A/N -If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for the fic, let me know, I'd love to hear them!

Kagome woke up late on Monday morning. And not a few minutes late, but late as in, school has already started.

"OH CRAP!" She yelled as she leapt out of bed. She ran around her room looking for some clothes to wear, all the while yelling for her mother. "Mom! Why didn't you wake me? I have a test today!"

After quickly throwing on a long lavender skirt with a matching tank top, she raced downstairs to see the kitchen empty. On the table was a note.

~Kagome-Grandpa and I took Souta to his dentist appointment before you woke up. Good luck on your test! Love-Mom~

Kagome moaned and grabbed an apple. Hopefully this'll hold me over till lunch. She thought desperately as she ran out to her car. Praying to God that no cops were out, she drove top speed to her school. She made it there in minutes and ran up to the school entrance. Stopping at the school office she panted, "I… woke up… late!"

The woman at the desk just shook her head and wrote her a pass. Saying a quick thanks, Kagome walked quickly down to her classroom. She opened the door and walked over to the teacher. She handed him the note and walked over to Rin and Inu Yasha, who miraculously wasn't asleep. Taking her seat in between them she took a steadying breath, thanking her lucky stars that Nobunaga was still explaining the test to them, and it hadn't yet started. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Rin pull out her multi-colored notebook. After writing something down quickly, she passed it to her.

~Hey Kagome - Thought you weren't going to make it! Everything OK?-Rin~

Kagome pulled out her pen and wrote back.

~Rin-Slept through my alarm clock, and my mother left early so she didn't come to make sure I was awake. At least I'm in time for the test, I'd hate to have to make it up.-Kagome~

Before she could pass it back to Rin, Inu Yasha grabbed the notebook. He read it over quickly, and then let out a small sigh. He took Kagome's pen and wrote the following:

~Kag-dont ever b late again! i thot u were late cuz of that basterd kouga!-yash~

He threw the notebook at her and turned away, scowling. Kagome read the note and, although it wasn't the sweetest thing in the world, she felt her heart warm. In his own, mean, twisted way, he cared. Rin took the notebook from her to read what was written and she giggled. But before she had a chance to write anything else, Nobunaga began passing out the test.

Kagome, Rin, and Inu Yasha picked up their belongings when the bell rang.

"I don't know why Nobunaga made us study so hard, that was a cinch!" Rin said as they walked out of the classroom. Kagome nodded her head vigorously. Rin was about to say something else, but just then Sess walked up and wrapped his arms around her, nuzzling her neck.

Kagome ran up to Inu Yasha, who had wandered away when they were in the hall, and grabbed his arm. He looked down at her with a confused look on his face.

"Were you worried about me?" Kagome asked sweetly.

Inu Yasha replied with a "Feh!"

But Kagome giggled and said, "Thought so!" Then, taking a bold step, she stood on her tippie-toes and kissed his cheek. Without a backwards glance, she walked to her next class, leaving a shocked Inu Yasha.

Oh man, I hope he's not mad that I did that! Kagome thought to herself, blushing. She spent the entire next period fretting about his reaction, and had an apology prepared for when she saw him at lunch.

When lunch rolled around, she walked with Sango and Rin, hardly hearing their conversation. Just apologize, that's it! It'll be okay once you apologize! The three girls walked over to their usual table where Sess and Miroku were already sitting. Miroku winked suggestively at Sango, who pretended she hadn't noticed, but her blush proved otherwise.

Kagome was looking around the room, trying to spot Inu Yasha. Suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder, and saw Inu Yasha standing behind her. He took the seat next to her, and before Kagome could open her mouth to apologize, he gently grasped her chin and directed her lips towards his, capturing them in a quick, gentle kiss that sent butterflies in her stomach. He smirked at the look on her face and said, "I'll pick you up on Saturday at 3:00. Sound good?" Kagome swallowed and nodded her head slowly.

Rin giggled and Sango rolled her eyes looking away, only to catch Miroku's eye, who grinned playfully at her.

Sango took a deep breath and stood up. "I've got to go to the library." She grabbed her purse and walked away, completely unaware of the longing look that Miroku was giving her. After just a few seconds, he stood up as well, said, "See ya!" and took off after her.

Sango walked down the rows of books, looking for a specific one. She saw it a few shelves above her head, and was about to grab it when someone behind her snatched it right out from under her hand. She turned around, fully prepared to tell them off, when she found herself face to face with Miroku.

He handed her the book and said, "You sure left lunch in a hurry."

Sango looked up into his eyes and said, "Research. I wanted to get a good start on it."

"Huh." Miroku said, moving slightly closer to her body. He looked down seductively at her, his hands against the shelf on either side of her head.

Sango's heart was beating awfully fast as she looked up at Miroku. What was he doing?

"Sango… Are you busy Friday night?" Miroku asked her, watching her lips.

Sango licked her lips, oblivious to the way Miroku's eyes widened with lust when she did that. "No." She whispered.

"Good. Can I pick you up at 6:00 for dinner?" He asked her, moving slightly closer to her.

Sango nodded her head, unsure if she would have been able to say anything intelligible at the moment.

Miroku grinned and brought his lips a centimeter away from hers. Sango nearly whimpered when she felt his hot breath caress her lips. "Okay. See you then." He whispered huskily, before straightening up and walking away, leaving a confused and breathless Sango. What the HELL? Sango thought, outraged. Not knowing what else to do, she turned around and stormed away, trying to contemplate what just happened.

Miroku couldn't stop the smile playing on his lips. The date was set! He had really wanted to kiss her back there, but he didn't want their first kiss to be in the school library. He wanted it to be somewhere special.

When the final bell rang at the end of the day, Kagome happily ran out to her car and drove home, all smiles. She kissed her mother and grandfather each on the cheek. When she tried kissing Souta he yelled and pulled away, calling her a weirdo. But nothing could dampen Kagome's mood. Inu Yasha kissed her, and she was going out with him on Saturday! She could hardly believe it.

The rest of the week passed dreadfully slow for the six teens, and Kagome anxiously waited for Saturday. She already had her outfit picked out, deciding on a short gray skirt, black go-go boots, and a white blouse with three-quarter-length sleeves.

Friday, when she came home from school, Kagome had to endure Souta's happy babble about his sleepover. Shippo had come home from school with him, but Kohaku would be getting a ride over from his sister later.

Souta and Shippo were playing in the backyard when the doorbell rang, so Kagome was the one to answer the door. Kohaku was standing there shyly next to Sango. Kagome gave her a surprised look, which Sango matched.

"Hey Sango, what are you doing here?" Kagome asked, since nothing else came to mind.

Sango motioned to her little brother and said, "I'm dropping Kohaku off. You're Souta's older sister?"

Kagome nodded and the girls laughed, feeling stupid that they had been friends without even know that their little brothers were friends, too.

Turning to Kohaku, Kagome said, "They're in the backyard if you want to go find them. Just walk through the kitchen till you find a glass door."

Kohaku nodded and walked inside.

"Want to come in?" Kagome asked Sango, stepping aside.

Sango walked into the house and stated, "Sure, but just for a bit. I've got to get ready."

Kagome grinned. "For your date with Miroku."

Sango looked down, wearing a small smile.

"Do you know where you're going?" Kagome asked her.

Sango looked up and shook her head. "He said it's a surprise, but to dress nice."

Kagome giggled and clapped her hands together. "I'm so excited for you guys!"

Sango just stared at her, and then began laughing. When Kagome gave her a confused look she said, "I'm sorry, you just looked so much like Rin just now!"

Kagome giggled slightly and shook her head.

Sango controlled her laughter and said, "Sorry. I'm guess I'm just nervous." Looking at her watch she announced, "Well, I should get back. Tell Kohaku that I left."

Kagome nodded and said bye to her friend. She walked to the backyard where she found the three boys playing some kind of game.

"Kohaku, Sango wanted me to tell you she left!"

Kohaku looked at her and nodded, and the boys resumed their game.

Sango drove to her house, trying to calm her nerves by singing along with Greenday. When she reached her house she walked straight up to her room to take a shower. When she was done, she looked through her closet for something to wear. She finally decided on a black knee-length dress. It had one slit in front of her left thigh, and three straps twisted together over each shoulder. A diamond shaped cutout was over her breasts, showing off a decent amount of cleavage. After applying a small amount of make-up, she fished some fancy shoes out of her closet. They were black like the dress, and had five inch heels and an open toe. Two straps on each shoe wrapped around her legs, going up a little lower than mid-calf. (A/N - If none of that makes any sense, I'm sorry! I'm munching on candy right now, and the sugar is making me jittery, so it's hard for me to type and make sense)

At six o'clock exactly, the doorbell rang. Sango carefully made her way downstairs and opened the door to see Miroku holding some flowers. He was wearing black dress pants and a very dark-violet dress shirt. They both looked at each other for a moment, taking in the others appearance. Wow, he looks good. Sango thought as she smiled at him. She's gorgeous! Miroku could only stare, until Sango cleared her throat slightly.

Miroku snapped out of it and held the lilies out to her. "These are for you." He stated.

Sango smiled and took the flowers. "Oh Miroku, they're beautiful. Come on in, I'll be just a minute. I need to put them in some water." Miroku entered her house, still watching her. When she began walking into the kitchen to take care of the flowers, it took all of his restraint not to reach out and grope her. No! You can't! She'll never go out with you again if you do!

When Sango finished with the flowers, she walked back over to Miroku and said, "Ready?"

Miroku nodded dumbly and held the door open for her. As they walked down to where his car was parked, she asked, "So, where are we going?"

Miroku grinned and held open the door to his black Firebird. "It's a surprise."

Sango rolled her eyes and sat down in the car. Miroku drove them all the way across town to a very fancy Italian restaurant. "I hope you like Italian." He said sheepishly.

Sango smiled at him and replied, "I love it."

They got out of the car and began walking to the restaurant. Once inside, the Maitre'd (A/N - I hope that's right!) seated them at a very romantic table in the corner. He smiled at the young couple and waked away. Sango looked around the restaurant, taking in the exquisite atmosphere. Everything seemed to fancy and high-class, that she felt a little out of place.

Miroku reached cross the table and grabbed her hand gently in his. "I haven't told you this yet, Sango, but you look beautiful."

Sango flushed and looked down. "You don't look so bad yourself." She replied, grinning.

Miroku winked and straightened up, brushing some imaginary dust off of his sleeve. "Well, I do try."

The waiter arrived just then, and said, "Hi, my name is Hiten, and I'll be your waiter this evening. Can I start you off with any appetizers or drinks while you look over your menu?"

Miroku and Sango each ordered their drinks, and Hiten grinned and checked Sango out before he left. Miroku nearly jumped up and strangled the guy. What's wrong with him? I'm taking her out, and he has the nerve to do that?

Sango, oblivious to Hiten, looked over her menu. "I've always liked Fettuccini Alfredo. What about you, Miroku?"

Miroku quickly picked up the menu and looked it over. "I don't know, the spaghetti and meatballs sounds good."

Sango laughed. "Okay then."

When Hiten came back a little while later to take their orders, Sango ordered the Fettuccini Alfredo, while Miroku decided on Pesto. Taking the menus from them, Hiten winked at Sango. She stared up at him and then rolled her eyes.

When he walked away she said, "This place is beautiful, Miroku."

Miroku swelled in pride and said, "Ah, but the night doesn't end here." When Sango gave him a curious look he just shook his head and said in a singsong voice, "It's a surprise."

Dinner went off without a hitch. The conversation was comfortable between the two, and Miroku could tell that Sango was really enjoying herself. Hiten came back to offer them desert, but Miroku shook his head and told Sango, "Desert is somewhere else."

Sango looked at him closely, wondering if that was a perverted statement on not. Deciding that it wasn't, she smiled at him and said, "I can't wait."

Hiten looked disappointed, and Miroku couldn't help but smirk at him. That's right, buddy. I'm with the babe, not you!

When they walked out of the restaurant, Miroku slid his arm around Sango's waist, and could feel Hiten glaring at him. Laughing to himself he tightened his hold on Sango and they walked over to his car.

From the restaurant, Miroku drive them to a tiny chocolate shop. He told Sango to wait in the car while he ran inside and purchased something. Sango glanced at the little baggie he was holding when he sat back down in the car, but Miroku said nothing and continued driving.

He finally stopped at the beach. Once again he had Sango wait in the car as he grabbed some stuff from the backseat. Sango waited about five minutes when she began wondering where Miroku was. Suddenly her cell phone rang. It was Miroku.

"Hello?" She answered, wondering what he was doing.

"Ready for the rest of your surprise?" Miroku asked her.

Sango smiled. "Sure."

"Come down to the water. You'll see me." And with that, he hung up.

Sango looked at her phone for a moment before stepping out of the car and walking in the same direction that Miroku had walked earlier. She took off her shoes before stepping on the sand, and held them in one had as she walked. Suddenly, she saw Miroku down near the water. When she got closer, she saw that he was standing next to a blanket he had laid out, with four candles at each corner. In the middle of the blanket was a silver platter with the chocolate that he bought earlier on it.

Sango smiled when she got closer and said, "You really went all out."

Miroku grinned. "Can you blame me? I'm taking the most gorgeous girl I've ever seen out, so naturally, I want to impress her." Miroku lowered his head and looked in her eyes. "Are you impressed?"

Sango bit her lip and nodded. "Very."

Grinning, Miroku took her hand and the two of them stepped onto the blanket. They sat next to each other, the platter in front of them, and Miroku said, "Rin said that you loved chocolate."

Sango grinned and nodded her head.

Miroku picked up a piece and said, "Some have different kinds of cream in them. I forget which is which, though."

Sango looked at the piece in his hand and her eyes widened as he brought it to her lips. Her heart fluttering, she slowly opened her mouth, letting him slide the chocolate inside. They kept eye contact as she chewed the candy, finally stating, "Caramel."

Miroku smiled seductively at her and was about to pick up another when she beat him to it.

Disbelieving her own daring, Sango brought a piece of chocolate up to his mouth. He opened his mouth, allowing the chocolate and a bit of her finger to slide into its depths. He gently sucked on her finger before she slid it out of his mouth, face flushed, but still keeping eye contact. Miroku ate the piece of chocolate and said, "Nougat."

Miroku reached over, picking up another chocolate and held it up to her mouth again. Sango opened her mouth willingly, and he slipped the chocolate in, sliding his finger over her bottom lip while doing so.

Sango chewed the piece, her face scrunched up in concentration. "Butter-cream?" She asked, unsure.

Miroku looked at her curiously. "You don't know?"

Sango licked her lips, "I can't tell."

Leaning closer, Miroku said, "Well maybe I'll be able to."

Sango's eyes widened in surprise, but she didn't protest when he brought his face closer to hers. Miroku searched her face, looking for any sign of rejection. Finding none, he slowly lowered his lips to hers, kissing her gently. Sango kissed him back, and gasped when she felt his tongue on her lips. Instead of plunging right in, Miroku sensually licked her lips, ever so slowly entering her mouth. He softly caressed her tongue with his own, tasting the chocolate inside her mouth. Sango clung to Miroku, wrapping one arm around his neck and placed her other hand against his hard chest. Miroku wrapped his arms around Sango's waist pulling her closer to him. When they pulled back, they were both breathless.

Miroku panted out against her lips, "Yep, definitely butter-cream."

Sango giggled and said, "Well, if you're sure…" and began pulling away.

Miroku tightened his grip on her and said, "Actually, you know, maybe one more taste will convince me one hundred percent."

Grinning, Sango brought her face close to his, their lips touching once again.

Driving Sango home, Miroku couldn't stop smiling. This was by far, the best date he'd ever been on.

Sango looked out the window as they drove, thinking along the same lines. Who knew that Miroku could be so romantic?

Miroku pulled the car to a stop in front of Sango's house and turned to her.

"I had a really nice time." Sango told him shyly.

Miroku grinned and asked, "So, does that mean you'll be my girlfriend?"

Sango pretended to think long and hard and then said, "I don't see why not."

Miroku's smile brightened and he leaned in to capture her lips in another kiss.

When they broke apart, Sango smiled at him. "Good night."

"'Night." He whispered.

He watched Sango get out of the car and walk up to her front door. Grinning from ear to eat, Miroku drive home to tell Mushin the great news.
