Some Things Are Better Forgotten
Chapter 4
Last Time On Some Things Are Better Forgotten
“How long had it been since you've seen him?” Inuyasha asked.
“A little over two hundred years.”
“What's his name?” Kagome asked her, she wasn't sure if she should have asked that question.
“Ah, it's Sesshomaru.”
Everyone's eye's widened.
Tazuni watched at everyone's eyes widened. “Do you know him?”
“He's Inuyasha's brother.” Kagome told her.
This time it was Tazuni's turn for her eyes to widen. No wonder Inuyasha reminded her of him, plus he had InuTaisho's sword at his hip. “Why do you have that sword at your hip? It's supposed to be Sesshomaru's.”
“My Father gave it to me.” Inuyasha answered.
“But, why?” she was now confused.
“We fought over it in are Father's grave. I ended up winning, and taking the sword with me, I cut off Sesshomaru's left arm with this sword.” Inuyasha hand went to Tessaiga.
Tazuni's eyes widened even more.
Inuyasha wanted to get some answers from her, why'll she was still in a state of shock. “You know everything about Sesshomaru right?”
Tazuni blinked. “I think so, I haven't seen him in centuries. Are fathers where like best friends so after my Mother died, Father, my sister and I moved in the castle with Lord InuTaisho and Lady Mizuki and their son, Sesshomaru. But I already knew Sesshomaru since I was born, he's about two years older them me, in human standards.
“I remember playing pranks on are fathers, once we got them to walk into the women's bath house, and we ended up getting a good laugh out of that, plus a lecture to never do something like that again. Sesshomaru's mother wasn't that happy with us for the next couple of days or so.” She chuckled.
“What's Sesshomaru like now?” She looked to Inuyasha.
Inuyasha crossed his arms. “He's a bastured, that's what. He only cares about himself, he's tried to kill me a thousand times for my Tessaiga, he's even tried to kill everyone else here. He's better off dead!” Inuyasha looked to the left.
Tazuni stood up and walked to Inuyasha. “You have no right to talk about him like that, you don't even know him.” She was kneeling in front of him.
“How can you defend him? He ruined your life. And about everyone's else's.” Inuyasha put his face closer to hers.
Tazuni looked straight into his amber eyes. “You don't know him like I do, Inuyasha.”
“You haven't seen or talked to him in years. I just saw him not even a mouth ago. And he's heartless, he cares for nothing, not even his own family.” Inuyasha looked her in the eyes too, and challenged her.
Tazuni eyes narrowed. “What gives you that impression?”
“Didn't you hear me?! He's a cold-hearted BASTARD!” he was now yelling in her face.
“YOU KNOW NOTHING!” Tazuni pushed Inuyasha's shoulders with the palm of her hand, so he fell right onto his back; she stood back on her feet, looking over him. “I don't care if he tried to kill you! He did the same to me, but do you see me trying to kill him, NO! I love him and I can't do anything about it! If you had the chance would you actually kill your own brother?!”
Inuyasha was shocked. He didn't expect this kind of reaction from her. “Hum…I-I…Hum.”
Tazuni turned her back on him and walked away. “I'm going for a walk.” She told the others.
Kagome looked over to Inuyasha. “Inuyasha, sit!”
He went crashing into the ground.
How can he say that about him? …Well screw him! Tazuni thought as she walked throw the forest, she was walking at a fast pace. She stopped. Maybe I over reacted. I didn't have to defend Sesshomaru, he tried to kill me, and he almost conceited. Damn you, Sesshomaru, I shouldn't feel this way, it's been more then 200 years. You're not even thinking about me anymore, you probably forgot all me.
She started walking again. Trying to convince her self that she had gotten over the fact that Sesshomaru had tried to kill her. But she couldn't, she kept thinking that Sesshomaru never really cared about her and that he was a `cold-hearted Bastured' as Inuyasha had put him.
But could he be like the way Inuyasha had described him…NO he was never like the way Inuyasha described, could he actually be that heartless to kill his own family, yeah he had tried to kill her but he didn't even love her, she was just a childhood friend, that's all. Not even close to being like family.
There was a rustling in the trees. She looked up. The trees where covering the night sky, but the moon shown though.
She could smell a fowl scent in the tall trees over her, and it was coming towards her, and it was taking it's time as if it knew she wasn't going to move from her spot until she found out what the smell was.
“Look what I found here, you must be Tazuni, I presume?” The voice was deep, and coming from a male. Now she could tell why she didn't like the smell, he was a half demon, he had an evil aura around him, and she could smell the jewel shards also.
“What do you what? I don't think you're going to find anything interesting from me.” She glared at him. He had landed in front of her, a mere centimetres away from her face. He was a couple of inches taller then her, and he had wavy black hair that went down to his waist, and it was tied up in a half ponytail, and blood red eyes. He had on a man's kimono, brown bottoms and dark-blue top.
“I want to help you get revenge.” He smiled and looked her straight in the eye.
“Revenge on what?” What's this guy talking about?
“You know what I'm talking about. What do you say?”
`Oh that!' “And what's in it for you?” She narrowed her eyes at him.
“I want you to steal the Jewel Shards from Inuyasha, but not yet, I want them to gather most of the shards, then you can steal the jewels from them and give them to me. And after we can get your revenge or if you want sooner. What do you say?”
“I don't even know you're name. What if you're lying to me?”
“You've heard of me, I'm Naraku.”
“I will not do what you want me to, you're wasting your time.” She was about to turn her back on him.
“Oh, I don't think so.” Naraku's smile grow bigger.
“I will not betray my friends.”
“You've only known them for two days.”
Tazuni's eyes widened. “How do you know that?”
He started to move closer to her. “I know a lot of things about you.”
She stepped back. “Leave me alone, I don't want to be apart of your plans.”
“I'll give you a couple of days and you can make up your mind.” He stopped walking. “Well I have to leave, Inuyasha should be here any second.” He jumped back into the trees.
As Naraku had said Inuyasha had come. “I smell him, were is he?” he looked to Tazuni.
“He left.” She started to walk but Inuyasha grapped her arm.
“Your not working for him, are you?” Inuyasha narrowed his eyes at her.
“Hell no, I'd never team up with a bastard like him!” She glared at him.
He tightened his grip on her arm, and then let go.
“Let's go back to camp.” Tazuni told Inuyasha.
Inuyasha nodded.
When they got back to camp, everyone was asleep except Miroku.
“Have a nice walk?” Miroku asked Tazuni.
She ignored him, and walked towards a tree, a few meters away from the fire, and sat down.
“Okay.” Miroku looked over to Inuyasha, but he had jumped into the tree that was over Kagome's head.
“Go to sleep, Miroku.” Tazuni said, she had her eyes closed, but he could tell she was fully alert. “I'll take the first watch.”
He nodded. “Goodnight.”
“Night.”
Everyone was still sleeping when Tazuni woke up, the sun had risen and from the position of the sun it was a little past sunrise.
She still hadn't forgotten about Naraku and of what he had said to her. Did she actually want revenge? And if so, could she turn her back on Inuyasha and his followers? She didn't think so, but the more she thought about it, the more she wanted it. She had thought about it most of the night and she still hadn't made a decision on what to do.
Good she had a couple of days before Naraku came back. But she couldn't believe she was actually thinking she could do this. It was going to be hard. Maybe if she stayed with them, she would change her mind about teaming up with Naraku.
The human women where starting to stir and the monk was almost fully awake. Inuyasha was still in the tree and looked like he was still sleeping, so she couldn't tell if he was awake or not.
“Morning everyone!” Miroku was now fully awake. He turned his head in Tazuni's direction. “I see we're the only ones up so far.”
She nodded. She looked around again. “Yes, I guess so.”
They sat there in silence, waiting for everyone to get up. The silence didn't last long, Kagome was the next to wake up, and then Inuyasha, Sango, and Shippo last.
As soon as Kagome woke up, she started to make one of her strange foods, Kagome called it oatmeal.
When everyone was done eating and ready to go, they headed north.
They had walked for most of the morning, until Kagome had sensed a Jewel shard close by, moving away from them, at a fast speed.
Inuyasha had told Kagome to climb onto his back, she did, and they went off towards the jewel shard.
“Let's go after them.”
Kilala turned into a ball of flame and transformed into her larger self. Miroku and Sango got onto her back, along with Shippo.
Sango gestured for her to get on but she shock her head, and started to run, leaving them behind.
When she got to a fast pace, she started jumping from tree to tree. Soon she was right behind Inuyasha and Kagome. She jumped to the right for her to pass them, “I'll take care of it.” She told them. She moved her legs faster. In a matter of minutes she was a blur to Inuyasha and Kagome.
“Hey, wait up!” Inuyasha yelled at her. But it was no use; she was already out of their sight.
“Wow, she's fast!” Kagome told Inuyasha, amazed.
“How close is the shard?” He asked her.
“We're almost there.”
Tazuni stopped right at the end of the forest, where a small village had stood, but now was ripped to shreds.
There stood some kind of demon she couldn't tell, there was too much blood, she couldn't tell if it was the demon's blood or the villagers, but she had a feeling it was the humans who lived here, there was just too much!
“Bastard!” She ran for the demon, her right hand going for the sword on her left hip, and her left hand going for the sword on her right hip, pulling her swords out. She made a cross with the swords in fort of her. She jumped into the air, aiming her swords towards the head.
Just in time the demon turned to block the blow. Her swords had taken a good chunk of flesh out of his arm, and he hissed shoving her backwards, making her feet connect with the ground, sliding to a stop.
“This is none of your business, Dog!” His voice was higher then she would have thought.
He slashed at her with his claws; it was now her time to block, “You killed innocent humans!”
Again she jumped into the air, going right over his head, she threw her swords over her head and swinging them down towards the demon, all at a fast speed, faster then the eye could see.
He didn't have enough time to put his arms over his head, or at least try to defend himself at all.
Just in time Inuyasha and Kagome came out of the forest, surprised Kagome gave a little squeak.
Tazuni, hearing Kagome, turned her head towards her, wondering why she squeaked.
That's all it took for an opening, and the demon took it and slashed her in the stomach with his claws, the impact threw her back, making her collide with a hut that was still standing. The roof of the hut fell on her.
“Oh my, God!” Kagome made a move to go towards her but Inuyasha took a hold of her arm.
Tazuni pulled herself onto her knees; her head was lowered, her bangs covering her eyes. The gash from her stomach overflowed with blood; it was everywhere, the metallic sent filled the air.
She picked up her swords that where now covered with her blood and stuck the tip of the blade into the earth, and pulled herself up.
She lifted her head up and smiled.
In a flash she was right above him, and she slashed down, cutting right down in the middle, and he split in half.
Tazuni landed right next to the demon's carcass, sheathed her swords, and started to walk over to Inuyasha and Kagome. Sometime after Inuyasha and Kagome arrived Sango, Miroku, Kilala and Shippo had come.
Kagome ran to Tazuni made her sit down by on of the huts, and looked at her wounds. Inuyasha had taken the shards away from the demon and had handed it to Kagome. Kagome put it into her tiny jar with the other jewel shards, and then continued to look at Tazuni's wounds.
“You should have waited for us to come, and then you wouldn't have gotten hurt!” Inuyasha told Tazuni, glaring at her.
Tazuni stood up in front of Inuyasha, “Well, I was fine when you weren't there and if someone didn't distracted me, I wouldn't have gotten wounded, now would I?” She stared him in the eye. “And why do you care? Are you worried about me?”
“No, I don't care and I wasn't the one that did the distracting.”
“I'm sorry!” Kagome looked down toward her feet.
Tazuni looked over at Kagome, “Oh, no that's okay. It wasn't your fault.” She looked back toward Inuyasha and glared at him. “And don't worry about my stomach, it'll health by itself in less then an hour.”
“You sure?” Kagome was worried that it would get infected, if she didn't at least clean it.
“It's almost healed.” She went into her back that she had been carrying, and found an extra pair of cloths. She went behind the one wall that was still standing and changed behind that.
After she was done, she came out from behind the wall and found that everyone was starting to dig graves for the dead villager's. Even little Shippo who was trying to dig with his hands because he wasn't strong enough to hold a shovel.
Tazuni grabbed a shovel and joined with them.
After they where done, they started north again and didn't stop tell the sun was starting to set, ate supper, another one of Kagome's weird foods, and then talk about nonsense.
“So…?” Kagome asked. Again there was a moment of silence; they had been having moment of silence's all evening, and it was starting to get annoying.
“Tell me more about my brother.” Inuyasha commanded Tazuni.
“What?” She was shaken; she didn't expected Inuyasha to ask about his brother again.
“You heard me! Tell me what my brother was like back then, and what you guys did. What was my father like?”
“Umm…okay. Your Father always took good care of me, especially after me father died. He was a good man.
“While you brother wasn't always that good!” she laughed. “He would always tease me and bully me, but what do you expected from a growing boy? Even when he was older he would still tease me.
“Other then that, your brother always treated me differently then everyone else, mostly when we where alone. You now, guys always have to have the perfect image.
“He was always happy, and outgoing, almost every afternoon we would wooden sword fight and I would win every time, until we got a little older, then he would always have the sword at my throat. I remember one time, when I had won, I accidentally hit him in the neck with the sword, and he actually cried but I did hit him hard, and he wouldn't let me near him with one for almost two months.” Again she laughed.
“But when I started my healing training I didn't see him that often, only at meals, and sometimes when I watched him train with your father.”
She looked into her lap, and she got lost in memories. No one said a word.
She looked up and smiled at Inuyasha. “Did I answer your questions?”
He nodded. Inuyasha stood up all of a sudden, and looked over into the trees.
There walking out of the forest was non other then…
Tazuni quickly stood on her feet. “Sesshomaru?!”
