to Kagome,
but his eyes only lingered on Kagome for a moment.
He loved Kikyo after all.
She may be the reason I survive,
The why and wherefore I'm alive,
The one I care for through the rough and ready years.
Kagome wrapped her arms around her knees,
and leaned against Sesshomaru. They sat in the grass.
She'd been watching her friends, but the sunset caught her eye.
Then she looked at Sesshomaru and smiled.
The light filtered through his eyes turning them the color of honey.
Me, I'll take her laughter and her tears,
And make them all my souvenirs,
For where she goes I've got to be,
The meaning of my life is She.
He leaned in and brushed his lips across hers.
He pulled her closer and buried his face in her hair.
She, oh she.
