Chapter 27
Almost There
Sango looked at the clock. She sat upright very quickly. She could not believe she had overslept. “Damn!” she cursed loudly. She could feel the dry tears in her eyes as she rubbed them gently. She felt like shit and thought about calling off work. She knew better; they could never find a replacement quick enough, especially on a busy night like tonight.
A stretch and a sigh later found her running toward the shower. She had just finished towel drying her hair. Running the dryer over the steam covered mirror, she could clearly see her dreadful state. Her eyes were red and swollen from crying. `What have I done?' She cringed thinking about walking out on him. Sango closed her eyes; she didn't want to think and just wanted to focus on her job that happened to start in an hour.
Walking out of the steaming bathroom, she approached her closet and began browsing through her clothing. It was definitely a jeans night. However, she couldn't decide between the denim blue hip huggers or her favorite, light blue denims with the tattered hole in the knee.
Looking between the two, she decided for the hip huggers. It was amateur night and some alternative band was playing, so she wanted to dress for the occasion. She hoped the music would be a good distraction. If she thought about Miroku, she didn't think that she would be able to serve all the hungry customers. She huffed. `Yeah, customers calling “hey you… miss… bartender— need another one!”'
Looking at the clock, she realized she needed to pick up the pace. Grabbing a white halter-top, she quickly dressed. Tying the fabric in a knot, she let the tails hang freely down her sleek back. Looking in the mirror, she was pleased that the outfit accentuated all her curves—but it was still lacking. Smiling, she returned to her closet and found a black suede belt.
She pulled up her hair in a ponytail, leaving some tresses running down the sides of her narrow face. Finishing her make-up, she headed downstairs. Sango glanced at the clock. “Shit.” She was running late and should have left five-minutes ago. Hurriedly, she finished putting on her black ankle boots with a flat heel; they were very comfortable and would be suitable for tonight.

Sango was out of breath when she entered Old Joe's Tavern. Clocking in, she was relieved that she had two minutes to spare. She could see the stage, and the band was tuning their instruments. She never heard of them and could only hope they were good.
Glancing at the bar, she could see a couple of customers, their cigarettes sitting in the ashtray while they kept to themselves. Probably wallowing in their own self-pity. She could relate to that, she was feeling the same way.
She was here to relieve first shift. Approaching the younger blonde-haired person, she said. “Hello Jessica, you can go if you want to. I can handle it from here.”
“Sure Sango,” her blue eyes sparkled. “See you tomorrow.”
“You know it!” Sango tried to sound enthusiastic, but it sounded more sarcastic and could hope Jessica would not start asking questions. Sango was pleased Jessica didn't pry and gave her a smirk kind of grin saying, “We'll talk later.” She just smiled as she watched the girl grab her purse and leave the bar.
Turning her attentions back to her job, she grabbed a white towel from the sanitized bucket next to the sink. She began cleaning the top of the bar, while she emptied and cleaned the ashtrays. She always made sure that her bar was stocked thoroughly and was well prepared for her evening rush. Although Justin was coming in later, she liked to be prepared because he would always go get the ice. She hated that job, especially after the majority of the front of her blouse was wet. Wet and cold did not do well together. Therefore, she always tried to cover her perked nipples.
Looking up, she made sure everyone was still good on his or her drinks, and who all were too busy indulging in daily politics. The highlight of that conversation tonight was the war. Sighing, she tried to ignore the rowdiness in the customers' voices. She wasn't in the mood to converse, and she thought maybe they picked upon the negative energy she knew she was surly producing. She was sad; that couldn't be helped. In addition, she was fighting feelings she didn't think could be created in just one night.
Walking over to the large sink separated into three basins, she began cleaning the glasses. Then after the third dunk, she placed it onto a towel.
“Why did you leave me?”
Sango stopped, as she let the glass fall into the sanitized water. Her heart began to flutter. Was she hearing things? That couldn't be Miroku. Her mind was racing a mile a minute, trying to come up with the right words to say. She lowered her head in shame; tears were trying to escape her gloss-covered eyes. Her lips were quivering; she tried to say his name. Until she remembered that, she could talk. “Miroku…”

Bankotsu reached in his pocket and placed his badge on his shirt pocket. Making sure the badge secured tightly to his shirt, He quickly cleaned up the evidence of his crime, placing everything back in his coat pocket. Bending down, he picked up Rin. “Sorry…” he grunted as he lifted her in his arms bridal style. “I'm just doing my job!”
Pressing the button to open the elevator doors, it wasn't long before they glided open. He walked confidently out of the elevator shaft. He was pleased nobody was in the hall. Walking up to the clerk, he announced that he was a police officer, and he was taking her to the hospital. Nobody asked any questions but just watched on with curious and concerned eyes as he left the hotel.
Rin's lifeless body dangled in his arms. Bankotsu rushed to his car and placed her in the back seat. Locking the doors, she would not be able to escape if she came to before she arrived at his boss's mansion. Closing the cruiser's door, he climbed in the driver's seat and started the car. Turning on the sirens, he fled. Two miles down the road, he turned them off. After all, no one would even consider questioning him—or at least not until Sesshomaru found out.
He glanced in his rear view mirror; pleased to see she was still unconscious. Reaching over to the passenger's seat, he retrieved his cell phone. Picking it up, he dialed Naraku.
The phone rang a couple of times as he impatiently awaited his boss's voice. He smirked, “Naraku! Guess who I have laying in the back seat of my cruiser!”
“Bankotsu…you know I don't like to play the guessing game! Get to the point!” Naraku growled, gripping the phone tighter. “This better be good!”
“Oh it is! Mission accomplished.” Bankotsu gripped the steering wheel tighter. “Any news with Hiten?”
“I presume you're bringing her here. No, I haven't heard anything. He better not fail me, or it will be you that will have to kill him.”
Bankotsu bit his tongue. `God, don't do anything stupid Hiten.' He knew he could not kill his own brother. He could only hope that it didn't have to come down to that.
“Well!”
“That is correct. I just hope the rains from last night didn't flood the streets only to slow me down.”
“Very well. Stay in touch.” Naraku grinned wickedly as his eyes squinted with sheer delight. He hung up the phone and roared with laughter. “Now to bait Inuyasha and his meddlesome brother.”

Kagome found herself on Inuyasha's back again. Of course, she should have known that he wouldn't let her walk. They progressed further down the steep hill. The trek was bumpy and the constant pitching didn't help her mood or her sensitive stomach.
She figured she was going to start soon, and that dampened her mood even more. She was hoping for a romantic interlude with her lover—unfortunately. “Damn!” she cursed loudly, causing Inuyasha's ears to flatten.
“What the fuck Kagome! Do you honestly have to scream in my ears?” Inuyasha snorted. He suddenly smelt her tears and immediately felt bad for yelling at her. “Please don't cry,” he pleaded.
“Oh shut up,” she wailed. Her hormones were taking a toll on her this time of the month—more so than usual. She was on a time limit and didn't have anything underneath her skirt. She really didn't want to start on the back of her lover. “Do you think you can run any faster?” she pleaded urgently.
Sesshomaru stopped running; he turned back to the group. Ignoring Kagome's incisive whining, he sniffed the air. He recognized this patch of forest, but he needed affirmation. “Shippo? Do you recognize this spot?” It smelt familiar; he waited for an answer.
Shippo sniffed, approaching Sesshomaru. He observed the wooded area; he was certain this was the very trail that they took from the town. “Yeah I do!”
“Thought so,” Sesshomaru said smoothly.
“You don't plan to take that way back, do you?”
“Do you know another way?” Sesshomaru said as he turned his attention to the fox. “Besides, it doesn't smell safe, and the sound of the river stops. Which means there's another waterfall?” He sighed, “Besides, this will be quicker. I don't want to venture back into the jungle either.”
Kagome was growing impatient; if she had something to throw, she would probably aim it at the two demons in front of her. Instead, she decided to voice her own opinion. “I don't give a rat's ass what path you take, just fucking move!”
Inuyasha snarled; he'd had enough. “Sesshomaru, I will catch up. Kagome and I have to have a private discussion.
“Oh, no we don't. You just keep on marching dog-boy!”
Without another word, Inuyasha leapt up the slight ravine, he reached behind his back, and flung Kagome over his shoulder as she made a high-pitched scream.
Kagome landed on her feet as she stumbled backwards. She tried to maintain her balance. “What the fuck is wrong with you, Inuyasha?”
“Me! I'm just here to tame that dragon of yours again!” he expressed as he began slowly stalking her.
“What are you doing? Stay back!” she yelled. She couldn't keep her eyes off his lustful golden eyes. She had backed herself against a tree. “I'm warning you!”
`Bah.' Her threats went unnoticed. His mission was simple. Relive the fire-breathing dragon. It was time to put out the fire.
Before Kagome could register, he had her pinned tightly to the base of the tree. She struggled in his grasp; her eyes were alive with furry. However when his lips crashed down upon hers, she couldn't help but comply.
Inuyasha knew this wasn't about pleasing himself, as his erection rubbed stiffly against his pants. His lips continued to distract her as his hand roamed down her body. He passed her breasts and continued caressing the soft skin. He managed to find his way under her skirt. Inuyasha was pleased that she did not have her underwear any longer and hoped that she wouldn't find them in his pocket where he stashed them away. They where thin enough to where they didn't leave a bulge.
She felt his finger slide slowly into her as his thumb massaged her now swollen clitoris. Her mind went mushy, and she began to rub her body along with his finger. She felt him insert another one. He pumped in and out of her.
Inuyasha couldn't contain himself as he listened to her grunt. She had stopped kissing him so she could breathe. He let go of her arms as he released his hardened length from his confining pants. The need for her consumed him. He wanted to feel her constrict around his penis. He also needed to be careful…he didn't want to start a family just yet.
He rammed himself inside the tight walls from her vagina. Pumping himself rapidly inside her as hard as he could. He realized that she was leaning against the trunk. Grabbing her around her neck, he took the pressure off her back, and he continued slamming himself inside her. It wasn't enough, and he wanted to drive himself deeper inside her.
She was close. She sighed when he suddenly stopped. Until she was thrown on all fours with her backside now vulnerable to him, she moaned loudly when he re-entered her.
Inuyasha grabbed her hips as he listened to himself slapping against her.
Kagome couldn't hold herself up any longer and found herself face first into the moss. She moaned loudly; she was about to climax. With a large scream, she ruptured with intensity as her body began to tremble.
Pleased, he knew he was close also. He could feel himself and stopped thrusting into her. Pulling out of her, he shot his white seed away from her as he howled into the jungle.
Both panting, Inuyasha knew that they needed to catch up. He was sure his brother was waiting, and he would probably be scolded later. Lifting her up, he spoke softly as he kissed her forehead. “We have to get going. You can wash up when we get to the bank.”
She just nodded and then followed him. She had to admit she felt less agitated. `If only we'd done this sooner'

Kagome smiled after her cool bath. She watched as Inuyasha knelt down, waiting for her to mount. She hopped on his back effortlessly.
“Hold on!”
She rested her head on his shoulder, wanting to close her eyes. She held him tightly with her legs and arms. She smiled and whispered in his ear, “ Don't I always.”
Inuyasha smiled as he retreated toward the scent of his brother.
