InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Sweet Lady ❯ Sweet Lady ( One-Shot )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

A/N: Part IV of the continuing Queen Challenge, A Night At The Opera. We decided on a 500-1000 word min-max for this one, 919 words here. The song chosen for my prompt was the tricky Sweet Lady with the even trickier lyric to try and work in being You call me sweet like I'm some kind of cheese. Wasn't easy, but I did it. I got to stick with my OTP on this one... which is AU, by the way; my first with this pairing! Hope you all enjoy!
Sweet Lady
Nothing on. As per usual.
Sesshoumaru flipped through the channels on the television, the remote control in one hand, a glass of white wine in the other. His personal assistant had left, the only remnants of his presence mere echoes of his grating voice. His daughter was away at a sleepover. This was his `me' time, the time alone he utilized to relax, veg out; take a break from the rat race that was work and family life… and the constant nattering of his girlfriend.
A familiar tune blasted from beside him, nearly knocking the wine glass from his hand at the surprise. Said girlfriend was calling. He picked up his mobile and flipped it open at his ear.
“Kagura,” he answered, soon realizing his tone of voice was less than loving.
“Well, you sound excited to hear from me,” the woman at the other end responded with irritation. “What are you doing?”
“Nothing, it's nothing.” He set his wine glass on the table and leaned over his lap, elbows pressing into his thighs, his free hand dangling hopelessly between his knees. “What's going on?”
“Oh, nothing here, just my asshole boss is keeping me over until I finish this stupid project,” Kagura sighed. “I don't know when I'll be home to tell you the truth. He's really being a dick about this.”
“Well, keep me posted. Call me when you're on your way.” Sesshoumaru leaned back against the plush sofa cushions, retrieving his glass from the end table and taking a sip.
“You're in an awful hurry to get me off the phone… is there somebody there?”
He rolled his eyes in silent annoyance, setting his glass aside once more. “No, Kagura, no one is here but me.”
“You dog, what have you got going on there that you can't spend a few minutes on the phone with your girlfriend?”
“You're being ridiculous. My only company is that of the television and, after that, it will be the bed, which I will share with no one but myself until you crawl in it with me.”
“Oh, how sweet. You're so cute when you squirm,” his mate giggled mockingly.
“You call me sweet like I'm some kind of cheese.” His tone of voice turned truly sour, brow furrowing beneath his dangling fringe, the same veil of silver falling back over the rest of his hair as he combed it back with rigid fingers.
Their connection cracked briefly. “Right, Mr. Gumo, I'm on it.” Her voice came distant, muffled, followed by a closer-sounding sigh. “I have to go. I'll call you when I'm done here. I love you.”
“Love you, too,” Sesshoumaru smirked. There were no more words, just the click of the phone as she hung up on her end. He flipped the mobile shut and tossed it to his side. The once crisply chilled wine felt warm between his fingers when he retrieved the glass once again. He downed the remainder of the liquid in one grimacing gulp and left the vessel which contained it on the end table, rising from his seat and shutting off the television at the set.
The wooden floorboards of the apartment creaked beneath his feet as he walked the expanse of the living room toward the hallway that led to the bedroom he shared with his girlfriend. In truth, this place was rather hollow in the quiet of the night, all by his lonesome. He brushed his teeth in the bathroom and stripped to his boxers beside the bed, slipping beneath the covers with a defeated sigh. This night had been all for naught; not a damn bit of relaxing or enjoyment to speak of. Just stress, more stress and he could have that when he woke for work. Yeah, sleep was all he had left now. He just had to hope he wouldn't have any nightmares.
The next thing he registered was the sound of the bedroom door shutting and the dip and bounce of the mattress beside him. Sesshoumaru rolled over, opening his gold eyes on bare skin. And lots of it. Kagura sat perched on her knees, her healthy bosom squished between her arms as she leaned forward on her hands.
“You missed my call,” she grinned.
“It's better this way,” he replied sleepily. He reached a lazy hand toward her arm, gripping it softly and pulling her over him. She sat astride his hips, teeth still bared in that shit-eating grin of hers. Sesshoumaru allowed his hand to slide down her body, over her luscious breasts, down her stomach, his touch finally coming to rest on her hip with a squeeze.
“Miss me?” Kagura bent, crossing her arms over his sturdy chest, chin resting on her delicately folded hands.
“A little.”
“Still mad?”
“I was never mad.”
“Oh yeah? Well, I'm mad.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. Mad about you, Sweetie-pie.” She kissed him, her tongue slipping by his in a sensuous dance. Like mouth-sex; an oral preview of things to come. When she pulled away, his head lifted from his pillow, his lips chasing hers as she smiled above him.
“Sweet lady,” he breathed, reaching for her face.
“Hm?” She took his hand, settling his palm at her cheek. My, she was never shy with that beautiful body of hers, so well displayed in this position. Maybe this would not be such a shit night after all.
“Sweet lady.” He pulled her down onto him, one hand drifting again over her delicious curves, kissing and touching and delighting. “Stay sweet.”
