Chapter 2: Something about Her

Rin played in the snow while Sesshomaru went out hunting. Jaken sat on Ah-Un, staring at the hyper human child with disgust.

 

`What does Lord Sesshomaru see in this child?' he thought as Rin threw a snowball at him. She giggled when Jaken shook his head and glared at her.

 

Rin twirled around in circles then fell in the snow giggling. She got up and walked in the forest. She blinked twice where she saw something yellow. She hid behind a tree and watched the large cat padding her way. Rin smiled and ran towards it.

 

“You're a big kitty.” She said staring into its large red eyes.

 

The cat groaned and fell to the ground. Rin tilted her head a bit till she saw why it fell. Its coat was covered in blood. She gasped and placed a small hand over her mouth.

 

“Poor kitty,” She said and patted its head. The cat purred and nudges her.

 

When she saw a pile of tousled black hair she craned her neck to get a better look. She walked to the cat's side and remembered the blue kimono with sakura blossoms.

 

“Kagome!” She gasped.” What happened to Kagome?” Kagome didn't answer.

 

“Come on Kitty, Rin's master can help.” Rin said.

 

She saw the cat hesitate to move, but decide it was best to follow. When she and the cat came into Jaken's field of vision he yelled.

 

“Rin! Have you lost your senses!?” He hollered and jumped to the ground and ran in front of her. ”That cat hangs around Lord Sesshomaru's half-wit brother! You stupid human girl!” He tapped her head hard with his staff.” Quick! Put that cat back where you found it before Lord Sessho-“ Rin cut him off by pointing at the maze of trees.

 

“But he's already here,” She said.

 

Sesshomaru walked through the mist with three dead rabbits in his hand as he approached his ward and minion. His eyes narrowed at the yellow cat which growled at him. He looked at Jaken who was looking for the right words. He ignored Jaken's idiocy and stopped in front of Rin.

 

“Lord Sesshomaru, these two are Rin's friends, and they're injured. Rin was wondering if Lord Sesshomaru could help.” Rin said.

 

Kagome seemed to be gaining consciousness. She opened her eyes and everything was hazy, all she saw was a pair of golden eyes.

 

“Inu…yasha…” She whispered.

 

“I am not Inuyasha miko” He growled for being mistaken for his brother.

 

“Sess…shomaru?” She blinked several times before his emotionless face was clear. She tried to get up but winced when she moved.

 

“Kagome shouldn't move” Rin said.

 

“I have to get out of here, Inuyasha is after me. He'll kill anyone who's near me.” She said and looked at Rin. “And I don't want him to hurt you”

 

“Stay where you are miko,” Sesshomaru said tossing the three dead rabbits at Jaken. ”Inuyasha can't harm Rin nor you.” He looked at her closely and felt something he hadn't felt when he first met her. ”You might be of use to me”

 

He looked down at Rin who had clung onto his tail. The strange presence he felt in the miko, she shouldn't have it. How could she obtain that in only three year? He ignored the feeling and patted Rin's head. But then another question emerged in his head, how could she, a human, survive with those long gashes in her back, she should've been dead by now…

 

Rin smiled and skipped towards Kagome. ”Will Kagome play with Rin once she is healed?” She asked and started petting Kirara's fur.

 

Kagome nodded and buried her face in Kirara's fur. Kirara fell to the ground once more and started to lick her bloody arm.

 

It was easy to tell that Kagome was upset. Her eyes were really glassy. Inuyasha had hurt her, mentally and physically. She couldn't blame him; it was just one of Naraku's evil schemes. She felt a tear roll down her cheek which she wiped off with Kirara's fur. 'Inuyasha, please, come back to me.' She thought before falling into unconsciousness again.

Sesshomaru was leaning against a tree staring at the frozen lake. Rin and Jaken had fallen asleep moments ago. Rin, as usual when they traveled, slept on his tail which was twitching a bit in the snow. He looked at the cat demon that was still awake. The cat demon glared at him. Obviously, it didn't trust him.

 

Sesshomaru started to close his eyes till the scent of blood reached his sensitive nose. He ignored it, till a small hint of Inuyasha's blood was in it. His eyes shot back open and his head turned towards where the scent was coming from. Inuyasha's roar and laughs could be heard miles from where he was. He stood up and poked Jaken with his foot. Jaken awoke after Sesshomaru kicked him.

 

“I- is that Inuyasha's scent?” He asked sniffing the air as he pulled his face out of the snow.

 

“Yes, Jaken, take Rin and her friends back to my castle. I shall take care of Inuyasha.” Sesshomaru unsheathed Tokijin and his tail placed Rin on Ah-Un.

 

“Yes, milord.” Jaken said and grabbed the reins of the two headed dragon. Kirara stood up and followed Jaken.

Kagome soon woke from her coma and saw Sesshomaru's dragon. She started to push herself up but the shockwave of the pain in her back gave stopped her. Kirara turned his head to look at Kagome. Kagome gave a weak smile and petted her.

 

It felt like days to Kagome when they reached a stoned castle. Kagome believed it was in the middle of a forest. When two demons opened the door Jaken and Kirara walked into the castle. The place was cold. The demons stared at Kagome as she and Kirara passed them.

 

A female demon, nearly Kagome's age, which Kagome thought was an angel because of her large white feathery wings, stood in front of Jaken and bowed.

 

“Where is the lord sir?” She asked.

 

“He is out Kera; take this miko to one of the guest rooms. Also take Rin to her bedroom.” Jaken said and walked off somewhere.

 

The demon, Kera, looked at Kagome; Kagome could tell the demon was shy of new things. She picked up Rin and held her in her arms. Kera looked at Kirara and nodded.

 

“It has been a while Kirara” She whispered and turned for them to follow her

 

Kagome was busying staring at the inside of palace. The stoned walls were a dark blue color and the doors were mahogany. The torches on the walls were dimly lit and gave the dark, cold castle a creepy look, especially with the gaunt demons staring at her as she passed them.

 

Kera stopped in front a door on the fourth floor and pushed it open. Kirara followed her into the room. Kera blew at the unlit torch near her and it lit as well as the others. She turned and looked at Kagome.

 

“This is your room miko, rest, you need it.” Kera said before leaving with Rin.

 

Kirara walked towards the futon which was surrounded with furs. Kirara bent down so Kagome could gently fall on the futon. She hissed when the fur touched his back but soon relaxed. Kirara turned to her smaller form and curled into a ball in front of Kagome's face. Kagome smiled and petted Kirara.

 

Kagome looked at the glass window and watched the snow fall till she fell asleep.

Kagome sat in the white glass room with her knees pulled up to her chest. She rocked slowly back and forth.

 

“Kagome?” A concerned voice asked.

 

Kagome looked up and saw Inuyasha. He crouched down so he was in front of her face.

 

“Inuyasha…”She whispered.

 

His golden eyes held sorrow in them. His clawed hand reached up and rubbed against her cheek. She stopped rocking and threw her arms on him. Inuyasha returned the embrace and looked at the five gashes he made. His hand rubbed against her backs side and he watched them heal.

 

“Kagome, I'm so sorry” He whispered into her hair.

 

Kagome didn't say anything but hugged him tighter. She heard him sigh and she let go to look at his sad face.

 

“Inuyasha, what's wrong?” She asked wiping her tears away with the sleeves of her kimono.

 

“It's just that, I `m hurting you and I won't stop.” Inuyasha said.

 

“Oh Inuyasha.” She said and hugged him again. “I'll bring you back, I promise.”

 

“Kagome” He started. “It's going to be difficult, the subduing spell won't work, and I won't come near Tetsusaiga. The only way to get me back is to complete the jewel and get rid of Naraku.”

 

Kagome sniffed and buried her face in his beautiful silver mane.

 

“Sleep well Kagome” He whispered before disappearing.

 

Kagome sighed and went back to rocking slowly.

The next day, Rin searched the castle for Kagome. One thing she didn't like about the palace was that it was hard for her to find someone. She finally found Kagome on the fourth floor. She walked in the room and spotted Kagome in the center of the room.

 

She giggled and skipped towards Kagome. She sat on her knees and tapped Kagome's nose. Kagome groaned and turned over. Rin blinked when she saw Kagome's pale back. The gashes were gone, as well as the blood. Rin's fingers brushed against her back. She watched Kagome shiver and raise her head. Rin smiled.

 

“Good morning Kagome” She piped.

 

Kagome smiled too. “Good morning to you Rin, did you sleep well?”

 

Rin nodded. ”Is Kagome's back better?” She asked.

 

Kagome blinked and sat up, not feeling any source of pain. ”Funny” She whispered.

 

“Can Kagome play with Rin now?” Rin asked.

 

Kagome nodded and stood up. ”Do you know where I can get another kimono Rin?”

 

“Yup!” Rin quickly got up and opened the door that was across the room. She soon came back with a white kimono.

 

“These are for Kagome” She said.

 

Kagome took the Kimono out of her hands and smiled. ”Thank you Rin.”

Alright, Sesshomaru's fluff, I chose it to be his tail rather than a boa, or whatever you call it, also, the little presence thing that Sesshy senses in Kagome, I'll explain that later.
