Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha or any of its characters, Rumiko Takahashi does though, and that makes ME jealous!

What happened in our last chapter: Inuyasha and the gang had brought me to see Keade. She said some every.... interesting words that made everyone laugh (Except for Kagome because she has no sense of humor at all.) Then it was training time. Inuyasha taught me some cool maneuvers that made everyone happy to watch. I took Inuyasha down and out. Then it was bath time. I found Inuyasha in a spring I undressed and hopped in with him. No problem, Kagome doesn't know about this so keep it a secret. I met up with Miroku and gave him some ideas for his addiction with Sango. We spent the night at Kaede's hut and Inuyasha and I sat beneath the stars. Isn't it wonderful? Now I get to kick Kagomes ass in front of everyone. I hope it's not the other way around. So read and review because if you don't I'll be sad. : (But if you do then I will be happy:)

Chapter 3 A Trip To The Sword-Smith, Totousi And The Meeting Of A New Friend

"Ok Kat you need to watch out for Kagome, she won't be like the others at all. Do you understand?" Inuyasha asked. He looked worried but I was determined to beat the young miko in front of all friends. The last few battles weren't that bad. Everyone had some powers that they couldn't use. Miroku couldn't use his Kazzana (his wind tunnel), Sango couldn't use poison powder, and Kagome couldn't purify. Of course I had a limit too. I wasn't aloud to use my Tornado of Blood. This was something I picked up on my own. The attack sent out a force of shredding wind that basically cut the opponent apart. It was very powerful.

I practiced my attack on low-level demons that lurked in the forest. In the past four days that I had been in the past, I had helped collect seven jewel shards, which made a total of ten. Inuyasha and I still took our baths together after every fight and Miroku and I still had our sessions. Kagome was getting angrier with every passing day. The only people who seemed ok with everything was Sango, Shippo, and Kilara.

I had found out about two days ago that I had a mental connection with the fire cat demon. Sometimes she would sit on my shoulder or on my lap and we would talk. Apparently she had a small crush on Miroku and hoped that him and Sango would get together.

"Alright here are the rules. Kat you may not use your Tornado of Blood, Kagome you may not purify. We will start in two minutes." Miroku announced to the group. Inuyasha was giving me a smile that made me even more determined to win. Sango was talking to Kagome and Shippo and Kilara were playing in the surrounding grass. Miroku walked over to a tree was leaning against it and talked to Inuyasha who was in one of its branches and I was stairing out into the distant horizon.

Kagome walked over to where I was standing and looked at the horizon with me. "I hope you win." Kagome said sadly. "Why do you say that?" I asked curious to know what she meant. "I hope you win because it would make Inuyasha happy and don't like to see him sad or disappointed." I met Kagomes dark brown eyes with my amber green ones. "We should fight our best and leave Inuyasha out of it. If you win that just means I need to work harder at fighting. If you l same reason. It shouldn't matter about how Inuyasha feels about this fight. Yes, he is a great teacher, but the only way we can really learn is by experience. " I had heard a speech like the one I was giving many times by my teachers, so I had gotten pretty good at saying them. Kagome looked deeper into my eyes. "They say that the eyes are the gate ways to someone's souls. In your soul I see hatred, but then I also see a deep love for someone. You are hiding something and I am determined to find out what it is. I will win and you will be the loser this time Kat not me." Kagome walked over to her bow and arrow and got into a fighting position.

Miroku, watching us closely, stopped his conversation with Inuyasha and got ready to referee the upcoming fight. I knew Inuyasha had heard everything Kagome and I said because before the fight started he told me good luck and to win. Not for me, but for him. I was glad when he said those words, because they made me think that he truly loved me. He never said that he did or didn't but I was hoping deep into my heart that he did.

"Let's get this fight underway." Miroku said. I got into my fighting stance like Kagome and got ready for probably the hardest match of my life. "Go!!!" Miroku yelled his voice echoing across the hill and into the countryside. Kagome notched an arrow and released it sending a freezing spell along with it. I was ready for it and dodged it with ease. "Is that all you got?" I yelled with a big smirk plastered on my face. "No I haven't even started. Ohh and by the way, wipe that damn smirk off your face!" Kagome yelled an evil glint in her eye. I knew that if she didn't get rid of me fast that she would use a purifying spell to turn me into my human form and most likely kill me.

With my speed I got up behind her and extended my claws. I wrapped my claws around her neck from behind and whispered into her ear so only she could hear. "Give up now Kagome before I really have to pull out the big guns." At that, Kagome elbowed me in the gut so I would release. I did and that gave her just enough time to notch another arrow. "No Kat, this is the part where you give up." She released the arrow. Everything seemed as if it were in slow motion. I could see the arrow coming at me. It was a purification arrow!! I quickly ducked and let it hit a nearby tree. "Kat is the winner." Miroku yelled out.

"What!? How did she win?" Kagome asked trying to look puzzled and innocent all at the same time. "You used a purification arrow." Miroku stated calmly. "And I specifically said no purification arrows." Kagome glared at me and then scowled. "It was not a purification arrow." Kagome said turning red in the face. Not out of embarrassment, but out of anger. "I have seen enough of your purification arrows to know what they look like." Miroku said "And believe me, that was a purification arrow." Kagome glared at Miroku and stalked off the hill with Sango, Shippo, and Kilara at her heels.

Inuyasha jumped out of the branch that he was sitting in and landed next to me. "We leave tonight for Totousi's home." Inuyasha said before he left to chase after Kagome. That left me with Miroku. I smiled at him and he did the same in return. "That was a great fight." Miroku said still with the same smile on his face. "Thank you very much." I said happily. "You were a very good referee Miroku, very.... official." Miroku blushed slightly before he asked the question. "Does that mean that since you are going with Inuyasha that we won't have any more sessions together." "Yes, but you are doing fine. While I am away, l want you to just keeping practicing what we were doing and you will be fine." Miroku nodded and began to walk down the hill towards Kaede's hut.

I was left all alone. I decided that I more then likely smelled bad so I went to the spring where Inuyasha and I bathed to take my own bath. When I was finished I walked back to the hut lost in my own thought.

' I wonder what type of sword I will be getting. I hope it is strong like Inuyasha's and maybe have some powers like Sesshomaru. I wonder if I will ever get to see Sesshomaru while I am here. I hope I do that would be great.'

I finally made it to the hut. I quietly walked inside and sat down in the corner opposite from Inuyasha. I was about to rest until Inuyasha got up and came over to me. He sat next to me and whispered. "We will leave as soon as l return so be ready. We will rest later on in the day time when there are not as many demons to harass us." I nodded and began to pack.

'What should I pack? I wont need clothes or food, and I can sleep in the trees with Inuyasha, so l really don't need anything at all. Maybe I should ask Inuyasha what I need.'

I looked around the hut for Inuyasha but he was nowhere to be seen. "I guess he went somewhere." I said to myself. Kilara jumped into my lap. I looked over to where Sango and Miroku were asleep in there own corners and Shippo in Kagomes sleeping bag. I looked at Kilara and began to pet her. She purred and we started to talk.

Inuyasha's POV

I left Kat to pack her things and began my search for Kagome. She came back a short while to tuck Shippo in for the night, but then she left and I wanted to tell her good-bye before I left with Kat to get her sword. I sniffed the air. There! She is sitting in a tree not to far from here. I walked over to the tree she was sitting in and looked up. Kagome was sitting in one of the higher branches, the wind from up there gently blowing her raven locks around her face. I quickly jumped up to her and sat down. "Kagome, Kat and I will be leaving for Totousi's as soon as I return." "Fine." was the answer that I got before she spoke again. "I suppose you have come to say good-bye before you leave to run away with her." I abruptly looked at Kagome. "If it makes you feel any better, I promise to return to you." Kagome looked into my eyes. "Promise?" "I promise." Kagome smiled and hugged me. "Thank you Inuyasha."

"Your welcome, we need to leave now so I leave you to your thoughts." I jumped out of the tree and landed gracefully on the ground. I waved at Kagome and ran off to the hut.

Back To Kat In The Hut

' I wonder what is taking so long?' I said to Kilara mentally. ' He will return. Do not worry.' Kilara said in her all knowing voice. ' If you say so Kilara. As a matter of fact I can smell him coming.' I smiled at her and walked to the door. Inuyasha stepped inside. "Are you ready to go?" he asked looking anxious to leave. "Yes I am ready." I smiled at him and waved at Kilara. She meowed and told me to be careful. I mentally thanked her and left with Inuyasha. We walked a long time in silence and he didn't even look at me. At dawn we slept for a few hours. Inuyasha went out hunting and I gathered firewood. I started a fire and waited for my friend to return. I waited and waited and he still hadn't returned. I got worried and went in searched for him. "Inuyasha? Inuyasha were are you?" Then I remembered that I was a hanyou and began to sniff for him. The scent, it was like it just disappeared. I headed back to camp thinking that Inuyasha was strong and would call out if he had any trouble. I set some more firewood in the fire and jumped into a nearby tree for a little more sleep.

Then I heard it. It was a rustling sound in the brush below. I waited quietly for the intruder. If it was a demon, I would attack with my
Tornado of Blood if it was a human I would ask why he was here and make him leave. I waited some more. Then I sniffed the air one more time to see if I could now get a scent. Still, nothing.

Then...."Kat could you help me please?" It was Inuyasha. He didn't sound like he was in trouble but you never knew with him. "Coming Inuyasha." I called out into the darkness. I rushed over to where I had heard the sound. There was Inuyasha in a clearing carrying two large, male deer. "Inuyasha why did you hunt so much?" I asked hoping that he didn't expect me to eat a whole deer by myself. "I'll tell you when we get to camp." He huffed turning slightly red in the face. "Let me help you with that." I said while taking one of the carcasses away from him. "Thanks." Inuyasha mumbled looking slightly embarrassed for asking help.

Inuyasha and I walked to our camp in silence. Then we skinned and roasted both of the large animals. "Ummm, Inuyasha?" "Hmmm, yes Kat." "Please don't tell me that you want me to eat an entire deer by myself." I blushed and looked down at my bare feet. Inuyasha laughed, "No Kat, we can share one." I looked up and smiled at him. "Thanks. If I had to eat an entire deer all by myself you would have to roll me to Totousi's home." I smiled and gave Inuyasha a wink. "So what are we going to do to the other one?" I asked hoping that he didn't kill the buck for nothing.

"Well, we can take the skin and turn it into a bag and then carry the meat in it so we can eat it with out stopping to hunt. It should last us for a while." Inuyasha looked at me thoughtfully. "Or we could just leave it here." I shook my head. "But doesn't take a really long time to make a bag, not to mention we have no supplies to make a bag." Inuyasha gave me a knowing look like he had done something like this before. "If we start now the skin will be dried out by nightfall and as for the supplies, we could use a bone as a needle and the sinew from the cartilage for thread." I gave him a disgusted look and I felt like I was about to through up. "I hope you know how to sew, because I'm not gonna do it." Inuyasha chuckled which made me blush for acting like a girly-girl. Normally, I would be tomboyish and at least try to act cool. But I really, really, REAllY didn't want to do it.

"Fine I'll do it." Inuyasha took the skin from the buck and laid it next to the fire, he then took the carcass and strung out the cartilage and picked out a small bone for the needle. I watched intently from the other side of camp. The morning ticked by and soon noon was at our doorstep. Or should I say campsite. Inuyasha had had the cartilage thread ready to go and in the bone needle. So all we had to do know was wait for the skin to dry out.

I walked through the forest searching for a hot spring to relax in. It took me a while until I found one, but I got the job done. I found the spring deep inside a crystal cave. I walked in and waited for my eyes to adjust to the darkness. Finally, when it did I noticed some movement in the back. I sent out my
Tornado of Blood attack. Out of the cave rushed out a family of raccoons. "For a second there I thought there were demons." I laughed nervously. I walked into the spring after undressing. "Perfect." I sighed to myself. I slipped deeper into the warm water.

I heard footsteps behind me and didn't even bother to look up. "Hey Inuyasha, you should come in here with me the water is great." "Inuyasha? Who is Inuyasha and why are you in my cave?" asked an angry demon voice. I slowly turned around to see who was there. It was a wolf youki. "I am so sorry! I.... I didn't mean to intrude, I just wanted to take a bath and I smelt water so that is where I headed. I didn't know anyone lived here.... Please don't kill me." I began to whimper and looked up into the demons face. He was actually pretty cute. He had hansom green eyes and red hair that was tied into a low hanging ponytail.

The man smiled wolfishly and looked down at my breasts. I followed his gaze and noticed what he was looking at. I quickly covered myself up.

'How am I supposed to get my clothes on without this guy watching me. I don't even know if he is friendly. He looks it, but looks can be deceiving.'

"I'm not gonna kill you." said the young man. "What's your name?" I looked at him. "My...My name is Katharina, but I go by Kat. What's your name?" "My name is Teranchi, but I go by Teran." He smiled again. "Ummm, well Teran, could you please hand me my clothes?" I pointed to the pile of clothing in the corner of the cave. Teran shook his head no. "I'm sorry I can't do that. You are the only female her in miles and I need a mate." "Well, I'm sorry but you can't have me. My heart belongs to another." I glared at him. "Well, whom does your heart belong to?" asked Teranchi. "No of your damn business. INUYASHA!!!!" I called out.

There was gust of wind and a flash of red. "What do ya want? Who the hell is this?" Inuyasha pointed a finger at the demon standing in front of me who was closely watching my naked form. "This is the wolf demon Teranchi who won't give me my clothes back!" I yelled out. "Why don't you just do like you did with Kouga?" Inuyasha asked not even bothering with the demon. "What? You know my brother?" Teran asked. "Kouga's your brother?" I asked tilting my head so that I looked like a lost puppy. "Yeah, I left the pack a short while ago because the asshole wouldn't let me take a mate." "That's horrible. Why don't you hand me my clothes and we can talk about it." I was hoping that he was at least a little bit stupid. All I wanted was to get my clothes on and get the hell out of here.

"I don't think so...mate." Teranchi said. "Mate!? Since when were you his mate?" Inuyasha asked. "I'm not!" I yelled at him. "He just assumed this since I am bathing in his spring." Inuyasha glared at the wolf and handed me my clothes. "Thanks" I mumbled. I was about to get out but thought better of it. "By the way, what did you do to my brother?" asked Teran. "She sat on him naked because we were all spying on her and the other girls why they were bathing. He got a good view of everything." I blushed deeply. "That was you? Kouga told the pack about the incident and said that you had a perfect body. I wanna see!" Teran said as he lifted me up out of the spring.

I stood there in front of him and Inuyasha with water glistening off of my body. "Get the hell away from me." I said while doing my best to cover up. "Wow" was all that Teranchi said. "Yup." Inuyasha agreed. I blushed deeper and pushed the two boys out of the cave. "There you got your wish so get out so I can get changed." I shoved them harder and went to put on my clothes trusting that Inuyasha wouldn't let an intruder look at me any further. I got changed and went to the front of the cave to listen to what the boys were saying.

"Is she your mate?" Teran asked. "No, of course she isn't my mate, if she was I would have marked her by now." Inuyasha said angrily. "Well, since you don't want her, can I have her?" Teran asked hopefully. I knew that Inuyasha was going to do something stupid so I walked out of the cave. "Ummm, Teranchi?" "Teran." "Ok,
Teran, I owe you for letting me bathe in your spring." I hoped he didn't want to have anything that I couldn't provide for him like my virginity. "Where were you and the dog heading?" he questioned. Inuyasha was about to say something but I shook my head as in to say don't-go-there.

"
Inuyasha and I were heading out to the great master sword-smith Totousi, so I could get a sword to fight with. " I knew where this conversation was leading and I knew Inuyasha wasn't going to like it. "Kat, your dept will be repaid if you let me tag along." Yup I was right. Teran continued on, "Either that or you have to be my mate." "Inuyasha what do ya say, he can come with can't he?" I gave him a pleading look. I really didn't want to be this guys mate and I really didn't care if he came with or not.

"Fine he can come." Inuyasha mumbled. "Under one condition, you have to leave right after she gets her sword." Teran though this over. "Deal." they both shook hands and Inuyasha began to walk back to camp. I ran to catch up with him. "I really owe you Inuyasha." I whispered in his ear. "You know it." He smiled playfully and walked off again which left me here with the wolf.

"So...now what?" I asked Teranchi. "You can sit down and we could talk a bit." "Sure." I sat down next to him. "What do ya wanna talk about?" Teranchi looked at me thoughtfully. "The dog boy Inuyasha."

' Figures, all the guys I have met always want to talk about other boys that I know. The only guy who hasn't done that was Inuyasha'

"All right, what do you wanna know?" "Do you truly love him?"

'This guy who tried to take me as his mate by force is asking me if I love Inuyasha. What do I tell him? Do I love Inuyasha or is it just puppy love?'

"I don't know." Was all I said before I got up and ran off towards camp? I reached camp and minutes later so did Teranchi. I jumped into my tree and watched Inuyasha finish up the bag that he started this morning. "Inuyasha, how many days journey is it?" "Five days." Great I thought. Five days with the wolf and with the jealous puppy. "This is going to be interesting." I mumbled. We finished getting ready and started off on our adventure as soon as the sunset.

Inuyasha traveled on my right, Teranchi on my left. We traveled again in silence. I couldn't take it anymore I needed to hear something. I thought for a moment for a good song to sing. The first song that came to mind was
Numb by Linkin Park.
I began to sing.

I'm tired of being what you want me to be
feeling so faithless
lost under the surface

I don't know what you're expecting of me
put under the pressure
of walking in your shoes
every step that I take is another mistake to you

I've
become so numb
I can't feel you there
become so tired
so much more aware
I'm becoming this
all I want to do
is be more like me
and be less like you

can't you see that you're smothering me
holding too tightly
afraid to lose control

cause everything that you thought I would be
has fallen apart right in front of you
every step that I take is another mistake to you
and every second I waste is more than I can take

I've
become so numb
I can't feel you there
become so tired
so much more aware
I'm becoming this
all I want to do
is be more like me
and be less like you

And I know
I may end up failing too
But I know
You were just like me with someone disappointed in you

I've
become so numb
I can't feel you there
become so tired
so much more aware
I'm becoming this
all I want to do
is be more like me
and be less like you

I've become so numb
I can't feel you there
Is everything what you want me to be
I've become so numb
I can't feel you there
Is everything what you want me to be

The two boys listened intently to my singing. When I was finished Inuyasha asked the stupidest question ever that really pissed me off. "Since when could you sing?" I couldn't believe he asked me that! "I think it is beautiful." Teranchi said smiling. "Please sing another." I smiled at him and decided to make Inuyasha jealous again. I walked over to Teranchi and hugged him "If you insist." I whispered. I heard Inuyasha growl. I turned around and stuck out my tongue. I released the demon and began to think of another good Linkin Park song. I got it In the End. One of my favs.

(It starts with)
One thing / I don't know why
It doesn't even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind / I designed this rhyme
To explain in due time

All I know
time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away
It's so unreal

Didn't look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on / but didn't even know
Wasted it all just to
Watch you go
I kept everything inside and even though I tried / it all fell apart
What it meant to me / will eventually / be a memory / of a time when I tried
so hard

And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

One thing / I don't know why
It doesn't even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind / I designed this rhyme
To remind myself how
I tried so hard

In spite of the way you were mocking me
Acting like I was part of your property
Remembering all the times you fought with me
I'm surprised it got so (far)

Things aren't the way they were before
You wouldn't even recognize me anymore
Not that you knew me back then
But it all comes back to me
In the end

You kept everything inside and even though I tried / it all fell apart
What it meant to me / will eventually / be a memory / of a time when I
I tried so hard

And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

I've put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
And for all this

There's only one thing you should know
I've put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
And for all this

There's only one thing you should know
I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

Teranchi asked me to sing the song over and over again until he was able to sing it with me. I smiled as he sang the chorus on his own perfectly. Inuyasha glared at him as we laughed. Inuyasha I have a song that you might like. It's called Crawling.

crawling in my skin
these wounds they will not heal
fear is how I fall
confusing what is real

there's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface
consuming/confusing
this lack of self-control I fear is never ending
controlling/I can't seem

to find myself again
my walls are closing in
(without a sense of confidence and I'm convinced that there's just too much pressure to take)
I've felt this way before
so insecure

crawling in my skin
these wounds they will not heal
fear is how I fall
confusing what is real

discomfort, endlessly has pulled itself upon me
distracting/reacting
against my will I stand beside my own reflection
it's haunting how I can't seem...

Inuyasha listened to the song. "I relate to this song." I said to him as we walked through the dense forest. "Because a lot of the time that is how I feel." Inuyasha looked at me and then at the ground. "Right, feelings." he said. Teranchi and I looked at each other before we reached a raging river. "Inuyasha." "What is it?" He looked into my eyes and sniffed the air. "Your afraid." He said. I whimpered in reply. "When I was little I fell into a river that almost drowned me." I stared at the river at shuddered. "I know this river very well." Teran said. "It is very fast, but there is not a shallow spot for miles. The fastest way to just jump across." Teranchi swiftly jumped over the river and landed with ease on the other side.
"Inuyasha, I'm still afraid." "I know." I looked into his amber eyes. He hugged me then whispered, "Close your eyes." I did as I was instructed. With my eyes closed he picked me up bridal style and jumped across. While we were in the middle of the jump I opened my eyes and looked down. I saw the river and nudged closer to Inuyasha's chest. I knew that he could still smell my fear when we finally landed on the other side of the rapids.
"Thank you Inuyasha." I said feeling slightly embarrassed. "No problem." He smiled and continued on walking. Teranchi followed and I didn't want to be all alone so I ran to catch up. It was going to be daybreak soon so we all rested before we headed off again at mid-afternoon. It went on in silence for the next couple days stopping only for sleep and food, until we got to the mountains where the sword-smith lived. We climbed, jumped, and ran all the way to the sword-smiths home.
"Inuyasha what is that smell?" I asked as I held my nose. "Sulfur. This is an inactive volcano." I nodded and continued walking. Up ahead was a cave. "Is that where Totousi lives?" Inuyasha nodded his head. "I wonder why he lives here?" asked Teranchi. "Let's go." Inuyasha started off towards the cave. Teranchi and I caught up with no problem. "Hey old man!" Inuyasha called through the cave.
"I thought I got rid of you." said a shadow off to my right. "Well, you didn't." Inuyasha nudged me forward into the cave. "What is wrong with Tetsusaiga now?" asked the shadow. "Nothin." replied Inuyasha. "It's fine." "Then why are you here! Did you just think you could come here unanouncent for a visit?" A giant hammer came out of now where and was about to hit Inuyasha. I saw everything in slow motion. The hammer heading towards Inuyasha's head. I pushed him out of the way and did a tumble-roll across the floor. I got up and looked at the shadow.

"What did you do that for!?" I yelled angrily at the shadow. "You could have really hurt him." I looked at Inuyasha and then at Totousi. The demon sword-smith walked out of the shadow of the cave. "You are very fast." he said walking toward me. He stopped in front of me and grinned. "You look like Inuyasha. Is he your mate." I blushed. "No he isn't my mate." "Then why the hell do you look like him?" Totousi asked still wearing a damn grin on his face. "Long story, I'll tell you later." I looked at Teranchi and Inuyasha.

' Why does everyone think that I am Inuyasha's mate. I was and still am a big fan of Inuyasha and all, that's why I designed myself to look like him in the computer. I thought he was hansom just like his brother and almost all the other guys here. But I didn't think that when I changed my appearance on my laptop that everyone would think that I was his mate.'

"Totousi I have a favor to ask." Inuyasha said through the silence. "Shhhh." Totousi said in reply. "Let me look her over before we make her sword." "I.... I...Ohh, never mind." Inuyasha went over to Teranchi to talk about something while Totousi looked me over. He circled around me like a vulture waiting for a sick animal to die. "You are like Sesshomaru in a lot of ways. You are fast maybe even faster then him, I can see that you have very faint markings on your face that signifies that you are Taiyouki of the Western lands. Interesting, very interesting. You are not mated to Sesshomaru now are you." I shook my head no. "If I was wouldn't you be able to smell the mating mark on me?" I was surprised that I still remembered the whole thing about mating and marking from the show.
"And how can I have the marks of Sesshomaru on my face when I deleted those?" I scratched my head in confusion. "What is delete?" asked the sword-smith, the hanyou, and the wolf demon all at the same time. "Never mind." I mumbled, "I was talking to myself." Then I remembered.

' Right before I saved the program I had the markings of Sesshomaru. I didn't like them so I got rid of them. I guess in computers you never really get rid of it, you just kinda make it not visible to the untrained eye.' I smiled at the thought. 'I guess this makes me Taiyouki of the Wastelands like Sesshomaru.' I giggled then looked at the boys in the corner talking about who-knows-what.

Totousi faced me again. "Smile and let me see your fang." I did as I was told. He looked over both of my enlarged canine teeth. He then pulled out an even larger pair of pliers. I closed my eyes. "Open your mouth." Again I did as I was told. "Is this going to hurt?" I asked hoping that the answer was no. "Yup you bet it is." Inuyasha came over to me as I whimpered at the thought. He rubbed the small of my back. Teran, apparently feeling left out, came over and told me encouragement. "Don't worry it's gonna be fine." I nodded and opened my mouth wider. I felt the pliers go in and pull. As soon as the tooth was out I yelled. I could feel the blood in my mouth. I felt the tears prick my eyes and dare to fall.

I wiped my eyes and smiled. I looked funny with blood all over my mouth and missing a tooth. "How long will it be until the tooth grows back?" I asked Totousi counted his fingers and mumbled something under his breath that I didn't catch. "About one day." I laughed. "Ok that's fine with me." I sighed in relief. I really didn't want to be walking around looking like I got in a fight or something. Totousi looked at Inuyasha. "The sword will take a week." "A WEEK!!!" Inuyasha yelled out. Teranchi grinned and looked at Inuyasha. "I guess I'm gonna be here for a while." "I guess I'm gonna be here for a while." Inuyasha mimicked poorly. I hit him on the head. "Inuyasha stop acting like a three year old." Teranchi pointed and laughed silently as Inuyasha rubbed his head. "That goes for you too Teranchi." I whacked him one too. "Bitch." They said in unison. "You damn bet I am." I said as I turned to Totousi and leave the two children to argue.

"Totousi may I ask if we can take refuge in your home while we are waiting for the sword?" Totousi thought this over for a moment. "Well, since you did ask 'unlike SOME OTHER HALF DEMON WHO I WILL NOT MENTION" Inuyasha looked up. "What?" he asked. "Never mind." Totousi mumbled. "Yes, you may stay." I smiled and hugged the demon sword-smith. "Thank you!" I laughed and stood up. "You are the best." I went over to Inuyasha and made him stand up too.

"Inuyasha can please see the Tetsusaiga." Inuyasha took out the sword and handed it to me. It was still in its older form so I changed it into the sword that I knew and loved. I examined the blade and the hilt. "Totousi will my sword be something like this?" He shrugged. "It all depends on the fang. It will be what it will be." I nodded and hugged Inuyasha. "Thank you." I then went over to Teranchi to talk.

Inuyasha's POV
' I wonder how she was able to change the Tetsusaiga? I'll ask Totousi later when the others are asleep.'
I walked over to the entrance of the cave and leaned against the wall. I saw a flash of movement but decided it was a trick of my senses because of the surrounding sulfur. I looked out at the setting sun wondering if Kagome and the others were watching the same thing. I turned around and headed back into the cave because the smell was making my eyes water. "Hey you guys why don't we sleep for a while, we will scout the surrounding area out in the morning to make sure there are no jewel shards or strong youki that we need to worry about." My two companions nodded and found their own corner to spend the night in. I walked over to the corner opposite Kat and across from Teranchi to make sure he didn't try anything funny during the night. Leaving it at that, I slept for the next half an hour.

I slowly opened one eye to make sure everyone was asleep except for the sword-smith. The others were sound asleep. I could hear their steady breathing and slow heart beat. I quietly got up to talk to the smith. He was sitting in front of the fire gazing into its coal that made it burn. "Totousi, I have a question to ask you." I said in a whisper. He nodded his head and gestured for me to sit down. I stepped over some tools and sat down next to the old man.

"What is it that you wanted to know?" Totousi asked. "I need to know how Kat transformed the Tetsusaiga with out getting zapped like what happens to Sesshomaru. And how come I always feel like I need to protect her from everyone else? And why...." Totousi covered my mouth. I bit down so he would release it and that is what he did. "For one Inuyasha, you said that you had
a question for me. But since you had more I will answer them. Let's start with your sword, please hand it to me." I carefully pulled out the Tetsusaiga and handed it to its creator. "Good, now here is why your friend over there is able to hold and transform the Tetsusaiga." He paused and gazed back into the fire like he was thinking hard about something very important.
He shook his head and continued on. "Your sword is controlled by blood, thoughts and feelings. Now, she is only able to touch it and not get hurt because you didn't
want her to feel pain. And since you wanted her to be happy, she got to transform the Tetsusaiga because that is what made her happy. Another reason that she was able to transform the sword was she might be..." I waited for the end of the sentence but it never came. "She may be what?" I asked. I stared deep into the eyes of the sword-smith. "She might be.... your soul mate." I watched him closely. "Soul mate? What's that?"

"It means that in a past life she was your mate. But now that your two souls are together again you share the same blood, which means that she could control the sword just as well as you. That answers your second question too. Being soul mates means that you always feel like you should protect her." Totousi turned and looked at Kat's sleeping form. "But Inuyasha, it's just a theory." He smiled and changed his gaze back into the fire.

' Just a theory. Hmmmm, I wonder if the theory is true. Tomorrow I will let her try out the Tetsusaiga. If she is able to do some easy attacks with it she would have to be my soul-mate.'

"Inuyasha, you should get some sleep." I nodded and walked back to my corner. I fell asleep almost as soon as I sat down. I had wonderful dreams about Kat and I slept soundlessly.

Back To Kat In Her Corner Not Really Asleep
I was asleep for most of the time, but when I felt a change in the air I decided that I should catch a glimpse of my surroundings. I opened one eye slowly and scanned out the area. I saw Inuyasha get up and walk over to Totousi who was sitting in front of the fire. They talked for a while. I listened carefully to the conversation that they were having. My fuzzy ears moving slowly on top of my head picking up sound like radar dishes.

' I wonder what this whole soul mate thing is all about. I didn't know that Inuyasha had an urge to protect me, which is kinda creepy. I wonder how he feels about Teranchi and Kouga and all the other guys that I flirted with. Does he even know what the word flirted means?' I sniffed the air. ' What's that smell? It smells like Inuyasha in a way but different. The same but different. Could it be? Nahh it can't be could it.'

I began to get tired and fell asleep listening to the steady breathing of Inuyasha and Teranchi.
