Something had to be Done

Chapter 1

The Girl Who Re-overcame Time and the Boy Who Was 'Sat'.

"{sigh} I can't believe I'm doing this! I promised myself I wouldn't go back and here I am at the well!" said Kagome Higurashi. The Kagome that most of you know had had a few changes made over the year since she had left the feudal era. Now instead of the school uniform she usually adorned, she now wore a pair of tight fit jeans with holes in the knees and a red halter top. A black bag on her back along with a quiver of arrows. Not ordinary arrows mind you, oh no. These arrows had black painted shafts and were fletched with feathers of a blood red. Another new accessory was a blood red crystal on a gold chain that hung from her neck. Her once fully black hair now had silver streaks, and her chocolate brown eyes had a distinct trace of gold here and there.

She held a black bow in her hand and had a katana in a red sheath at her right hip, and another in a blue sheath on her left. All in all it was safe to say that she had changed quite a bit.

A year ago she had left the feudal era. Why, you may ask? Simple. Inuyasha had brought Kikyo into the little shard hunting groupe so Naraku couldn't attack her without him knowing. As soon as Kikyo got there, Kagome had known her life was in danger. From then on she had kept her bow and arrows with her at all times... but it had not been enough. One day when no one had been around Kikyo had attacked her. Kagome had barely made it out alive. Then later on even when Inuyasha had smelt Kagome's blood on Kikyo he had done nothing. He didn't believe her.

That had been the last straw. That very night she had written a note to her friends saying goodbye and had fled. Deciding to simply return to the life she had had before any of it had happened, to be an ordinary girl once again.

But it was not to be.

[FLASHBACK]

As she got to the future the first thing she smelt was smoke. The shrine and well house were on fire. She managed to get out of the well house somehow but when she did she wished she had stayed inside and had died not knowing the sight she then saw had ever happened. Even her own home was burning. Firefighters were everywhere trying to douse the flames, but to no avale.

Suddenly the shrill cry of ambulance sirens came to her ears. She ran to it and watched as they loaded the unconscious body of her mother onto the ambulance. She ran to the firefighters and paramedics surrounding the ambulance. "My name is Kagome Higurashi. That's my mother..... where are my little brother, my grandfather and my cat?" She asked them.

One firefighter shook his head. "We haven't found them yet. More ambulances are on their way but for now we need to get this woman to the hospital." He said as the paramedics loaded the gurney supporting Kagome's mother onto the ambulance.

"I'm going with her!" Kagome said and before anyone could stop her she was in the back of the ambulance being driven to the hospital and holding her mother's hand the whole way there.

[END FLASHBACK]

Sighing, Kagome sat on the ground in front of the well. Somehow the well and the God tree had survived but unfortunately nothing else had. Not even her family. Her grandfather, Souta and Buyo had died in the fire and Mrs. Higurashi had died from smoke inhalation before they could even get her to the hospital room.

But to Kagome's surprise she had met an old enemy at that hospital. Sesshomaru had been there aswell. She learned that after the defeat of Naraku (which she had asked about but had received no answers) he and Kagura had gotten together. Kagura herself had been in labour having their third child. Apparently either Sesshomaru had gotten softer over the 500 years or she, Kagome, had done something that she didn't know about yet to cause him to be grateful for he had taken her in and had gone so far as to have specialists train her in her miko powers aswell.

Within 4 months she had mastered them but soon after that there was a new reason for training.

One day while out with her new friends she had been hit by a car. She would have died of blood loss and other injuries but she had gotten a blood transfusion just in time.

That's where it all went bad.

The doctor had assumed that she was a demon in disguise (doctors knew about demons at this hospital)because Sesshomaru had been the one to bring her in, and had given her demon blood to replace the blood she had lost.

By the next morning demonic features had begun appearing on her body. She was now an Inu-Hanyou.

Sesshomaru had trained her as best as he could but during the 500 years he had become slightly rusty. They had devised a plan that when she was ready, and could mask her scent so well that even he, Sesshomaru, couldn't find her, she would return to the past with one of his prized katanas and a note explaining things and would seek training from his past self who could do it properly.

So here she was about to journey to the past once again. But this time she would not return for a long LONG time.

Standing, she walked to the well and, after masking her scent, jumped in, letting the time stream take her back to the past. The familiar blue light surrounded her and before she knew it, she was on the other side.

Sniffing quietly she checked to see if any of her former companions were nearby.

"Shit!" She cursed softly. Of all people Inuyasha happened to be heading straight towards the well she was now in.

Knowing she didn't have much time she leapt from the well and as soon as her feet touched the ground she ran with all her might in the direction oposite from the one Inuyasha was in. She knew she would be discovered eventually but she wanted it to be when she had completed her training.

Suddenly she heard a distinct rustle in the bushes only about 40 yards behind her. He was following her..... This was definitely not good. Knowing that he couldn't smell her she wondered how he knew she was there.

'Kikyo!' She thought, 'She must have sensed me! But hat means if he loses sight of me he can't find me! Perfect!'

With that she jumped as high as she could and landed noiselessly on a tree branch about 20 yards behind where he now stood sniffing the air.

Taking out an arrow she notched it and fired it far towards the east, praying he would fall for it. When the arrow hit a tree about a quarter of a mile away Inuyasha heard it and thinking it was her, he ran in the direction.

Quickly she left her hiding place and ran hard towards the west to where Sesshomaru currently resided. (Future Sesshomaru had told her where to go)

[THREE HOURS OF RUNNING LATER]

"Finally!" Kagome said to herself as she stopped in front of the gates to a gigantic mansion/castle. It had what appeared to be three floors so it was probably the largest building in feudal Japan. Inside the courtyard, that she could see through the bars of the gate, was a large fountain with a giant stone dog in it's centre, standing proudly and intimidatingly... Though the scary factor was taken down by the water sprouting from it's mouth.

"Sesshomaru-sama!Sesshomaru-sama!" A small girl came into Kagome's line of vision. She was running towards to door to the great mansion, a bouquet of wild flowers clutched tightly in her small hands.

'That must be Rin.' Kagome thought. Future Sesshomaru (let's call him Fluffy... easier to tell the difference) had told all about how he had come across Rin, so seeing the human child wasn't as much of a shock as it might have been otherwise.

"Sesshomaru-sama!" Rin yelled again as the demon in question walked down the steps of the mansion and into the small courtyard. "There's a pretty lady out by the gate! She's wearing strange clothes though... Rin has never seen clothes like those before!"

"Here we go...." Kagome muttered to herself as Sesshomaru looked in her direction.... Or more like glared in her direction.

Before she knew it he was in front of her, claws hovering dangerously close to her face and glowing green. She had no doubt that he would kill her.... Well he would have if not for Rin's cry of "No!" Before she ran through the now opened gate and latched onto Kagome's right leg as if she would blow away with the wind were Rin to let go.

Knowing with Rin on her side she was safe, Kagome patted Rin's head gently and, after Rin had let go, kneeled down so her face was level with the younger girl's. "Hi Rin. Do you remember me? My name's Kagome. We met a long time ago." Kagome had met Rin previously during a battle with Sesshomaru and the two had hit it off well. Rin thought of Kagome as an older sister already.

"Kagome!!!!!!!!" Rin cried out joyously as she practically jumped onto her 'big sister.' "What happened to you?"

With a sigh Kagome gently pried Rin's arms from around her neck and looked her in the eye before saying, " I'll explain everything later on alright? Right now I need to talk with Sesshomaru-sama right now okay?" She added the -sama to make sure not to insult the demon that stood in silent and unapparent shock a little ways behind them.

"Ok! Only if you promise to read Rin a bed-time story tonight okay?" Rin said with a slight pout.

Laughing she ruffled the child's hair mindful of her nails/claws which were dulled at the moment thanks to a spell that she'd learned. "Alright deal!"

Then Rin gave her one last hug and ran back inside to pick more flowers in the garden that was sure to be there somewhere.

With a sigh Kagome stood to her full height and faced the Inu-Youkai in front of her.

"I guess I have some explaining to do right?" Kagome said as Sesshomaru gave her a questioning look.

At his nod she bagan her explanation of her new look and why she was there.

[ A HALF HOUR LATER]

"And you expect me to believe you.... why? After all I do not see any proof of what you claim." Sesshomaru said in his usual calm and emotionless voice.

She had finally finished explaining the entire situation and why she wanted him to train her. Now she just had to prove it.

"You know.... it's a good thing you thought of that!" Kagome said as she withdrew an envelope from her bag. "Here, read the note that's inside."

Taking the note from her outstretched hand he tore the top of the envelope, removed the paper within and began to read. After a few minutes he looked up from the note and said, "It says you have an item to show me?"

With a bit of a grin Kagome took the katana from within the blue sheath and held it out to him. It was a plain katana except it had a blue diamond set into the blade just below the hilt and there was a dragon carved into the blade winding it's way up and the markings glowed a faint blue.

"Fine you have proved your story to be true. Come in and the servants will prepare you a room. How long will you be staying here?" He said as he turned and began walking back inside the courtyard, Kagome in toe.

"30 days. That should be all I'll need. I've covered the basics and have mastered my Miko powers so I just need to learn some demonic attacks and raise my speed a bit... and practice with my senses." She said, listing off the things future Sesshomaru had told her.

"Alright.... considering the fact that you used to be human we'll have to start tomorrow to make sure we finish on time. I doubt we will even if we train constantly." He said a small smirk visible if you looked really REALLY hard.

"Hey! I resent that! I'll have you know that I'm a fast learner! You yourself was amazed at how fast I progressed!" She said huffing indignantly.

The smirk became more visible. "Fine. We begin tomorrow. We will work on attacks, then speed, then sight and sound, then scent and then we will put it all together. Each session will progress over the course of six days. We shall see how much you have learned so far as well. My servants will show you to your room. It is next to Rin's so that you may keep your earlier promise." With that he brusquely walked indoors and left Kagome outside waiting for these 'servants' to come show her to her room.

[THE NEXT DAY]

Kagome awoke to find herself in a room that (probably because of her clothes) was decked out in all her favorite colors. Red and black. She lay in a four-poster bed with red silk blankets. The draperies around the bed were black and appeared to be silk as well.

"Ahhhh.... "Kagome sighed contentedly, sinking back into the black pillows. The floor was covered in a red carpeting and the walls were of the same color with tapestries here and there depicting gory battles. A set of double doors made out of what appeared to be mahogany appeared to lead to the closet since last night as she had left to tell Rin 'Beauty and the Beast' she hadn't used those doors. A dresser or two was here and there throughout the room and facing the west was a large patio which would be perfect for watching the sunset. Climbing out of the extremely comfortable bed she made her way to the closet to find her clothes already hung up as well as a few other outfits for training. She had the option between:black fire rat robes, black and red miko robes or a body suit like Sango's complete with armour.

Deciding that she preferred Sango's demon slayer uniform she pulled it from the rack then proceeded to put it on.

[10 MINUTES LATER]

"Finally!"Kagome exclaimed as she finally managed to get the suit on. She then walked over to the corner of the closet where her weapons were. She quickly strapped on her sword and set the quiver of arrow on her shoulder. The sword she had shown Sesshomaru the day before was not there and was most likely determining whether or not it was fake. She picked up her bow and walked to the patio. Catching Sesshomaru's scent she leapt off the banister surrounding the patio and upon landing ran in the direction of his scent.

After a minute he came into her line of vision. He was simply standing on the top of a hill looking out towards the sunrise in the east.

With a leap she landed next to him facing the east as well. "So..... When are we gonna start training?"

"We will begin shortly... Now what did you think of your room? The note I received specifically mentioned red and black."He said, still not looking at her.

This shocked Kagome quite a bit. He was actually asking her opinion on something? That had certainly been fast. "Umm... It was great! Really great! Better then my old room actually... Oh! Before I forget I just thought I should mention one part of my room back in the future that you told me to mention.... You'll understand what it means in a few centuries but anyway don't forget to put in a mini-bar!!!"

"It was a good effort but in the note it also mentioned how you might try that and that should you mention any additions I should know about to ignore them." This time he looked at her and Kagome thought for a fleeting moment that she saw amusement in his eyes.

Grumbling, she replied with a sigh, "Just like you to do something like that.... Oh well... You can't blame me for trying!"

"Indeed. Now... I don't suppose you would happen to know Naraku's weak point?"

"Sorry bud... You yourself told me not to tell anyone until the final battle! " She said with a small smirk.

"I didn't think it was possible... but I just annoyed myself...." He said a small sigh that were Kagome human she would not have heard.

"Anyway we had better start my training!" Kagome said suddenly. "So come on! Teach me!"

[ THAT NIGHT ] ((I'm not telling you about the training because what she learns and how good she is is gonna be a surprise later.))

With a flop, Kagome collapsed on her bed in her room that night. Training had been harder then she'd thought it would be..... But Sesshomaru had still be surprised by her progress. She had had a good laugh at his expression when she managed to actually do a demonic attack when he said it would take a long time to learn. It had been priceless..... But he had come down harder for that... Her muscles were still sore and she couldn't feel her arms anymore.

But all in all it had been a good day. She had gained his respect that was for sure. He now acted toward her like he did in the future. They had an older brother/younger sister relationship once again.

With a sigh Kagome mulled over those thoughts and a few more before exhaustion took over and she fell into a deep sleep that should anyone disturb... they'd be in a world of pain.

AN: Wow... that was longer then I expected it to be.... Oh well! Anyway, next chappie will probably be the end of her training and her journey back to the gang and stuff.... OH! And before I forget I had better tell you guys right now that I absolutely HATE, DESPISE and LOATH kikyo (she doesn't deserve a capital letter at the beginning of her name) so most likely kikyo fans should leave within the next few chapters.... Oh yeah! Anyone who has a creative name for the old clay pot should send it in! I'll be using all the ones I think fit her and will be putting the names of the name donator next to it so everybody knows who came up with it! It has to be a really creative name to and something I haven't heard of thought of before so if yours doesn't come up it will probably be because I have already heard and used it before in describing the stupid clay pot bitch. Anyway..... R&R!!!!

Inu: Feh, who'd want to read this crap?

Me: Besides your just mad because of what I just said about clay pot!

Me: that's authoress!!! and I put that as your name because it's what you are!!! see I have names for everyone by what they are!

Me: that's probably cause I hate you.... it sometime has an effect..... like right.... NOW!!!! {takes out a giant bucket of water and dumps it over clay pot's head}

clay pot + water = mud puddle

clay pot: NOOO! I'M MELTING!!!!! I'M MELTING!!! OH WHAT A WORLD WHAT A WORLD!!!!

Me: you know... that just proved her likeness to the wicked witch of the west....

Inu: YOU KILLED HER!!!! DIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

Kag: SIT!!!!!
