Sesshomaru looked around him and hundreds of people walking and buzzing around him was what he saw. He looked over at a group of girls and when they knew that he was looking at them, they started screaming in this unbearable voice and ran away in an absolutely girly way.

 

Sesshomaru, who had took their adorations for feared, smirked and thought, `People still fears me. Tsk.'

 

Kagome, who thought that Sesshomaru was actually flirting with those girls in her school, frowned slightly.

 

`What's wrong with him? Must he have such a big reaction??!!' Kagome mentally thought. Suddenly, she remembered what she was doing and immediately hides her frown, replacing it with a confused look. `Am I actually…jealous?' Thinking that this was just ridiculous, she shook off the thought off her mind and continued to make her way to the brown house resting area.

 

Sango and Miroku of course saw how Kagome had reacted and looked at each other knowingly. Ever since Inuyasha had declared that he chooses Kikyo over Kagome, Kagome was distraught and heartbroken for months.

 

However, Sesshomaru had actually captured her away during one of those months. Yes, they had chased Sesshomaru for Kagome back but in vain. To their greatest surprise, Kagome actually came back in one whole piece, riding on Sesshomaru's back. Even when Sesshomaru had left, Kagome seems to feel that the separation was … …dreaded.

 

Kagome did not revealed anything and Inuyasha did not query any further and in brings an end to the matter. But, after a few months later, the day when all of them had get into Kagome's world, which was just a couple of days ago, Sesshomaru just happened to went up to them and started battling Inuyasha.

 

Miroku noticed though that Kagome was looking at Sesshomaru instead of Inuyasha as usual and Sesshomaru was looking at Kagome instead of concentrating on the battle.

 

Sango, on the other hand, noticed that Sesshomaru seemed to be extremely annoyed when Kagome had went over to help Inuyasha instead of him, he suffered some injuries too.

 

They did not know what actually happened when Kagome was at Sesshomaru's palace and was dying to find out. Kagome always shifted the topic to another one, mostly about their relationship, in which they would be too shy to ask any further and by when which they would forget. Clever - the conclusion of the couple.

 

Finally, they had reached the brown house's resting area and put down their things in place. Like just know, some girls were peeking and batting their eyelashes furiously to Sesshomaru and Inuyasha and Miroku. Kagome however, was too worried about her next race, compared to such trivial matters. She did not notice that Sesshomaru's eyes were on her the whole time.

 

`Why did I smell jasmine? Is she nervous?'

 

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~After an hour~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

 

Kagome's heart was thumping at fast rate. Just 30 minutes ago, she had had her first race, the 4x400m race was a success and brown house was first. However, she had slightly sprained her ankle when she sprinted. Now was the 800m race, she cannot afford to lose at all.

 

Kagome looked over at her opponents, all of which were boys. She shuddered at the thought of being last but soon abandoned the thought when the whistle was sounded.

 

“Athletics get ready.” She had only sprained her ankle… it's nothing big… It suddenly gotten pain and she winced. Sesshomaru's ears perked up and he looked concerned, but did not do anything. It was her race after all.

 

“2…” Kagome looked over at her housemates and house teacher… and then at Sesshomaru. Was she imagining it? He was nodding his head in encouragement! Not the enthusiastic kind, but the comforting kind.

 

“3!” Kagome sprinted as fast as her legs could carry her, like the way she always did in the feudal era when chased by a demon. She could not fail them!

 

Kagome opened her eyes slowly, only to find Sesshomaru's concern eyes looming above her face. She could see concern… … and sensed anger. Oops!

 

“Why did you run the race? Why didn't you tell me about your sprained ankle? I had thought that it was just stitches or anything and dint stopped you… It was your race after all…” Sesshomaru blamed her.

 

“Hey… …” Kagome started explaining. “ This is… … I… … I… … Sesshomaru? Are you okay?”

 

Sesshomaru was hugging Kagome and she could feel that it was a possessive hug. Behind Sesshomaru, she could see Sango and Miroku laughing softly and Inuyasha giving a small smile, as if he agreed to this relationship. Pleased and relaxed at her friends' approval, she hugged back.

 

` When did we have a relationship?' Kagome mocked at herself. It was sad to admit, but Sesshomaru never said he loved her. It was just her own guess. For all she knew, this was just a hug of concern!

 

He didn't know why he did that. He just suddenly had an urgent urge to protect and cradle that fragile girl, to keep her away from all the others. Due to the worsening of the sprained ankle, she had fainted in between the race. He was the first to rushed over; he could not afford to lose Kagome, his Kagome. It was only till then did he realize the importance of Kagome to him.

 

Kagome blushed deeper when the hug was tightened. Ever since she had returned from his palace, where he had showered utmost care for her heartbroken soul, she had unknowingly forgot about Inuyasha and started to fell for him. He was the one who healed her, saved her from distress and cared for her.

 

When she was in her most fragile moment, he had appeared for her. Why? She had asked herself several times and even dreamed of herself asking him the question. She always woke up in the most crucial time though.

 

“Why?” Kagome whispered softly to him, only loud enough for the both of them to hear.

 

“Because I love you and I want to protect you,” Sesshomaru answered.

 

Out of a sudden, Eri, Kagome's friend suddenly shouted at the embraced couple, whom both was lost in the warmth of the hug.

 

“Kagome! What are you doing here hugging some guys? The next race is up! What are you waiting for!” Eri accused Kagome in a pointedly way.

 

“Oh yah…”

 

“Then?!”

 

“But, Eri…”

 

“Kagome, just try!”

 

“It's really painful… …”

 

“I will run for her.”

 

“Huh?” Eri and Kagome asked in unison.

 

“Really?” Kagome asked in an unbelievable tone.

 

“Yes. I believe the hanyou is slower,” Sesshomaru looked over at Inuyasha who “Keh!” before turning away again, causing some girls to scream loudly at her “cute” reaction.

 

“Eri, he cant…”

 

“Okay, just go now then. No one would care about your clothes!”

 

“Alright.”

 

“Sess…”

 

“Shh… …” Sesshomaru placed a clawed finger over her lips, “trust me Kagome.”

 

Kagome nodded and he went out into the tracks, causing more girls to scream. Kagome rolled her eyes and muttered, “What a bother…”

 

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~After 10 mins~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

 

“Sesshomaru! We won! We won! We won!” Kagome was jumping up and down, throughout pleased with brown house getting championship. Sesshomaru just looked down at the girl who looked just like a child. Like Rin.

 

He smiled at the bubbly girl beside him and was instantly rewarded with a smile from Kagome.

 

Kagome grinned at Sesshomaru. He had run at 30 secs for the 1500m! 30 secs! Even the teacher was shocked and Sesshomaru did not appear a least bit tired and did not pant at all! Of course, they all knew better.

 

Kagome laughed again when Sesshomaru caught her and nuzzled the cape of her neck, and she squeaked in return.

 

“Hey! This is public!” Kagome scolded Sesshomaru gently. He smirked and whispered into her ears, “ Lets get home then.”

It was a glory moment for Kagome, lifting up the house cup high up. It's just too a shocking news that they actually won! They had lost to Red house at first but because of Sesshomaru's timing, they had won!

 

Kagome went over to Sesshomaru and grinned, handing the cup to him, saying, “You earned it.”

 

However, Sesshomaru instead tossed the cup away and whispered, “ I want you instead,” and he kissed her passionately.

 

Kagome could have sweared that she melted in his strong arms. To their utmost surprise, a fragment of the sacred jewel felt out from their lips meeting point and they break away in surprise.

 

Inuyasha, Sango and Miroku immediately stepped forward to examine the fragment of sacred jewel.

 

“This must be the last piece of the sacred jewel. Legend has it that only the guardian of the sacred jewel shared a true kiss with the Lord of the western lands, a wish would be granted. It's true then… …” Miroku explained the source of the fragment of the scared jewel.

 

“Our purpose is the sacred jewel, so this came off.” Sango ended. She looked over at Kagome but smiled when she saw that she had returned to the kiss with Sesshomaru.

 

Inuyasha bothered but pleased that the sacred jewel was finally completed, suddenly sensed someone else instead. `How could it be?'

 

`Naraku' walked away, smiling at Kagome and Sesshomaru.

 

“That's the least I can do for you, Kagome… …” `Naraku' whispered, several soul - stealers following behind him an a split second before the darkness devoured `him', `his' hair hanged to long and silky black with a white ribbon tying it up, leaving two long bunch of hair beside her cheeks, the wind blowing gently behind her.
