SHiki No Uta
Chapter 1
Kagome stood in the crowd of the club, the music bouncing off the wall. SHe'd been coming here ever since she was about 16, she was now 19, living on her own in a one room apartment. But enough about that, she was nervous, as always before she sang. She didn't know why she got nervous, because she once the music began to flow through her, she would lose herself in it and just let go. Singing was the only thing she could do right. She wasn't really that good at school and wasn't planning on going to college. Her mom was mad at her, because she wanted to pursue her life as a muscician instead of a scholar like her mom. Her mom hadn't completely disowned her, she helped her pay the ren on her one room apartment. The club was unusually packed. She accidently bumped into someone. "Sorry, I didn't see where I was going." she said over the music. It was a girl with long brown hair and red eye shadow. She was gorgeous. "It's all right. The names Sango, and yours?" she asked me. "Kagome, who are you here with?" I asked. "Oh, a couple of my band mates. I can't seem to find them anywhere though." she said over the music. "You're in a band?" I ask, my intrest spiking. I'd always wanted to be a part of a band, but I guess being a solo artist was what I was destined to be. Sango laughed, sipping her drink. "It's not as great as you think. I'm the only girl." she smiled. I nodded my head and smiled. At least she had company. I lived by myself. 'Quite moping about yourself Kagome. You're making a friend.' she scolded herself.
A few minutes Sango and Kagome were chatting like they were old friends. They exchanged numbers and Sango had some how talked Kagome into dancing, something she hasn't done for two years since she'd been coming here. She and Sango wove through the people into the dancing crowd, thumping to the beat as one. Soon, Kagome found herself losing herself in the music and dancing. Bumping hips and laughing and joking with Sango. It felt good to have a friend. Kagome looked down at her watch and pushed the little button to make the face light up. "I have to go, something I gotta do." Kagome slipped away before Sango could even get a word out.
Inuyasha watched Sango talk to the ebony haired girl, she was beautiful. They talked and laughed, Inuyasha could tell the girl must've been nice becasue Sango was warming up to her. She watched them exchanged numbers then Sango drag the protesting girl into the crowd to dance. He chuckled. "Hey Inuyasha, have you seen Sango, I can't find her." said his friend Miroku to him, his fellow bandmate. "Yeah, but she just went dancing with a friend. She'll be back soon." he said. He felt a warm hand wrap around him and jumped. "Oh Inu-koi, you are you so jumpy?" purred his girlfriend Kikyo, but for some odd reason he didn't feel like seeing her right then. He felt guilty immediately, amking himself tear his eyes away from the beautiful girl dancing with Sango. She looked similarly like Kikyo, but he wondered if they were the same. Kikyo reached up and pulled his face towards hers, kissing him softly. He let his eyes close, losing himself in the kiss. Kikyo giggled and pulled him towards the dancefloor. His eyes swept the crowd, all signs of the raven haired beauty gone.
Inuyasha left Kikyo with a pissed of Sango, they really didn't like eachother, but after all that dancing he need to rest. He sat down at the table, panting sightly. He brushed his bangs out of his face and took a big sip of his drink. The club quieted down for a moment, as if this was a nightly thing. Then the club owner walked on stage. "Now as you ladies and gents already know, this beautful song bird has come again to grace us with her beautiful voice." he said motioning to a girl as she walked on stage with her own mic. Inuyasha coughed as he choked on his drink. He heard her soft voice giggle through the mic. "Oh Mr. Tanaka, you flatter me too much. I just love to sing." he heard her voice carry through the speakers. The club goers clapped, as if used to this exchange. "Now, put your hands together for Kagome." he smiled walking off the stage. Kagome, that was her name. The beautiful girl clad in a spegehtti strap v-neck red shirt. With a black skirt that came a few inches above the knees with 3 inch heels. He sighed. Then shook his head. Guilt filled his heart again. He was fantasizing about Kagome, when Kikyo was his girl.
"Thank you, I'll be singing, Shiki No Uta, by Yuria Yato." she said softly. The bass began to strum his strings.
Kagome stood on stage, little beads of sweat beginning to form on her forhead. The strings of the guitar begin to warm up. She began to rock her hips to the beat of the music. She opened her mouth and sung,

Her voice sang out louder then the guitar, then the guitars begin to grow louder adding with the keyboards.

Then the drums joined in. Kagome begin to sing barely singing into the mic the next verse. Making the crowd dance and rock from side to side to the beat. Casting a spell over the crowd

Inuyasha watched Kagome sing, her voice captivating him and pulling him into a trance. His eyes watched her float across the stage. 'Beautiful.' He thought. Her voice was nothing he never heard before. SHe was, nothing he's ever SEEN before.

Kagome's eyes roamed the crowd, unknowingly searching. She didn't know why she did this, no one was going to be out there for her. She sang, pouring her heart out a small smile growing on her face.

Inuyasha sipped his drink watching the girl dance across the stage. Her long and slender legs complimenting her shape. He watched her observe the crowd eyes roaming, they looked to be searching for something. He didn't know what. Then Sango came over out of breath. "Inuyasha she has to be in our band! She's just what we need." she said. Inuyasha nodded. "I have her number." she said. Inuyasha cocked an eyebrow, as if he didn't know. "Good, you could do it. You know I'm not a people person." he said, his eyes straying back to the stage.

Kagome danced across the stage, a broad sexy smile plastered on her face now. She was confident and comfortable up here, the stage was her home. This is what she breathed for, LIVED for. Then it happened, his eyes caught hers. Amber clashed with gray, making both of their hearts skip a beat. Kagome held the last note out, her beautiful voice rising towards the rafters. The crowd went wild, applauding madly. Cat calls went up and Kaogme blushed. She walked off stage back into the crowd, where people patted her on the back and complimented her. She walked over towards the bar to get a soda, her eyes still connecting every once in a while to the stranger with the silver hair, making her heart race and heat pool between her legs. 'Snap out of it Kagome. It's just one man. One fine, sexy, man.' she said to herself, realising she was fighting a loosing battle with her hormones.
Inuyasha watched the girl walk towards the bar, her eyes catching his off and on. Making his heart jump to his throat. Kikyo was the lead singer of their band, but knew, she didn't have anything on Kikyo and Sango was right, they NEEDED her. Sango began to dance to the beat and edge her way towards the crowd again. Inuyasha saw something white fall out of her pocket. He bent over and picked it up and unfolded it. There, was her name and number. Feeling guilty but happy at the same time, he stuffed it into his pocket. He would do this on his own time, no one elses.
"Good job girl!" said the bartender to Kagome handing her a soda. "Thanks." she said as a girl slid into a stool next to her. Kagome stared down into her dark cola, thoughts of the amber eyed stranger filling his head. "They all think you're something special." sneered the girl next to her. "Excuse me?" Kagome shot back. She was finally having a fun night and here came some bitch to ruin it. "You heard me, you'll never be anyone. So why don't you just spare yourself and the world a favor and quit singing, bitch." said the girl, who looked strangely like her. Kagome's gripped on her cup tighgtened. "How about you do yuorself a favor and go put on some fucking clothes you slut." Kagome shot back, fire in her eyes. "My name is Kikyo, you may call me that, but never call me out my name again, Kagome." she sneered at Kagome's name as if it weren't worth anything. Kikyo new that Kaogme could sing better than her, that's why she had to destroy her and her desire, she oculdn't have someone like HER filling her spot in the band!
Kagome stood up her skirt long considering Kikyo's and dumped the brown drink right down the middle of Kikyo's white tube top. "Suck on that, bitch." she said then stormed away. Anger fueling her stride.
Inuyasha watched the whole scene transpire and knew Kikyo must've said some nasty things, but didn't know. Maybe Kagome started the whole thing, he couldn't read lips, and the music was too loud. Kikyo ran over to him pouting. "Did you see what that bitch did?" she screamed. Inuyasha sighed. "C'mon, let's go. I think we all need to go, considering you're all wet and Sango his supporting a drunk Miroku." he sighed, watching the his last glimpse of the girl storming through the club doors a tears falling down her face. He helped Sango carry Miroku and ignored Kikyo ignoring him for not giving her enough attention. But once thing was certain, he was coming back tomorrow night, and the next and the next, just to hear her voice. Kagome's beautiful voice.
Inuyasha sat at the same table as he always did. This was about his 6th time coming here. He didn't know how to apporach Kagome. Just when he thought he was beginning to understand a bit about her from her music, she'd go and chnage to a diffrent style of song. Diffrent notes and stlyes. Low or high, you name the note and she could hit it. Kagome walked up the stairs mic in hand. "Hi everyone," she waved out to the crowd. They clapped and cheered. Kagome pulled a stool out from under the bongo player. "I promise, I'll give it back." she chuckled. Inuyasha's eyes roamed the crowd. Making sure anyone he knew wasn't here. She sat on the stool and put the mic into the stand. "Tonight, I'll be singing Sayanora by Yuria Yato." she smiled. But he knew one thing, Yuria Yato must be her favorite singer, he smiled to himself, proud to have figured somthing out about this wonderful vixen he was to fearful to approach. The music began and she opened her mouth and began to cast he spell over the club.

Kaogme sat on the stool, she looked over the crowd as she sang. She locked eyes once again with the handsome amber eyed stranger. She'd seen him about 6 nights in a row so far. She didn't know who he was or what he wanted. He didn't seem crazy. He seemed to leave when she was done leaving or after she left, sometimes he just stayed the whole night until the club closed, loking as if he was thinking. She held her gaze, her voice growing stronger.

This was diffrent, this night was. Inuyasha felt it was he watched the girl clad in black singing, her eyes locked with his. He had to speak with her tonight, infatuated or not. FInally her gaze broke away. He scanned the crowd one more time, then he had to do a double take. In one of the dark corners, there was Kikyo, HIS Kikyo, kissing some dude! Her leg was wrapped around his waist. Inuyasha pushed himself up off his seat and marched over to them. Tapped Kikyo on the shoudler. "It's over bitch, and you're out of the band." he said as Kagome finished singing. He looked up a the stage. "As a matter of fact, Kagome's replacing you." he said. Kikyo looked livid, her eyes lighting with rage. "Inuyasha, you don't know wha you're talking about." she smiled. "You think I'm joking. Everyone was right, you are just a slut. This is a game to you Kikyo, but it isn't to me." he said then marched away. Leaving a sputtering Kikyo in his wake.
Kagome saw the whole thing, had ACTUALLY heard the whole thing. She walked outside and saw Inuyasha sitting on a bench, his head in his hands. "Hey, are you all right?" she asked, speaking to him for the first time. He looked up at her, his eyes filled with many emotions. So many, Kagome had to choke back a gasp. There was hurt, confusion, reliefm anger, and love? He nodded. "Guess I'll have to find a new girl friend and lead singer. Though the girl part could wait." he chuckled. Kagome walked over and sat down next to him. "If it helps, I think that girl's stupid. She doedn't know what a wonderful guys you are." she smiled at him. He scoffed. "How would you know that. You don't even know my name." he said. "You're right, I don't. But would a mean and thoughtless guy care to come see me sing 6 nights in a row." she said softly, a soft red rising in her cheeks. "Thanks, I guess." he sighed, so many thoughts running through his head. "I didn't know why I came every night. I know it was to hear your voice, but I didn't know why the need was so great. You really do have a talent Kagome." he said. Kagome blushed. "All the guys say that. They're supposed to." Kagome said looking up at the sky, a pained expression coming across her face. "I'm not all guys. I'm Inuyasha by the way, nice metting you." he said.

"Nice finally taking to you." she said, deciding not to add, 'Since I've been thinking about you constantly. Imagining conversations in my head.' "What?" he asked. He obviously must've saw that she was thinking something. A blush rose in her face. "Nothing." she said. "C'mon, spill." he said putting on a girlfriends voice and slapping her leg. She laughed loudly. Inuyasha like her laugh, sounded like tinlking bells.
"Well, you're probably going to think I'm carzy or weird after I tell you this, but I was thinking it was finnaly nice to talk to you. Considering, you've been on my mind since the first time I saw you." she said looking at her toes. "I thought that was only me doing that." he said softly. "Hey Kagome, I know you've met my friends Sango, right?" he asked. Kagome nodded at him. "Well, did she tell you that she was in a band?" he asked. "Yeah, wait I thought she said she was the only girl." she said. Inuyasha laughed. "Oh, Sango doesn't refer to Kikyo as a girl or a person. She calls her 'It'." he chuckled. Kagome giggled. "How would you like to join our band?" he asked. Kagome sucked in her breath. All that she'd ever wanted, was coming true, just becasue of this one conversation. Well not everything, but she was going to be a part of a band! With a hot guy named Inuyasha! "Sure, I'd love to." she exclaimed a large smiled growing on her face her eyes sparkling under the moonlight.
"Great! That's great, um, Sango had yiur number. I'll give you mine. That way whenever your free for rehersals, you could call." he said. Kagome nodded, then gasped rememebring something. "I have the day off tomorrow. I could come over if you would give me your address." Kagome said. "Don;t worry about, I'll call you." Inuyasha sighed. Kagome stood up following Inuyasha. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow." she said. Inuyasha reached down and hugged Kagome. Elctric shock surging through him and through Kagome. They pulled away slowly looking at eachother. "Did you...feel that?" she whispered. Inuyasha nodded, looking down at he plump lips, then unconciously leaned down and kissed her. He was pleased when she didn't pull away but kissed him back. The door slammed closed. "Inuyasha!" came a shrill voice. They pulled apart, their faces both red. "I'll see you." she whispered then took off and ran down the street towards her apartment a few blocks away. She heard the voices of arguing as she ran. She turned and saw Inuyasha shaking his head and walking away from Kikyo who was stomping here feet. "Kagome! You'll pay!" she screamed down the street.
Kagome didn't stop until she was inside her wamr cozy apartment she had just finished painsting. She locked all her locks and slid down to sit on the floor, her hand going to her lips, where they still buzzed with the tingle from his lips. She crawled over and laid next to her cat Buyo(sp?) and began to pet him, loosing herself in the thought of that one kiss.

Kagome danced across the stage, a broad sexy smile plastered on her face now. She was confident and comfortable up here, the stage was her home. This is what she breathed for, LIVED for. Then it happened, his eyes caught hers. Amber clashed with gray, making both of their hearts skip a beat. Kagome held the last note out, her beautiful voice rising towards the rafters. The crowd went wild, applauding madly. Cat calls went up and Kaogme blushed. She walked off stage back into the crowd, where people patted her on the back and complimented her. She walked over towards the bar to get a soda, her eyes still connecting every once in a while to the stranger with the silver hair, making her heart race and heat pool between her legs. 'Snap out of it Kagome. It's just one man. One fine, sexy, man.' she said to herself, realising she was fighting a loosing battle with her hormones.
Inuyasha watched the girl walk towards the bar, her eyes catching his off and on. Making his heart jump to his throat. Kikyo was the lead singer of their band, but knew, she didn't have anything on Kikyo and Sango was right, they NEEDED her. Sango began to dance to the beat and edge her way towards the crowd again. Inuyasha saw something white fall out of her pocket. He bent over and picked it up and unfolded it. There, was her name and number. Feeling guilty but happy at the same time, he stuffed it into his pocket. He would do this on his own time, no one elses.
"Good job girl!" said the bartender to Kagome handing her a soda. "Thanks." she said as a girl slid into a stool next to her. Kagome stared down into her dark cola, thoughts of the amber eyed stranger filling his head. "They all think you're something special." sneered the girl next to her. "Excuse me?" Kagome shot back. She was finally having a fun night and here came some bitch to ruin it. "You heard me, you'll never be anyone. So why don't you just spare yourself and the world a favor and quit singing, bitch." said the girl, who looked strangely like her. Kagome's gripped on her cup tighgtened. "How about you do yuorself a favor and go put on some fucking clothes you slut." Kagome shot back, fire in her eyes. "My name is Kikyo, you may call me that, but never call me out my name again, Kagome." she sneered at Kagome's name as if it weren't worth anything. Kikyo new that Kaogme could sing better than her, that's why she had to destroy her and her desire, she oculdn't have someone like HER filling her spot in the band!
Kagome stood up her skirt long considering Kikyo's and dumped the brown drink right down the middle of Kikyo's white tube top. "Suck on that, bitch." she said then stormed away. Anger fueling her stride.
Inuyasha watched the whole scene transpire and knew Kikyo must've said some nasty things, but didn't know. Maybe Kagome started the whole thing, he couldn't read lips, and the music was too loud. Kikyo ran over to him pouting. "Did you see what that bitch did?" she screamed. Inuyasha sighed. "C'mon, let's go. I think we all need to go, considering you're all wet and Sango his supporting a drunk Miroku." he sighed, watching the his last glimpse of the girl storming through the club doors a tears falling down her face. He helped Sango carry Miroku and ignored Kikyo ignoring him for not giving her enough attention. But once thing was certain, he was coming back tomorrow night, and the next and the next, just to hear her voice. Kagome's beautiful voice.
Inuyasha sat at the same table as he always did. This was about his 6th time coming here. He didn't know how to apporach Kagome. Just when he thought he was beginning to understand a bit about her from her music, she'd go and chnage to a diffrent style of song. Diffrent notes and stlyes. Low or high, you name the note and she could hit it. Kagome walked up the stairs mic in hand. "Hi everyone," she waved out to the crowd. They clapped and cheered. Kagome pulled a stool out from under the bongo player. "I promise, I'll give it back." she chuckled. Inuyasha's eyes roamed the crowd. Making sure anyone he knew wasn't here. She sat on the stool and put the mic into the stand. "Tonight, I'll be singing Sayanora by Yuria Yato." she smiled. But he knew one thing, Yuria Yato must be her favorite singer, he smiled to himself, proud to have figured somthing out about this wonderful vixen he was to fearful to approach. The music began and she opened her mouth and began to cast he spell over the club.

Kaogme sat on the stool, she looked over the crowd as she sang. She locked eyes once again with the handsome amber eyed stranger. She'd seen him about 6 nights in a row so far. She didn't know who he was or what he wanted. He didn't seem crazy. He seemed to leave when she was done leaving or after she left, sometimes he just stayed the whole night until the club closed, loking as if he was thinking. She held her gaze, her voice growing stronger.

This was diffrent, this night was. Inuyasha felt it was he watched the girl clad in black singing, her eyes locked with his. He had to speak with her tonight, infatuated or not. FInally her gaze broke away. He scanned the crowd one more time, then he had to do a double take. In one of the dark corners, there was Kikyo, HIS Kikyo, kissing some dude! Her leg was wrapped around his waist. Inuyasha pushed himself up off his seat and marched over to them. Tapped Kikyo on the shoudler. "It's over bitch, and you're out of the band." he said as Kagome finished singing. He looked up a the stage. "As a matter of fact, Kagome's replacing you." he said. Kikyo looked livid, her eyes lighting with rage. "Inuyasha, you don't know wha you're talking about." she smiled. "You think I'm joking. Everyone was right, you are just a slut. This is a game to you Kikyo, but it isn't to me." he said then marched away. Leaving a sputtering Kikyo in his wake.
Kagome saw the whole thing, had ACTUALLY heard the whole thing. She walked outside and saw Inuyasha sitting on a bench, his head in his hands. "Hey, are you all right?" she asked, speaking to him for the first time. He looked up at her, his eyes filled with many emotions. So many, Kagome had to choke back a gasp. There was hurt, confusion, reliefm anger, and love? He nodded. "Guess I'll have to find a new girl friend and lead singer. Though the girl part could wait." he chuckled. Kagome walked over and sat down next to him. "If it helps, I think that girl's stupid. She doedn't know what a wonderful guys you are." she smiled at him. He scoffed. "How would you know that. You don't even know my name." he said. "You're right, I don't. But would a mean and thoughtless guy care to come see me sing 6 nights in a row." she said softly, a soft red rising in her cheeks. "Thanks, I guess." he sighed, so many thoughts running through his head. "I didn't know why I came every night. I know it was to hear your voice, but I didn't know why the need was so great. You really do have a talent Kagome." he said. Kagome blushed. "All the guys say that. They're supposed to." Kagome said looking up at the sky, a pained expression coming across her face. "I'm not all guys. I'm Inuyasha by the way, nice metting you." he said.
Kagome looked back at him, he had long silver hair and bright amber eyes, that periced the soul. "Nice finally taking to you." she said, deciding not to add, 'Since I've been thinking about you constantly. Imagining conversations in my head.' "What?" he asked. He obviously must've saw that she was thinking something. A blush rose in her face. "Nothing." she said. "C'mon, spill." he said putting on a girlfriends voice and slapping her leg. She laughed loudly. Inuyasha like her laugh, sounded like tinlking bells.
"Well, you're probably going to think I'm carzy or weird after I tell you this, but I was thinking it was finnaly nice to talk to you. Considering, you've been on my mind since the first time I saw you." she said looking at her toes. "I thought that was only me doing that." he said softly. "Hey Kagome, I know you've met my friends Sango, right?" he asked. Kagome nodded at him. "Well, did she tell you that she was in a band?" he asked. "Yeah, wait I thought she said she was the only girl." she said. Inuyasha laughed. "Oh, Sango doesn't refer to Kikyo as a girl or a person. She calls her 'It'." he chuckled. Kagome giggled. "How would you like to join our band?" he asked. Kagome sucked in her breath. All that she'd ever wanted, was coming true, just becasue of this one conversation. Well not everything, but she was going to be a part of a band! With a hot guy named Inuyasha! "Sure, I'd love to." she exclaimed a large smiled growing on her face her eyes sparkling under the moonlight.
"Great! That's great, um, Sango had yiur number. I'll give you mine. That way whenever your free for rehersals, you could call." he said. Kagome nodded, then gasped rememebring something. "I have the day off tomorrow. I could come over if you would give me your address." Kagome said. "Don;t worry about, I'll call you." Inuyasha sighed. Kagome stood up following Inuyasha. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow." she said. Inuyasha reached down and hugged Kagome. Elctric shock surging through him and through Kagome. They pulled away slowly looking at eachother. "Did you...feel that?" she whispered. Inuyasha nodded, looking down at he plump lips, then unconciously leaned down and kissed her. He was pleased when she didn't pull away but kissed him back. The door slammed closed. "Inuyasha!" came a shrill voice. They pulled apart, their faces both red. "I'll see you." she whispered then took off and ran down the street towards her apartment a few blocks away. She heard the voices of arguing as she ran. She turned and saw Inuyasha shaking his head and walking away from Kikyo who was stomping here feet. "Kagome! You'll pay!" she screamed down the street.
Kagome didn't stop until she was inside her wamr cozy apartment she had just finished painsting. She locked all her locks and slid down to sit on the floor, her hand going to her lips, where they still buzzed with the tingle from his lips. She crawled over and laid next to her cat Buyo(sp?) and began to pet him, loosing herself in the thought of that one kiss.
