The audience cheered and the performing girl smiled in appreciation. She didn't mess up! She silently congratulated herself as the curtains closed.

"That was wonderful, Kagome!" Kagome's music teacher ran up to her and whispered excitedly.

"Thank you!" Kagome replied in a whisper.

It was then she went behind stage.

"That was awesome!" many people said to her.

"You are such a good singer!" Kagome's friend, Eri told her.

"Thanks!" Kagome blushed. Every time Kagome sang, people would crowd around telling her how good she was.

It wasn't long until Kagome's other friends Rin and Sango came in.

"Kagome!" Sango called out to her.

Kagome looked over at them. They both looked excited.

She ran over to her friends.

"Hey guys!" Kagome smiled.

"You're not gonna believe this!" Rin spoke.

"What?" Kagome asked.

"There's a guy out there who wants to see you, Kagome!" Sango said.

"A guy?" Kagome immediately thought that it was going to be some guy asking her to the prom or something, though she actually wasn't that popular in school. People only liked her voice.

"Yeah! He said he wants to see you!" Rin smiled.

"Is he cute?" Kagome asked with a smile.

Sango shook her head.

"Nooo, you don't get it! He wants to see you about your voice! He's not someone from around here." she explained.

Immediately Kagome felt herself become excited.

Someone who wants to see me for my voice?

"Come on!" Sango grabbed her friend's arm and lead her out of the backstage area and into the school hallway.

Kagome noticed a man with very long white hair and piercing amber eyes standing in the hallway with his hands in his pockets. He looked like some sort of fashion-whiz with that boa thing over his shoulder and the white suit he was wearing.

Sango and Rin lead Kagome to the man.

He looked at Kagome and held out his hand.

"Hello, you must be Kagome..." he said.

Kagome nodded and shook his hand.

"I'm Sesshomaru Youkai and I'm head manager of a record company called Youkai Records. You have an amazing voice, Miss..."

"Higurashi." Kagome told him her last name.

"Miss. Higurashi." he smiled one of his rare smiles, only used as first impressions.. "Anyway, you have a wonderful singing voice and I wanted to know if you would let me see more of your work, if possible." he told her.

Kagome paused.

She had heard of Youkai Records before. But all the artists signed to that record company seemed to all be rock bands. Kagome surely couldn't perform rock if he was planning to sign her...

Wait... sign me?! Sign me to a record company?!

"You're planning to sign me to your record company?!" Kagome gasped.

"It depends. I'd have to see more of your work and get your parent's permission." he said calmly.

"Oh my god!" Kagome gasped out.

Sango and Rin were squealing in excitement behind her.

"Are you parents here?" Sesshomaru asked.

Kagome nodded.

"Yeah!"

"Will you take me to them so I can speak with them about this... that is, if you want this." he asked.

"Of course I want this! S-sure! I can take you to see my mom! My father doesn't live with us." she explained.

Sesshomaru didn't reply.

Kagome was about to lead him into the gymnasium where her parents would be with the rest of the audience, but decided to ask him about the record company first.

"Wait... doesn't Youkai Records commit themselves to rock bands and stuff?" she asked.

Sesshomaru nodded.

"Is that a problem?" he asked.

"I can only sing the stuff I do for the school talent shows... that's not rock, is it?" she asked, afraid of the answer.

"It's a type of rock. Pop/rock to be exact." he explained.

"Really?" she asked.

He nodded.

Kagome turned and began to lead Sesshomaru to her mom.

"Cool!!" Kagome squealed to herself.

They made it to the gymnasium -- in which intermission was taking place -- and almost immediately found her mother, grandpa, and little brother Sota.

"Mom!" Kagome exclaimed.

Her mother turned her head.

"Kagome! You did great, honey!" she told her daughter happily.

Sota turned his head to look at his sister as well.

"Yeah, nice goin', Sis!" he smiled.

Her grandpa gave her a thumbs up.

Kagome said another thank you and then explained who was with her.

"Hello Ms. Higurashi." Sesshomaru gave another first-impression smile and shook her hand. "I'm Sesshomaru Youkai, the head manager of Youkai Records, and I've noticed that your daughter has a lovely voice. I was wondering if there was any chance that you'd have some tapes of your daughter singing that I could see."

Ms. Higurashi stood up.

"Oh, well I'm sure we do. You can come over to the house sometime to watch them if you'd like. I don't really feel comfortable of the idea of you borrowing them..." Ms. Higurashi began to reply.

"Oh, no. I wasn't planning on borrowing them. Infact, I was going to ask you if you'd give me permission to come to your home sometime to see them... maybe you could invite me for dinner?" Sesshomaru suggested.

Suddenly Kagome's grandpa got up.

"Now see here, young man! You are a complete stranger to this family, so I'm sorry but you cannot come into the Higurashi household!" he said quite sternly.

Sesshomaru was more or less taken aback.

"Grandpa!" Kagome said in a protesting tone.

"Come on Grandpa, this could be Kagome's big break!" Sota also protested.

"I'm sure Mr. Youkai is a very nice man. Why not have him come for dinner?" Ms. Higurashi asked.

Grandpa was silent for a few moments as he thought about it.

"Fine, but if you try anything fishy, you know I'll have my eye on you!" Grandpa said as he pointed a finger at the tall man.

"You have my deepest thanks." Sesshomaru replied with another soft smile.

"Eee!!" Kagome smiled giddily.

"So when is a good time?" Sesshomaru asked Ms. Higurashi.

"Well, when are you free?" she replied.

"All this week."

"Tomorrow!!" Kagome hyped.

"We can't tomorrow, remember we have to go shopping..." Ms. Higurashi replied.

"Yeah! To get my new videogame that I've been savin' up for since last year!" Sota smiled happily.

"How about the day after tomorrow... Sunday?" Ms. Higurashi suggested.

"That's fine with me." Sesshomaru replied.

"Alright! Then it's settled!" Kagome smiled.

Sango and Rin squealed again.

"Thank you for taking time of to do this, Mr. Youkai." Ms. Higurashi smiled, shaking his hand again.

Sesshomaru nodded and said, "It's well worth it."

"Well, I'll be going then. Here's my number incase you need to contact me." with that, Sesshomaru handed Kagome's mother what looked like a business card. Ms. Higurashi thanked him and he was off.

Kagome squealed.

"I can't believe this is actually happening!" Kagome said to her friends.

"Yeah! You could become famous!" Rin exclaimed.

"And Youkai Records?! Kagome, you will be the most popular singer out there if you get signed with that company!" Sango told her.

All three girls squealed.

"Look at 'em, Mom..." Sota said.

Ms. Higurashi smiled at her daughter's happiness.

"I hope I don't ever act like that when I get what I want..." he said, blinking.

Ms. Higurashi laughed.

"You're close to acting like that. I can't wait to see how you'll react tomorrow when you get that videogame of yours..." she winked at him.

He just looked up at his mom.

After a few minutes he looked back at Kagome...

"I won't act like that..."
