<b>Chapter 2</b>

 

Soon was the day for the celebration. The whole village had taken apart for the preparations. The young women and children decorated the outside of the huts by flowers of colourful fabrics, what they had made by themselves. The eldest women cooked many of different kind of dishes, and sew more fabrics, which would be used by decorating the hut, where the rest of the mating would be brought to end.

 

Inuyasha had build the mating hut a mile away form the village. It had pool about ten feet away form it, and it was out of sight from travellers. Inuyasha didn't want anyone to go there and ruin everything he had done.

 

After Kikyo had said yes to Inuyasha's proposing, he had started to build that hut. Usually Inuyoukais search a nice little cavern, or made it by themselves. They made bed from furs on the farthest side of the cavern, so they could protect their mate more easily. Then they made small fireplace on the middle of the cavern, so they could keep the cavern and their warm. They also made a hole on the ceiling so the smoke wouldn't stay in the cavern and kill their mate.

 

Because Inuyasha was a hanyou, he didn't act so much different than full-blooded Inuyoukai. Because he was part human, he didn't want to make the nest into cavern. He wanted to give Kikyo something better, something what they could use in the future. It hadn't taken long when he had finished they hut. He had been very proud of it after he had finishes.

 

The hut had three rooms. The first and the biggest was the room where was the fireplace. They would be eating and receive their guests. The second biggest room was where they would be enjoying their last dinner before they become mates and their first meal after they had become mates. The third and last room was the room where they would put the mating into action. Inuyasha had made the mating bed from furs, just like every Inuyokai did. The furs were so soft and would give extra pleasure for the female part of the mating. It wasn't bad for the male either, but he would be more concentrated of keeping his mate-to-be safe and sound until the mating was over.

 

Inuyasha took Sesshomaru at the hut that day, to see what he thought about it. Even if he still in some level disliked his elder brother, he still wanted his blessing for the hut. After all he had ones made a nest for him and Kagome.

 

-No-one else hasn't seen it yet, Inuyasha said as Seshomaru walked around the hut, looking into every room.

 

Sesshomaru didn't say anything. He walked over to the fur bed and touched the furs.

 

-You need one fur more, he said. He stood up and looked at Inuyasha. -Luckily I brought one for you, as a present.

 

Inuyasha gave him faint smile.

 

-Thank you, he said. He looked as Sesshomaru walked around the room one more time.

 

-That is the only thing you still need here Sesshomaru looked at his brother. -Everything else you already have here. I have a feeling any male who is going to mate soon, would want this to be his.

 

-Well they are not going to get it, Inuyasha said. -It is mine.

 

-Don't worry little brother, Sesshomaru said. He walked out of the hut and took deep breath. -You have found perfect spot, and none of the soon going to be mating will find it.

 

-I hope so, Inuyasha said. Their started to walk away form the hut and towards the village.

 

**

 

-My Lady, young female neko youkai said from the doorway of the great library.

 

-Yes Hikaru? Lady of the Eastern lands said from her desk. -What is it?

 

-There is someone who has very important to tell you. The neko kept her eyes on the flor as sh stepped inside to the library.

 

-Lady of the Eastern Lands looked up from the book, what she was reading.

 

-Who?

 

-Your elder brother my lady.

 

-Let him in.

 

-Yes M'lady.

 

Lady lowered her eyes back to the book what she had been reading until she had been interrupted. She wanted to find the entrance to her father's grave. That was the place where she knew the Silver Sapphire was.

 

She heard the door open once more, and then closing. She didn't even lift her eyes off from the book, just kept looking.

 

-I have you find the way to get to our father's grave Ka? Koshio asked from his sister. Koshio was very handsome. He had long black hair, what matched the colour of his long tail. He had wrapped it over his left shoulder, so it wouldn't be on the way. He was wearing dark blue, white and silver silk clothes. His haori was dark blue, and it had silver decorations.

 

Koshio took one last step over to his sister's desk. Koshio was the Lord of the Eastern Lands, but let his sister take care half of the land. It was good arrangement. He could spend as much time as he wanted with his newborn pup and his mate. Koshio didn't want to loose any of those precious moments, which the pup would bring into his life.

 

-Almost, Ka said. -He had hided the parchment somewhere into this books. I have been looking for all night. Argggh! Ka pushed the book away and took another one. The parchment wasn't in that book either!

 

“Where the hell can it be!” Ka yelled in her mind. “I need to find it!”

 

Koshio looked at piles of books and shook his head. He walked over to the farthest bookcase and took the book, which was last one in the top shelf. He flipped through it pages, and soon finded what he had been looking for.

 

-Is this the parchment what you have been looking for? He asked as he walked over to his little sister. Ka looked up from the book and grumbled. She snatched the parchment form her brother and opened it. It was what she had been looking for.

 

-You should have thought like father thinks, Koshio said. -He always hides something someplace that had a meaning.

 

-And what the meaning behind this hiding place is? Ka asked. You could hear the irritation in her voice.

 

-Simple, Koshio said. - The place where the grave is, is the last place where he was going in his life.

 

Ka growled and got up from the chair. She looked at her brother as she took her silk hooded robe, and started to walk towards the door.

 

-Where are you going? Koshio asked.

 

-To get the Silver Sapphire, when someone gets there before me.

 

Koshio just stand still and watched his sister strode out of the library, closing the doors after her.

 

“I hope you find it before anyone else Ka”, Koshio thought. “We don't want someone as bad as Naraku to rise again.” Koshio walked towards the door, and ordered Hikaru to get another servant for help and put all the books back on their place.

Ka sat on the back of her black firedog Magoru. She was reading the parchment as they headed at the Western Lands.

 

“Father”, she thought. “You have hided your grave very well. I only need few things to get there, and if the new bad guy is just a hanyou he can't get them all so easily.”

 

When she read the parchment more, she grumbled.

 

“I need to go to Inuyasha'a village and get Tetsusaiga? Have you worked with his father?”

 

Ka looked up and at the sun setting.

 

“Maybe it's time to meet them. It has been long time when I saw them last time.”

 

Ka smirked. She put the parchment into safe place. She then smirked.

 

-Lets go to northwest Magoru, we need something from there.

 

Magoru growled at reply and changed hid direction.

 

**

 

-Have you find it already? Cold voice asked from two neko youkai who walked into the dark room.

 

-No sir, the other youkai said. -It has been very well hided. We only had a clue and that came up as a false one.

 

-Have you searching more?

 

-Yes my lord, the second youkai said. -And the clue has been proven true.

 

-Well? The cold voice asked. -Where is it?

 

-In the grave of the late Lord of the Eastern Lands. The youkai who was one of the greatest youkais who made the Silver Sapphire.

 

-Well? The cold voice asked. You could see in the dim light of the few torches someone moving towards the youkais. -What are you still waiting for? Go and get it.

 

-We can't my lord, the second youkai said. -We can't get the things what is needed.

 

-And what those are?

 

-Blood of the lady or lord of the Eastern Lands, first one said.

 

-The Tetsusaiga, second said.

 

-And the blood of lord of the Western Lands.

 

They waited for reply, but only thing they got was a cold breeze as something went pass them. Their lord was now standing behind them.

 

-We need to go and get them, he said. Just then there was loud thunder and showed the face of the new evil. He had evil smirk on his pale face, and his purple eyes were flashing.

 

**

 

Inuyasha and Kikyo had just arrived at the hut, when the thunder started. Kikyo stopped at porch of the hut and looked up at the sky. It wasn't raining yet, so it helped her to see the figure on the sky better. Black firedog was flying over them, just starting to land, when the rider saw Kikyo.

 

Kikyo couldn't take her eyes off from the rider. He or she had stopped the dog, and was now hovering in the air. Kikyo closed her eyes, as she heard voice in her head. Voice that was very familiar to her.

 

<b>::Kikyo::</b> The voice said. <b>Do not be worried, the mating will go well</b> Then the rider said turned his or hers head on said something to the firedog. The dog started to move slowly towards the ground.

 

<b>::I will se you soon, and soon I will tell you what is coming. Now you need to push me aside and concentrate on Inuyasha. We will meet after that::</b> Then the firedog started to land, and disappeared out of the sight, just as Inuyasha came outside.

 

-Is everything all right koi? Inuyasha asked as he wrapped his arms around Kikyo's small waist. Kikyo turned around in his arms and kissed his lips.

 

-Everything is just fine, she replied. -Now, what do you say if we go inside, hmm?

 

Inuyasha just smirked and kissed her lips. He lifted her into his arms, without breaking the kiss, and carried her into the hut.

 

Two deep blue eyes were watching them from the shadows of the forest. Small smiled on her lips, as she watched them to go inside.

 

“Soon my friend”, she thought. “Soon we can fight the evil together.”

Sesshomaru looked at the sky. It had started to rain few minutes ago. Shippo, Rin and the others had gone to bed already. He sat down on the floor and leaned his back on the wall. In night like this, Sesshomaru missed Kagome even more. He remembered the first night, when they hadn't been insulting each other but had enjoyed the music what the rain was making.

 

<u>Flashback</u>

 

Sesshomaru was walking in the woods after Rin had fallen asleep. He had smelled his brother and his companions not far away from his palace. It didn't make him happy. Not at all

 

“I don't know why that half-breed thinks he can come near my palace”, he thought as he walked towards the scent. “I do not want him here.”

 

Sesshomaru continued walking on the muddy path. It had been raining for twenty minutes now, and almost hided Inuyasha's and his companions scents.

 

As he walked past a clearing, where was a pool, something caught his eye. He stopped for a second and then walked towards the pool. Not far where he was now standing, was the little Miko sitting under the trees, facing the pool. Her eyes were closed and she looked peaceful.

 

Sesshomaru didn't understand the little woman/child. Why would she be sitting here, when Inuyasha was still in the camp? Or was he? Sesshomaru didn't understand the girl. Why would she leave the protection, what his brother was giving to her?

 

Sesshomaru moved over to the little Miko and looked down at her. It took few seconds when the Miko sensed his presence and looked up. Sesshomaru saw fear, confusion and something else in her eyes. That was all he could see, before she got up and moved away from him. Under the rain. The odd coat had fallen on the ground, and was on Sesshomaru's feet.

 

-Why you go under the rain? Sesshomaru asked. -This Sesshomaru can't understand.

 

-Better get wet than get killed, the Miko had replied as she made her bow and arrow ready. -Make another move and I will shoot you!

 

Sesshomaru chuckled. This girl was funny! She really thought she could kill him with single arrow.

 

-I'm not here to kill you, wench. That was mistake, he would soon learn.

 

-You have something in common with Inuyasha, Kagome said. Her beautiful eyes were full of r…

 

“Wait a minute?” Sesshomaru asked from himself. “Did I just call her eyes beautiful? What is wrong with me?”

 

-And one more thing. Kagome's voice interrupted his thoughts. -I'M NOT WENCH!! I HAVE A NAME AND IT'S KA… Kagome couldn't finish what she was going to say. A strong arm was on her mouth and something soft was wrapped around her waist, pulling her close to something hard.

 

-I get the point girl, Sesshomaru's cold voice said. -No need to shout. My ears are hurting.

 

They stayed like that for a while. The rain was pouring down, making them both soaking wet. They were silent, neither one saying anything. At some point Sesshomaru lowered his hand down from Kagome's mouth and led her back under the tree. They sat down in silence, and Sesshomaru unwrapped his tail around Kagome's waist. He offered her, her odd coat back, which she put on immediately.

 

-It's warm, Kagome had whispered after long silence.

 

-What is it warm Miko? Sesshomaru had asked. Looking at her from the corner of his eye.

 

-Your tail. Kagome looked up into his golden orbs. -It's very warm. I almost started to feel sleepy.

 

Sesshomaru looked as she blushed little bit and then turned her head back to the pool. Together they listened the song of the rain.

 

<u>Flashback ends</u>

 

Silent tear dropped on Sesshomaru's hand. This was one of the rare moments when Sesshomaru let his cold mask slip. He could never find better and kinder woman than Kagome. She was the only thing Sesshomaru had ever wanted to be on his side. She had been the first one who had put aside all those bad things she had heard and seen, she was the first one who still was there even if he had said something very rude and cold to her.

 

-Why did you have to leave Kagome? Sesshomaru asked quietly. -There is still so much to say and so much to tell. You can't be gone.

 

-She still might be here, old voice said. Sesshomaru looked up at Kaede.

 

-What do you mean old woman? He asked as he stood up. Kaede looked at him.

 

-I mean I still feel her presence.

 

Sesshomaru arched one slender eyebrow.

 

-Have you felt it long?

 

-When the rain started the feeling of her got stronger. Like she is somewhere there, in the forest.

 

Sesshomaru looked at the forest and then back to Kaede.

 

-Are you sure? If I or Inuyasha or Kikyo has sensed her after…how can you?

 

-Because I have always sensed something else in her, different aura. I know why she has that aura. She explained it to me before the final battle. She hided it from anyone else, even from Kikyo, but she couldn't hide it from me.

 

Sesshomaru stared at her.

 

-What different aura? Small voice asked behind them Shippo was standing on the doorway.

 

-I will tell you soon, no isn't the time. I recommend that you both go to bed. We have lot to do tomorrow when Kikyo and Inuyasha returns.

 

After that Kaede went back to inside the hut, leaving the Taiyoukai and kitsune standing on the porch.

 

-What did she mean papa? Shippo asked as he leaped into Sesshomaru's arms. Sesshomaru looked at the small kitsune and kissed the top of his head.

 

-I don not know pup, he sighed. -I really do not know.

 

**

 

Next day Sesshomaru was walking in the forest. Last night Kaede had hinted that Kagome might be alive and in the forest. For two hours he had been walking around the forest, avoiding Inuyasha's hut. He had heard some very disturbing noises coming out of there. He hadn't seen anything that would hint Kagome being alive.

 

“This is useless”, Sesshomaru thought as blue cloud appeared around him. He rose into the air and looked down at the forest. “Kagome isn't alive. I saw her dying with my own two eyes. It even broke my heart!”

 

He let his mask slip for a second as the memories of Kagome's death came into his mind. He was just about to close his eyes, when he smelled something. He opened his eyes, and looked over to the clearing where the pool was. A black dog was sitting there, watching him. Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes at the dog and gave the coldest glare what he knew. The dog didn't even flinch.

 

Sesshomaru started to come down, to make the damn dog to move. Just then he heard something. He stayed where he was, looking towards the village. He sniffed the air, and got worried. It was Shippo he was in trouble. The dog had heard the too, Sesshomaru saw it running towards he direction where Shippo was.

 

“Now I know what that damn dog was doing!” Sesshomaru yelled in his mind as his feet touched the ground. He ran after the dog. “It distracted me so I wouldn't get to Shippo as son as possible to help him!” Sesshomaru was furious. Nothing would stop him save his pup! Not even that damn dog!

 

The dog was fast, and Sesshomaru had hard time to stay after it. Sesshomaru had noticed that the dog might be a youkai too. Few seconds ago, he smelled very familiar scent and felt familiar aura, but then they were gone again.

 

-You won't get him! Sesshomaru growled at the dog and tried to raise his speed. The dog did the same, and was always few feet ahead of Sesshomaru.

 

Soon they came to a clearing, where Shippo was. He was shaking and looking scared. He was staring right on front of him. Big black firedog was growling at Shippo, taking steps closer.

 

Shippo noticed Sesshomaru and tried to run over to him. The big dog jumped on the way, and Shippo backed away.

 

-Help papa! Shippo whined. -It won't let me go!

 

Sesshomaru took step forward when the smaller black dog stepped on front of him. It didn't growl, but looked deep into his eyes. There was something familiar in the dog's eyes. Sesshomaru couldn't look away from those two bright blue eyes.

 

The other dog took step forward towards Shippo, who yelped and tired to get away. Just then another firedog came into the view.

 

Sesshomaru looked at the other dog, the small black dog did the same, and started to growl. The new firedog looked up from Shippo and the other one and started to growl too. It jumped over Shippo and ran towards Sesshomaru and the black dog.

 

-KAZE NO KIZU!!! The brown firedog was hit by Inuyasha's scar of the wind. Both black dogs ran after the brown one. Shippo ran over to Sesshomaru, who lifted him into his arms. Shippo cried into his tail, and was shaking little bit.

 

-Are you all right pup? Sesshomaru asked.

 

-Yeah, Shippo said quietly. He didn't look up into Sesshomaru's eyes, but hided his face into his tail.

 

-What happened? Inuyasha asked. He had angry tone as he approached his brother and Shippo. -Me and Kikyo were just going to continue our mating, when I heard the runt screaming asking for help.

 

Sesshomaru gave cold stare to Inuyasha.

 

-Don't ever call him that when I'm around. It might be the only thing you ever say.

 

Inuyasha was getting angry. He was about to say something, when he felt his mate's hand on his arm. He looked into her soft eyes.

 

-Let it go Inuyasha, Kikyo said and looked over to Sesshomaru, who was comforting Shippo. -He was worried about Shippo, and was afraid he might loose him too. You better not make him angry right now, not when Shippo is still scared.

 

Sango and Miroku came to the clearing with Kaede with Kirara.

 

-Is he all right? Sango asked. Shee was in her Taijiya costume Hirakotsu ready.

 

-Yeah, Kikyo said and looked at her. -We got here just in time.

 

Kaede came down from Kirara's back, who turned back into her smaller form. It jumped into Miroku's arms, who walked over to Sango and the others. Kaede walked slowly towards them, her eyes closed.

 

-Can you tell what happened? Sango asked from Shippo, who was drying his eyes.

 

Shippo nodded.

 

-I was collecting herbs to Kaede. She had asked me to do it, because she had lots of other things to do. I had just found all the herbs collected, when I accidentally stepped on that big dog's tail. It had hided its scent so I hadn't seen it. I had just remembered that today was mama's birthday, and I was in my own thoughts so I didn't saw it either.

 

-And then what happened? Kikyo asked. She touched the little Kitsune's head and stroked his hair.

 

-Then it got up from the ground and started to growl at me. I tried to run towards the village, where I would be safe, but it jumped on front of me. The only way where I could go was the forest, and I hoped I could find papa. He would have saved me.

 

-Then I came, Sesshomaru. -When you had come into the clearing.

 

Shippo nodded.

 

-I tripped on the branches, and then the dog was right in front of me. When I saw the other dog, the smaller one, I thought I wouldn't see papa again. Then you came and rest you know.

 

Shippo looked down like he was ashamed of himself.

 

-Sorry papa, he said quietly.

 

Sesshomaru arched an eyebrow.

 

-Why are you sorry?

 

-I couldn't defend myself towards that demon.

 

Sesshomaru kissed Shippo's head.

 

-That's okay, he said. -You are just a pup. I don't except you to deal with that kind of thing just yet.

 

Sesshomaru held Shippo close. He didn't want to loose him.
