InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Takara, The Seductive Demon Assassin ❯ Kagome's Dream ( Chapter 1 )
The girls soft feet glided gently across the smooth surface of the wood floor, making hardly a sound, yet her presence in this room would not go unnoticed for long. Her ebony eyes surveyed the mass of humans assembled haphazardly across the floor in various states of fitful sleep. HE was not there. Her red lips pouted dejectedly as she crossed her arms in deep reflection. How long would it take for their paths to cross? How many places must she search in the cover of night before she finally saw him? The one she'd been after for so long? The one who held the key to her eternal happiness? There were no other demons here, only dirty warriors resting their beaten shells messily on the ground of this dirty hut. She wrinkled her nose in disgust and turned to leave, spinning around gracefully toward the door she had just entered. As she turned, the sweeping fabric of her silk white kimono lightly touched the cheek of one of the sleeping villagers and he snorted violently and stirred in his sleep. She stopped abruptly as the man took hold of the soft garment, holding it in his fingers like a long lost security blanket. She stood in the doorway, rigid and ice cold, the revulsion creeping slowly over her face.
"How dare you," she whispered, her lip quivering gently with rage, "You filthy idiot!" Her eyes flashed a crimson red and with one fluent motion, she severed the man's head. The head rolled violently toward the center of the room, its eyes still closed in a never- ending sleep. The man's comrades awoke, startled, from their sleep as she descended upon them, her kimono billowing softly behind her.
Many miles away, in the house of a rich lord, Kagome awoke with a start. Sweat covered her entire body like cold morning dew. She took in a labored breath and brought her hand to her head. What a nightmare! She hadn't had a dream quite like that in ages. So brutal and vivid…. She took a deep breath and slowly rose to her feet. "It was only a dream," she told herself, "I'm here. I'm safe". Or she was, at least, as safe as she could be at the moment. She was never very far from danger, yet she was rarely afraid. She gazed around the room, unable to stop from chuckling. Ah, how she had grown to love her friends! Even lecherous Miroku looked so innocent and pure in his sleep, despite the fact that he was curled up only inches from Sango, a position he most surely would have taken advantage of had he been awake. She pulled the blankets gently over Shippo, who had been sleeping beside her and kissed him gently on his cheek. She noticed Inuyasha was no longer resting in his guard position in front of the door and figured he must have gotten restless and decided to go for a walk outside in the garden. Kagome slowly opened the door and emerged into the inner courtyard of the mansion. The fishpond bubbled soothingly, reflecting the moonlight on the orange spotted water.
"They don't make gardens quite like this anymore", she thought to herself, and walked toward the stone bench to force the remaining glimpses of her dream out of her head. She caught sight of Inuyasha's red clad leg swaying gently out of a tree branch and smiled. Her heart filled with love for him. Maybe he wasn't the most sensitive or romantic guy in the world….or even in Japan for that matter, but something about him was so endearing. Even when she felt he was being difficult or immature, she could never seem to get him out of her head. Besides, he had his moments. It seemed as time went on, she received more and more glimpses of his sweet side and she lived for those moments.
"What are you looking at?" She jumped, thrown out of her deep thought. The half demon leapt down from the tree until he stood at her side.
"Oh nothing". She smiled, "I just had a bad dream. It's silly. You would think I would be used to all this by now." She looked up at his smooth features and wondered if this conversation could somehow evolve into one of those sweet moments. In the beginning, she hadn't felt this way towards him. They began as two people who barely tolerated each other's company. Slowly, it had evolved into a trusting friendship and now… "Oh, Inuyasha", Kagome thought, "Why can't you love me as you once loved Kikyo?"
"Why do you keep looking at me like that?" Inuyasha demanded.
"Like what?" Kagome smiled sweetly.
"Like that!" He frowned. She didn't seem like herself.
"I was just thinking….about how happy I am here….despite everything! I wouldn't change a thing!" Kagome sat on the bench and peered at his face in the soft moonlight. "Well, maybe a few things."
There were times when Kagome desperately wished things were slightly different. Not entirely different, just slightly. Like, wouldn't it be nice if Naraku was finally dead, the jewel was reassembled, and a certain dead priestess was out of the picture? It wouldn't hurt either if Inuyasha paid a little attention to her once in awhile. Lately, she had been trying her best to lay on her "feminine charms", something she wasn't exactly sure how to do. This mostly involved things such as dropping items on the floor and picking them up "seductively", or slowly inching towards him in the middle of the night. It was a losing battle. Of course, the only one who really ever noticed these things was Miroku, so she eventually just kept her feelings to herself. Inuyasha's face grew serious for a moment as he studied her eyes.
"You know I would never let anything happen to you, Kagome." She blushed lightly, then covered her face with her hands so he wouldn't notice.
He patted her on the shoulder. "Without your help, it would take forever to find the jewel shards".
Yes, she thought, there were a few things she would like to change…
WRITER'S NOTE: This is my first attempt at writing fan fiction, so any feedback would be helpful. I started writing this piece as an attempt to get over my writer's block, so I hope my crippling impairment will be entertaining to everyone. This will be a continuing work, and I have almost the entire story worked out in my head, although I am open to the characters just being themselves and taking the story any which way they wish. Let me just say this: I apologize for the slow start. As I've said, this is my first shot at fan fiction and I thought it was important to "test the waters" a bit. The upcoming chapters will contain an escalating amount of sex and violence, while (hopefully) keeping a good plotline intact. And if my plot falls apart, I promise there will at least be some good sex! And I should warn you, the story is definitely going to get dark, so if that's not your thing, stop now. I will post Chapter Two ASAP. Thanks
