Chapter 3: Healers Anyone?

 

Kagome felt and overwhelming surge of panic erupt inside of her. What was going to happen to her now? The numbness slowly started to turn to pain, and Kagome realized that the pain from her wounds was finally coming back. Kagome's eyebrows creased as the pain intensified. It was Sango who noticed the different behavior in Kagome and stopped the fight.

 

“Are you okay?” Kagome shook her head and then flinched when she felt a spike of pain shoot in her neck. A concerned look over flooded Sango's face.

 

“What's wrong with you now Ningen,” Inuyasha sneered, obviously oblivious of Kagome's pain.

 

“Be a Gentleman and help me carry her to Kaede's,” Sango snapped angrily and Inuyasha took a slight step back.

 

“Okay, sheesh! I don't see what the big deal is anyways,” he muttered as he walked over to Kagome to pick up her up.

 

“She's obviously in pain Dummy,” she growled irritatingly. Inuyasha looked a little baffled.

 

“She is?”

 

“ARGH!!! YES YOU HANYOU!!! NOW CARRY HER TO KAEDE'S,” she practically screamed on the last word, causing Inuyasha to immediately cower and pick Kagome up. Kagome was in too much pain now to care which person who was caring her… Even if it was a guy carrying her.

 

Inuyasha mumbled something incoherent under is breathe as he started running to Kaede, Sango not too far behind. Kagome felt queasy and turmoil at the rocking movements, and tears started to form in her eyes, but she willed herself not to let them free.

 

Inuyasha all of a sudden looked at her. Kagome for a moment stared at him, and then looked away, distracted by the pain.

 

“Hey! Inuyasha! Sango! ... What's wrong? Who is that,” a guy asked outside of what looked like a hutch of some sort.

 

“No time to explain Miroku. Where is Kaede?”

 

“I am right here child,” an elderly voice spoke out and Kagome warily looked around for the source of the voice. Kagome spotted her standing in the doorway, and stared at the black eye-patch on her eye on her left eye. Ugh… I don't feel too good, she grumbled silently in her head, not expecting anyone to hear her. Kaede then frowned and quickly motioned Inuyasha to take her inside.

 

“Quickly now. I don't like the ghastly look on her face. Someone quickly get me a pail of water. Sango, go get some bandages, and I will get some herbs,” the elderly woman called Kaede ordered, and everyone bustled to do their orders.

 

“What about me,” Inuyasha complained. Kaede quickly looked at him then turned around.

 

“You can watch over the child.” And with that, she left the hut. Inuyasha grumbled.

 

“Oh great. I have to BABYSIT now.” Inuyasha sat down and glumly stared at Kagome. Kagome was breathing fast as she stared back, a dark glare slowly creeping into her eyes. This guy… Inuyasha humphed and looked to the side to avoid her glare. Kagome's mouth twitched has the pain intensified, and her vision slowly started to black out.

 

“Oh no! Quickly! Somebody cool her head down! Miroku, get a blanket and cover her,” Kaede ordered, panic evidence in her voice.

 

Kagome's breathing intensified and she noticed that Inuyasha was staring down at her worriedly now, but soon she couldn't see his face anymore. After awhile, all she saw was black silhouettes. Someone take this pain away! I can't stand it anymore, and with that last thought, Kagome's world finally blacked out as she sank into a seemingly never ending oblivion…

(Inuyasha's POV:~~~~)

 

I sat down aggravated about being assigned as the babysitter. As I stared at the girl glumly, I noticed a dark glare slowly creep into her eyes. I quickly looked away, the intensity of it discomforting. It was then I heard her change of breathing. She was breathing unusually fast, and I noticed the withdrawal in her eyes. I watched as Kaede entered the room and her look of panic.

 

“Oh no! Quickly! Somebody cool her head down! Miroku, get a blanket and cover her,” Kaede ordered, panic evidence in her voice. I suddenly felt a surge of fear for the girl too; cause it was in that moment, that she looked like death was about to come upon her. I watched as Miroku out a blanket on her, Sango cooling her down, and Kaede grinding the herbs together. I sat there frustrated with clenched fists, because I had NO idea how to help. I felt so helpless as I looked down at her. I then saw her eyes close and her mask of pain was swept away, and all I saw now was utter peace…

 

“Is she dead,” Miroku asked and Kaede sighed with relief when she checked the pulse.

 

“No she ain't. She is fine…. Just resting…. Continue cooling her down though. She still has a pretty high fever.” Again I felt helpless and useless as I watched. I want to help… but how? My frustration finally reaching its peak, I stormed out of the hut in a huff.

 

“Inuyasha! Come back,” I heard Sango yell.

 

“Leave him be,” I heard Kaede say, and with that I heard no more. I continued running until I found a good tree to sit on. As I jumped to the top, I just stared out at the full moon. I sat there contemplating the situation… I could still remember the fear the girl had on her face… no… the TERROR she had on her face as she flinched… Its not like I haven't seen that face before its just… Something didn't seem right… I growled. She didn't have to flinch though, I thought angrily and slammed my fist. My anger still ran as I continued to stare ahead…

 

(End of POV:~~~)

(Back to POV (story) :~~~)

 

She couldn't remember much, in fact her memory was fuzzy… All she could remember was the extreme pain and then blacking out. As she lay there, she heard voices whispering. She wanted to say, Who's Talking? But she couldn't speak. As she slowly opened her eyes, she immediately closed them again.

 

“Ah! You are awake.” Kagome slowly opened her eyes and stared up at Miroku and Sango. Kagome's memories then flooded in and she then remembered where she was… She sat up ubruptly, but immediately pain shot up her back and she layed back down again.

 

“Don't move just yet Dear Child. Your wounds are not yet healed,” Kaede informed wisely. Kagome eyed her for a sec and then closed her eyes.

 

“Should we let her rest more? She still seems pretty exhausted,” Sango asked softly. Kaede contemplated for a moment, and then nodded her head.

 

“That would PROBABLY be wise,” she agreed, and it was in that exact same moment that Kagome felt drowsy again.

 

I feel so… sleepy…………
