“Aw, come on Kagome. Jump!” Inuyasha guided her towards the diving board.
Kagome dug her heels into the ground. “No… I don't wanna. Ask Rin, I cant dive.”
“Yep, the last time she tried, It was on the high dive and she did a belly flop. She was sore for weeks. It was so funny.” She left off with a giggle.
“Feh, this isn't a high dive so you won't… just jump.”
Kagome turned to run another way, “No… I don't want to.” Inuyasha held her by the waist and literally dragged her to the board. “Please no… yasha?”
Inuyasha held her back to his chest at the end of the board. “Fine, if you don't wanna go alone, I'll just go with you.” He whispered into her ear before jumping with her into the pool. She screamed, but was soon muffled by water.
She quickly swam away from him and up for air. When Inuyasha came up she slapped him, hard. “Damn you.” She hissed at him while turning around to leave the pool.
“What the hell was that for bitch?” Inuyasha rubbed the red of his cheek.
“Oh did I forget to tell you that she is deathly afraid of diving. Ever since someone pushed her off a semi high cliff into a lake, she was scared shitless of diving at all.” Rin piped up from her spot in the pool. Sang and Miroku were playing pool and chuckling away.
Inuyasha arched an eyebrow; “Someone pushed you off a cliff?” he started laughing hysterically.
Kagome stepped out of the pool and growled, “Yes… I went with some friends, including Rin here… who didn't help me one bit, and I was looking at the water below the cliff and someone pushed me off.” She watched Inuyasha slip underwater laughing, and then looked over at Rin, who was blushing and giggling. Her eyes widened, “It was you!” she pointed an accusing finger towards her friend.
Rin burst out laughing. “it took you this long to figure that out?” she looked over at Kagome, but instead was pushed underwater by her.
“I'm going to kill you, Rin!” she warned as Rin struggled and fought back playfully.
Inuyasha took that moment to pop up. Rin had thought Kagome was playing around, but he could tell she was actually pretty mad. He swam behind Kagome and pulled her away. “Breathe baby, breathe.”
Rin looked up in surprise that her throat actually hurt. “Jease Kags, it was only a joke.” She rubbed her neck.
“Oh, funny huh? You thought it was funny that I fell from a cliff? You thought it was funny that I was this close,” she held up her hand and pinched her fingers together. “From hitting the rocks? Well laugh all you want because I am going to show you how I felt, in pain!” she growled as she struggled against Inuyasha's grip.
Rin felt guilt begin to wash over her, “I-I- didn't know… it was supposed to be a joke.”
“Well I wasn't laughing!” Kagome spat in response. She pushed Inuyasha away and headed for the towels. She wrapped one around her and headed for the door. “I'm going to my room. I'd advise no one come to visit me at this moment.” The door slammed behind her. By now both Sango and Miroku were froze and watching the whole thing.
“Rin, maybe you should go talk to her.” Sango suggested, walking over to the pool and kneeling behind Rin.
Rin looked down as the guilt took over her body, “I think I'll give her some space. I can talk to her later.” She slowly walked from the pool and pulled her own towel around.
“I'll go talk to her.” Inuyasha said while pulling on his shirt.
“No… she needs to be alone. Just let her be until I talk to her.” Rin said before walking from the room and heading towards the room her and Sesshomaru shared. She opened the door to her room to see Sesshomaru sitting on the bed reading the paper. She sighed and walked over to her closet and picket out a tank top and sweats. “I'm gonna take a bath.” She quietly said walked to the bathroom. Sesshomaru only nodded. She slammed the door behind her, she was hoping he would notice her sad and do something, and was mad that he did nothing. But she threw the thought away and turned on the hot water. She took off her bathing suit and hopped in the tub. All she wanted to do was sink into the water and let the heat wash away the guilt that now flooded her mind. Kagome was her best friend and would probably die if they split up because of what she had done. `why did I have to be so stupid.' She mentally beat herself, the only thing to help her through her guilt. All she did was sit in the tub and think about how she messed up.
There was a slight knock on the door. “Are you ok in there, Rin?” Sesshomaru asked worriedly.
Rin jumped, but soon sighed, “Yeah… just thinking. You can come in if you want, it's unlocked.”
Sesshomaru opened the door and walked over to her, kneeling beside the marble tub. “What's bothering you?”
She made no move to cover herself; it didn't even faze her. She only looked down finding her hands to be very interesting. “its just, well I kinda made Kags mad. And now she probably hates me.”
“What did you do?” he asked in a gentle and caring voice.
She looked up for a second and looked back down at her hands. “About three years ago me her and a couple of friends went on a trip to a lake. We were having a blast and Kagome was just watching the river off the edge of the cliff. One of my friends pointed that out and I took the opportunity and…” she mumbled the rest of the sentence.
Sesshomaru heard what she said and cracked a smile. “You pushed her off.” He stated flatly. Rin only nodded, beginning to blush. “Then why didn't you tell her it was you before instead of letting it go for so long?” she shrugged and felt her eyes well up. He had a good point. Why didn't she tell her sooner? God she messed up bad. The water in her eyes began to drip down her face while she thought about it more. Sesshomaru sighed cupped her chin in her palm, directing her to face him. “get dressed and go talk to her. She seems the kind of person who can forgive if you just talk to her.” He wiped away her tears and kissed her lightly. He stood up and pulled her with him. Grabbing a towel, he wrapped it around her. “I have to go to a meeting in fifteen minutes. You cant come with me this time so stay here with the girls.” He kissed her forehead and turned around. He stopped after a thought, “Oh, and NO going out while I am gone.” He tossed over his shoulder before leaving.
Rin let out a snorted `ugh' before pulling on her clothes. He was right; she had to talk to Kagome. That was her destination, so she headed out and to her friends room.
*~~*~~*~~*~~*
Kagome lay on her back with a pillow squished between her arms. She was both pissed and sad. At the moment she didn't know what to feel so all she did was lie flat on her back and cry silent tears. She was hurt that her best friend was the one who had done that. All she wanted to do was scream, but held back for some reason. She heard a knock on the door and replied with a quiet `come in.' Rin slowly came in and Kagome sat up. Rin ran to Kagome and gave her a hug. “I'm so, so, so sorry Kags, I should have told… I should have never done it. I am so very sorry.” She was now crying.
Kagome felt herself unconsciously wrap her arms around the girl and sighed, agreeing with herself. “Its okay Rin. Just promise me you wont ever do anything like that again.”
Rin nodded. “I promise. Are we still friends?”
“Yeah, forever.” The two hugged until the door swung open.
Inuyasha came in and smirked. “I see you two made up… anyways, Kagome, I have to go to some stupid meeting with bastard in like ten minutes.” He walked over to her as the two girls split apart.
“I take it its important and only you can go.” Kagome assumed, receiving a hug from him.
“Yeah, you gonna be alright here with them?” Kagome nodded before pulling him into a kiss. It fell into a passionate kiss, causing Rin to back up and off the bed. Inuyasha smirked. “Mmm… I have to go babe, wait till I get back.”
“Are you sure you can do that yourself, yash?” she scoffed, noticing the bulge in his pants.
Inuyasha pulled away from Kagome, “Only if she stops.” She gave him an innocent look. “Yeah, yeah… I'll be home late, so don't wait up.” He said, leaving the room.
Both Rin and Kagome burst out laughing. “Love you Yash!” Kagome yelled out the door.
“It might be smart to get some ice on your way out.” Rin added with a loud laugh.
“Fuck you Rin!” Inuyasha growled from the hall.
Miroku was waiting by the elevator, buttoning his shirt. It turned out that Inuyasha, Miroku, and Sesshomaru all got rooms in the basement. Kouga also `had' one down here, but now only Ayame is in it. Miroku pulled his hair back into a ponytail. “Hey, ready?” Miroku asked, brushing himself off.
Inuyasha only gave him a knowing look. “I see Sango relieved some of your tension.”
Miroku blushed slightly and gave a sly smirk, “what can I say? I just couldn't go a whole night without her.”
“You do know we are coming back… oh and you have a little of `her' on your mouth.” Inuyasha smirked as his lecherous friend wiped it away.
“What is this stupid meeting for anyways.” He asked looking in the elevator mirror.
“Hell if I know… bastard said we had to go so ask him.” The elevator doors opened and there was Sesshomaru, waiting impatiently with a very angry and cold look in his eyes.
“why hello there great, tall, lord Sesshomaru… what ails you my friend0.” Miroku asked, giving a weak smile.
Sesshomaru looked at his brother. Inuyasha nodded and slapped the back of Miroku's head. “Now that that's over with, lets go.”
*~~*~~*~~* Later that night
“Err! Why wont it work?!” Sango growled, trying to fix the now broken x box.
“Well maybe because you threw it against the wall.” Rin added flatly.
“Yeah Sango, just because you lost doesn't mean you should destroy the damn thing.” Kagome bickered.
“The stupid controller wouldn't work, so the stupid thing should die.” Sango growled again.
“O…Kay then… um, I'm a little tired, so I think I'll head off to sleep.” Rin yawned and stood up.
“Okay, night Rin!” Kagome stood and gave her a squeeze.
“Yeah goodnight.” Sango mumbled, trying desperately to fix the game system. “ahah!” it flicked on and it started to play on the screen. “Oh, I am so good. Wanna play Kags?”
“Sure.” Kagome grabbed a controller as Rin left the room.
It was about three in the morning and they still hadn't gotten home, and Rin was truly beginning to worry. Rin walked to the kitchen and grabbed a cup for soda. She felt two arms wrap around her and she nearly screamed, dropping the glass. She spun her head around to see Sesshomaru with an amused look on his face. “You had to do that didn't you.”
He kissed he forehead. “I couldn't pass.” She turned the rest of her body so she was now facing him, and hugged him.
“How was your meeting.” She asked, leaning her head against him.
“As planned.”
She looked up curiously. “What is that? `as planned'?”
“Exactly what its titled, as planned.”
“Fine. Where is yash and Miroku?” Rin said pulling away and picking up her mess of broken glass.
“They fell behind, said something about a birthday present.” Sesshomaru explained, getting another glass.
Rin froze. She totally forgot Kagome's birthday was tomorrow, well now today. “Shit… I can't believe I forgot.” She quickly threw the glass into the trash, “Hey sesshy? Is there anyway possible you could take me to the store?” she smiled desperately.
“I suppose.” He put the glass away. “On one condition that is.”
Rin frowned. “What?”
“You give me back my phone.”
Rin smirked, “its mine now and if you aren't taking me, I can always sneak out later.”
“Rin.” Sesshomaru growled. If it weren't Rin he was talking to, any other being would have pissed themselves. “You are not going to sneak out.”
“Well then it looks like you've got no choice but to take Me.” she gave him a toothy smile.
Sesshomaru sighed. “Lets go before I change my mind then.”
*~*~*
“HAH! I beat you again! Now I can go to sleep.” Kagome yawned, cracking her knuckles.
“Gerr…. I swear its that damn controller.” Sango mumbled, throwing it against the wall
“you keep saying that and maybe it will come true. I think I will leave you and it together so I can sleep…”
Sango jumped up and pulled her friend to the couch. “No, um…. How about lets watch a movie? Sounds good let's do it!” sang sat Kagome on the couch and popped in the queen of the damned.
“Sango, you're acting pretty strange. Every time I want to go to bed you keep on stalling me. is there something your not telling me?” Kagome crossed her arms and arched her eyebrow.
“No, of course not. I just want to hang out with my very good friend here.” Sango jumped on the couch and turned off the lights. “Now watch.”
“Fine… but I get to go to sleep after this.” Kagome leaned back and watched the movie.
About halfway through the movie, Sango went to go get her and Kags a soda, “Hey Kags, what do ya want?” there was no reply. She popped her head out of the fridge, “Kagome?” no reply again. She looked over at the couch to see Kagome with her head leaned to the side and her mouth wide open, and she was giving off a quiet but noticeable snore. “Yasha's gonna kill me now.” She grabbed a soda and sat down quietly next to Kagome. She watched the movie for about five minutes and soon found herself just as tired.
*~*
Inuyasha and Miroku quietly walked down the hallway, which led to the arcade. Inuyasha had told Sango to keep her there and busy until he got back. Miroku had also talked to her and made it clear to her as well to keep her awake and busy. Inuyasha turned to Miroku, “You think they're awake?”
Miroku only grinned, “I bet you their not.” The two got to the door and peeked inside. And just as they thought, there was Kagome and Sango sleeping on the couch. The boys crept in, shutting the door quietly behind them and walked over to their women. They set their bags on the recliner before setting down between the girls on the couch. Inuyasha carefully shifted Kagome so she lay across his lap, fortunate that the couch was very long. Her head was on a pillow lying next to Inu's leg and her back was stretched across him. She let out a comfortable sigh and snuggled closer to the warmth. Meanwhile, Miroku only sat Sango on his lap with her head leaning on his shoulder. He grabbed the remote and flicked on the TV. They sat there watching cartoons all night until they too fell asleep on the couch. Which that only lasted a couple of hours until the sun came up. Kagome stretched her arms over her head and yawned. She smiled to see that she was with her hanyou, but frowned at how uncomfortable he must be. His head was lolled back, hanging off the back of the couch. One of his arms were underneath her and the other was stretched out along the top of the couch. She giggled when he mumbled something like `no I want ramen, not cereal.' And then returned to snoring away. She looked over to see Sango and Miroku sleeping both in very awkward positions. Sango was sitting on Miroku's lap with the rest of her body swung over the arm of the sofa. Miroku was leaning to the side with one arm under Sango's back and the other over her stomach. It kinda looked like they were dancing… in a strange sorta way. She was jerked form her thoughts when she felt Inuyasha's hand graze against her back. She looked up and smiled. “Good morning.”
His ears twitched and he yawned before looking back down at her with a groggily smile. “Mornin' babe.”
Kagome sat up and hugged him tightly. “When did you get back last night… I don't remember you coming.” She whispered, careful not to wake the others.
Inuyasha smirked, “Well we got back really late last night and you and Sango were already asleep.” He looked over at Miroku and Sango and laughed. “That looks pretty painful.” He said before kicking Miroku's side, causing the monk to jolt awake.
“What the hell?” he growled as sago also let out a string of curses. Miroku looked at the laughing couple beside them and growled again. “Damn you yash.” Then he looked over to the giggling female on yasha's lap. “And happy fucking day to you too.”
Sango slapped him on the shoulder, “He means happy birthday, kags.” Sango slapped him again.
Kagome's ears popped up and she stopped laughing. “Oh yeah… I kinda forgot. Wait, how did you know? I never told any of you about that.”
“You forgot your own birthday.” Inuyasha said flatly.
Kagome blanched, “well, a lot went on, and I kinda forgot… but still how did you know? Did Rin tell you?”
“Well…. Umm…” Inuyasha scratched the back of his head.
“What my o mighty hanyou leader is trying to say is that he asked me to look you up and find out the main highlights of your life.” Miroku quickly rambled, trying to cover for his friend.
Kagome frowned in anger, turning her head to her mate. “You mean you had me searched? Why didn't you just fucking ask me?” Kagome growled.
Inuyasha's ears flattened to his head and he gave an innocent look, “I did nothing of the sorts.” He shot Miroku a glance before returning to Kagome. “I bought you a birthday present!” he said, trying to change the subject. He reached over to the recliner and grabbed the bags.
Kagome grabbed his arm as he reached and dug her claws in just enough to get his attention. “No, don't change the subject. Explain to me why you didn't just ask.”
Inuyasha sighed, “well, I figured you wouldn't want to talk about it with everything that was going on. Now let me just have my arm back so I can give you your present.” He struggled to get the bags.
Kagome let go and looked over at the gawking two at the other end of the couch. She only smiled before frowning immediately at Miroku and growling. She stood up and brushed herself off. Inuyasha looked up at her confused. “Where do you think you're going?”
Kagome flung her tail at him, “why don't you just look it up, cause I sure as hell don't wanna talk about It.” she turned and looked at Sango. “Thank you for the great time last night Sango.” She marched from the room.
“Fuck!” Inuyasha growled before grabbing the bags and getting up. “Come in about fifteen minutes, then we will celebrate.”
Sango and Miroku looked at each other and shrugged before grabbing the remote and fighting over what to watch.
*~*
Kagome barged into her room and slammed the door shut. As soon as she heard the click of the door, she let out a loud frustrated scream. “Happy fucking birthday to me… yay I get to leave!” she said sarcastically, walking to the closet to get her stuff. It wasn't as much of him actually looking her up, it was more that he never asked her… and never told her he did it. Reaching the suitcase she slammed it down to the ground, immediately unzipping it and throwing clothes in it. She had no actual idea why she was packing; she really didn't think it was that bad, but she was doing it. She finally filled the thing and was satisfied with what she had so she made her way to the door. She paused before opening the door and locked it instead. Finally taking control of the situation, she threw the case by the bed and walked into the bathroom. She looked into the mirror and scowled. Her ears flattened to her head as her gaze dropped at her neck, viewing the small crescent like mark. Bearing her fangs she punched the mirror, causing it to shatter into her fist. Again, she had no control on what she was doing. She spun around and blanched. There, standing right in front of her was the person who ruined what should have been a good time.
Ok ok, gomen for being late. Went on a trip. Anywho, bet ya don't know who it is… and if you have an idea, I bet you'll get it wrong. Anyways… I don't know when the next time I will be able to update is… I am leaving for a while… watching my ten year old cousin, going to a lake, and maybe even going north to a friends house for a couple a weeks. I will try to add in between as much as I can and will try my hardest to update before I leave for up north. Thanx.
