Chapter 5

Kagome whimpered loudly under Inuyasha's hand.

"D-Don't try that h....helpless act thing with me..." Inuyasha swayed on his feet, but his clawed hand remained over Kagome's mouth. "You're not going to ssit me th-this time..." Kagome whimpered again. His claws were digging into her cheeks and trickles of blood ran down and stained her kimono.

(No no no no stop it Inuyasha please stop it no stop stop stop I said-) "Stop!"

Sesshomaru saw the flash before he saw Kagome and descended to find Inuyasha struggling to get up across the field from her. He blinked. (What is-)

"Never again, Inuyasha." Kagome stood trembling, tears of anger and rage flowing from eyes that now glowed fuschia with fierce power. The power seemed to drip down in her tears and stained her clothing, spreading over the fabric in a dripping wave, leaving a tight black material in its wake. It dissipated at her feet, leaving the shaking woman in high black boots, a black band in place of a skirt, and a black halter tied loosely to flowing black sleeves. The fuschia began to pulse in her eyes. "I will not let you take over...me!" On the last syllable, she flung her arm out, a bow appearing with the movement.

Inuyasha's movement caught Sesshomaru's eye and he turned, numbly, towards the hanyou. "Kagome...why..." He opened his mouth wide to force the next words. "Are you doing this? I just want you to..."

Kagome, twisting her lips, raised the bow. Seeming to aim at him, though she had no arrow, she whispered her answer. "I'm only doing what I should've done the first time you hurt me." She drew her right hand along the bow, making to knock an arrow. But, as her fingers traced a line over the bow, an arrow appeared. The arrow glowed the fuschia of her eyes and seemed to radiate energy. The arrow knocked, Sesshomaru slowly drew in a breath. (I've never felt such power from this...from anything before...) His eyes narrowed. (What is she?)

The clearing came to a still. Inuyasha standing now, the weight of what was happening finally reaching him, Sesshomaru standing off, knowing better than to come into the line of a power like that, and Kagome, ready to release her arrow and kill her first love.

She began to shake. It started slowly, visible only in the bow. Then it rose to her arms and legs, and soon her eyes, masked over with power widened and she gasped, a shuddering, fearful sound. "What..." The arrow itself began to shake and flicker. "Is this?"

The arrow, finally shaken unstable, shattered. Like glass, the fragments flew apart and fell through the still air, fading like remnants of a fallen star. "No..." Kagome whispered, letting the bow drop. It faded as well before it hit the ground. "I can't..." She brought her hands slowly to her head, the light fading from her eyes. "I can't kill you..."

Finally, with another trembling gasp, she fell to her knees and leaned forward. "I just can't." And fainted.

All was still again, broken only by Inuyasha's suddenly ragged breathing. "Ka...Kagome? Are you..."

"She's not dead." Sesshomaru stated simply, and began cautiously approaching her limp body. "Simply fainted." He concluded after a definitive breath of her scent. He stood over her body. (What should I do?) His eyes drew to Inuyasha, who still stood a bit away.

"You..." Inuyasha growled and Sesshomaru, catching the anger, turned fully towards him.

"What of me?" He challenged.

"You were on her." Inuyasha breathed heavily. "You were on her again!" He screamed in a hoarse voice at his elder half-brother.

The scent of whiskey, fading but unmistakable, touched Sesshomaru's nose. "Vile creature." He spat and turned on him. "She should have killed you."

"What was that?" Inuyasha yelled, his mind clearing.

"She should have killed you!" Sesshomaru snarled back, not bothering to mask his anger. Suddenly, on impulse, Sesshomaru sent a lightning whip under Inuyasha's feet, sending him crashing to the ground. Taking the opportunity, Sesshomaru pulled Kagome's limp body to his chest, avoiding the spikes in his armor, and rose to the sky.

"Learn some honor, hanyou," Sesshomaru yelled down at Inuyasha, who now stood on the grass, screaming incoherently up at Sesshomaru. "And I will return your human." Inuyasha's final screamed obscenity echoed through the sky and Sesshomaru turned on him and left.

(Filthy creature...)

I know this is short, but it's all I have in my head. Sorry... Please review... Oh and if you need a better picture of Kagome's outfit, I attached a picture to this story, "Starlight Kagome", and she's wearing the outfit I just described.
