'Chapter Eight - Soul That Ties'

The girl awoke from her uneasy sleep. The front of her kimono still slightly stained with old tears. She looked to the dark faces of her companions, who lay on the floor of the hut. She slowly got to her feet, tucking the hair comb into her raven locks. Her eyes half closed but still alert enough to see in the darkness. She set the elder door open, making sure not to wake the two inside. 'What am I doing…I shouldn't be out here.' She thought to herself, but her legs had other plans as they set down the dusty path. Soon to be greeted by gnarled old trees. She entered the forest the only form of light coming from the rising moon. 'What if there's demons…Where am I going…' She thought absently, making her way through the thick brush. She made it through; eyes meeting with the glorious sight of the moon kissed lake. She gasped softly at its beauty but something troubled her. It was like she had been here before, as she entered the boat, picking up the wooden stick. Placing it gently in the water to row to the opposite side. She remembered this place so well, how? She had never been here before, had she? The boat glided gently across the once calm waters. The soft wind coming across from the shore. The soft dip in the transport told her she had reached the other side. Stepping cautiously she set the stick down, making her way across the meadow. The eerie wind shifting the blades of emerald under her bare feet. Grass turned to the soft hue of pink and gold, the beauty gone form her sight as her pale eyes widened. Quickening her pace she ran to the elder tree. "Are you alright?" She asked quickly, delicate hands tugging the arrow from its place. What had this male gone through? He seemed fine enough, though a bit stiff looking. She studied his posture until his eyes slowly creaked open. There she saw the unearthly gold…

"K-Kikyo?" He muttered, eyes trying to come to focus. His hand had whipped up to grasp the wrist witch held the hand that yanked his bind free. His ears swiveling for her response but nothing but choked squeaks emitted. "Is that you?" he mumbled again, blinking away sleep.

"A…H-He's a demon…" She squeaked to herself, her heart pounding, she had just helped a demon witch would probably devour her at any moment. She could do nothing, feeling his strong grasp on her wrist. He looked so human, so gentle, but now she saw the real picture as he stood in the moonlight. The ghost white hair, the soft dog-ears, and the intense golden eyes. This was no human, but the one to kill her.

Shrieks entered the once calm night air. The soft rays on moon highlighting the beast's glossy onyx feathers. "Lord Sesshomaru!" A yelp called through as it landed upon a large foot, talons digging into the soil as it made it's way through the palace doors. A limp body was clutched in his other, the talons careful not to harm her soft ivory flesh.

"What business do you have with, master?!" The angry toad demon asked, glaring up at the beast well above his own height.

"I bring the girl he wished. Let me pass!" He shrieked, flapping his giant wings impatiently.

"…Sesshomaru-" He was cut off by a calm voice.

"…That is not her." He spoke, ice trailing from each word. The other demon's eyes darted to the dark figure. But noticing whom it was shut his glossy beak, waiting more inspection.

"Ivory skin, raven hair, kimono…I have tried to bring her. She was traveling with a monk." He explained, tossing the rag doll to his feet.

"It is not her, however I have seen her with the girl I ask." He thought this over, golden gaze looking to the limp girl's face. "I believe this is a friend of hers."

"I did well, master?" He asked, hopeful.

"You didn't bring the right girl! Of course you didn't-" Once again the faithful toad was cut off by his master.

"She could be of use to me…To bring in the girl I want." He mumbled, thinking this over. He bent down and scooped the girl in his arms briefly before tossing her back to the bird demon.

"Master?" He blinked, catching her expertly in a foot.

"Bring her to the dungeons, set her in clothes fit for a slave." He replied coldly. "Do what you wish to her, just do not kill her…Not until her task is completed."

"Of course…" He bowed, grinning to himself as he swooped passed Jaken and to the under ground storage of humans.

"Lord Sesshomaru?! What are you planning?! What girl did you want?" He asked dumbly, running to catch up with the ahead demon.

"It isn't for you to know." He spat, keeping pace to his palace to giving a glance behind to his follower.

A/N:

'nother chappie! Hey, sorry for any OOCness in any chapter previous or in the future. Sorry for grammar/spelling errors, I'm not the greatest in that arena. -Sweatdrop- but, I try. Now, again for such kind reviews I thank you! Please R&R as always… And this chapter is completed, I just was thinking of going back and making it longer later, to add a few more points so the beginning doesn't seem so awkward. What do you think? Anyhow, sorry for shortness, the next chapter will make up for loose ends and length. Byez.
