Kagome worked on drawing pictures all morning. She also inked them and colored a few. She really was a very good artist. Everyone had said that since she was ten. Now she was fifteen and could draw almost anything. Well except realistic people. Actually she could draw people that looked like people, just not the people she was trying to draw. So she stuck with her anime, which she was extremely good at.
She sat in a corner with her sketch book and a pencil and watched the other kids come in and take their seats. Kagome had no idea what Miss. Peterson was talking about… Something about the brain, den [Author ID1: at Wed Jan 3 20:49:00 2007 ]droids or something. Luckily she didn't need another science. Not this year at least. She had taken Biology and Marine Biology the last few years. They didn't offer Chemistry here, and that was the only science she might want. Miss. Peterson taught Biology to everyone.
After the first rotation, group C came in. Kagome's heart did a flip. There in all his rocker glory was Inuyasha.
She wanted to remember every detail about him to put in her journal of course. She hadn't really taken time to notice his arms before, well, except for the muscle. But when she looked at his arms she noticed they were very decorated. It obviously not tattooed, but looked to be decked out with sharpie markers. There were a few band logos and a lot of random patterns. He had on a wrist warmer with silver spikes jutting out of it. His nails were long and filed into sharp points. Kagome almost squealed when she saw that they were painted too, black and pink.
He sat down in his regular seat and pulled out a Biology book. He leaned back in his seat and let his made-up eyelids droop. As Miss. Peterson went on about the Myelin Sheath and Nuclei Inuyasha doodled intricate patterns in the margins of his note book.
“Inuyasha, are you paying attention?” Miss Peterson asked.
“Of course, I'm just relaxing. I learn better that way.” Inuyasha opened his eyes a little more.
“Are you sure it's not just to look cool for Kagome?”
“Honestly, is it possible for me to look any cooler than I already do?” He responded condescendingly.
Kagome stopped drawing. She had thought Inuyasha was the hot shit. But she didn't think he was so… conceited.
Kagome didn't realize it. But that was only the first of a long line of little things that would make her start to hate him. Yet with every thing that made her dislike him more, there was always something else that would make her like him that much more.
After group C left, A came in. Miss Peterson flipped more towards the front of the book and started talking about the skeletal system. Kagome sat and thought about Inuyasha. She even found herself drawing a cartoon version of him… and her. It was so weird for her. There was one time she found herself in love with a boy after a few days, but she was six at the time. This was different. She felt something beyond anything of this world pull her to him. Nothing she could do would stop what fate had set in motion.
Group A was finally packing up their stuff and leaving when Miss. Peterson's homeroom came in. Kagome had learned most of the kids so far. Jonathon was one of those kids Kagome would hate with a passion. He was probably autistic, and didn't like to follow directions. Miroku had told her that he was often in the off-trust area, and sometimes he even “wasn't a student.” Meaning he sat in the back room and stayed there until he would listen.
Chris was like Jonathon. There was one other Chris in the school, but Kagome hadn't identified him yet. This Chris was annoying. Already today he had feebly tried to flirt with Kagome. During Biology he winked at her and smiled. But Kagome was not interested at all. Maybe she was a little shallow, but still, look at him!
Daniel wasn't at school today. He hardly ever was, according to Miroku. But when he did show up he would ride their bus home in the afternoon.
Inuyasha waltzed in looking smug. He slammed his papers and binder onto his desk and sat down. He was fiddling with his lip ring and leaning back in his chair when an older woman walked in the door.
“Hello everyone.” The old woman said. She looked around the room, spotted Kagome, and grinned. “And a special hello to you Kagome.”
“Hello Mrs.[Author ID1: at Wed Jan 3 20:49:00 2007 ]…” Kagome had no clue who this lady was.
“Kaede, and just call me Kaede, no `Mrs.' is necessary.” She smiled. “I'm the Social Skills teacher.”
“Social Skills?” Kagome smiled too. How pathetic was a school that required a Social Skills class.
“Today I thought we would just introduce you to the class.” Kaede took a seat next to Inuyasha.
“Oh. Okay about me… Um… I'm fifteen. I like music a lot.” Kagome was rather nervous. True she liked attention as much as the next person, but to be put on the spot like that was a little panic-making.
“What kind of music?” Inuyasha interrupted.
“Oh right now my favorite bands are Underoath, Senses Fail,” she gestured to her shirt, “Alexisonfire, Emanuel, From First to Last, Emery, Haste the Day and some hard rock like KoRn, Smashing Pumpkins, and Manson. I've been into that kind of music since last year. Except KoRn and Manson, I've liked them since I was thirteen.”
“Thanks for the life story,” Inuyasha said sarcastically.
“Well you asked, so, well I guess it was kind of long… Sorry.” Kagome was terrified of doing something wrong that would make him not like her.
“No it's fine, at least you like two good bands.” He smoothed the front of his KoRn shirt.
“Anyways, my dad's in the Navy and I've moved around a lot. I was born in Connecticut, and then I moved to Florida, South Caroline, Colorado, California, Rhode Island, Louisiana, DC, Maryland, and now here.” She used her fingers to count again.
“So why are you at Vista?” Chris asked.
“Um… I follow directions and stuff I just sometimes am not that nice to myself.” She pulled her arm warmer higher up her arm.
“Cutter,” Inuyasha coughed loudly.
Kagome blushed again. It wasn't like she was embarrassed about what she did. She just knew people treated her different because of it. That wasn't the only reason she was here. Maybe if she was just scratching herself she wouldn't be here. But there was so much more.
“I also like to draw. I ride horses too, and I'm a vegetarian. I'm going to be vegan, but I have to wait until I move out of my parents' house. They aren't supportive of me.” She added bitterly.
“Any other questions for Kagome?” Kaede asked.
“What's your number?” Inuyasha called boisterously.
“Inuyasha, you know there is no exchanging of phone numbers here. Don't try and trick her into breaking a rule.” Miss. Peterson reprimanded from her desk.
“Of course.”
Social Skills went on until 11:20 and finally it was over. Then it was time for lunch.

Bunnie: Okay so how does everyone like the story so far?
Inuyasha: I'm not arrogant!
Kagome: I don't listen to post-hardcore!
Bunnie: Shhh! Anyways, in my story Kagome and Inuyasha and all are wholesome all American names. That's why no one makes fun of them… It's that whatever of disbelief.
Inuyasha: Wow, you sound smart.
Bunnie: Shut up! Anyways lunch is coming up.
