Similarity

To what do I owe this thing called love,

Both hell forged and from above,

Neither purely evil and neither purely good,

Able to be fathomed but rarely understood?

Where this all began, I do not know,

How something so sweet and tender could grow.

Was it chance that told me to release you from the tree,

Or was it fickle fate or even destiny?

You could not stand me, for all I've tried,

Many times you'd wish I'd died.

Not because you hated me,

Just my similarity.

I won your heart as time went on,

Your angry grudge soon was gone.

You saw past her and saw only me,

And not my similarity.

Our mission grew bolder, and our group large,

Under our mighty and vengeful charge.

Silent you were, but I still knew,

Just how much your love had grew.

Then, she came, that ghost from your past,

And it started from where you parted last.

You took off for her, waiting for her call,

Acting as if I wasn't there at all.

It soon became her, and not just us,

In her dead hands you put your trust.

More for her and even less for me,

Damn my similarity.

For you, I'd walk the depths of hell,

My soul to Satan I'd surely sell.

She cannot promise you all that I can give,

She has not even her own life to live.

So now I say to you, I love you ever so,

But answer my question before I go.

Do you love her wholly or it is all for me,

And not just my similarity?
