Chapter One

Cause of the Sickness

A/N This story is my first story for the public to view, so please give me help, advice, comments and PRAISE!

"Man I really needed that bath, Kikyou's scent was all over me" Inuyasha says with a smile as he walked away from the hot spring. "Although it's not like her scent is bad..."

QUICK NOTE: Kikyou and Inuyasha did not do "it," he just hangs around Kikyou all the time. That's why her scent is on him.

As he walks back to the village he hears a young lady screaming, "Someone please help us!!!"

'Since I am the only one around here for miles' he sniffed 'I guess I can see what all the commotion is about.' He walks (a little faster than usual) to where he heard the young lady scream.

In a clearing a little ways away from where the hot springs are, a demon (a bit smaller than the God Tree) is destroying a small families home. (It's actually more like a small hut) 'Why would a demon of that size be after such a small family's home?'

Inuyasha jumps at the demon, "Sankon Tesuou!" (Iron Reaver, Soul Stealer) He cuts though the demon decapitating him and sending bits and pieces of the demon everywhere including over the nearby trees and ground.

"We thank you, Inuyasha" A young lady says, "Next time bring the Shikon Jewel with you so I don't have to go out of my way to steal it from your miko bitch!" The young girl transforms into a sorceress wearing a dark purple kimono with light purple sleeves. Her hair turns from short and black to ankle length and blue. She is hovering slightly off of the ground, obviously trying to show Inuyasha her power. The rest of her "family" turns into dust and gets blown into the wind."You fell right into my trap Inuyasha-chan, I wish I didn't have to kill you, you're adorable!" She flies higher into the air and her hands glow a light blue that is similar to a purified arrow.

'How could I not sense her aura in the young girls body?!'

"Never let your guard down!" The sorceress screams, "Now I will teach you why!" She brings her hands in front of her, crossed, and releases her spell.

Inuyasha narrowly avoids her attack, but her spell involves razor sharp wind, so he did get a few minor cuts. They heal almost instantly. He jumps up and punches her square in the ribs, knocking the wind out of her. The sorceress falls all the way down to the ground and flips to avoid her death. Inuyasha lands next to her. "You are indeed strong." She says in a winded voice as she grabs where he punched her, "That hurt!" "It is not wise to hurt me..."

The sorceress glows a deep red and he can see that she is slowly rising from the ground again. 'She must be charging her power.' 'I can't let her do that.' Inuyasha jumps back into the air and screams, "Sankon Tesuou!" As he charges toward the sorceress.

"I was expecting that." She says as she narrowly avoids his attack, "But you will not avoid mine." She smiles excitedly as she releases yet another spell. The sorceress charged all of her power into her staff (yes she has one, but I did not mention it before) and points it at Inuyasha.

"Now you die." Out from the tip of her staff comes a beam of red light. Sparks and bolts of lightning come spurting from the attack.

Inuyasha avoids this attack since it was only a beam of energy, not wind, but the spell impacts the ground and leaves a large crater. Inuyasha jumps at her again, "Sankon Tesuou!" This time the sorceress was too drained of magic to avoid him. Inuyasha slices through her and kills her. Her body falls to the ground.

'Her decaying smell will attract more demons if I leave her here, and it is far too close to the village to have that so I will bury her away from here.' He slings her over his shoulder and jumps away towards another clearing. He puts her down and digs a quick, deep hole. 'That should be deep enough.' He places the sorceress inside and buries her. He can feel her aura pass off of her and disappear.

Inuyasha jumps across the trees back towards the village.

As Kikyou walks down the steps from the shrine, she grabs her side in pain and collapses on the ground. "Inuyasha-"

Inuyas ha lands on the ground a ways from the village and decides to walk from there.

"INUYASHA!" A young samurai yells, "SOMEONE FIND INUYASHA!"

A small group of people have gathered to where the priestess Kikyou had fallen. A few were caring for her and a few went to get the village doctor.

Soon almost half of the village was looking for Inuyasha.

"I found him! I've found Inuyasha!" A woman screams as she looked into the forest.

'Why would she be looking for me?'

"Young man!" An older man in his 70's or 80's says to Inuyasha, "The priestess Kikyou has fallen ill."

Inuyasha takes off running to find Kikyou. "Wait!"he says, "She is being cared for in her hut!"

"Thanks old man!" Inuyasha says as he runs off in that direction.

'Please let her be alright...'

Inuyasha rushes into Kikyou and Kaede's hut. Kikyou is laying down on her futon (sleeping) and the doctor is checking up on her. Kaede and the doctor both look at Inuyasha as he barges in.

"Is she ok?!" Inuyasha says as he run up next to Kikyou.

"Do try to be quiet. She needs her rest." The doctor says. Inuyasha growls. "I want to know if she is all right." He says in a cold tone.

"The priestess Kikyou does seem to have some sort of an illness, of what kind I do not know. Her pulse is stable and her outer body seems fine also." Inuyasha growls lowly at that last comment. 'The doctor must have checked her body for cuts and bruises.' 'He should not look at what is not his.''Wait why am I getting jealous? He is simply a doctor and nothing more to her. He is doing his job. Nothing more.'

"I will stay with her." Inuyasha says to Kaede and the doctor.

"Very well" the doctor says, "If I am no longer needed..."

"Oh of course!" Kaede jumps up and bows deeply to the doctor, "WE greatly appreciate you helping my sister."

A "Hmph" comes from Inuyasha's mouth.

"That's about the best you will get out of him." Kaede mutters as she points to Inuyasha.

"I understand." The doctor says.

"Inuyasha, I will be in the next room, if something comes up." Kaede says.

QUICK NOTE: In the T.V. show, Kaede looks a lot younger that Kikyou. In my story she is only about 3 years younger. Also Kikyou and Kaede's hut is fairly large.

Inuyasha watches Kikyou intently as she sleeps. He does not sleep or leave his position in front of Kikyou for the whole night. In the morning, Kikyou is stirring in her sleep. "Inuyasha" "Can't leave. please, stop- mine"

"Kikyou it's ok I am here." Inuyasha says as he places his hand on Kikyou's shoulder. Her eyes snap open, but she slowly closes them and falls back asleep.

Kikyou stirs in her sleep again, but wakes up fully this time. It is about mid-day.

"Are you ok Kikyou?" Inuyasha says with a worried tone.

Kikyou sits up slowly and turns her head towards Inuyasha. "I feel as if half of my energy is gone." She says.

"But how can that be? You weren't attacked were you?" Inuyasha says with worry in his tone.

'I should have been there to protect her.' He thinks.

"No I was not attacked. I just felt as if half of my energy was drained all at once, and I am not used to that feeling, so I fell unconscious."

"Do you have any idea why this happened?" Inuyasha asked Kikyou.

"I have an idea why but I do not understand how it could have happened." She says. "I think my power is being drained from someone from another time."

"But that's not possible Kikyou!" Inuyasha yells, "That can't be possible.."

"Inuyasha I can feel her energy on the other side of the well. I know that the last person to travel through was that priest, and he never returned, but Inuyasha I want you to take the Shikon Jewel and travel through the well. Please try to find the person who is doing this to me. I can hold off here until then. I still have enough power to cast most of my minor spells. The Shikon Jewel will allow you to pass through the well and back again. Please hurry, Inuyasha."

"But Kikyou!" Inuyasha yells again, "I can't leave you again!"

"Inuyasha, not leaving me could do me more harm." She says, "Now go to the shrine and get the jewel and go. I love you Inuyasha, please take care and return to me."

"I will go." He says, but then does a double-take at what she last said. "You love me?"

"Yes Inuyasha I do."

"I love you too." Inuyasha says leaning toward Kikyou and wrapping her in a tight hug, "I will go and I promise that I will return to you."
