This is my first Inuyasha fic. I've written several others, as well as a couple romance ones (you really DON'T want to know), though I can't say they got many rave reviews. Chapter One: Shukuun, Destiny, to Here with Me
I didn't hear you leave, I wonder how am I still here,
Inuyasha closed his eyes as he stared into the well.
I did it again! Kagome and he had gotten into a large fight. He knew that he was to blame for it. He had, once again, been acting like she was nothing more than a Shikon shard detector to him.
I don't want to move a thing, it might change my memory
Kagome.... Why can't you see that you mean so much more... so much... He closed his eyes, fighting back tears. Demons don't cry. He knew that. When he opened them, out of the corner of his eye, he saw an old man. The old man was mostly bald, and reminded him of Miroku's master. He was slightly chubby and carried what appeared to be a walking stick. However, Inuyasha could see the tiny part where, when pulled out, revealed a blade. The man was mostly dressed in rags, but he seemed happy enough. Inuyasha looked into the man's eyes and saw that the irises were white. Not blue, green, brown, or anything like that.
Oh I am what I am, I'll do what I want, but I can't hide
Just white.
For a millisecond, Inuyasha thought he saw the man's eyes turn blue, but if they did, it was for less than a thousandth of a second. The man smiled at Inuyasha after this, then cocked his head to the right.
I won't go, I won't sleep, I can't breathe, until you're resting here with me
"Why do you hold back what you feel?" the man asked suddenly.
"N... nani?!" was all Inuyasha could think to say.
"She means more to you than you say. Why don't you say what you feel to her?"
I won't leave, I can't hide, I cannot be, until you're resting here with me
For some reason, Inuyasha felt like a Terra Demon was burrowing in his heart. He could think of nothing to say.
Nothing, that is, but the truth.
I don't want to call my friends, they might wake me from this dream
"I cannot have my heart ripped from its place again. It hurts too badly. I just... can't do it, not again. NEVER AGAIN!" Inuyasha screamed, feeling the water rush up, ready to spill. Ready to wash away the pain. He knew that they meant well, but the tears never helped him. How many times he cried in his own mind when Kikyo bound him to the tree... betrayed him. How many times he could not count. It helped nothing.
And I can't leave this bed, risk forgetting all that's been
"And you see, I knew this already," the old man said calmly. Inuyasha gritted his teeth as he got ready to tear the man apart. He had brought him closer to tears than Inuyasha had already been. However, strong hands seemed to push him to the ground. "And this is also why you wish to use the Shikon no Tama to become a full-blooded youkai?"
Inuyasha pressed his teeth together so hard he thought they were going to shatter. "What is your point?"
Oh I am what I am, I'll do what I want but I can't hide
"My point is this: Your father loved your mother with all his heart. His full-blooded youkai heart. Had he not died before her, her death would have caused his. It does not matter if you are human, youkai, hanyou, or something else, you will feel the pain as great as you would as you are now. No one is ripping your heart out now but you. Show her who you really are. She will love you."
Upon saying that, the old man got up and started walking North (the area with no trees for a while).
Inuyasha spoke up without turning from the well before the man walked too far. "What is your name, old man?"

"You may call me Shukuun."
Inuyasha heard a vaccuum sound (he nearly smiled remembering the time Kagome's mother used it the first time with him around). His eyes widened as he remember what his mom told him about one who called himself Shukuun. He turned around to ask if he was really who he said he was, but there was nothing there. He looked at the trail the old man left. A few paces down, it dissappeared.
I won't leave, I can't hide, I cannot be, until you're resting here with me.
That's the first chapter! Izumi-chan people will know what the eyes turning blue mean, but this IS NOT HIM! I REPEAT! THIS IS NOT HIM!
Also, there was a SPELL ON INUYASHA! He was literally forced to speak the truth.
