Disclaimer: Sadly, I don't own InuYasha and the gang. Except, the characters I made up.
Kagome was awoken by cold water being dumped on her face.
“What the-” Kagome started.
“Good morning Kagome, ready for training?” asked Ashley. Kagome looked at her clock. It was 6:30 AM. Kagome turned back to Ashley and made an icy glare. Ashley just smirked. “I'll meet you outside in fifteen minutes. If you come out even one minute late, I will make you run three miles,” Ashley said, walking out of Kagome' room.
Kagome jumped off her bed. She put on jeans and a t-shirt, pulled back her hair, washed her face and brushed her teeth. Kagome told Kirara to stay put. She met up with Ashley at the God Tree. She made it out just in time.
“To start your lessons, close your eyes and look deep inside yourself. Search for a white, glowing star in a maze. When you do, you have found your elemental power. You must unleash your power. When you do, you will feel the earth saying your name,” said Ashley.
Kagome closed her eyes. She found herself in a maze. `Guess I should look for it,' she thought and started to jog.
Three hours later, after many dead ends, she found the glowing star. It was so bright and beautiful. She walked up the stairs and found herself in front of it. She walked into it and she felt the power flood through her. As Ashley had told her, she heard the earth saying her name. The sound was so exquisite.
Kagome opened her eyes and smiled. Ashley guessed that she found her base of power.
“Now, since you have unleashed your power, you can manipulate the elements. To do so, you must think of the element in your mind, lift your hand, and say an enchantment. For example, say that I want Air to fly me to a place. In my mind, I can see Air swirling around me. I lift my hand and say `I call upon the elements of earth. I call Air to do my bidding. I command you to take me and Kagome to the Tokyo Park!'” said Ashley.
All of a sudden, Kagome saw Air circling around the both of them. Strangely, Air looked like a woman. Her body was wispy, like the wind and white. Kagome was lifted up along with Ashley and they were flown over the city. They arrived at the park and were dropped onto the ground softly.
“You didn't tell me that elements look like people!” exclaimed Kagome.
“Of course they do. I'll let you meet them. I call upon the elements of earth. I call Earth, Fire, Air, Water, and Metal. I command you all to show yourselves in front of me!” Ashley called out.
All of the elements showed themselves. Kagome was in awe. Earth was looked like Mother Nature herself, but she was green. Fire looked like flames and was red. Water looked like liquid and was blue. Metal looked solid and was silver. Then, there was Air.
“The elements are spirits. They were created when the earth was created and they were created to represent the elements. My mother fell in love with my father. His ancestor was a god of the gods and goddesses. His ancestor created earth and his power went to me instead of my sister. The power chooses its master,” said Ashley. Kagome made a silent wow.
“Now, these five elements know that you are the next master of the elements. You are still a Miko, though. That is very rare. Now, I want you to take us back to your house so we can resume your training. I don't want anyone seeing us doing any magic,” said Ashley.
Kagome said the enchantment. She saw Air whisk them away and flew them back to Kagome's home. “You can use your power to fight and to not. I will show you how to if we go to the Feudal Era since there are many evil demons still alive,” said Ashley.
Kagome's face went sullen. How could she go back? Kagome agreed nonetheless. She led her mentor to the shrine and opened the portal. She called out for Kirara and Kirara ran to Kagome's side. Then, they jumped in and they were back in the past.
For a month, Ashley taught her student everything she knew. She taught her how to grow flowers from the ground by using Earth. Then, there was how to bend the strongest metals by using her hands in midair. She could breathe underwater by the help of Water.
The mentor taught the student of the way to fight the enemies by using the elements. It took Kagome a long time. She really had to think how to fight along with the elements. Such as making a flame spiral by using Fire. Ashley told Kagome that she couldn't just command the elements to do her bidding; she had to do some fighting herself. Kagome could make a fire punch. When she got stronger, she didn't have to use the elements. She could just manipulate the elements. Such as, she could just think about it and it would happen. Kagome could use the elements when there was a powerful enemy.
To Ashley's surprise, Kagome became stronger than herself after six months of training. Kagome had fought many demons in the Feudal Era. Of course she won, but not in the beginning. After time passed, she won all the battles.
Time to time, when she wasn't training, she would talk to Kaede and visit the graves of her friends. She would also visit the last spot where InuYasha and herself last saw each other. `I'll come get you one day my beloved. I'll come rescue you,' she thought to herself. In a way, it was a vow, a vow that she would keep until the day she died.
Kagome turned around and went back to training. It was a test to see if she could control her powers. Her mentor told her that she had to use some of the elements at a desert. Kagome had to make a desert turn into a lush of green fields. She had to use Earth to make grass, trees, and flowers; water for ponds and lakes; and anything else she wants.
Kagome arrived at the desert. She focused all of her powers and said, “I call upon the elements of earth. I call Earth, Water, and Air to do my bidding. I command you all to make this desert turn into a green pasture with flowers and trees, to make ponds and lakes, and to make the air cool!” There was a bright light of green, blue, and white.
It was a success. The brown, plain desert turned into a lush, green pasture. Ashley was impressed. `Yes, she is done, but there is one more test she must pass. I really hope she is ready,' Ashley thought. “Kagome, are you ready for your next test?” asked Ashley. Kagome turned around and nodded. She knew what the next test would be. She would have to fight a rather large demon.
After a half hour, they found a huge cockroach demon. Kagome shuddered. She hated cockroaches. Ashley stayed rather far away. She would give her student as much room as she needed.
The fight started slow. The demon wasn't that fast because of its size. Kagome dodged all of its attacks. She smirked and in her mind she called for fire. Out of her hands, a blast of fire went straight to the demon. The demon made a loud shriek. It fell on its side and it was burnt down to its inside. Kagome turned around. It wasn't much of a fight, but at least she passed, hopefully.
Kagome walked to Ashley. “I am pleased, Kagome. You have passed all your tests. You are worthy for the elemental powers. Now, I must be gone. Good-bye Kagome. Call me if you need me,” Ashley said. Then, she vanished into thin air.
`When did she start doing that? Oh, that's right! She's a spirit,' thought Kagome with a grin on her face.
That was it. That was all the training she needed. For almost a year she'd been trained to master her new power. She decided to go back home and spend time with her family. She rarely had any time with them because she was always with her mentor. “Come Kirara,” said Kagome, “Let's go home.”
