Inuyasha ran through the forest, long silver hair flailing
behind him in the wind.
"Stupid wench..." He thought bitterly. "Always leaving and not saying
a damn word! You'd that that she could-"
But his thoughts were cut short as he was hit full blast with a
scent. Not just any scent, Kagome's scent. Strong and sweet...like
fresh flowers, he thought. This smell aroused many feelings in
Inuyasha. At times, a comfort. When he smelled it, he felt so content
and safe. Knowing she was there felt so right. At other times, the
scent was so strong and luring, it was annoying as hell. At those
particular times he wanted to grab Kagome, pull her to him, bury his
nose in her raven hair and just breathe it in, let all it's sweetness
consume him. But he knew he couldn't. He could never. That's what made
it so annoying.
So he would distance herself from her as much as possible.
To no avail, most times. She was so persistent, that one, he thought.
But as the dog-demon stood watching as Kagome pulled herself out of the
well that connected their worlds, he had to wonder, Why can't I be with
her?
Many things popped up in his mind. Sango and Miroku, what would
they say? Kikyo, am I over her? And of course, Kagome. Does she love me
back? LOVE?! oh no, i said the "L" word. Well...maybe I do mean it...
"Inuyasha! Are you just gonna stand there and stare at me or help me
with my stuff?!"
Kagome's shrill voice broke his train of thought. So, without
a word, he walked over and picked up one of the bags (probably filled
with books) that Kagome brought. He noticed something...there was
another smell coming from Kagome...what *was* it?! He couldn't put his
finger on it...
"Umm...Inuyasha...what's up with you? You look kind of....dazed."
Inuyasha said nothing, just continued to stare at her.
"Hello!" Kagome clearly wasn't getting through to him. She knocked on
his head. "Is anyone home???" That smell...Inuyasha thought...is it...
could it be...?
In one swift movement Inuyasha dropped the bag he was holding
and wrapped one arm around Kagome's waist and pulled so that their
bodies were pressed together.
"What are you doing, Inuyasha?!" Kagome exclaimed. She attempted to
pull away, but Inuyasha would not have this. He grabbed her and pulled
her back with such force that Kagome dropped the bag that she was
holding and gasped a little. He held her to him. She wasn't going
anywhere.
Inuyasha could feel the rise and fall of her chest, pressed
up against his, quicken and her heart beat faster. The smell increased.
"Inu..." Kagome breathed.
"Shh." Inuyasha hissed.
He stared into her dark eyes, looking for an answer. Her eyes
looked slightly frightened, slightly excited. Which was more, he
couldn't tell. He moved his face closer to hers. The smell was very
strong now, he put his hand behind her head, ran his fingers through
her hair...
"AHA!" Inuyasha said triumphantly. "Kagome, you have gum in your hair!"
