Misfortune
eeeeeMy name is Akane Haru. I'm twenty-four years old. I don't have a family. I didn't have a home. I had very few friends. I'm introverted, irritable and too smart for my own good. People say I have an anger problem. They're probably right. Sometimes I thought my life might be more than just a little dreary. But somehow, I got through each boring day. This is the story of my days when I was seventeen and in school, until now.
eeeeeAs I put on my school uniform, one of the six sets of clothes I owned, I wondered what was in store for me at school today. Sighing, I picked up my huge backpack, my only possession, and hauled it from my latest `camp' to the bus stop nearby. I must have forgotten to mention that I live in Tokyo. It's a very busy place there. However, I seemed to be able to find my way around. There's plenty of little secluded places where I could make a temporary house using sticks and such. Eventually I got caught and end up running off hastily away from my homes when the owner of the land realized he had an unwanted resident on his property. * sigh * It was hard, living like that, but what choice did I have, really? It's not like I had any family to care about me.
EeeeeThe bus arrived. I hefted my backpack off of the ground and walk up the steps into the school bus. Not many high schoolers rode that bus. Most of them drove themselves to school. Naturally, being pretty much homeless, I didn't have a car. Thank Kami for public transportation.
eeeee“Dammit!” I growled as a sharp elbow jabbed into my rib cage. “Watch it, kid!” I hissed at the ninth grader sitting next to me. She cowered, looking very intimidated. As I rubbed my side, I wondered how it would be to have a family, a home, and delicious food. I would killfor a box of pocky right now… I thought with a sigh.
eeeeeI scratched my head with one long nail. I had very long nails then. They were sharp and thick, and every time I cut them they grew back overnight. I didn't understand it. But I accepted it as part of my special oddness.
