Somewhere Out There
Chapter 12: Day two (and counting)
Anubis_himura

~*Free from the torment of sin
all this I'm giving up
much as the sun would decide to give in
explode into orange and hear all the voices
sing praises with hymns
mark the birth of a change
free from the torment of sin
all this I'm giving up

Over and over again,
a light with a sharpened edge
cuts through the black empty space we call sky,
beginning the cycle that stays
and I know in my heart we all die,
like the day and the night,
like the sun in the sky,
all this I'm giving up.

Is there another side?
Beyond the black and white?
Place I could meet you by
a place on the other side.
I'll let you know when I go.
I'll let you know when I go.
I'm gone. It's not me
buried wreckage my soul
It's not me
So who am I now? *~

Day Two -

" . . . We were close to the end when suddenly, out of no where, a mystical light shone down from above and killed us all. So how am I telling you this story? I am from . . . THE BEYOND!"

" . . . My uncle said that . . . that . . . I was fat!"

" . . . It's okay to feel sad sometimes -"

" . . . If you don't think we can sing it faster than you're wrong, but it'll help if you just sing along! The C-A-M-P-F-I-R-E S-O-N-G SONG!"

". . . What's the sitch?"

" . . . It is here that the baby panda's -"

" . . . The first law of Alchemy -"

"It's official Yash. There's nothing on." Kagome threw the remote down on to the couch and looked at Yash. They had been up, trying to find something to watch, for a good hour.

"I don't know, that 'beyond' guy looked like a real winner." Inuyasha smirked.

"Or, how about, the Mr. Rogers wannabe." Kagome did her best to imitate the accent of the man on TV "It's okay to feel sad sometimes." the pair laughed slightly.

"I bet I can cheer up Mr. Rogers. The C-A-M-P-F-I-R-E S-O-N-G SONG!" Kagome leaned over closer to Inuyasha. "C-A-M-P-F-I-R-E S-O-N-G SONG! If you don't think I can sing it faster than your wrong, but it'll help if you just sing along! C-A-M-P-F-I-R-E S-O-N-G SONG! C-A-M-P-F-I-R-E S-O-N-G SONG! -"

"Okay, stop." Inuyasha pushed Kagome playfully. “I don’t know what’s sadder, the fact that you know that song, or the fact that I almost wanna sing along.”

They laughed for a while and after the laughter died down Inuyasha spoke up. "Actually, I wouldn't mind watching Full Metal Alchemist."

"I haven't seen the beginning and I don't want to jump into it." Kagome explained.

"Okay. But I have the first disk on DVD."

"You suck. Go get it." Kagome laughed. Inuyasha got up and ran to his room.

She shook her head as she watched him run upstairs. She was getting to see a gentler side of him than she had seen before. She couldn't help but feel guilty. Everyone was treating her so sweetly, and waiting on her hand and foot. She felt a little useless. If only I knew why he was being so nice. She thought. She knew he had to have an ulterior motive. After all, why would Inuyasha possibly be nice to her after all that had happened between them.

Kagome let out a scoff as she thought this. "Maybe I should just trust him." she said out loud.

"Oh good morning Kagome. Lovely to see you awake." Nahori walked into the livingroom. "May I make you spot of breakfast?"

"Um . . . " Inuyasha walked downstairs at that point, nodding vigorously behind his mothers back. "Of course." Kagome smiled, "Thank you."

"Would you care for some Inuyasha?" Nahori turned to her son.

"Actually I'm not -"

"Of course you would!" she cut him off and began walking to the kitchen.

Inuyasha sighed as he threw the DVD into the DVD player. "My mother's nuts." he concluded as he sat next to Kagome on the couch. Kagome simply giggled at his comment.

The FunImation (a/n: not mine!) music started up and Inuyasha snuggled up next to Kagome. She gave him a 'what do you think you're doing' side glance but didn't say anything.

For five episodes neither of them moved, except to pick at their breakfasts. Inuyasha, who had seen the introduction DVD many times, sat watching the expressions on Kagome's face. While Kagome sat wrapped up in the intriguing anime. When the last episode on the DVD ended Inuyasha jumped up and turned off the TV; trying to hide the fact that he had been watching Kagome and not the show.

"Well, I'll have to watch that show more often." Kagome smiled.

"Yeah, it's beautiful." Inuyasha was, of course, speaking of Kagome. When he realized his mistake he quickly compensated, "Day outside."

"Yeah it is. I love thunderstorms." Inuyasha realized just then that it was definitely overcast and stormy and not sunny like he had hoped.

"Aren't they great?" It was rhetorical, but what do you say when conversation gets stretched to weather?

There was an elapsed silence, in which Inuyasha had sat back on the couch. Kagome stood up in search of a bathroom; this caused Inuyasha to go on full alert.

"Where are you going? What's wrong? Do you need ice? Can I get you some soup?" he reached out for her, as though she were going to fall and he would be her only support beam.

"Um, no. I'm fine. I just need to find the little girls room." Kagome smiled sheepishly and inwardly giggled at how cute this boy was.

"Oh." he seemed somewhat disappointed. Or felt very foolish. "Down the hall, passed my Dad's office, to the left. Can't miss it." he sat down again and Kagome nodded.

A few minutes passed, and Inuyasha became antsy. He stood up and passed, another few minutes elapsed. He then began to get down right frightened. He sprinted down the hallway, passed his Father's office and to the bathroom. The door was open and no sign of Kagome. His eyes widened in horror and he turned around frantically.

"Where did she go?" he asked himself out loud. "I lost her!" he ran around panicked. He checked every room on the downstairs floor before running upstairs. He ran to through the upstairs, calling out her name, shoving doors open and checking inside them.

He ran toward the end of the hall where he heard strange noises. Almost like someone being hurt, falling and gasping in pain. His heart began to race, and his adrenalin kicked in full speed as he shoved open the door (which was locked).

Inuyasha's eyes widened and he stood in wide eyed panic. "INUYASHA!"

He tried to look away, or close his eyes, or run out of the room screaming; but, his muscles refused to function and he stood, mouth agape and extremely embarrassed. The image before him forever burned into his cornea.

Sesshomaru, his older brother, naked, in bed, with Rin. Apparently the noises had not been of pain, but of a similar emotion. Rin was giggling, finding the whole situation incredibly amusing apparently. Sesshomaru looked as though he were going to kill Inuyasha, purely with his death glare. If he hadn't been making love to Rin, he probably would have killed Inuyasha by then.

"I am so sorry" Inuyasha finally stuttered out. "I lost Kagome, and I thought she was in here. I heard noises." he tried to explain his actions, but he knew it was a lost cause.

"It's my room! The door was locked! There's noises! What else would be going on?!" Sesshomaru was getting angrier and angrier by the second.

"Well! I don't usually think of you with . . . anybody. Let alone a girl." Inuyasha's face dropped as Sesshomaru stood up. "Not the right choice of words?" Inuyasha asked, more to himself than his pissed off brother. Sesshomaru calmly covered Rin with the blanket, and tied a robe around himself and turned back to Rin.

"If you'll excuse me?" she nodded and Sesshomaru ran after Inuyasha. "I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!" he growled out, but Inuyasha was already half way up to the attic. The attic was the one place Sesshomaru would not look for him, Sesshomaru hated dust. Dust, irritated his sensitive nose.

Inuyasha closed the attic trap and sat down on one of the old dinning room chairs that were stored up there. He closed his eyes and when he opened them he nearly jumped out of his skin.

"Kagome!"

"Hey. Sorry to frighten you. I just needed to move. I felt lazy." she offered an apologetic smile, knowing she must have worried him.

"I was so worried. I thought you had die- It's not important. I am just glad you're okay." he hugged Kagome, exceptionally tight and close.

"Thanks for your concern Inuyasha." Kagome replied awkwardly.

"I mean it Kagome. I don't know what I would have done if you weren't okay." Now Kagome was getting worried.

"Don't worry Yash. I'm fine. You got your verbal punching bag, she's not going anywhere." Kagome laughed slightly as Inuyasha abruptly pulled away.

"That's not - You're more - It -"

"It's okay Yash." Kagome cut him off, "What's Sess so angry about? I could hear him screaming all the way up here."

Inuyasha's eyes widened slightly, "It's not important." he muttered.

"Okay. Come on, I'm hungry." Kagome turned to leave.

"I'm going hang out up here for a little bit. I'll be down in a while."

"Whatever."

*~ Do you wander through this life, like a child without a care?
Do you fear the things you love, do you seek the things you fear?
When the world comes crashing down, do you just smile and say, "I am the great pretender, willing to dream forever"

Oh I'll just float away and let the waves keep pulling me in,
I'll just hang out here and watch the world pass over my head,
Because, I'm still believing, all of the things you said.

Are you searching for the truth, but all you come across is lies,
Has someone sabotaged your route, left all the answers in disguise
When the world comes crashing down, do you just smile and say . .
"I am the great pretender, willing to dream forever." *~

Blah, that's how I'm feeling about this whole ending segment. But the last chapter is going to kick ass! So we'll deal with it and we'll all be happy in the end! ^_^ *hugs and kisses* - Anubis Next Chappy: Day Three (The Breaking Point) - see ya soon!

Oh, FYI - I had two songs for this chapter because, I am running out of chapters, and I have too many songs! So, the first song was by "The Used" and it was "Light with a Sharpened Edge". The ending song was from the Yu-Gi-Oh Movie Soundtrack and was "Great Pretender" so thank you guys!
