Chapter Four

A Rush and a Push

Warnings: A wee bit citrus-y. Maybe this is teetering on the edge of a “R” rating, but there's nothing terribly explicit…I think we're safe with “PG-13” for now.

It had been a sneaky way of finding out, and he'd probably pay for it later if Kagome's reaction was any indicator. At least he knew the truth now.

He just didn't know how to feel about it.

Well, he had some initial thoughts.

First, he'd just have to kill his brother. Maybe he'd yank that stick out of Sesshomaru's ass and beat him to death with it. Then, he was going to yell at Kagome. A lot. Loudly. With creative expletives.

What in the hell was she thinking? Had Kagome forgotten about all those times the taiyoukai had tried to murder them? How about that time Sesshomaru had put his fist through his stomach!

What in the hell was Sesshomaru thinking? He'd never shown any interest in Kagome…or any woman for that matter. The guy was a bit hung up on being a megalomaniac with a sword fetish.

“That damn sneaky bastard!” InuYasha muttered, giving his knuckles a good crack. He licked his lips and the taste made him gag. Furiously, he scrubbed at his mouth with the sleeve of his haori. They really must've been slobbering all over each other, he thought unable to repress his shudder of revulsion.

His ears twitched in the direction of Kagome's hut. She was crying. Damn it. InuYasha sighed.

He'd promised to always protect her. Yelling at her would only drive her further into the arms…er…arm of Sesshomaru. She was probably just fooling around with the homicidal asshole to make him jealous.

InuYasha grinned. He was just going to have to be extra nice to her.

He wasn't the sharpest tack in the box, but he wasn't a complete idiot. InuYasha knew that if he was going to seduce Kagome, he was going to have to really turn on the charm.

Besides, he could always yell at her after he got her away from his crazy brother.

Kagome realized that she had broken a very important promise to herself twice in one day.

She'd cried over InuYasha.

Swearing a long time ago never to do it again, Kagome was a bit disappointed. She reached into her back pocket and pulled out her hankie to blow her nose.

She frowned at the piece of lacy cloth. She had wiped Sesshomaru's long fingers with it. As ridiculous as it sounded…she didn't want to wipe her snot all over the hankie now.

Instead, she grabbed a tee-shirt out of the pile of dirty laundry in the corner of her hut, looked around, then blew her nose into that.

Angrily, she swiped at the tears gathering in her eyes again. Nope, no more. Not one more single solitary tear. InuYasha had said it himself, he didn't love her that way. He was likely just so jealous at the mere thought of her being with someone else that he'd gone a little crazy. She only wanted him if he wanted her. Not that she was giving up quite yet, but she had other more pressing matters to attend to.

Sesshomaru.

She had to find that witch and get an…an antidote or something. There was no way she could sleep with the taiyoukai.

Not that he wasn't attractive.

Because he was really, really attractive…and he might've smelled very nice. He also might have been a good kisser, well at least from her limited experience. And there was something very thrilling about having that effect on a creature that powerful…even if it was mostly the potion's fault and not her sexiness.

But the witch had said the potion wouldn't work unless there was an original underlying attraction. Kagome grinned. Sesshomaru thought she was hot. Her much abused ego puffed up its little chest and strutted around.

Kagome sat on her hands to keep from slapping herself. This train of thought was definitely idiotic. Sesshomaru might have, in passing, thought she was pretty. He probably liked me in my sailor fuku…I swear men would turn into slobbering morons when I wore that thing, Kagome thought with a sigh.

She would admit that Sesshomaru was attractive, and his amorous attentions had been interesting. But that was all. She wasn't going to think about him that way anymore. Kagome wasn't suicidal.

“Right!” Kagome said to herself. “First thing tomorrow, I'm off to find that witch.”

Plans made her feel better.

Sesshomaru, of course, was ignorant of the effect the potion was having on him.

His denial and will had been strong. But not strong enough.

A few hours after InuYasha had stalked off grumbling to himself, Sesshomaru lost every shred of his dignity and all rational thought.

One moment he was thinking about how much the miko annoyed him and how pathetically mortal she was, the next he was thinking how lovely her eyes were…and how much he'd like to see her run around in that short kimono again.

Of course, she'd only be allowed to wear that kimono when in his company. It would be unseemly for the object of his infatuation to go around flaunting herself in front of other men. No, that wouldn't do at all. She would reserve that right for him.

Maybe it was the thought of her bending over and tempting him with her pert bottom that drove him from the tree to the door of her hut. Sesshomaru really hadn't thought it out.

When he desired something, he was single minded in his pursuits…never mind his poor track record. And he wanted…needed the miko. He would have her whether she liked it or not.

But she would like it.

He'd certainly never had any complaints over his attentions before.

Sesshomaru blinked and found himself standing inside her hut looking down on her sleeping form.

He blinked again.

What was she wearing?

The answer: Not much.

Her shirt was made of a thin white cloth and she had kicked her blanket off in her sleep…and the room must've been cold.

The miko's small hand was curled under her chin, and her eyes were still puffy from all the crying she'd done. Sesshomaru scowled at the sudden bout of tenderness he was having. He pushed it aside, preferring the lust.

She mumbled a little in her sleep, brow crinkling. Then, she flopped over onto her stomach. The shirt had ridden up and revealed the smooth skin of her lower back. He'd settled on his haunches and was running his hand down her spine before he really knew what he was doing.

“Mmm.” The miko really shouldn't make noises like that.

Sesshomaru leaned over her and placed his lips at the small of her back…and kissed up her spine, nudging her shirt out of the way with is nose.

Only when his kisses were replaced with long strokes of his tongue did the little miko wake up.

#

She was having a very nice dream.

But even in her dream, she knew it was very naughty, and very wrong.

Kagome dreamed that Sesshomaru had come back after InuYasha had left and instead of trying to chop her into bits or strangle the life out of her, he was telling her how beautiful she was, how utterly helpless he had become under the dizzying spell of her loveliness.

Then, and she was certain if this happened in real life she'd die of shock, he sank to her knees and begged her to ravage him.

Apparently her dream self was quite aggressive. And good at ravishing.

“So lovely,” he whispered hotly in her ear before running his tongue over said ear.

Wow, Kagome thought. This is the hottest, most realistic dream I've ever had.

Somehow she'd ended up on her stomach in her dream, and Sesshomaru was kissing the back of her neck. Feeling bold (well, why couldn't she let loose a little in her dream?), she rolled over so that his lean body was on top of her. Drowsily, she reached up her arms to encircle his neck.

Kagome opened her eyes.

Wait a minute….

Either her imagination was playing tricks on her, or Sesshomaru really was on top of her, staring at her with smoldering golden eyes.

She was still muzzy from sleep, and her reaction time was a bit on the slow side. Kagome knew she should be full of indignant rage, fear, horror, and other unpleasant things, but his body was so warm.

Not giving her any time to properly wake up or recover from her treacherous dreams, Sesshomaru ran his lips over her jaw, trailing wet open-mouthed kisses all over her face. His armor was mysteriously missing. She could feel his heart pounding.

She realized she should really put up more of a fight.

Sesshomaru successfully banished all thought of fighting when he nudged his knee between her thighs and sucked her bottom lip into his mouth.

He broke their kiss to gently nip at her chin before moving down to nibble her neck. Without thinking, Kagome's eyes slid shut, and she arched her back.

Sesshomaru growled, and for some reason instead of being a terrifying noise…it might've turned her on just a little. Unbidden, a low moan escaped her lips.

He must've taken that for encouragement, for he pushed her tee-shirt up the rest of the way and began to lave at her breast with his tongue.

Oh dear, Kagome thought, this is getting out of hand.

She swore she could feel him smile against the swell of her breast. When his sharp teeth grazed her nipple, she gasped.

“Spell!” she managed to choke out. “Stop it! Spell!”
He raised his head from her breast. His mouth was red and wet, his eyes hooded. “Have you put a spell on me, little miko?” She could feel his voice rumble in his chest.

It made her toes curl.

“Um…well.” She swallowed hard. “I might have. On accident.”

Sesshomaru didn't seem to care much. Mostly because he was kissing her.

His lips felt so good. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to kiss him back just a little. Shyly, she licked the corner of his mouth.

Apparently, he liked that a great deal. Sesshomaru threw his head back, his silky hair slipping over his shoulders to tickle her still bare chest. He then ground his hips into hers to show her just how much he liked it.

Feeling him pressing against the inside of her thigh effectively snapped her out of her lust-filled haze.

“Sesshomaru! Listen to me, please!” She placed her palms on the hard planes of his chest. Kagome could feel the heat of him through his heavy silk kimono.

Panting, he looked at her.

“You really are under a spell. I promise. But it was an accident…. Whoah! Hey, stop!” she said as he rolled his hips. “You have to listen. See…I was getting sorta tired of waiting on InuYasha to…you know…so I went to see this witch and-“

“I've always said he was a fool. This Sesshomaru will not make you wait, little miko.”

His hand covered her breast. Heat rose to her face and there was a tightening in her belly.

“L-like I was saying, earlier, when you picked up that broken vial…and that oil got all over your hand, well, that was a potion. A…um…a love potion. So you see? You don't feel this way about me. But I promise I'm going to go back to that witch and find a way to break the spell.”
His hand stayed where it was. “Perhaps this Sesshomaru does not wish the spell to be broken.” The heated expression faded from his face and he looked…troubled. “But you wish it to be broken?”

Oh crap, Kagome thought. She knew that feeling. When you loved someone and they didn't love you back. It was a really shitty feeling.

She gave him a rueful smile. “It isn't that so much, Sesshomaru…it's just…we don't even know each other. And you don't feel this way about me, not for real. That makes it a lie. And it isn't fair to you. Or me. Maybe after we break the spell, we could get to know each other better. Maybe we could even be friends!”

His eyes narrowed, his lip curling over his teeth. “Friends? This Sesshomaru does not want to be friends.”

He wasn't taking rejection very well.

“Maybe if we start out as friends…we can be more…,” she said. But that was a lie. She doubted InuYasha would even allow friendship. And frankly, as beautiful as he was, Kagome didn't really think Sesshomaru was relationship material.

In a movement more graceful than a man with one arm should be capable of, Sesshomaru got off her. He stood, his features schooled impassively. “This Sesshomaru is no fool, miko. I know you lie.”

Kagome pulled down her shirt and sat up. “I don't want to hurt your feelings. This whole thing…it's really my fault.”

“Your concern is not needed,” he spat. “This Sesshomaru will accompany you to find the witch. We will remedy this unpleasantness as soon as possible.”

She pulled her blanket over her bare legs because Sesshomaru was talking to them. At least, that's where his gaze lingered. “Okay,” she said. Like she could keep him from following her if he wanted to.

But that left one big problem.

InuYasha.

Forgetting modesty, Kagome scrambled to her feet. She grabbed Sesshomaru's hand. “We should leave now.”

He arched a brow at her. “Now?”

“Yes, now! Just let me get dressed, and I'll be ready to go.” Kagome tried to let go of his hand, but he wouldn't budge.

Sesshomaru stared at the small hand in his. He didn't like the way the sight of it made him feel.

The miko had no interest in him.

The realization made his skin feel too tight, made his chest constrict. No, he didn't care for this at all.

She had…rejected him.

Somehow, he'd convinced himself that she would be so honored that one such as him would even take the slightest interest in her, so honored, that she would've professed her undying affections while shedding articles of clothing. Instead, she'd opened her mouth and let him know that no such thing was going to occur.

However, the entire hut was thick with the heady smell of her arousal. Her chest and cheeks were still flushed a fetching pink. She hadn't completely rejected him.

Perhaps, he thought narrowing his eyes, I was simply too forward. The little miko is simply afraid.

He ran the pads of his fingers along the tender skin of her wrist then released her hand.

Sesshomaru would seduce her. They would be traveling alone together, surely, it wouldn't be that difficult. She didn't seem like the type to be plied with gifts, so he would have to ponder the best way to make her swoon with desire.

Of course, that would mean he would be forced to pay attention to the ceaseless stream of prattle that flowed out of her mouth. As she rummaged around in a pile of clothing, bending over with just that little bit of nearly sheer cloth covering her backside, Sesshomaru decided it was a small price to pay.

She whirled around to face him, face florid. “Do you mind?” She gestured to the curtain that served as a door to the small hut.

Sesshomaru inclined his head and left her to dress.

#

That had gotten out of hand fast.

Kagome shook her head, dismayed by her lack of self control. She would've never thought that Sesshomaru could be so…seductive. Terrifying? Yes. Bloodthirsty? Yes. Now she could add hot, good kisser, and…um…hot.

Pulling a sweater over her tee-shirt, Kagome promised herself she'd never let things go that far again. What if they got too carried away? Well, she mused, at least I wouldn't die a virgin.

With a pang of guilt, she thought about InuYasha. She really shouldn't just disappear in the middle of the night. But, with any luck, he'd probably just think she went home. He told her to just go home, hadn't he? Surely he wouldn't jump to conlusions.

Shouldering her yellow backpack that wasn't really yellow anymore so much as a dirty, faded, mushroom color, Kagome pushed aside the curtain.

For a moment, all she could do was stare at his profile. The gentle evening breeze stirred his silver-white hair, the moonlight caressed his pale skin. He turned his gaze on her, and she wondered how she could've ever thought him cold. His eyes burned.

Kagome had a sudden and terrible thought. What if the spell worked both ways? The witch hadn't said it did, but the old bat hadn't said it didn't. Surely, that could be the only explanation for the sudden fluttering in her stomach.

Stop ogling him, Kagome! she warned herself. He doesn't need anymore encouragement!

Ignoring the empty aching of her unfulfilled body, Kagome said brightly, “Well! Let's go. I'm afraid it's quite a walk.”

“We won't be walking,” he said.

Before she had time to puzzle out exactly what he meant by that, his arm circled her waist and drew her flush with his side. At least he'd put his armor back on. Though it certainly wasn't comfortable to be pressed against the cold unforgiving metal, it was better than being uncomfortable for an entirely different reason.

Slowly, their feet lifted off the ground as a small cloud formed under the soles of her tennis shoes.

“In what direction is this witch?”

The flat cold edge of his voice ruined the quiet awe she had for him. “Do you remember where that taijya village was before Naraku?”

He nodded.

“Well, the witch's hut isn't far from there.”

He looked down at her, and she shivered. “Hold on tightly.”

As much as Kagome complained about getting up, she really was a morning person. She rarely slept past dawn when she was in the feudal era.

InuYasha frowned. It was still about an hour before dawn, and Kagome was already up. In fact, she was gone.

Pushing aside his guilt and the curtain, InuYasha stepped into her hut. The smell that hit him made him snarl in fury.
He could smell Sesshomaru everywhere. Happy Sesshomaru.

“Disgusting!” InuYasha grumbled.

The stench was most concentrated on Kagome's futon. And there was another smell there too. He'd sometimes caught a whiff of it when he'd carried her on his back or when they'd been alone together.

Arousal. Lots of it.

Her entire hut reeked of sex.

She'd actually screwed his homicidal jerk of a brother.

With clawed thumb and forefinger, InuYasha picked a strand of luminescent white hair from the futon. The fucker had even shed all over the place…like he owned it. Typical.

He wasn't sure, but he guessed that she'd left with Sesshomaru. But where the hell had they gone?

Happy to find the scent trail still fresh, InuYasha followed until it stopped right on the stone path outside the hut.

He stamped his foot. “Dammit!”

The asshole had used his stupid cloud thingie, InuYasha was sure of it. How the hell was he supposed to find her and get her away from his brother now?

InuYasha snapped his fingers. Sango! If anyone could track a taiyoukai, it would be Sango.

Miroku and the former demon slayer now lived by the ruins of the old taijya village.

Righteous anger propelled him forward. Just wait `til I tell Sango Kagome's screwing my brother! She'll flip out, he thought with a bitter smile, legs pumping furiously as he ran, bounding into the forest.

“Master Jaken!” Rin called after the much-abused retainer.

Jaken narrowed his yellow eyes and cringed. “What is it, you annoying whelp?”

“When do you think Sesshomaru-sama will return? Do you think he'll be bringing InuYasha with him?” Rin asked as she placed a daisy behind Jaken's pointed ear.

The imp swatted the offensive flower, shredding it with his claws. “How should I know?” He smiled. “But you better hope he does, or you'll have to marry Lord Raiju.”

Rin put her hands on her bony hips. “Ha! Sesshomaru-sama would never let that creepy old demon take me away. He said so.”

A flash of sudden lightning and a boom of thunder stole Jaken's teasing rebuttal. A powerful wave of a swiftly approaching demonic aura made his thick green skin prickle. He grabbed the girl's wrist. “Rin! Go and find Ah-Un. Get away as fast as you can.”

Her brown eyes wide and frightened, she nodded and took off, bare feet flying.

Jaken held onto his staff of three heads tightly. It wasn't that he was brave, he wasn't. He would very much like to run away with Rin. But if he stayed here, it bought the brat a little time.

Not that he cared about her. He didn't.

But Sesshomaru-sama would kill him in nasty ways if something happened to his precious ward. And maybe he cared just a little. But not much, and certainly not enough to risk his hide. It was just that nothing was scarier than Sesshomaru-sama when he was angry.

Lightning forked down from the sky, exploding the ground directly in front of Jaken, the force of it knocking him backwards. The imp scrambled to his feet, adjusting his hat.

Lord Raiju of the Northern Lands towered over Jaken, looking down his long aquiline nose at him. The taiyoukai ran a hand through his long black hair. His jade colored eyes glinted as another flash of lightning nearly made Jaken drop in a dead faint.

“Raiju-sama! W-what a pleasant surprise!” Jaken squawked.

Raiju raised a heavy brow. “Is it? Where is Sesshomaru-sama, imp?”

Jaken puffed out his chest and prepared to lie right through his teeth. “Sesshomaru-sama has gone to deliver his ward's dowry to his brother, InuYasha-sama.”

Raiju laughed and held up a clawed hand dancing with sparks of lightning. “Is that so? I think you're lying. You see, I know Sesshomaru's and InuYasha's history, and don't think for one moment I believe he would give his precious ward to his half-brother. Truly, your lord insults me by denying me this. Perhaps Sesshomaru wants war after all?”

Jaken swallowed at the lump forming in his throat. “Sesshomaru-sama will return any moment! He'll gut you like a pig if-“

“He will not. It seems your lord has taken up with a human woman, a miko no less and has gone off on a sabbatical with her.”

If possible, Jaken's eyes bugged out even further. “You lie! Sesshomaru-sama would never dally with some human wench! He hates humans…with the exception of Rin.”

“Enough of your chatter, filth,” Raiju snarled. “I've come for the girl. Give her up, and I won't be forced to kill you.”

Drawing in a deep breath, Jaken held his staff tighter and silently prayed that his Sesshomaru-sama would hurry the hell up and save him.

A/N: How I update: I wrote fifteen or so chapters before I decided to post any of them. Why? I know I don't like waiting months for updates on stories, so I figured cranking out half of the story in a couple weeks would ensure that I got it out in a timely fashion.
Why I don't post them all at once: Two reasons. One, I need time to edit them. Though, I'm certainly not perfect, I really try to make sure my grammatical ducks are in a row and my spelling doesn't make anyone want to tear their hair out. So, posting just one chapter a day gives me plenty of time to make sure all is on the up and up.

The plot: A bit clichéd? Right now, perhaps. I promise to try my best to surprise. We shall see.

Thanks again for the positive feedback! And for reading. Take care!
