Kagome slowly roused from her nourishing sleep to the growing shadows across the dim room. She sat up slowly, balancing herself upon one arm. Drowsily, she rubbed her eyes as she thought, `Its night.'

Slowly, she glanced around the room. `Just how long have I been asleep?' Swinging her legs out from beneath herself, she slid off the bed onto the thick turkish carpet.

Her stomach growled ravenously, and she touched it in mortification. `I'm sure that was heard for miles around,' she thought as she tiptoed down the circular stairs. `I am hungry though.'' “Sesshomaru?" she called in a small voice as she neared the spacious kitchen. "I..."

She trailed off as she entered the room. Upon the island, there were a bevy of dishes displayed from steamed eel and squid to an assortment of side dishes. He entered the kitchen opposite from where she now stood.

She turned her head at his entry, a small smile upon her face. "Is all of this for me," she asked low. He simply nodded slowly. "Thank you," she said. She noted the red-orange plate he had set aside for her and picked up one of the cartons.

She heaped the food upon her plate and set it upon the thick glass table. He walked towards the table and sat down in the chair he had occupied earlier that day.

She looked at him beguilingly. "You must have read my mind." His eyes gazed at her with an inner amusement. She lowered her eyes to her plate feeling a pleasant warmth engulf her body. She began eating, and he continued to watch her.

After several minutes, she looked up at him. "I'm sorry I fell asleep on you." He inclined his head. "You needed to rest." She tilted her head to the side her eyes soft. "I'll have to make it up to you." He looked directly into her eyes, his own glowing. "You will."

She felt a thrill when he said those words. `His voice is so seductive.'' She put down her chopsticks. He spoke then, his gaze casual. "Are you finished?" She nodded slowly.

"I wish to go outside." He stood as she pushed her chair back on the golden wood floor, and allowed her to walk in front of him toward the patio. The chirp of the crickets surrounded in a melodic hum as the two walked outside.

They walked across the green lawns, side by side in a comfortable silence as she alternately gazed upward at the night sky and the damp grass below. After kicking a small pebble, she said with a small laugh, “My mother seems to think that my staying with you is a good thing.”

His eyes were trained on the forrest ahead. “Your mother is a remarkable woman,” he said mildly as they reached the edge of the dark depth. “She is,” she said lovingly. They were now surrounded in near complete darkness, the only light the tiny pockets of moonbeams showing between the break in the forrest depths.

“Wait,” she said, his answer giving her pause, “how do you know,” she asked, tilting her head toward him. As they passed near a pocket of light, she could see his slightly amused countenance. “I've met your mother before,” he said casually.

“You did? When? Why?” The only thing she could see now were the lights from his golden eyes shining in the darkness, and her pulse sped up perceptively.

“Because. I desired to speak with her,” he said in a tone which let her know he wouldn't tell her anything more at this time. She leaned her back against the basin of a large tree. “Sesshomaru,” she murmured softly.

A breeze caused a break in the branches of the swaying trees where the moon shone through and she could now see him several feet away from her, gazing at her with his eyes very bright, before it all went dark again. “Yes,” he said faintly.

Her heart sped up slightly. She could feel him near her but how close she couldn't say. She saw his eyes, now glowing amber and blue before her "Where did you go after I fell asleep," she asked lowering her eyes; his eyes when like that were mesmerizing.

He was slow in answering and then she felt his nose near her nape, but his body was not touching her. "Here. To hunt," he said piercing her slightly with his fangs. Her legs quivered and he smiled against her flesh; he knew her apprehension and sexual desire would be at war, heightening her pleasure.

She shifted and bit her lip slightly so she wouldn't cry out. "To hunt,” she said softly inhaling as his hands finally cupped around her back. “Is that how you feed?"

He supressed his slight feeling of apprehension. “Yes,” he slowly as he bit down enough to draw a few drops of blood that welled up slowly and broke through her skin as she shuddered at the immensely erotic sensation. "Does that displease you?" he asked as he licked the spot delicately.

Her heart pounding furiously at the raw sensation and pleasurable apprehension he created within her, she flicked her eyes open and gazed into his. "Not at all."

He gazed at her seriously for a moment, and then his corner of his mouth turned upward. “Hmm,” he said, “Let us continue.”

“Where are we going,” she asked breathily. He pulled away and stepped back as he said, “No where in particular.” She nodded. “Okay.”

They began walking once more, she with some difficulty because she could barely see in front of her. They had walked a short time when Kagome heard a thudding sound nearby and she clutched his sleeve nervously. “What is that,” she said going very still. He said nothing but simply waited.

A shift in the trees above and the filter of moonlight revealed the creature, it was a small kitsune vixen who gazed at the two of them wide eyed before hurrying on with her pups. “How sweet,” she murmured as she watched them pass. “Reminds me of Shippo.”

She leaned her head against his shoulder. “Tired,” he asked inquisitively. “Nope. Just following you,” she said. He peered at her for a second and seemed satisfied. “We will return to the house.”

They exited from the woods after a few minutes, emerging from the cover of branches that he flicked up absently.

She followed him silently, contemplatively, wondering if there was a greater purpose to this late night trek. The moon bathed the castle in a silvery-blue sliver of light, and it gleamed in the night. `So pretty.'

She stopped, her eyes widening as the realization hit her that he had opened up to her, allowing her to see another facet of him, another side. He had allowed her to see for herself his private nightly trek, something that he prefered to keep to himself. He was giving her permission to follow him if she wished.

“Coming,” he called imperiously over his shoulder, the aloofness returning. She smiled faintly. “Yes.”

They reentered the house, she following him contemplatively up the winding stair case. Upon entering the bedroom, Kagome sat upon the edge of the bed thoughtfully. Sesshomaru paused as he said, “I am going to take a shower now.”

He flicked a switch to make a television rise out of the end of the bed. She turned her head in surprise. “I didn't know you watch television.”

“Only occasionally,” he said throwing a towel over his shoulder. “I'll return shortly.” She nodded and turned to the Anime network.

He allowed the heat of the shower to cascade over his body as he thought of what had passed during the day, her reaction to their trek in the woods, and his mouth curled in a smile. `She had no idea how close she came,' he thought pleased.

He exited the shower and dried himself, then picked up his hair brush as he left the room. She looked up as he reentered, as he combed through the strands of his hair, and she was overtaken by an extreme desire to touch it herself.

As he walked over to the dresser, she asked quietly, “Can i do that?” He paused from grabbing a bottle of lotion inquisitively, then nodded. He sat upon the bed and handed the brush to her.

She began brushing his hair, softly, marveling at its texture. He had the softest hair she had ever touched; it was nearly impossible to keep her hands from it. She contemplated the contrast that was him; he was a person of indomitable strength and ability, yet he possessed the softest skin, pelt and hair.

The touch of her hands in his hair as she rubbed his scalp was undeniably soothing. He made no outward movement but for lowering his eyes a bit, and eying the television for some time. Then he spoke. “This is what you watch on television,” he asked, looking in curiosity as two samurais were battling it out in the Feudal Era.

She laughed shyly. “I find it interesting, I guess because for a time that era was my life. Its a play on the time period,” she said gently. She liked the way his ear flickered every time she touched him.

She picked up the lotion and as she sat before him, reached beneath his arm to rub lotion upon his back “Two guys traveling with one girl. One is a wild card, passionate, unpredictable, the other cold, calculated, contained,” she said softly.

His eyes grew dark and he took his index finger and trailed it across the cleft of her chin. “Which is your preference,” he asked quietly, his eyes dancing with intensity.

“There are differences that draw you to them both,” she said, placing her hands against his chest and rubbing the last of the lotion on him.

“They are both intriguing, different like the sun and the moon. But the contained one is the one with the deep, hidden passion. He is the most fascinating.” His eyes lowered and were now catlike. “Interesting,” was all he said before he grasped her hand upon his chest. "Turn over," he said low. “We have to finish what we started.”

She did so slowly, her body shivering in anticipation. He pulled his t-shirt off of her shoulders and over her head as he exposed her back, his eyes sweeping admirably over her curves.

After gently kneading her back for a few moments to relax her, he slowly ran the tips of his claws against her skin, smiling at her intake of breath. He skimmed his hand across the baby soft skin before he placed a kiss upon the base of her neck.

She started at the delicious sensation, and as she looked over her shoulder their eyes met. He looked away and began to trail kisses across her shoulder blades. Her skin tingled, and a warm glow slowly formed within her belly. As he licked the skin around the lowest part of her spine, she inhaled softly.

Over and over again, he bathed her with his tongue, kissing her entire back. As he began to trail kisses upward , he lay full against her as he pushed the hair over her shoulder and nipped the area with his fangs. She whimpered and lifted her head so that she could lean further into his mouth.

He lifted himself from her and after pressing his palm into her shoulder, he turned her over. Her eyes were soft as he began untying the robe and her beautiful body fell open to his gaze.

She in turn, tugged at his pants until they slid completely off his frame. Her body flushed as she looked at him, and he laughed silently.

With glowing amber eyes, he bent and kissed each of her nipples, his hands cupping the small of her back, gently kneading her. She tilted her face up and began kissing across the great expanse of his chest and abdominals, and his eyes were now narrowed into slits from the pleasurable sensation.

As she slid her hand to the very tip of his pelvis, his body shot up immediately, and their eyes met. He then turned his attentions to her soft ears as a form of discipline for himself. His desire, which he had been holding in check to completely see to her pleasure, now was very obvious.

His eyes grew dark, their lights now a deep amber and a surge began in his body. He lowered his mouth to the sliver of bone that made up her collar and bit down. She whimpered and the sound reverbated in his ears; it, coupled with the want he could feel emanating from her enthralled him. His eyes glinted as he soothed the spot where his fang pierced her.

She could stand no more, from his caresses earlier in the day before she slept, to the erotic minutes in the forrest, to now were more than enough to bear. His energy began pouring off of him in waves, flooding over her body in a warm caress. She shivered as he gently parted her thighs and as he pulled her to him to kiss her lips and entered her body, she sighed.

"I hope its always like this."

She smiled as she remembered that, as she sat upon the couch outside studying while he was at the office that day. The past few days had been so wonderful that she barely considered anything else. She had managed to avoid her friends those two days a week when she appeared in class, returning quickly to him.

She frowned at the difficult problem and closed the book with a slight sigh of annoyance. “Something amiss,” he asked as he came behind her, barely containing his grin as she leapt out of her chair.

“You scared me,” she said with a pretend grimace of annoyance as she grasped at her chest. “My mistake,” he murmured before sitting upon the immaculate leather couch at the edge of the covered patio, “I almost had a heart attack,” she said huffily, balling up her hands as she stalked over to where he now sat.

He reached out, grasping her wrist and pulling her to him to rest on top of his warm lap. Her breath caught in her throat as he threaded her hair in his claws, gently pushing it to the side and exposing the soft and fragrant nape of her neck. “Calm down,” he said as he placed a lingering kiss there, and she felt a glow, deep and warm within. She laughed. “Okay.”

She lay against him quietly, contentedly, with her head against the warm expanse of his chest. A feeling of contentment permeated her thoughts as she lay enshrouded in the security of his arms.

"Sesshomaru?" she asked after silence pervaded for some time, tilting her head back to look at him. She puzzled at the momentary sadness within his golden depths but it quickly disappeared.

“Yes,” he asked quietly. “I need food,” she said with a laugh. “What would you like,” he asked. “You said you would come with me to get some.” “I did,” he acknowledged. “We will go now.”

The car had delivered them to the supermarket where they walked among the isles breezily ignoring the inevitable stares that tended to follow Sesshomaru.

“Can you eat this,” she asked, holding up some seafood. “Yes.” “Good, I'll make you some..” He nodded.

“I'm glad you came,” she said with a smile. “Its still pretty strange for me to see you out and about,” she said as she put the items in the cart.

“Is this all you need,” he said as they approached the check out line.

“Yep.”

They checked out and walked to the limo where the items were being put in the car.

“I must go into the tailors for a moment,” he said after looking down at his watch. “I'll come,” she said walking behind him. As he entered the shop she heard the squeal of giggling girls, and heard Kagome's low, mortified, “Oh no.”

She shut the door quickly behind him comically and turned around quickly. A trace of a smile upturned his lips as he continued on and met with his tailor, Mister Kuro.

“What are you doing here,” Ayume asked curiously as the girls cornered her.

“Where have you been,” asked Eri. “Jin's been asking about you.”

“Oh, I've been sort of busy,” she said, looking around desperately trying to divert their attention away from the shop.

“Oh, us too, we're going to meet Yuka and the guys right now. Hey, why don't you come with us,” Ayume asked as she absently fixed her hair in the glare of the window.

“I'm in the middle of something,” Kagome said quickly, “maybe another time.”

“Cool. We're going out on Friday, we'll call you,” Eri said. “Hey, whatever happened to the guy you were at the festival with? I hope Jin doesn't have a reason to be jealous.”

“Oh, um, well...”

“Okay, well, we've gotta go, or else we'll be late. Call us,” Ayume said over her shoulder as they left.

She breathed a sigh of relief as they left. If Yuka was there, she'd never have had a chance.

She smiled as he came to the door once more. “Ready?”

“Yes,” he said. “Let us go.”

They began the short trek to the car. She felt a twinge of annoyance as she realized that the women in the street literally stopped in their tracks to gape at him. He had quite a following by the time they neared the car, and he didn't even appear to notice.

As they neared the car, a group of college girls eyed him hungrily while boldly snubbing her. She stared back just as pointedly and then entered the car.

As they drove away, she stared silently out the window. “I trust your meeting with your friends went well,” he asked gazing at her. “Hmm? Oh, yeah, they were just going to hang out.”

His lips turned upward. “You needn't have been so nervous. I would have been quite nice.” She raised her brows. “Really? Its just a lot easier keeping them in the dark,” she said distractedly. Then she lapsed into silence all the way home.

After placing the assortment of crab within the pot and preparing them, she sat down upon the patio while waiting for the cakes to cook.

Those girls staring at Sesshomaru brought back her worst insecurities, the feelings she felt most pointedly when InuYasha fell into his moods about Kikyo. She wondered if InuYasha ever fully realized how much it hurt her when he went off looking for her. `I don't want to go through that again.'

Sesshomaru soon was there, sitting down beside her, and their eyes met for a brief moment before she lay her head down upon his lap contemplatively.

“Is something the matter,” he asked as he stroked the curtain of black hair. She shook her head slowly. “No.”

He wasn't convinced. “You are sure,” he asked once more, turning her over so that she now faced him. “You seem preoccupied,” he said tracing a finger over the delicate wing of her brow.

He was being so very attentive, as always. `I have no reason to feel like this. He didn't even notice those girls. I shouldn't let them bother me. But it does.'

“There's nothing wrong. I just felt really tired all of a sudden,” she said quietly.

“Perhaps its time you ate,” he suggested, rubbing a finger against her lips.

“I will,” she said, drawing his head down to hers, and brushing his lips with her own. “In a minute.”

~~~
He sat at the table, watching her as she pushed at her food uninterestedly. For some reason, she had slipped into a very maudlin mood after their outing. He knew that she was as prone to lapse into moods as anyone else, and decided to leave her be if she wished.
“I am going out. Do you wish to accompany me,” he asked gazing over his shoulder.
She gave him a brief smile and nodded.
As they walked in the garden silently, side by side, he wondered if she missed her friends, her family, or if she thought of the past, perhaps that could be responsible for her bad mood.
They reached a favorite spot of hers, the lake with the small waterfall that cascaded from the cliffs. He sat upon one of the smooth slate rocks that jutted into the lake; she advanced slowly until she reached him.
“Do you miss home,” he asked as she sat upon his lap. She glanced up sharply. “No,” she said with surprise. “Did you wish to go with your friends this afternoon,” he asked inquisitively. “You know you are free to do whatever you wish.”
“No,” she said with a sigh, “Its not that. I just felt a little inadequate today.”
He raised his brow. “Whatever for?”
“I didn't care for some of the looks you were given this afternoon,” she said in a far away voice. “It brought back some of my worst moments with InuYasha, when Kikyo stood between us.”
His other brow raised. “That shadow of a woman,” he said in disbelief.
She stared off at the expanse of water. “I guess its made me a little insecure.”
"Hmm. Undress for me," he said his voice sounding like a caress.
"Wha?" she whispered. His face was serious as he gazed into her eyes. "You know I dislike repeating myself," he said softly. "Undress for me."
Kagome blushed deeply and lowered her head against his chest for a few moments. Then she slid her hands around her neck to the tie of her pink summer dress, fumbling with it slightly as her blush deepened, her heart palpating against his breastbone.
His gaze darkened as her strapless bra was revealed. He reached out and with one finger snipped the thin strap that divided the cups. "That was my favorite bra," she said softly with indignation. He flicked the now ruined bra away, "I'll get you another," he said softly.
"Hughh" she pouted huffily and slid away from him, feeling a bit miffed at the loss. She stood and began to step away on the flat rocks. "Where are you going," he asked casually.
She looked over her shoulder at him, twitched her nose. "Since you've already ruined my clothes, I'm going swimming. If you catch me, you can have me. But if not, you sleep alone," she said pertly and stepped into the pool and swam to the middle where she looked at him defiantly.
His lips twitched, but he did not move for some moments. He then stood slowly and began removing his kimono while she eyed him with express admiration.
He removed his yukata, and there he was, gloriously nude for her alone. She couldn't supress the quiver that slid through her. He moved quickly toward her and she snapped out of her reverie, shrieking a little and laughing.
She dived underwater and he went after her, deliberately missing her ankle once before grasping it the second time. Her eyes widened as he yanked her to him and forced her up near the shallow end.
They stood, she laughing up into his face as he smiled down at her, sliding hands to the small of her back. "It appears I will have my way," he said, his golden eyes glowing devilishly as he bent his head to hers.
She smiled and sighed as his lips neared hers.
"Don't you always?"
