`<i> Dear Dairy
It's been a year now…
Since you know what happened. I miss him dearly now. Kohaku was the best brother some one could ever ask for. It was amazing how he could disappear so fast. He was the first of many…
Sorry I leaving sentences off to a fragment. Let me explain. Every since Kohaku's disappearance many others have been mysteriously disappearing out in the snow mountains. Some police believe its serial killer with his hiding out in the wilderness. Just as I am about god; agnostic, I will not believe in that theory. I truly think it is the work of that cursed hanyou. I believe my brother is still alive and well but in the hands of evil. I can only wish for his survival.
All the other disappearance are almost perfectly linked to him, that hanyou.
Truly- Sango </i>'
Sango scribbled the last syllable as the professor posted at the front stated her name.
“Mrs. Do you mind recalling the meaning of agnostics?!”
Sango gulped. She knew what it meant perfectly saying she had just used it in her letter but speaking to the class was always a bother. Ever since her brother had passed on she'd had a fear of crowds, loneliness, dark places. Such fears which came so sudden to Sango.
“Uh...Agnostic? The belief on which umm… some one doesn't believe in god unless scientific evidence can prove him.” Sango stated less than clearly flipping her scarlet black hair back.
“Very good Sango.” The professor smiled at Sango courageous action. He had personally witnessed the drastic change in Sango since the disappearance of her brother Kohaku.
RING!
The bell to dismissed the class as it blared through the middle school. Sango sighed and stood up. 10th grade was where she was in her less that contents life.
“Class I will be expecting some research on agnostic people and atheist people. I want their similarities and difference. That'll be all for today. Bow.” The teacher instructed as everyone obeyed. Their heads bowed as a symbol of respect.
The 27 students rushed to the doors as they gathered their books Sango only hovered over her desk in a daze. She continued reading her note, even if she wrote it, over and over in dismay.
“Sango, it's time to go home. You're staying at my house aren't you?” A boy questioned tapping her shoulder. In shock Sango bounced and turned to face him.
`Just Miroku…' Sango sighed to herself peacefully.
“Yea I am.” Sango agreed. Miroku was one of her closest friend beside him being one of the worst lechers to walk this earth. Ignoring his little problem he was sweet and loyal and had known Sango for over 7 years.
“Good.” Miroku smiled. Sango usually stayed at Miroku's house ever since her mother and father died in car crash years ago. She was forced to live with her little brother when he was alive and her Grandmother. Though within the past year her grandmother had become ill more frequently forced to be in the hospital. Miroku having concern in his dear friend and his caring parents agreed to let her stay there. Sango knew very well that her grandmother would pass on soon and Miroku's mother had already welcomed her to stay permanently.
Miroku's house was always pleasantly filled with some scent of cooking whether, chocolate chip cookies or an amazing dish his mother made. They even had another bed and room they aloud Sango to settle. She would be there most of the time except when Miroku had thoroughly pissed her off with his hentai ways.
“What this!?” Miroku questioned grabbing the scrappy piece of paper from the desk as Sango struggled to snatch it back.
“Miroku it's none of your business!” Sango protested with her weak attempt to regain the paper in his clutches. After a few second of Miroku wiggling out of her way as Sango surrender and let the nosey boy read the note with dissatisfaction. She turned her back in a huff as she waited patiently for Miroku to finish the note.
…
He stood blankly at frustration in the thickheaded girl.
“Sango how many time have I told you- -!” Miroku started in a scolding voice. Sango on rolled her eyes.
“I know, can we just get home already?” Sango questioned dropping the topic. She really didn't want to talk about it. It was the worst day to even mention it right now.
“If you wish Sango.” Miroku sighed in defeat grabbing his books simultaneously with Sango.
-
“What do you think about the whole agnostic theory?” Miroku questioned trying to spark a friendly conversation.
“I… I'm not sure… Seems to me just a whole act to get attention.” Sango replied unconcerned with tonight's homework.
“Aye… seems that way eh?” Miroku affirmed as Sango nodded. They walked along the narrow path leading to Miroku's house on, 187 Tarikora St.
It was another warm day this winter. Well warm for northern Japan. It was an icy 25Fo or -10Co. It didn't bother the town folks there considering they'd lived in much colder weather. The snow as about waste high in the places where the snow blow never cleared. Luckily the sidewalks, which Miroku and Sango strolled along was cleared.
Walking through snow was a bother in northern Japan considering it was just the fluffy packing snow it was… ice. A hard layer ice was almost on top of it unless the weather was extremely above average.
To walk through it or rather on top of it was a great task. Many times you would begin to walk feeling fine walking on ice stumbling rarely but then when there was a weak spot where you feel through the icy edges would scrape down your legs causing deep scratches.
“Shit!” Cursed Miroku as he stopped in his tracks eyeing the newspaper stand behind.
“What is it?” Sango asked alarmed in Miroku's language.
“I forgot to bring 25 cents!” Miroku muttered shamelessly.
“My dad's going kill me if I don't get him his newspaper. I already forgot it two times this week! Do you have an extra quarter?” Miroku inquired hopefully.
“I think so but you'll owe me!” Sango admonished reaching into one of her pockets and handing Miroku the shiny coin.
“Thank so much I'll pay you back tomorrow!” Miroku exclaimed sprinting off to the newspaper stand. He quickly slid the coin into the slot as the hatches un locked and allowed him a print. He quickly seized it and strolled back sluggishly with the paper in hand.
“Hey slow poke hurry up or I'm leaving with out you!” Sango urged. Miroku lifted his head and jogged back over to where Sango was waiting patiently. They began walking again in silence as Miroku buried his head and his mind in the paper.
She sighed again heaving a deep breath of fresh air. That's what she loved about this place.
In spite of how lonely it was, deserted or sometimes even isolated, Sango loved the scent of the fresh air the place held. It just felt so good, she sharp distinct feel of the mountain's cool air.
Sango stared down back at the ground the word `mountain' triggering the memories so strong on this day. She could see where the salts where place to melt the ice on the ground.
`I wonder if Kohaku is still…alive…?' She questioned the gods blatantly. Her eyes wandered to the newspaper where Miroku was still much absorbed in.
`Probably sports section…' Sango moaned in exasperation. She knew very well Miroku was a huge fan of soccer or any sport. Since this town didn't have much of a team <b>or</b> a tournament any information on the latest sports action and Miroku was indulged.
Then it hit her- -!
Something on the front cover in bold heading.
<b>`Another girl gone missing in the mountains.'</b>
Her eyes widen as she spoke. “Miroku let me see that!” She exclaimed ripped the paper from his hands flipping to the front cover.
“Hey I was reading that!” Pouted Miroku in disappointment.
“Well what I want to see is more important than sports and plus I gave you the money to by this newspaper!” Sango hissed as she studied the front page.
She continued to read pointed out the main point.
<b>Kagome Higurashi, Missing.</b> Sango gasped.
`The wretched hanyou!' Sango snapped in her mind.
“Miroku we have to go to the police about this!” Sango ordered running in the other direction.
“To where!? HEY WAIT UP!” Miroku exclaimed chasing after the free-minded girl.
-
“I'm sorry ma'am we can't show you the more intense detailed information about this case.” The woman at the front office declared sharply. Sango and Miroku had shown up at the police station 5 minutes ago and since then Sango had been bickering with the sectary about seeing the more information for the Higurashi case.
“But I can help! My brother was kidnapped just like her!” Sango snapped. She didn't want another person to vanish like her brother. It was her own fight against the whole county of police.
“Mrs. Sango we can not give you that personal information. Your brother disappeared two years ago and his case was closed a long time ago. You know that dear.” The sectary sneered. She knew Sango quite well. She had shown up every time some one had gone missing and declared she knew something that could help find them. Yet every single time she was denied and kicked out the door.
“But this time it's different!” Sango protested.
“Sango it's no different then the last 8 time you've been here. You're going to have to move on with Kohaku's death. He was lost in the woods and died there.” She stated firmly. Though every time she spoke those incorrect facts Sango only disbelieved it more.
“NO! Kohaku would never go off in the woods alone! He's not some idiot you make him seem to be! He was kidnapped by that damn hanyou!” Sango cried harshly. Miroku had heard enough of Sango screaming and knew he had already kept her here too long. Placing his firm hand on his shoulder he began to sooth.
“Let's get home before it's dark. I think you need some sleep.” Letting her overprotective friend win her own with his kindness she groaned.
“Fine but I'm coming back for sure.” Sango growled as they exited the building.
They started to walked back towards Miroku home in silence when…
It hit her…
Something she hadn't done for the rest…
If the police wouldn't look for the hanyou then maybe…
She could…?
“Miroku, were not going home.” She commanded harshly stopping her tracks.
“We... aren't?” He stuttered turning around to Sango stubbornness.
“No we're going in the mountains to Find Kagome <b>AND</b> Kohaku!” Sango clarified boldly.
“Oh no Sango… You've seriously lost my mind. The only place you're going is <i>HOME</i>!” Miroku declared marching up and grabbing her arms pulling her fiercely.
WONK!
Sango hand crashed down over Miroku's head.
“Hey what was that for?!” Miroku whined pathetically rubbing his growing goes egg.
“For being an idiot! We're not going home till we find Kagome!” Sango declared tenaciously.
“I - - never!”
“Shut up and let's go!” Sango ordered starting to walk again.
“But Sango…” Miroku objected tenuously.
“How bout I tell your parents about the time you were caught <b>SPYING</b> on Haoshi in the change room!?” Sango tempted maliciously as Miroku recalling the perverted incident.
“You wouldn't!' Miroku pleaded in surprise on just how evil Sango could be.
“Oh I would…”Sango replied easily.
“Fine… I'll go….” Miroku agreed.
“Thank you!” Sango smirked.
-
“It's so cold…” Kagome mumbled burying herself in the baggy clothing the kind hanyou had supplied her.
“It will get colder with nightfall.” Inuyasha explained.
“C-colder!?” Kagome snapped.
“Yea… I'll light a fire for you. But don't get too use to it. As soon as winter lets up you won't be getting a fire.” Inuyasha clarified.
“I won't be staying here till spring!” Kagome exclaimed in disgust.
Who did this person think he was?!
“Yea you will.” Inuyasha corrected gathering wood from around the cave as Kagome could only watch from the corner of the cave.
“I can't stay that long! “ Kagome shrieked.
“I can't just take you back and say oh I saved you. The people of that town want me dead and my head planted on their walls! And if I let you go back on your own you'll have to explain and some one's bound to take it the wrong way. It's too much risk right now for you to go back.” Inuyasha justified coldly.
“But I'll die out here. There's no food, no water no <b>ANYTHING</b>!” Kagome shouted in anxiety of this hanyou thoughts.
Inuyasha only shuddered at the words death…
It was something he wanted so badly but yet couldn't stand to see the girl do so. With the day she'd been here he'd grown found of her. She would even be a bit of help when the hypothermia let off.
“I'll take care of you.” Inuyasha declared as a spark flew from his stone and flint to the dead leave of the pine trees. Kagome could only stare wide-eyed at Inuyasha's reaction.
“You will…I thought you hate- -”
“I don't hate you, I just tolerate you.” Inuyasha blared correcting the shivering girl.
“Oh…” She mumbled back.
“Come over closer to the fire.' Inuyasha ordered softly. She nodded and weakly stumbled over to the ground. Inuyasha taking a risky chance walked over and sat besides her wrapping his own hoari around his. She looked into his ember eyes from a sideways glance in curiosity. They were so beautiful. The fire's reflection dancing in his eyes only made them seem that more desired and lucent.
Why was he so kind to her?
He didn't seem like the person to be like that…
Well it didn't matter as long as she was in good hands. Plus Inuyasha didn't seem that bad after words. If you tolerated his stubborn and hasty personality he wasn't bad at all. He seemed to care for her enough to keep her alive…
“Why are you doing this for me?” Kagome questioned shyly gazing into the flame.
“I can't let you die…” He admitted thoughtlessly.
“If you die then I really will be a murderer.” He stated bitterly. Kagome sighed slightly. There had to be more than he was really saying but now was not the time to question that.
Grr…
Kagome felt her stomach rumbled.
“What the hell was that…!?” Inuyasha questioned startled by the sound.
“My stomach… I haven't eaten since yesterday lunch time.” Kagome explained a pink tint rushing to her cheeks.
“Now to think of it I'm hungry too. Come on we gotta go catch something to eat!” Inuyasha exclaimed standing up and taking his hoari with him.
“You're going to <b>kill</b> something!?” Kagome screeched in horror.
“Yea what do you I'd do!?” He growled pulling her up.
“You're coming with me, I'm not leaving you alone!” Inuyasha stated thoroughly grabbing Kagome arm and pulling her up.
“Why! I don't' want to see you slaughter so poor innocent animal!” Kagome protested.
“You're sick! I'm not leaving you alone!” Inuyasha proclaimed.
“I'm not going to die in the time you go <b>kill</b> something!” Kagome hollered.
“What if you did?!” Inuyasha exclaimed.
“I'm not!” Kagome creamed plopping down on the ground grabbing whatever she could find. Not looking what she was grabbing she snatched some kind of necklace unknowingly.
“You're coming with me and that's that!” Inuyasha stated firmly.
“No I'm not!” Kagome shouted through the necklace at him while she continued. “Just cool down and SIT!”
The necklace latched to Inuyasha suddenly as it glowing a blush pink.
WAM!
Inuyasha smashed to ground eating the rocky dirt bellow. Kagome only blinked.
“Did I do that…?” She muttered senselessly to herself.
“WHAT THE HELL!” Inuyasha hollered tugging at the newfound ordainment around his neck. It would budge.
“Uh…” Kagome stuttered weakly.
“I didn't mean it! I just said sit!”
WAM!
“YOU IDIOTIC GIRL WHAT DID YOU DO!?” Inuyasha snarled pulling his face out of the grungy ground.
“I- I- I don't know! Every time I say `sit'- -” Kagome said cut off be a rather large,
WAM!
“Sorry…” Kagome muttered.
“THEN WHY THE HELL DO YOU KEEP SAYING IT WENCH!” Inuyasha grimaced yet again in the dirt.
“Hey don't call me that! If you know what for the better of you I'd shut up saying all I have to do is say the `s' word!” Kagome smirked profound of her knew control.
“Whatever! Lets go…” Inuyasha growled finally tugging Kagome out of the cave.
“But- -!”
“I'd can it if I where you <b>YOU</b>!” Inuyasha sneered showing his fangs. Kagome only mumbled dry language knowing he was taking care of her and she'd die otherwise.
-
“Inuyasha there's nothing to eat out here!” Kagome whined.
“You won't catch anything! Why don't we just find some barriers?” Kagome inquired sauntering over to a lush bush with thorns and deep red barriers covering it.
“Because, most barriers around here are poisonous to humans including those ones. Plus why would you wanna eat those raw!?” Inuyasha questioned.
“Fine you win… go find some game.” She sighed. Just then Kagome remember her bag that she'd brought with her. Maybe Inuyasha had taken that too when he'd saved her.
“Inuyasha?” She prompted.
“Sh! I hear something!” The hanyou hissed to the girl.
“But - -!”
“I said shh!” Inuyasha ordered.
“Sango we're going to get lost out here like those other people! It's almost <b>DARK</b>!” A voice was heard.
“No we're not! We're going to find Kagome and maybe even my brother!” Another responded.
“There people, quick behind that bush!” Inuyasha exclaimed in a whisper pushing Kagome behind the berry bush she stood next to.
“We didn't you just run?” Kagome questioned inaudibly.
“They would hear something so shut up!” Harshly whispered Inuyasha. Kagome nodded and silenced herself as the couple approached the area.
“We're not going to find Kagome like this!” The boy gasped. It looked like he was hungry and growing inpatient with the girl.
“Oh stop complaining!” The young woman shushed him. She had a caramel complexion to match the man and scarlet black hair flowing down past her shoulders.
“Do you know them!?” Inuyasha asked intrigued.
“No!” Kagome replied louder than she needed. Inuyasha gazed at her a glowing ember glare with temper raging in his eyes.
“What was that!?” The young woman questioned.
“What was- -”
“Great Kagome…” The hanyou congratulated sarcastically.
“THAT!” Exclaimed the woman.
“Shh!” Kagome nudged trying to still go indistinctively unnoticed.
“It's coming from over…” Sango stated walking suspiciously over to a bush next to the berry bush where Inuyasha and Kagome hid.
“Deaf person…” Inuyasha muttered.
“AH HA!” The woman exclaimed surprising the girl and the hanyou with her plot to find them.
“OH MY GOD!” The woman exclaimed. She stumbled away as Inuyasha pulled Kagome up from her feet and dragged her backwards.
“YOU- YOU- YOU'RE THE ONE WHO KILLED MY BROTHER!” She snarled regaining her sense of anger then practically jumping on Inuyasha as he stood up and wandered back.
“SANGO!” The young man exclaimed in concern.
“INUYASHA!” Kagome cried.
“I didn't kill ANYBODY!” Inuyasha snapped pushing the girl to the ground.
“LIAR!” The woman apparently named Sango hollered back.
“Sango stop this!” The man commanded.
“NO Miroku!”
“Sangi- - or whatever you name is! Inuyasha's innocent he saved me!” Kagome exclaimed in hope her words would correct things. Just as Kagome pronounced the last syllable Sango fell to the ground again.
“He- - what!? Didn't he kidnap you!?” Sango questioned attention now focused on Kagome as Inuyasha brushed him body off to regain his cocky wits.
“No! I ran away!” Kagome explained calming the girl as she walked closer to Inuyasha.
“If it wasn't for him I would have been dead.” Kagome stated sincerely.
“Then what about - -?”
“You little brother?” The man finished her sentence.
“Yea…” Replied Sango spacing off for a second.
“I'm sorry. I should introduce myself. I'm Sango, that's Miroku. You must be Kagome Higurashi.” Sango explained regaining herself control.
“Hello.” Miroku greeted. He was tall and lean with short black hair. His eyes were a violet identical to Sango's.
“This is Inuyasha and I don't mean to be rude but… how do you know my name?” Kagome questioned in curiously trying to avoid any sudden disliking.
“Feh.” Inuyasha huffed as Kagome nudged him again.
“Everyone in town knows you now. You're now reported missing; all the police are looking for you. I saw you're picture and the article in the paper.” Miroku explained as Kagome heart sunk.
“I thought that would happen…” Kagome stated in her misfortune.
“So it's Inuyasha eh? That's the legendary boy in the `snow drifts' name.” Miroku chuckled trying to push of the blanket of woolen silence.
“Yes… got a problem with that?!” Inuyasha snapped coldly.
“Inuyasha!” Kagome scolded.
“Nope!” Miroku replied backing off immediately.
“Feh…” Inuyasha only muttered regaining the blanketing silence. Kagome eyed the young woman looking to be about her age as she went into a deep state of thought.
“Inuyasha…?” Sango questioned out of the blue.
“Yes?”
“If you didn't kill/kidnap my brother who did?” Sango asked dieing to know anything she could.
“How should I know…” Inuyasha mumbled sharply.
“ I just thought since you lived out here maybe you could have a chance of knowing something. He disappeared two years ago and he almost started a chain of disappearance in this town.” Sango explained her voice for of the mournful memories.
“Two years ago…” Inuyasha exclaimed softly seeming to be thinking something over.
“Naraku…” He snapped bitterly out of the sudden.
