Chapter 2

Getting Help

Kira ran as fast as her legs would carry her. Her hooves pounding relentlessly on the ground, slinging the earth behind her. She had to get to the western lands and fast, her best friend, rider and companion needed help. After about an hour, Kira was still running at full speed, and heading straight for the gates of the great castle of the western lands. The guards looked at her with mixed emotions, fear, wonder and amazment had marred their features.

 

“Don't just stand there! Open the gates and get Lord InuTaisho! NOW!!” Kira screamed in their minds, knowing everything within a mile heard her.

 

The guards scrambled to do her bidding, for she looked absolutely pissed, and no one dared her wrath. Slowly the giant gates opened and Kira ran into the courtyard. Some stupid demon guards, who didn't know who she was, perceived her as a threat since she had no rider, and circled her. Kira was at her breaking point. She raised her head and neighed a great challenge for anyone dumb enough to take her on.

 

“I do not have time for this! Go get your Lord and fast, the princess needs help!!”

 

Lord InuTaisho heard the commoition and came to see what was going on. As he stepped out to the courtyard, he was surprised to see a maginifecent mare, black as midnight, head held high, surrounded by demon soliders. `The fools. Did they not know who she was?' He thought to himself. His golden eyes locked with her green ones, and he nodded in understanding. He understood that something was be seriously wrong. A horse of her breed would never be without her rider, unless something was wrong. And he planned to find out exactly what that was.

 

As he approached the mare, eyes still locked with hers he commanded “Stand down you fools. She means us no harm. And her presence here is valued.”

 

Once the guards stepped away, sheathed their weapons, and hung their heads in shame, InuTaisho reguarded the mare before him, “Please forgive them. Sometimes I believe their brains are not as good as their strength.”

 

Kira snorted in agreement, then looked past the demon lord as two figures that she knew stumbled into the courtyard. Inu Taisho felt his sons presence and turned to acknowledge them. “Inuyasha, Sesshomaru Come here, I fear that this news affects us all. Am I correct Kira?”

 

“Forgive me and my lack of pleasantries, but that is something we don't have time for. Our lands were attacked today and Kagome went to face the evil in the castle by herself..”

 

“Kagome!! What about Kagome? Where is she? Is she okay? And just what the hell do you mean she went alone?” Inuyasha shouted.

 

Kira shook her massive head at the interruption. “Shut it half-breed” Sesshomaru stated coolly. “Allow her to finish.”

 

“Thank You” Kira said. “now as I was saying. A great evil attacked, and from what I could tell the royal family was still alive inside the castle. Kagome went to confront the evil that threaten her people and her family. It appears that it was waiting for her. She sent me to find you in hopes of help.”

 

Inuyasha was stunned. Who would want to hurt the royal family of the north? They were all nice, kind and gentle people. Even the villiagers of the land welcomed everyone who came to them for needs. Then his thoughts turned to Kagome. He remembered the small girl who use to run and play with him as a child. Her warm smile, the mischevious look in her eyes when he crossed the line. The gloweringness when she promised to love him and be his best friend forever. Then his thoughts shot forward to the last time he saw her. She was 14 years old, and beautiful as ever. Her long black hair whipping in her face, a warm loving smile on her face, as she reached out her hand to him to pull him up from their picinic spot. The way her tanned skin sparkled with sweat as she ran from him to the trees, promising to always have fun in her heart. He had promised himself he would find a way to be completely worthy of her love, and to protect her always. And now the stupid girl was confronting evil on her own.

 

InuTaisho frowned upon the news Kira just laid at their feet. Yes he was friends with the royal family of the north. He had fought beside them many years ago. Now they were endanger after many years of peace. He feared this was because of their daughter. She was a priestess, and also a powerful sorceress. Very powerful and very deadly. She was also an amazing fighter, singer (with a voice to kill for), and dancer. What worried him the most was her powers - such a combination had never before happened. You were either a prietess or a sorceress, not both. He was scared for the young princess, evil would want her for themselves, to became more powerful for their own gain and glory. Not to mention he was aware that his youngest son, Inuyasha was in love with the young princess. They were close friends as children, and got closer the older they got. Their friendship had turned to love, but neither had said anything about it to their parents about it.

 

“Sesshomaru go prepare the troops who are willing to help. We leave in half an hour. Inuyasha, go tell your mother what has happened and increase security around the castle. If the evil succeeded in taking down the north, they might come here while we are away.”

 

Sesshomaru slightly nodded to his father and turned to leave. No doubt in his mind he would have a large army return with him. He had his ways of getting people to do things he wanted. He himself, had no care for humans - but some (though he would never admit it). And the royal family of the north were included in that small group he cared for. Yes even that bratty princess. Bratty you say - yes to him she was bratty, because the last time he allowed himself to relax around her, she had colored his hair pink. Pink for crying out loud. Given she was only a child at the age of 12 at the time, but he never forgave her either. He shuddered at the thought.

 

 

Inuyasha stood there perfectly still for a moment. “She went by herself? Stupid bitch” he said aloud. InuTasiho and Kira snapped theirs heads to stare at the young dogdemon.

 

 

“What?” InuTasiho questioned.

 

 

Only then did Inuyasha realize he had spoken out loud. So as usual, he did what he always does and spoke yet again without thinking. “Keh! She went into the castle to face only God knows what, by herself. Stupid Bitch!”

 

 

InuTasiho dropped his head at his son's behavior, while Kira took things differently. Yes, she liked Inuyasha, and was happy that he and her rider had the relationship they had, and truthfully wished them together, but damnit enough is enough.

 

 

“If you truly feel that way, then you do not deserve her love.” Kira simply stated,

 

“What the hell do you mean by that?” asked Inuyasha slightly pissed.

 

“Just what I said young one. I did not stutter.”

 

“Enough. Inuyasha do as I asked, time is wasting. Kira come with me for a moment please.”

 

Inuyasha glared at Kira as she left with his father. `I don't deserve her love? What does that mean? Does she really love me? I know she said she did, but…is it something more than just love? I know she does as friends and all. Hell some of the things we've done together, she said she did. I know that I have never felt about another the way I feel about Kagome!' He thought before turning around to do his father's bidding.

 

 

Half as hour later, Sesshomaru approached the gates with well over 200 soliders (all demons), all looking ready to kill. They had been informed of the matter at hand, and were not pleased that someone had attacked the very ones who had helped ensure peace between the lands. Inuyasha and his mother appeared next. Inuyasha looking fit to be tied, and Izayoi looking worried. This was the scene before them as InuTasiho and Kira returned to the gates. InuTasiho let his eyes wonder over the army before him and was pleased. He nodded his approval to his eldest son. Then his eyes landed on his mate, Izayoi. His gaze softened at her worried expression. Gracefully the demon lord walked to her and received her in his embrace. She clung to him like he was her lifeline.

 

“Be careful my love, return safely and help bring justice. I love you.” She said sweetly.

 

He collected her small hands in his and smiled. “Don't worry love. All will be fine.” He told her as he brought her hands to his mouth and placed gentle kisses over the tops. “I will return soon and remember I love you as well.” He replied as he kissed her lips. His gaze lingered a bit longer as he turned to leave.

 

Inuyasha who had stepped back to allow his parents some time to themselves, walked up to his mother and hugged her fiercely. “Love you momma. Be safe.” She smiled and kissed his cheek. “Be careful my son. Watch that mouth of yours. I love you as well baby.” Izayoi said while releasing him. Inuyasha smirked at her, kissed her cheek and left.

 

Sesshomaru with a calm, cold expression that almost never left his face, approached her as well. “My boy. Iknow you don't care for humans, but just the same, what you are doing is right. Right to go with them, and I am proud of you. And you had better know in your heart that I love you as much as my own son. You are my son.” With that, she hugged him and kissed his cheek. Sesshomaru said nothing but softly kissed the opposite cheek Inuyasha had kissed and stated “I know” and turned to leave. `Amazing woman for a human', he thought to himself as he walked away.

 

InuTasiho, Sesshomaru, and Inuyasha mounted their stallions and lead the party towards the north. Kira right there beside them as they took off at a full run, hoping not to get there to late.
