The nightshift.

One thing I never really got used too, but what can you do when the seasons change. It was mandatory to make sure that we changed so that there wasn't too much stress. Their way of saying that nightshift was too boring and all that needed to be done was paperwork.

And that is what I sat there doing now - well into the shift.

I had yet to see hide nor silver hair from Inuyasha. And knowing what has been happening recently I decided to grab Kagome. She didn't want to come.

"Don't worry about it Bryan. He just needs a day off."

I raised a brow. "Why, he's been fine over the past few weeks."

She pulled me out of the hallway and into an office.

"It's his time, Bryan. He doesn't want anyone else to know - so keep hush."

"His time?" I asked. Sure, I know half demon's fairly well… but what was this?

"It's the new moon. Inuyasha is human tonight."

"Oh I get it. He doesn't want anyone to know that he is feeling vulnerable."

"Right. Now I have some paperwork to get done."

I grabbed her arm as she walked away. "Pack it up. We'll head home and stay with him. No doubt he is lonely."

Kagome nodded her understanding as she walked to her office and shut the door. I went to mine - to pack up.

-----------------

I turned the key into the lock and heard it click - pushing my door open into my house only to realize it was pitch black.

"Inuyasha, turn the lights on. It's us." Kagome said.

Nothing.

I could only slightly see Kagome's expression on her face, she seemed worried.

"This is new." She whispered.

I drew my gun and flipped the switch.

I gasped for air as I found Inuyasha fast asleep on my couch with his feet up on the arms.

"This is a first. He normally never falls asleep during this night." Kagome said, walking over to him and shaking him a little.

I watched as his arm snatched her and flipped her over onto the floor. He landed on top of her hand to her throat. "Who are- oh, it you guys. Shit." He muttered, getting off Kagome and helping her up.

"We came home after Bryan thought you would be lonely."

"He knew?"

"I told him."

"Kagome." He growled. I stopped him. "With all the things going on lately I was worried a little. I made her tell me." I said, giving Kagome a wink when he turned to her to see her nod.

"All right." He said, sitting back down on the couch. Kagome next to him.

I sat at the desk in the far corner of the room, shifting through papers.

"Hay, Kagome, do you have the G-18's I sent over today?"

No answer. "Kagome?"

I turned around to find the two curled up on the couch with Inuyasha being protective as his arms snaked around her, holding her in place. I sighed, packing up my things and heading for the desk in my room. Let these two have their time.

---

At some point I must of fallen asleep. I woke up to a soft pounding at my door. Someone gasping for breath… Kagome!

I ripped my door open. She was slumped against the wall.

"They… they came through the window. The.. drugged us…" She said, passing out - I caught her mid fall. Dragging her into my room and shutting and locking my door as I shut it. Drawing my weapon and go to their room.

The window was open and an obvious struggle had happened.

Lowing my weapon, I wondered aloud. "Why didn't I wake up?"

--

"You too were drugged. Drink or eat anything with in the past four hours? You have trace amounts of Nara-typhoid in your blood stream."

"They were in my house… I didn't realize it." I said as Drake took his gloves off, putting in the in biohazard bin.

I sighed. "Damn. They fucking took Inuyasha." I jumped off the table as Kagome pulled back the curtain.

"What are we going to do? I want to go after him, really I do - but the rules say that I.A. has to handle it. Stupid policies."

I looked back up at her as I strapped my gun to my hip.

"For the next few days, we're breaking all the rules."
