Kyoko walked into the Higurashi home from a power walk. When she came in, saw Yumi in the living room, reading a book.
She walked into the kitchen and opened a cupboard. What she saw made her grimace. Ramen. `Am I always confronted by your past Kagome?' thought Kyoko.
~You will never be free from my life.~
Kyoko sighed and took a bowl of ramen, put some water in it, and put it in the microwave. When the microwave beeped when it was done, she opened the door and took it out. Then, she walked into the living room to sit with Yumi. Yumi looked at the young reincarnate of her late daughter.
“What's wrong Kyoko?” asked Yumi. Kyoko slurped in a noodle and looked at Yumi. “Oh, nothing,” she said as she waved a hand that nothing was bothering her. But, Yumi could tell that she was lying. She's a mother of course.
“You're lying to me. Tell me what's on your mind,” she said.
Kyoko sighed in defeat. She explained, “Well, it seems that Kagome's life are always confronting me, no matter what. Even at school. I have two friends that remind me of Kagome's old friends and they are pressuring to go out with Haru, who is very much like Hojo. Then, I met you, Souta, Jii-Chan, InuYasha, Sango, Miroku, and Shippo. It just seems that Kagome's life wants to consume me, like it wants to get rid of me.”
Yumi didn't say anything. What's going on to this poor girl's life? It seemed that her life was worse than her daughter's.
She leaned over and hugged Kyoko. “I am so sorry that the Fates put you in such a position,” she apologized.
Kyoko pulled away from the embrace and looked at Yumi straight in the eye, “This is not your fault. Don't apologize over something that is beyond your control. But, thanks!”
Yumi looked at the girl in front of her. She resembles Kagome so much, but so different otherwise.
“Well, I have to pick Souta up from his job since he doesn't have a car. I'll be back in awhile,” said Yumi as she put her book on the coffee table. She grabbed the keys before she exited out the door.
Kyoko was alone in house. Jii-Chan was back at the senior center since Yumi couldn't take care of him anymore since he's so old.
~~Just you and me then, Kagome?~~
~Yes, indeed it is~
All of a sudden, Kagome took over Kyoko's mind. “Now, just me,” laughed Kagome and she walked out the door of the house to look for InuYasha.
