Sessh didn't have a clue what to do. Should he tell her the truth? What would she say? He didn't want to lie to her, but what choice did he have? Now was not the time to reveal his secrets. He couldn't risk scaring her off. There was a small, nagging voice in the back of his head telling him that Deidre wasn't like that, that it wouldn't bother her. He knew that annoying whisper was right, but he was stubborn and he was going to do this his way. He took a deep breath and smiled. “They don't really mean anything. Call it a youthful indiscretion. I thought they looked bad ass and wanted to piss Daddy off.”
“I'm disappointed in you. I thought you would be above that! Don't you know tattoos are supposed to mean something to the bearer of them? All of my tattoos mean something to me. Every single one of them.” She looked into his eyes and saw something wasn't right. She didn't think he was lying to her, but what was that cloud of something darkening his eyes for?
“Enough of this game. Let's just blurt out whatever's on our minds?” He spat out.
She stared at him quizzically. “Okay. Obviously there's something on yours. Let's hear it.”
“Back to my previous question, then. How many tattoos and piercings do you have?”
“14 piercings and 5 tattoos.”
“Where? I haven't noticed them.” Typical male. Doesn't pay attention to a damn thing.
“9 piercings in my ears, 2 in my eyebrow, my tongue and my nipples. Which you do seem to have noticed.” She winked. “As for tattoos, I have the angel wings with my uncle's initials in them on my lower back, the ankh and the Eye of Horus on the inside of my upper arm, the phoenix on my calf and the Triple Goddess on my inside forearm. I can't believe you missed the phoenix. It's huge. That was my first one. It took four hours to do. Go big or go home, ya know?”
“I genuinely never noticed them. Can I see?” He was doing a good job of leading her off topic. He was so proud of himself. Maybe when the time came to tell her, she wouldn't be so mad about him holding back.
Deidre shrugged and pulled up her left pant leg. “Here's my phoenix. I've always been intrigued by the phoenix's story. Rising from the ashes, born anew. It's a fitting metaphor for my life. Pulling myself from the wreckage and starting again.” She turned around and raised the back of her shirt. “These are my wings for my uncle John. He died right before I started high school. He was the closest thing I had to a father. Words can't even describe how much he means to me. This is my way of honoring him, a permanent tribute. It will stay with me forever.” Dropping her shirt, she spun back around and slid her sleeve out of the way. “Ancient Egyptian mythology has always been one of my interests. The ankh symbolizes eternal life among other things. The Eye of Horus is a symbol of protection. A safe, eternal life. Very comforting.” She finally presented her forearm. “This is the Triple Goddess. Do you know what it is?”
“I can't say that I do.” Sessh had an inkling of an idea, but he wanted her to explain it to him.
“Might as well have this talk now. I'm Wiccan. Neo-Pagan if you will. I won't get into a theology debate right now, but I worship a God and Goddess. The Goddess is thought to have three `forms'; Maiden, Mother and Crone, represented by the stages of the moon. New moon is the Maiden. A girl in her youth, pure and innocent. The full moon is the Mother. Strong and nurturing, she supports the family and raises her children. She is a source of security. Last moon is the Crone. She is wise and noble. Full of knowledge, she helps others on their life paths. Three stages of a woman, each important, each vital. Every woman goes through this cycle, whether they know it or not. The Goddess is the embodiment of the Divine Feminine. She combines all three into the perfect form of `girl power'.” She smiled softly. “She is love.”
He watched in awe as her face relaxed. She seemed so joyful in her revelation. He was glad she had something that had brought her such comfort. “I'm not bothered by your choice of religion. That's something personal that every person has to figure out for themselves. I'm happy you found something to believe in. Many people don't believe in anything.”
She smiled. “You really are a smart guy, you know that?” She was relieved that she didn't freak him out completely. A lot of people were uncomfortable with her beliefs. In fact, it had been a bone of contention with more than a few past relationships. She poured herself yet another drink. “Tell me about your half brother. What's his name?”
Sessh groaned. “You had to go there, didn't you?” Noticing the determined look on her face, he knew he couldn't get out of it. “His name is InuYasha.”
“InuYasha.. That's a mouthful.”
“You could say that. Like I said, we don't really get along. I thought at one time we might repair our relationship. Now I don't know if it's possible.” He sighed.
“What changed your mind? What had made him bearable before?”
“He had found someone. Her name was Kagome. I'll admit that I didn't like her at first, but I grew to admire and respect her. She was good for him. But being the idiot he is, he didn't realize what he had. His mind kept wandering to his first love who reappeared on the scene. Kagome tried to deal with it for a long time. Even her patience had a limit, however. What she had started out dismissing as innocent memories that he would give up turned into something like an obsession. Grasping the fact that it was out of her hands, she left him. Then, he had the cajones to whine like she had done him wrong. I honestly don't know why she put up with him for so long.”
“I know why.” Deidre shrugged. “She loved him.”
Sessh nodded. “I think she still does. She'll call me or Father every now and then, just to see how he's been doing. I don't think she's even dated other people since him. I wish she could move on.”
“I don't think she wants to move on. God, men are so dense. She still loves him. I think she's a beautiful person. She left him so he could be happy with what he thought he wanted. Real love makes sacrifices. And she did just that.” She was impressed with this woman she had never met. It takes a strong woman to give up the one thing you want the most, so the person you love the most can be happy. “I hope I get to meet her one day.”
“I think she would like you. You're both strong, caring people.” He laughed. “And she would enjoy the fact that you have me wrapped around your finger.”
“When you're right, you're right.” Deidre leaned forward and captured his lips. Her kiss was soft, like an apology for earlier. She entwined her fingers into his hair, marveling at how soft it was. He broke their kiss and trailed down her neck. She sighed, wondering how exactly she had caught this one.

His tongue swept over her ear, pulling a soft moan from her mouth. Sessh ran his hands down her arms and grasped her hands. He threaded his fingers through hers and held on. His thumb caressed her hand. The alcohol mixed with the scent of her arousal was intoxicating. He snaked his way back down her neck and nibbled gently. A moan escaped Deidre's mouth and her head tilted back. Releasing her hands and moving towards her mouth again, Sessh began to remove her shirt. Disposing of the garment, he unclasped her bra. Sliding the lingerie down her arms, he threw it to the side. His tongue traced a wet trail down to her breasts, while her hands laced through his mane. Sweet pleasure raced through her veins. “Sessh,” She gasped. “I love you.”
Hearing the words escape her mouth, he groaned. Those words that he had been longing to hear were quite possibly the most arousing thing she could have uttered. Gently pushing her back down to the couch, he moved his ministrations to her peaked nipple. Rolling it in between his teeth, he delighted in her whimpers of pleasure. Looking up into her eyes, he whispered. “Aishiteru, koishii.”
She languidly gazed at him. “What does that mean?”
He smiled at her. “In short, it means I love you, my beloved. The feelings are more intense, however.”
“Koishii.” Her tongue wrapped around the foreign word. “I like it.”
“Good.” Deeming their conversation finished, he returned to her breast. His tongue traced lazy circles around the rounded curve. He moved his way down her stomach, his hands working at her jeans. His excitement grew as he conceived the ways he was going to make her scream his name. Sessh then became aware of the fact that they were still on the couch, with the cat watching them. Picking her up off the couch, he climbed the stairs. “Which one is your room?”
“The one on the left.” Deidre murmured breathlessly. She wrapped her arms around his neck as he turned the doorknob and pushed the door open. An out of place thought fleeted across her brain. “I'm glad I made the bed.” Laughing inwardly, she appreciated the fact that it wouldn't matter in a few minutes. Sessh pushed her tulle bed canopy out of the way and softly deposited her on the downy covers. Gracefully disrobing, he resumed removing her pants and silky thong. He moved atop of her and nuzzled his nose into the crook of her neck. Inhaling her scent, joy rushed through him. Elegant fingers brushed her hair out of her face and he gazed into bright emerald eyes. “I want you near me forever.”
“I want to be there.” She drew closer to him, craving his presence. Making love to him seemed like the most correct thing in the world. She wanted to be tied to him, united with him. “Please, Sessh. Take me, make me yours.”
“With pleasure, koishii.” He saw the small smile dance across her lips. Parting her legs, he moved between them and buried himself in her wet tightness. “Koishii. I love you. Oh, god.” Driving into her, his pleasure grew and a low series of yips and growls escaped his mouth. As they climaxed together, he bit into the juncture of her neck and shoulder. He felt his youki surge through him and he knew what happened. He had just claimed her in the ancient youkai tradition. Knowing full well he'd have to explain everything in the morning, he shrugged the thoughts off and pulled Deidre into his arms. He pressed a kiss to her forehead and mumbled against her skin. “You are precious to me.” Tucking his head above hers, he whispered. “Sleep. We'll talk in the morning.”
Satiated and content, she merely nodded and wrapped around him, her eyes drifting closed. A pain coursed in her shoulder and was quickly replaced by a soothing sensation. Ignoring it, she fell asleep.
