InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Shikon no Tama: Inuyasha's voice ❯ Unshed tears are shed ( Chapter 1 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Inuyasha stood at the edge of the village while his friends finished properly dressing their wounds. They had finally done it. Naraku was dead. All the pieces of the shikon jewel were intact and even the one that Kohaku had was back. Kohaku was alive and no longer under Naraku's spell. And so he had rejoined his sister with all his memories recovered.
Letting out a huge sigh, he turned and set off on a walk to the bone eater's well. He hadn't spoken to anyone since he'd lifted his claw and ripped the demon's human heart out. Now he had to choose whether he was to be full demon or not. He had told a woman he had once thought he loved that he would be a human for her, but now he didn't want or need to be. Kikyo was dead. Naraku had killed her when she had not agreed to join him, and for some strange reason, Inuyasha wasn't all that upset. Sure it was a little bit sad that she was gone, but in the end, it hadn't really fazed him. The only reason he had transformed to begin with was because...
"Kagome...it was because...of Kagome..." he spoke softly to himself. They were his first words at all since that day. Was it really only 5 days ago?

Naraku hid behind his castle walls, as Kagura and Kanna tried to stop Inuyasha's arrival. With all the strength and anger he had in him, it was to easy to draw his sword and slice them in half only using one arm, as Sango, Miroku, Kirara and Shippou followed them in. waiting for the inevitable, Naraku felt a small tinge of fear at what the hanyou did. He was trying to piss Inuyasha off by kidnapping the girl but maybe he'd gone to far by stripping her clothes off and leaving them in the hut he took her from while they slept...she was clothed of course, in a kimono that reeked of his own scent, being that it was his own. He had a human heart and as much as he enjoyed feeling pleasure for beating her up and slashing her wrists and gagging her, he couldn't kill her. He'd killed the other miko without hesitation, but the great demon Naraku had actually been attracted to this young girl and felt a tinge of sadness he'd have to kill her. But then again he can't. He was Naraku and could not feel sympathy for anyone, as part of his nature, reputation, and own self image. Reaching over to the unconscious girl he pushed her hair away and ran a sharp claw on her jaw feeling a satisfying warmth come to his fingers as he sliced open her skin and withdrew his hand to lick her blood off his finger. Sweet as candy.
Inuyasha came up to his personal barrier and broke free of the hold against him. Smelling Kagome and a strong aroma of Naraku's scent on her, he angrily burst through the door where Naraku sat with Kagome sprawled on his lap. He had never been so hurt to see her under another man's hand as he scanned her bruised body, which wasn't as covered as he wanted it to be… and not with Naraku's clothes at all! Her blood was covering the floor and half-demon that'd harmed her. Heat rose up into his body, and unknown hatred had swelled his brain. He had hated Naraku, but not this much. Every fiber of his being shook with anger and blame as he lived his whole life under the same emotions. He had grown up in fear, hate, anger, and segregation. He did not fit in anywhere and had no friends until Kagome freed him from that tree. She had taught him to laugh, and smile, and have fun and feel like he had a purpose. Now Naraku took away his one prize in life, his best friend and comfort, and he was gonna pay.
Inuyasha closed his golden orbs tightly, clenched his fists to the point of piercing his own flesh with his claws, biting down hard on his gums, breathing in heavily and feeling suffocated. The next minute his red eyes snapped open, and the purple stripes on his cheeks burned. He couldn't think any thing straight and all he saw was a girl and a man and he screamed a snarl at him of "MINE!!!!!!!!" and ran at him slicing his claws on a surprised Naraku's face and knocking him on his back. With all his body still shaking, the transformed hanyou picked up the woman and let out yet another bloodcurdling howl of "KAGOME MINE!!!!!!!!!!" as he held her bridal style. Naraku stood and his face dripped with black blood, his look of shock not yet wiped away. Poor Kagome looked up at a very angry Inuyasha who held her tight to his chest, bridal-style. Her eyes widened at how much her body hurt and she saw numerous cuts and bruises on her body. Naraku seemed to be over his shock, and regenerated as Inuyasha ran at him. Kagome squeaked and somehow Inuyasha managed to shift her in his arms so that she was held in one arm but still bridal style with her back on his upper arm and shoulder and her face buried in his chest. Suddenly a hand drew up and then dived in to a chest. The hurt man froze, and then fell to his knees. The hand pulled out and dived back in deeper, the intoxicating smell of miasma burst through the air, but the hand just shoved in deeper to the internal organs...or where there should be internal organs. Then the hand clasped onto something and ripped it out.
Inuyasha stood, out of his transformation, holding a large black heart, the veins and various cords of flesh that stilled trailed into a stunned Naraku's body. No color shown in his eyes as Inuyasha squeezed the heart and threw it out into the courtyard where Sango and Miroku attacked the heart, as it tried to go back to its body. Sango knocked it out of the air with her hiraikotsu and Miroku sucked it up into his wind tunnel as Shippou threw it to him. Then Inuyasha drew his sword again and brought it down on a Naraku that looked so...pitiful. And it was done...Naraku, the demon who caused so much pain, torture, and death, was he himself, dead.

Inuyasha came out of his trance and looked up at the bone eater's well. He had no idea what he was going to do now…climbing to the ledge of the well he jumped down into it...

Kagome smiled as she finished putting the bandage on Shippou's cheek. He had fallen down on the way back. Sango began to button up her shirt as Miroku sneaked a look over at her from the corner of the room. Sango noticed but instead of stomping over there and smacking him as usual, she looked at Kagome. Kagome looked back and Sango winked. Kagome realized she was gonna try something they had talked about earlier that week. Kagome nodded with the same evil grin Sango had. Kohaku and Shippou looked over at the three older friends with interest.
“Are you ever gonna grow up?” she asked him from across the room.
Miroku smiled as he said “nope.”
Sango crawled across the floor to Miroku who had flung his arms up into his face and squinted back at her as she unbuttoned the first one on her shirt. She leaned into Miroku's face, placing a hand on his cheek, earning a flinch.
Then she smiled sweetly as she said, “Why don't you show us how immature you are then? Why don't you have a little fun with a girl who finally saw the man she hated most dead and got her life back? Why not try and have fun with a girl who really wants to…” she reached out and took his hand the placed it on her shoulder, “celebrate?” she asked seductively.
Smiling she just looked at him expectantly and waited. The monk felt a strong urge to plunge his hand between her welcoming breasts, but he couldn't move. He looked to Kagome for help, but she only gave a smile as sweet as Sango's as she began her own crawl towards him. Miroku's face turned scarlet, and he began to sweat, his hair dampened and stuck to his forehead. Kagome reached them and took Miroku's other hand and placed it on her shoulder as well, then touched his other cheek that Sango wasn't holding. He closed his eyes fast. The girls giggled and closed in…Miroku got frantic! What was he gonna do?? He really wanted to touch them, but this was too weird! THEY were coming on to HIM! He did it of his own accord and only because they didn't want him to. That's what made it so fun!
Suddenly he felt a hand slide off his cheek and down his neck…to his chest…
He couldn't take it! He opened his eyes and saw Sango less than an inch from his face and her eyes closed. She wasn't really gonna…?? Kagome's hand was gone, she was on the other side of the room, and the poor kids stared in astonishment as Sango barely let her lips touch his, and then she felt him get weak and fall into her lap.
She burst out laughing with Kagome as she slid out from underneath him.
“Sango, that was so mean! You didn't even let him really kiss you!” Kagome said between laughs. Her face was red and she could hardly breathe. Sango was just as breathless as she stuttered, “Serves…him right! Now he knows…how it…feels! Hahaha!!!”
When they finally stopped laughing, Miroku asked, “are you ever gonna grow up?”
Sango really did smack him this time…on his ass! She laughed again as she said “nope!”
They all started laughing, even the red faced Miroku, rubbing his rear at her hard handprint…
“Hey, where's Inuyasha?” Kagome asked putting an end to the laughter.
“I saw him leave this morning after we all ate breakfast,” Kohaku chirped. Sango saw his red face then buttoned her shirt and walked over to him and held him in a tight embrace. She loved how she could hug him all the time now. He even hugged her back this time, burying his face in her stomach. He loved his sister.
Miroku watched with a sad longing he could do the same, and then he turned to Kagome.
“Why don't you go and look for him? He is probably in need of a good talk.”
Kagome looked at her clothes. She only wore Inuyasha's fire-rat haori. She needed to go home and get her clothes as well as wash ther blood off her body and his clothes.
“Okay. I'll be back soon. Don't go anywhere ok? See you later.”
They waved bye and she set out for the bone eater's well.
`Inuyasha has been ignoring all of us lately…I wonder if he is mad or just upset…' she thought.
He had been so angry at her being harmed by Naraku. She reached her hand up to her jaw and felt the large scab. She walked on remembering how they all had come to save her…how Inuyasha had transformed…and how she dreamed he had called her his…
Warm liquid traveled down her palm as she looked into her hand to see blood. She must have been picking at it. She felt the cut again to notice her finger actually slide in. Shocked at the pain and deepness of the cut, she hoped her mom wouldn't tell her she needed stitches.
She climbed down the bone eater's well and then out again into her own time. The shrine was quiet and she sensed the jewel somewhere. Not realizing anything she ignored it and walked up to the house where she took off her shoes and headed for the bathroom. She didn't even say hi to her mother. But no one was home anyway. She rinsed off the grime and blood, forgetting the gash under her jaw bone. She washed her hair and just for the feeling of total cleanliness, shaved her legs. She had to be careful of the scabs and bruises. She was the most banged up of everyone, even Inuyasha. She dried off and felt the blood still running down her neck. Wrapping her hair in the towel and another towel around her body, she held her palm to her jaw and walked out down the hall to her room. As she opened the door, she didn't notice the hanyou sitting on the roof outside her open window. She just closed the door and let the breeze hit her still damp neck. Reaching into her drawers she pulled out her favorite pair of panties, the pink ones with little doggy paws on it, and the word “inu” written in hiragana in the middle on the front. Letting the towel drop, she clumsily pulled them on with one hand as she held the other towel to the gushing cut. It started to stop bleeding and she let air get on it as she hastily scrubbed her head with the towel to dry her hair. She let that towel fall to the ground as well, and she opened her closet to find some clothes. She chose her brand new dress that she got as a gift from her friends for a get well party she was never at. She sighed and slipped it on over her head. It was red and it buttoned up like sango's demon exterminator outfit did. Then she slipped her city sneaks on; they were her favorite shoes, all soft on the inside, and the outside made of white leather and a 3-inch platform. She decided to let her hair dry in a pony tail, so she combed it back and tied it really high with a pink fluffy scrunchi(AN: can't spell that…).
Inuyasha had been watching her and slipped in through her window squatting on the floor in his famous sitting dog pose. He cocked his head to the side as he took in her appearance. She looked so pretty. And smelled so good. But she always smelled good just not as strong as now. Kagome still didn't notice him and she walked over to her calendar by her dresser. Sighing once again, only much louder, she looked at the big red circle marking today. It was 11:30 in the morning and no one was home. She didn't know where Inuyasha was or why he hadn't been talking to her. And she figured that she was so caught up in other things, and that her family was too, that she was stupid to have forgotten today. Opening the top drawer she took out a jewelry box and held the lid open. Smiling painfully, she took out a tiny pink bracelet with her name on it. From the hospital she was born in. She took out another bracelet that she wore every year. Slipping on the silver bracelet, she felt her eyes sting and Inuyasha sensed her sadness as well. He stood and began to walk to her as she closed her eyes letting her tears fall.
“Happy…birthday to me…”
Inuyasha froze.
“Happy birthday…to me”
She began to shake and slowly sink to her knees
“Happy birthday…dear...k-kago...me”
She broke and cried even more…
