InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Taking Her ❯ Royalty ( Chapter 2 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Trying his best not to laugh he watched Kagome from his seat at the entrance of the cave. She lied on her side, holding her stomach, glaring at the amused hanyou. He told her not to eat so fast, and she knew it. He warned her and she didn't care, but now she did. It wouldn't be so bad if Inu Yasha would stop smiling at her.
“Who are you anyway?” Kagome wined out.
Inu Yasha just starred at her. Where did that come from? “Me? Pff, no one to be touchy with.”
Kagome smiled. “You mean you are like the big bad wolf? No one could beat you, and everybody fears you?”
Inu Yasha looked out of the cave, longingly. “That's right” he sighed. Suddenly he felt the warm body of kagome wiggle her way into his lap. He looked down a little nervous at her while she looked up at him, admirably. She wasn't stupid. She knew that he was harmless, and that no one accepted him.
Placing her head on his chest she smuggled as far into the warmth as she could. “Now that can't be true, if it were I wouldn't like you so much.” She whispered, as she nodded off for the night.
Inu Yasha just stared at her for a moment longer before making his way deeper into the cave with her. Taking a seat on the bed he held her there. This girl wasn't afraid, and liked him. She said that didn't she…she liked him, but what kind of like. Was it a like where you are friend? Or was it the tolerable kind of like? Wait was about that like like…like love like?
He blushed at the thought, but relaxed into it. He liked the idea of her being his mate, but it was too soon. He'd seen the way humans worked, they could be together for years before they married, or even mated. IT was so simple with demons, they just knew. Humans have to sort out emotions, and make sure they can live with the other, and so on. Irritating. Now he has to wait to see whether or not kagome really wanted him.
Inu Yasha's ears flattened out on his head. He looked down at her longingly once again. He knew she was human, and that humans could never accept him. There was no hope for them, be he could get away with holding her, just for tonight.
Taking a deep breath, as he leaned against the wall he looked toward the entrance of the cave. He was too distracted to notice it before, but a human army was camping a good 12 miles from here. There's only small villages around here. Why would they come?
He knew the sun set not more than an hour before hand, so it was still early. He had time to investigate. Gently placing the princess down, he blocked off the entrance to the cave with branches and rocks. Turning toward the north, he took of running. It would take him 5 minutes to get there, at the most.

Miroku sat at the fire, in the middle of camp, sipping his wine occasionally. He had let her down. He let her get taken by bandits. What kind of a soldier was he, couldn't even protect a single girl, might as well just go back to the life of a simple monk. He did more good in his former life as a monk then he's doing now. She could be dead for all he knew.
“General?” Said a man behind him.
Turning to look he smiled at the boy. Shippo was a small fox demon child, that no one like, but him. That wasn't necessarily true. Miroku's small band of men were just to all creatures, demon or human. They had no problem with demons and knew that some were just alone, or mistreated. It was a good band of men, about twenty in all, and strong, but the king forced the ex-monk to take along another hundred men from his army. If anything taking on an extra amount of men would make it harder to find the missing princess. Any stupid person would hear them from a mile away.
“Yes shippo.” Miroku replied.
“The princess is alive and in good hands.” Shippo smiled as he walked toward the general. Sitting down next to him he put his small hands out to the fire.
Miroku just starred at him. The princess alive? Safe? “Where is she?”
Shippo looked up at him and smiled. “You know how I've been gone since this morning?”
Miroku nodded.
“I knew that I was in the territory of Inu Yasha”
“dog demon?” Miroku looked at him funny. (Inu Yasha means `dog demon' is Japanese) “Or is that really his name?”
“Just his name.” Looking back at the fire. “He is the son of Inu Taishu, the great dog demon of the west”
“You mean the father of Lord Sesshomaru?” Miroku smiled. “I didn't know he had a second son.”
Shippo smiled once again. “No on really knows. Sesshomaru does and older demons do, but no one ever made the connection. Only dog demons with royal blood have the silver hair and gold eyes. Not very many humans know that.”
Rubbing his temples Miroku sighed. “So what does this Inu Yasha have to do with kagome?”
Shippo looked sad. He cried every day since she was taken. She took care of him; loved him; was even the one that found him. “Inu Yasha has her”
Miroku tensed. “Is he hostle?”
Shippo laughed. “Nope, he is a half demon, meaning he has human blood, He can't help but feel sorry for the week human. Not to mention the fact that he has his father's blood as well”
“That's right” Miroku was deep in thought. “The mighty Inu Taishu, the strongest demon to ever live, single handedly brought peace to all of Japan.” He looked down at shippo.
“He fought in wars most of his life, so the human could live happily without loss. Wish I could have met him”
Miroku laughed. “About three hundred years too late for that. So what are we waiting for, lets go get her.”
“Let her be, she's happy right now. We can get up early and retrieve her ourselves.” He sighed. “It will take a great deal of per swaying to get her to come back.”
Little did they know, but a certain dog demon was searching threw Miroku's quarters, trying to find a clue as to why they were there. Coming along a chest of woman's clothing he stopped and starred. This guy was sick. Why would he have woman's clothing?

Waking up, kagome stretched out. Her body was still sore but almost as good as new. Standing, she saw a large chest sitting next to he bed that looked oddly familiar. Opening it up she gasped. This chest was hers, and the clothing inside it was as well. They were close. Her father sent soldiers to kill the bandits and take her back, she couldn't let them hurt...wait what was his name. She never asked. Running from the cave she looked around, the sun had just started to rise. There was no one. Running back inside she stopped when she noticed it.
Holding her nose she made a face of disgust. Did she really smell that bad? Looking at the trunk she smiled. She got it now. It was his way of nicely telling her that she smelled and needed a bath. Grabbing a bathing robe from the chest she made her way into the river.
Sitting on her chosen rock she thought about what her next move was. One of the generals had his army out here looking for her and would kill anything to get her back. Ordered by her father non-the less. Her father was a real monster. He was a loving father but a terrible ruler. The only comfort that she got out of marrying was that he would no longer have the thrown, but if he chose whom she'd marry then there was no hope for the kingdom. The only thing she could do was to find her own guy and have him impregnate her. NO mater how much a man wanted the thrown is would be dishonorable to marry that which has been tainted. The only problem would be that she would have to find a man. This man would have to see demons and humans as equals and allow them to have rights in the kingdom, and not fear the neighboring ruler, Lord Sesshomaru. A king that fears another kind would be week. Sesshomaru would never attack unless needed but having him as an enemy was dangerous.
She would have to have a conference with him and discuss her situation; they've never spoken, but would that matter? Maybe he could help her find suitors in his kingdom. If she married from his kingdom then they could form an alliance; but would he? He sees humans as week and a waste of his time, but he is responsible respectable ruler. Although he has no respect for humans he still makes sure that those who inhabit his kingdom are well taken care of.
Even if he had no suitors, then she would still ask him for advice.
But what about the demon who saved her? She sighed at the thought. She loved him, and knew it very well. That man was what she always didn't know she wanted. Who knew she would think a dog-man was sexy? He was kind, and loving.
Sitting straight up she smiled. That's it! She would ask Lord Sesshomaru if marrying this demon would encourage him to form an alliance, or even a peace treaty, but what if he said no? If she married another it would destroy her, but it would be for the best of her kingdom. Was the demon that saved her even kind to others or just her? No we was gently and loving.
Becoming angry she splashed the water on herself the last time and stomping into the cave to change. That's it, if she were to marry it would be out of love, not duty. She would marry Inu Yasha, and that's it. Lord Sesshomaru would have to see her and agree to make peace with her and her kingdom.
Grabbing a plane blue summer kimono, she slipped it on and tied the bow in the back. Looking down at herself she sighed in irritation. Wearing a dress would do nothing for her out here in the forests, but get in the way. She would need to find some sort of pants suit at the next village. Trading her elegant dresses would be more than enough to get pants and a shirt, and a little money to spare.
“Kagome” a small voice sounded behind her. She knew exactly who it was.
Turning around she smiled. “Shippo!” Opening her arms he leaped at her. “I missed you so much” Kagome squeezed him tightly.
“Lady Kagome” Miroku walked into the cave and bowed.
“Miroku knock it off” she smiled. “So father sent you? That's a relief”
“Indeed” she smiled while straightened himself. “We must leave and return lady kagome”
Kagome frowned. “I can't, not yet”
Miroku sighed, shippo told him it would be hard, but he wasn't sure how hard. Sitting down next to her he placed his monk staff in his lap. “Why not lady kagome?”
Kagome smiled. He was always good at listening. “I have decided who I will marry and must speak with Lord Sesshomaru before I return home.”
Miroku stared at her, strangely, while shippo just smiled. He always wanted to meat Sesshomaru, and now that Inu Yasha was close by, he would meat him too. This was so cool.
Kagome giggled. “I want to marry somebody that will help form an alliance with his kingdom. I do not want to marry a demon hating tyrant that we all know my father will choose.”
“Um, lady kagome” Miroku scratched his head. “You do realize that the king must give permission for you to marry.”
“No he doesn't, and besides, he can't say much if I am with child”
Both Miroku and shippo's eyes reached the sides of saucers, as they both fell to the ground in shock.
