Kagome flopped down on the couch, blowing at her bangs, the morning sun streaming through the front windows. What am I going to do? She was in no way going to be pining after him. Inuyasha was in NO WAY deserving of that. But what would get her mind off him? SHOPPING!
Yes! She would shop! Whenever there was a problem in her life she shopped! True, some people chose alcohol or drugs but not Kagome.
She threw herself off the couch and ran into her room, grabbing jeans and a cute lacy top. Kagome quickly ran a brush through her hair and shook it out, slipping on sandals and snatching her cherry flavored lip gloss. Now she was ready to rock and roll. She grabbed Sango's keys, making a quick prayer that Sango wouldn't kill her once she woke up and discovered Kagome had sorta kinda stolen her car, and took the elevator downstairs.
Kagome, the youngest of the trio, had turned 18 over the summer. She was SO GLAD to be out of high school, which had never been her favorite place to go. She just kept her head down and got good grades, studied hard, and graduated with honors. Her family, which after her father's death, consisted solely on her Mother, Grandfather, and younger brother, were well-off. They were in no way as wealthy as Inuyasha and Sesshomaru or as lucky to be able to afford a car for Kagome's 16th birthday like Sango's family, but the Higurashi household did the best they could with what they had.
She had, therefore, been lucky enough to be able to afford not to get a job right away. She worked over the past two summers and had saved enough money to take a year off. The summer was ending and Kagome was beginning to wonder what to do. She felt so used to the ritual of summer ending and school starting that now she was confused on what to do.
HOWEVER, that was not the matter at hand! Shopping was the only thing, she told herself, that she was to think about. So, checking her wallet and finding her one trusty credit card in hand and having a full tank of gas, she pulled out of the apartment building parking lot and set off for the mall.
She'd known Sango for practically her whole life and they'd been through so much, it seemed guaranteed that they would move in together. Rin had come later. In their last year of high school they'd met the new student and befriended her, making the trio complete. The three, all having limited amounts of money, decided the best idea was to move in together. That way they wouldn't be lonely, they could afford decent housing, and, for Rin and Kagome, they'd have Sango's car to use.
She hit the mall running. Kagome had made sure to park the car right in front of her favorite store so when she came out with six bags she wouldn't have to walk as far.
JinJin's had EVERYTHING!

Sesshomaru smoothed the Beemer up to the intersection. Rin was sound asleep, drooling on the passenger's window. He tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear and gave a small smile - a very unlike Sesshomaru smile. She was so small, but she was in no way fragile. He sighed, that's it. I'm in love…
He sped up, gliding into the parking lot. He nodded at the guard who let him down into the underground parking. He chuckled as he pulled Rin's sleeping form out of her seat, releasing the buckle. “Rin, we're here.”
She groaned, giving a great yawn and blinking slowly. “Oh no. Can't you drive around a bit more? It was nice.”
“Come on. Get up!” He got out of the car, jogging around and opening the door, offering his hand.
“I hate you.”
“Aww!”
Rin growled at him, and pulled herself up, ignoring his hand. She slammed the door and Sess locked the car, putting an arm around her and steering her towards the elevator. His eyes locked with Kagura.
“Sister?”
Rin raised an eyebrow, “Nani?!”
“Yes brother, I followed you here. You sure don't drive as fast as you used to.” She smiled warmly at him, stepping up to the couple.
“Rin, this is my half-sister Kagura. We share the same mother. Kagura, this is my girlfriend Rin.”
Kagura's eyes went to Rin's as she surveyed the small girl. God, she's short! She was not impressed. She knew Sess had girlfriend's but she hadn't pictured any of them like this. This Rin was important to him to, Kagura hadn't seen him smile for years.
Rin stifled a grimace under the stare of Kagura. She felt the girl's dislike of her. She couldn't understand why either. Did she feel as though she was not worthy of Sesshomaru? Not that it mattered. Rin may be short but no body messed with her. She was one tough cookie... Okay, maybe cookie was the wrong word.
Kagura pursed her lips, this girl wouldn't last long. They never did. Besides, Sesshomaru was promised to Kanna. It wasn't as if this girl would be a threat to that. How could someone so short be a threat?
Sesshomaru saw the telling expressions go over his sister's face and he knew he had to intervene. She could be cruel when she wanted. “It's so great to see you Kagura. We should have lunch. Rin and I have plans but if you're free tomorrow for lunch I can swing by and pick you up. You're staying at the Emi Hotel right?”
“Of course. Only the best for the Shiro family.” Kagura sneered at Rin, narrowing her eyes. “It was nice to meet you. I'll give you a ring, brother.” She gave the two a little finger wave and got in her car, an expensive little Jaguar, and sped away.
Rin avoided Sesshomaru's eyes, clasping her hands together. “Well, she seemed nice.”
“No she didn't. She's a bitch.”
Rin's mouth dropped.
“She's a disgrace to the Shiro line, she doesn't deserve to live. I hate her.” He looked over at Rin and gave her a wide grin, “Let's go upstairs! I've had quite enough of my crappy family!”
*****************************
Sango stretched, pulling her tired form out of her bed. God, what I wouldn't give for some booze.
She told herself that what happened last night was completely just. He had been a jerk and she hadn't just taken it. Kami, she couldn't help it. She felt bad.
Miroku had groped her, as usual, and she'd slapped him. Perfectly fine, right? True, she had then got in his car and run over him, but it wasn't like he was dead, right? I mean, the man was a chauvinistic pig. He needed to be taught a lesson. What was wrong with that?
Yet, she felt guilty.
It was just that everything had been going so well! He had been such a gentleman and treated her to an amazing dinner and everything was wonderful. Why, then, did he have to ruin it? Besides, he must have known she had a temper, so it was really his fault. He provoked her. And in all truth, she really didn't drive over him. More like she gave him a little bump.
Okay, he had a sprained wrist.
……..Woops......
*****************************
Inuyasha groaned, rolling over. What a crap day. He debated getting up or not for about two hours and gave up, giving into sleep.
What the hell...
*****************************
Kagome threw the bags in the trunk and flopped into the front seat. “Phewf! How tiring!”
She had strolled out of there with five bags and more much in debt. However, on the plus side, she felt loads better. She sat there for a few minutes, thinking about what had happened. She had, perhaps, taken things a little too seriously, but she was Kagome. That was just what she did.
Besides, it wasn't like Inuyasha was such a gentleman. He yelled right back at her, he insulted her.
Oops, Kagome was getting angry! How dare he?! Okay. This was revenge time! But what would she do? What would really get him angry?
Oh my god. Koga!
*****************************
Inuyasha rolled himself out of his bed. Damn… She's haunting my dreams now!
It wasn't his fault the wench had taken what he'd said the wrong way. The girl was so damn touchy. She needed to relax. He knew humans were not the way to go. He dated some in the past, and needless to say, those relationships had not ended well.
Especially that one with that Kikyo girl, the stalker. He'd had to get a restraining order on that one.
He sighed, padding into the bathroom and inspecting his face under the morning light.
“I guess I'm just too gorgeous.”
His black boxers slung low on his hips, his hair mussed from sleep, his fuzzy ears poking up through his silver glory. His body was toned, his voice was low, and his eyes were sinful.
Dang, the boy was hot.
******************************
Miroku pulled into her driveway. He beeped the car shut and flipped his keys into his pocket, smoothing his hair in the car window. He grinned back at himself and turned, striding up to the door.
Sango was fun. Something about her intrigued him, he admitted it. Last night, her hitting him with the car, true, hadn't ended up exactly as he planned, but it would all turn out right. He was sure of it.
He grimaced at his wrist, he really couldn't believe she'd done that. The girl had a temper. He would have to be more careful when he groped her - check for any heavy machinery in the area. She was a feisty one.
Miroku was not what people thought. He had a whole life going on that even Inuyasha didn't know about. People saw him as a good looking guy, a womanizer, a pervert - a bit of fun when things got dull. In all truth, he was a lot more.
His parents died when he was 10, and he'd lived with his Uncle. He got his own place the last year of high school and bought a car, settling into a good life. His parents hadn't left the boy poor. He had enough money to set him up for a very fulfilling life. And that was all, right? There wasn't anything else.
Not exactly. Miroku had quite a time in high school. He hadn't been easy to handle. You could say he played around the rules, bent them to please himself, but the truth was he walked all over them. Rules shmules…
He street raced. He'd borrowed a friend's car at 15 and hadn't exactly given it back. He would go downtown with his friends and race with neighboring groups. And Miroku was no loser. They raced for money, for women, for cars. Whatever there was to race for, they did. But his wild life didn't end at stolen cars and street racing.
Miroku may gross Sango out with his playboy ways but he didn't have that affect on most girls. Miroku was a player! He always had different girlfriends, he'd never been left wanting in any way shape or form. He had never had to work hard for anything in his whole life. That was probably why he was attracted to Sango. She was a challenge, and Miroku lived for those.
This is going to be fun!
He supposed with her he'd have to play cool. She wanted a nice guy, he'd give her one.
He stepped up the front steps towards the front door and rang the doorbell. He heard it reverberate through the house and he watched as a feminine shape descended the stairs. Grinning he pulled his sun glasses on just as the door swung open.
“Miroku!”
She embraced him, her long hair swinging. Miroku pulled her in for a long kiss, lowering his hand to her butt and pressing her against him. She moaned and he lifted her up, carrying her back into the house. He let his jacket slide off and it hit the floor. He pulled her shirt up and over her head, it joined his jacket on the floor.
“Yuka..”
