Jakotsu sat by the window in his bedroom, of the two bedroom apartment. Snow drifted silently outside in Kyoto on that Christmas Eve. He sighed contentedly, his eyes somewhat glazed over. The noises from the living room silenced and an acustic guitar was heard. Jakotsu smiled, not even moving from his spot. The party could wait for him.

He was clad in normal Christmas Eve wear; the fluffy wool turtleneck, the jeans and the festive Christmas earrings. Celebrating Christmas with a big bang was always tradition in his family, so he had passed it on as tradition between he and his friends once he had graduated and moved in with his friend Bankotsu.

They had been friends for a long time. Both outcasted for their differences, Bankotsu for his long hair and Jakotsu for being gay, they were magnetically attracted and became fast friends. Soon, they found others like themselves and formed the “Shichinin Tai”, or seven man army as translated. But, after High School was over and College began, people became more excepting and they made many, many other friends, who just so happened to be listening to the braided boy play his guitar outside of his room.

Bankotsu, when they had first met, had been an “aspiring” artist, following the footsteps of many other guitarists like Dir en grey’s Kaoru or X Japan’s deceased hide. He loved the guitar with a passion and practiced a lot in his spare time. He was quite good at the instrument and Jakotsu enjoyed listening to him.

Jakotsu smiled and continued to stare at the falling snow. The abnormal silence helped him hear the furnace producing heat throughout the small apartment, warming it’s occupants. The older man snuggled deeper into his favourite winter shirt and got up, heading out of his room to “mingle” with the guests. He didn’t want to feel too much like a stick in the mud, especially when it was he who was throwing the party. He sat down on a stool and munched on an unknown substance that he grabbed from a tray. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the Christmas tree in all his lighted glory. Various strange ornaments hung from its pine branches. Jakotsu grinned as he turned his head to get a full view of their tree. He had a strange obsession with Christmas; always put up the lights and decorations during November, and whenever he went shopping and saw a strange ornament, he bought it. So, all of the ornaments on the tree were strange and as Renkotsu put it, “special”. Even the multi-coloured star at the top was “special” (or as Renkotsu put it, “gay”, which always made Jakotsu mad). After staring at the tree for a few more seconds, he turned his attention back to Bankotsu.

The braided man was wearing black pants and a long, white shirt, which didn’t show off his nice, muscular figure. His eyes had a glimmer in them that he got when he played music and his braid went down past his rear. Jakotsu caught himself in the act of a coy smile and quickly covered it up with a smaller, less perverse one. Once Bankotsu was done, what little people that came clapped and the chatting began again. The older man rolled his eyes and walked over to Bankotsu, and complimented him on the solo.

Bankotsu grinned at his friend, “Thanks.” was all he said before pushing past him and heading toward one of their stoic “friends”, Sesshoumaru. Kagome and Sango, the girlfriends of Inuyasha and Miroku, headed toward him.

“Jakotsu-san!” Kagome called. Jakotsu growled under his breath and put on a plastic smile.

“Ah, Merry Christmas!” He gritted his teeth under the grin. ‘Stupid wenches. If only no one else was here then I could gouge out their eyes and feed them to their boyfriends.’ He cackled inwardly, but kept the calm smile on his lips, as to not give away his thoughts.

“Merry Christmas to you too,” Sango, the lesser of two evils, smiled.

“How are you enjoying the party?” He asked back, trying to be polite.

“Oh, we’re having so much fun! We noticed that you went missing for a while! Come hang out with us!” The two giggled, as Kagome said this.

‘They really do hate me, don’t they?’ He growled under his breath. “No, that’s fine!” He gave them a chipper smile, “I have to finish wrapping some gifts for Christmas tomorrow morning.” He winked.

“Oooh!” The giggled and winked back, going back to whatever hell hole they crawled out of. Jakotsu sighed, relieved and went back to his room. ‘Why did they come?’ He groaned, laying back on his bed. His blinds were open and the lights were off. The only actual lights in there room were the ones from out on the streets. It was late and no one was up at this hour, except for the various people throwing Christmas parties. Jakotsu could hear people begin to leave their apartment and head down the hallway, to get to ground floor. ‘Finally.’ He sighed. Even though he had a strong love for Christmas, there had been more people than usual this year, and it was a lot of stress to prepare for such a party. Finally, all of the stress was gone and he could just rest and be at peace. The apartment went silent and Jakotsu could hear the clicking of the front door, signaling that the last person had left. For the next fifteen minutes, he heard the shifting of furniture and plates and felt slightly guilty for leaving his friend to do the work. Getting up, he walked toward the door and was about to touch the handle, when the door swung open by itself. A very tired looking Bankotsu walked in to the dark room and up to Jakotsu.

“Boy, that was some party, ne?” He grinned, a rather goofy one. Jakotsu smiled a bit.

“Though I wasn’t present for half of it, it was enjoyable.”

“So I noticed,” He frowned, knitting his brows together; an expression that never looked good on him. Jakotsu moved to sit on window sill and stare out at the still falling snow. “You’ve been doing that a lot.” Bankotsu whispered, sitting down next to him. Jakotsu shifted a bit and nodded.

“It’s peaceful.” He whispered back, smiling.

“Jakotsu...” The braided man said, catching the said person’s attention.

“Yes?” He turned his head and looked into the eyes of his friend. Bankotsu smiled, his face illuminated by the dim lights from outside, and he leaned forward, kissing Jakotsu on the lips. At first, the older man was surprised, for the sheer unexpectedness, but soon, he became more comfortable and wrapped his arms around Bankotsu’s waist, bringing him closer. Bankotsu, in turn, caressed Jakotsu’s cheek in his hand and deepened the kiss. After a while, they pulled back.

“Merry Christmas.” He kissed Jakotsu once on the forehead and hugged him closer.

And for a little bit longer, they sat there together watching the snowflakes.

Just something cute I thought I’d type up in a night for Christmas. First Christmas oriented fanfic I’ve done, minus the small scene in “Kindergarten Blues”. Merry Christmas to you and enjoy this little ficceh!

With love and Christmas Wishes,

Buyo
