Chapter Six
An Acceptable Plan
Sesshomaru was glad to be free of the miko. He presumed she went to be with her friend, the demon slayer. Good, he thought, some peace at last.
He wondered if she were talking about him. Then, he wondered if she were telling her friend about how he'd behaved. He could practically hear her whining voice now: `His kisses drove me wild with desire! But then I realized that he must be quite well-endowed and my young, supple, tender, sweet, virgin body feared such a ravishing! Oh, Sango-chan! How I ache for his caress! What? Oh, you would be willing to help me? Oh goodness, I've never kissed another woman before.' Yes, that was surely what she was saying.
Sesshomaru clenched his fist so hard his claws broke the skin of his palm. As soon as this curse was remedied he was going to kill that witch. Slowly. With poison. And fire. He could always borrow Jaken's staff of three heads.
Jaken.
Rin!
Sesshomaru began to hurry in the direction he'd seen the miko wander off to.
He stopped.
He didn't need the miko for this. How ridiculous. She would only slow him down…and distract him. Sesshomaru snorted. It wasn't as if he actually wanted her with him. At all times.
But what if he left and that garnered her ire? She'd be less likely to consummate the spell if she were annoyed. He really, really wanted her to consummate the damn spell. Briefly, he considered begging, but that was definitely beneath one of his station, though he kept that option open.
He had a week to convince her that he would not harm her once the act was completed.
Though his pride wasn't allowing him to voice it, Sesshomaru couldn't even imagine spilling her blood. When he'd decided to kill her back at her hut and had barely scraped the smooth skin of her throat…he shuddered. Why had even contemplated such a thing? As if killing something that bothered him would simply make the problem disappear.
He blinked. Again, his body had betrayed him and he was standing outside a small house with a thatched roof. Inhaling deeply, he picked up the scent of the taijya, a male, a child, and the miko.
Had he wanted to tell her something? He was certain he was on his way to do something important that had nothing to do with the miko at all.
Briefly, he put his hand to his head and closed his eyes. His thoughts had never been so muddled before. He could think of nothing but the miko. Her face. Her smell. The gentle curve of her hip and the swell of her breasts…the way her skin had tasted. How large and sad her eyes had been, her nose all red and puffy from crying.
He would never treat her as callously as his worthless half-brother had. In fact, he thought he should tell her so right then and there. No use playing these ridiculous games. He, Sesshomaru, was more than a worthy mate. She should be on her knees begging him to take her and make her a proper lady.
They could skip the rigorous courtship rituals. She was human, her lifespan was much shorter than his. Why fool around with lengthy traditions that wouldn't mean anything to her anyway?
Yes, they could get straight to working on making an heir. His mind's eye supplied him with a lovely picture of her belly swollen with his offspring.
Who would be hanyou.
Sesshomaru couldn't suppress his groan. He'd lost his mind. Utterly.
His sharp hearing picked up her bright laughter. It infuriated him. How dare she laugh at a time like this? She should be weeping! Had he no shame, he would most certainly be weeping. He desperately wanted to choke the laughter right out of her. Perhaps a swift blow to the head would dampen her mood.
Or he could silence her by putting his tongue in her mouth.
When he kicked open the door to the house, he hadn't yet picked an option. However, his sudden outburst of violence effectively wiped the happy look right off her face. She frowned.
The monk who had been at the final battle with Naraku gave him a thin-lipped smile. “Greetings and welcome, Sesshomaru-sama. Kagome-sama was just telling us about your unfortunate predicament. Would you like to come in and have a seat?”
The taijya was not as hospitable. “My door!” she cried.
Her shouts startled an infant the monk was cradling. It woke with a loud cry.
“And you woke the baby!” The demon slayer shot him a scathing look, snatched the squalling infant from her husband, slid open a shoji screen with her foot, and then slammed it behind her. Everyone in the house flinched.
“You could've just knocked, Sesshomaru,” the miko grumbled.
Good. Now she was in as bad a mood as he was.
“We are leaving. Now,” he said to the miko.
She laughed, but at least it lacked mirth. Not that he liked it. “You can go anytime you like, Sesshomaru, but I'm staying right here. Who do you think you are to boss me around like that?”
Anger pinked her cheeks and made her eyes flash. Before he could catch himself, he felt a slow smile spread over his lips. The miko narrowed her eyes and backed up a step. She was afraid. Of him.
She had reason to be. He'd behaved erratically. Sesshomaru was even scaring himself a little. He sighed.
“This Sesshomaru would like to extend an apology for the…door.”
The monk waved a hand that was now free from Naraku's curse and smiled. “No need to apologize, Sesshomaru-sama.”
The miko did not seem impressed with his effort to humble himself. She gave him a wide birth and left the house. “I'm going for a walk. Alone!” she shouted over her shoulder.
Sesshomaru's angry gaze slid over to the monk who only gave him a shrug and a cheeky smile.

Kagome wanted to cry.
She felt incredibly stupid. Why had she ever thought the potion would be a good idea? Sango was right. It was deception. If she truly loved InuYasha, she wouldn't have wanted to trick him into sleeping with her.
Kagome swallowed at the lump forming in her throat, her chest feeling tight, her eyes stinging with tears. She blinked them away.
And poor Sesshomaru! He could die because of her childish inability to let go. Even though she didn't really want to and was more afraid than she cared to admit, Kagome knew she was just going to have bite the bullet and sleep with the taiyoukai.
But that left the problem of his rage and shame after the act was completed. If there were only some way to subdue him….
Kagome's eyes widened and she smiled, snapping her fingers.
InuYasha's old rosary!
After Naraku's defeat, she'd removed it and left it with Kaede. It would be perfect for this situation.
Now, if only Sesshomaru would consent to such a thing.

InuYasha dodged just as Raiju's wakizashi sliced the air right where his head had been. The asshole was really trying to kill him!
Somehow, this whole thing seemed very personal. Maybe the demon had a grudge against Sesshomaru.
His thought were cut off as Raiju's fist connected with his jaw. An ear-splitting crack told InuYasha that he would be eating soup for a few weeks. Sparks danced in his vision, but he made a swipe at the demon anyway.
Pain flared in InuYasha's belly as the demon's blade sliced through his haori and bit into his flesh. He could feel the warmth of his blood spreading over his stomach.
With a growl, Raiju imbedded his hand in the wound. There was a sizzle and pop, and then InuYasha was hurtling backwards through the air, his breath leaving him in a painful whoosh, his mouth tasting faintly of copper. He hit the ground hard, but not hard enough to stun him. InuYasha tried to get up…and found he couldn't move at all. His entire body had gone numb and refused to obey his commands.
Raiju towered over him, his lips curling in a sneer of triumph. He put a booted foot against InuYasha's throat. “It appears I have won this duel, hanyou. Consider your suit for the hand of Sesshomaru-sama's ward null and void. I will be claiming my prize now.”
“But she's just a kid!” InuYasha ground out, his vision quickly dimming as more blood pumped freely from the wound in his gut.
The taiyoukai chuckled. “She won't be a child for much longer. If you live to see your brother again, give him my warmest regards.”
“Sesshomaru will come for her,” InuYasha said.
Raiju shrugged. “Perhaps, but then…it will be too late. Farewell, InuYasha.”
As the lights went out and everything faded to a deep black, InuYasha heard Rin's scream. The ominous words of Raiju echoed in his head and spiraled around his failure to protect the child.

Apparently, Sesshomaru didn't know what the word `alone' meant. She shot him an irritated glare, but then sighed. It really wasn't his fault. In fact, every time he followed her around like some ill-tempered puppy, it looked as thought it were causing him actual physical pain.
If Kagome could pick one nice thing to describe Sesshomaru, it would be proud. She knew all of this had to be murdering his pride.
All the same, she had her pride too (even if the whole thing really was her fault). She'd suggested the rosary only to be met with a snarl and a snap of his sharp teeth.
So, she suggested it again.
Sesshomaru stood staring at Kagome as though she'd grown a second head.
“Really, it's the only way I'm going to agree to this.” She was tired of arguing, tired of feeling stupid, and tired of Sesshomaru following her around with that sour look on his face.
“No,” he said for the third time.
“Don't you want to go back to the way things were before this?” She stamped her foot in irritation before she could stop herself. She knew it was a childish way to act, but damn if he wasn't the most infuriating frustrating creature in all the world.
Sesshomaru closed the small distance between them. He looked uncertain and disturbed. He raised his hand and placed it on her shoulder. His fingers twitched, and for a moment he looked at his hand as though it had somehow betrayed him. “This Sesshomaru believes it would be best…but….”
“But what?”
He closed his eyes. He looked so weary. “Why even say it, miko? It is the spell.”
Kagome nodded even though he still had his eyes closed and couldn't see the gesture. “Right! So, I don't get why you won't do it.”
Opening his eyes slowly, he looked at her. “And what if you decide to leave the rosary on this…on me. What then? You think I want you to have that kind of power over me, Kagome?”
When he said her name, it made her sway on her feet. It was something about the way his smooth rich voice rolled it around on his tongue. No, no! she admonished herself. I won't think of him that way. Even if it might make the whole thing more…palatable. Still! I love InuYasha. The voice in her head sounded lame, but she brushed it aside.
“I give you my word I'll take the rosary off,” she said, her voice sounding small and weak.
“And how do you purpose to do that, miko?” The hard edge to his voice was back, all the warmth gone. “If this Sesshomaru is going to be as enraged as you say, what makes you think you'll ever be able to come near me again?”
He had a point. That bastard. She brought the heel of her palm and pressed it against her forehead as though that would help her think.
Much to her surprise, Kagome had a plan. It was a naughty plan, but it might work. Perhaps they didn't have to have actual sex. Maybe…something else would suffice. She cleared her throat and took a deep breath. “Okay. Hypothetical situation here. Bear with me. What if…um…the spell could be broken by not actually…um…sleeping together?” She twisted her fingers, puffing out her reddened cheeks. “Geez, this is awkward.”
Sesshomaru just looked confused. “Spit it out, miko.”
“O-okay. Um…well…what if I did certain…you know, things for you and…it consummated it on your end. But not mine.”
The veil of confusion left his face and his golden eyes went wide for a fraction of a moment. “Do not tease this Sesshomaru,” he said, voice low and husky.
“I guess it couldn't hurt to try. I mean…my friends back home are so casual about it. They'll give a guy a b.j. on the third date! It's no big deal.” But even as she said it, she knew it was a big deal. Others could be flippant about that, but she couldn't. Her heart was tied to everything.

Sesshomaru couldn't take much more of this. His blood raged through his veins, his vision blurred around the edges. He couldn't even hear properly. All he could focus on was the miko as she kept insisting he wear that ridiculous rosary that had once belonged to his loathsome half-brother.
On many occasion he'd seen the miko `sit' the hanyou. And while that had been most amusing and gratifying, he certainly did not want that to happen to him. Ever.
Finally, he was convinced he got her to see things his way. So, the miko took a different approach. Though he had no idea what a `b.j.' was.
“Well? What do you think?” she asked him, her cheeks still flushed with embarrassment.
He didn't want to ask her what it was as that might imply he didn't know everything. He gathered it was some sort of sexual favor a woman did for a man. Of this, he heartily approved. That was moving in the right direction.
The miko was twisting her fingers again, eyes on the ground. “I mean…which would be more humiliating for you…sleeping with me or me just…you know…letting me do that thing I was talking about…to that?”
He raised a delicate brow when she pointed to his groin. Sesshomaru's curiosity was certainly piqued. “I assure you, miko, anything you do will not garner any complaints from this Sesshomaru.”
The anger was back in a flash. “I'm not talking about now! I'm talking about after! Which act will make you least likely to kill me?”
For the very first time in his life, Sesshomaru had no idea what was going on. Raising his hand, he pinched the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes. “Enough with your coy suggestions, wench. You are giving this Sesshomaru a raging headache. Speak plainly. What are you talking about?”
Licking her lips, the miko looked around and then leaned close to him, her face by his ear. She whispered her plan to him, and he tried to pay attention, but as she described the thing she wanted to do to him with her hot breath sliding over the shell of his sensitive ear, he lost all composure and forgot that he wanted out of this humiliating situation.
Sesshomaru grabbed her roughly by the shoulders and silenced her with a forceful kiss. He grinned against her mouth when she stopped struggling and beating on him with her pathetically weak little fists.
At last, he pulled away. She looked flustered and dazed. Her mouth was red from his assault, her hair mussed in most a fetching fashion. He smiled. “I believe your plan is acceptable,” he said.
A/N: Just so you know, the next chapter will send the rating of this fic to R, though I don't consider the scene a true lemon. Where it will stay until near the end…when it will go up one more time.
