Training was over and Ashley was gone. Kagome was sitting alone on the God Tree with Kirara sleeping in lap. Kagome was taking a break from cleaning the house. Souta was home and was finishing for her. She was grateful for that. Kagome was thinking about her friends again.
It was a year since the whole incident and she was twenty. A thought popped into her head. Why didn't she think about it before? Kagome closed her eyes and went to see Midoriko.
Kagome went to the bench and as she expected, Midoriko was waiting for her. “Midoriko, can I ask you something?” Kagome asked nervously.
Midoriko raised an eyebrow because she noticed the nervousness. “You may ask me anything you want my dear Kagome,” said Midoriko.
Kagome started fidgeting in her set. “Well, I was thinking, Do-you-think-I-could-resurrect-my-friends?” Kagome asked quickly.
Midoriko laughed. The way that Kagome asked had amused her. Kagome was eyeing her, wandering why she was laughing at her. She finally realized that and smiled weakly. It was hard to ask Midoriko because she was scared at her reaction would be. But, this wasn't it. She thought Midoriko would yell at her or something.
She finally calmed down and looked at Kagome. She sighed and said, “Kagome, I know that you miss Miroku, Sango, and Shippo, but it's wrong to resurrect your friends. Think about it. Your friends might be happy where they are.” Kagome knew that, but she needed them. She wanted company.
“I know Midoriko, I know. I just want to be with them and stuff. I might need them some day, you know? Ugh, I just want to know if there's a way. Please, please help me,” pleaded Kagome. She even threw in her infamous puppy eyes. Everybody she knew always fell for it. Even Midoriko.
“There is a way. You have to go to their gravesites. You must have a partner with you; Kaede would be a good one. You must bring offerings and read the words that I'll write for you. You may have to go through trials to see if it's worth bringing them back. When you've proven yourself, they'll be alive once more. The same as the always were,” said Midoriko. She wrote down what Kagome had to say.
Before Kagome left, she asked, “What kind of offerings am I to bring?”
“Blood of a fawn, a Sakura plant, and an unborn Robin. Those would represent spring, or a newborn.” Kagome nodded and left.
Kagome opened her eyes. She saw her brother looking at her. “You went to see Midoriko?” he asked.
“Yes I did. No, it's none of your business of what I discussed with her,” Kagome said. Souta huffed and turned on his heel. Kagome giggled.
“Well Kirara, we have a few things to do.”
Kirara cocked her head, wondering what she was talking about.
