InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Taming the unruly ❯ Chapter 23 ( Chapter 24 )
Silver hair fluttered angrily in the wind as the daiyôkai raced through the skies. Useless. His lead had been useless. All that he encountered were lesser demons sent by Naraku, another ploy no doubt by the cowardly half breed. His teeth grit in frustration. Never had he met a demon who knew how to cower and hide such like that mut. Finding him would be a challenge, but it would happen eventually; and when he did it would be a slow, painful death. For now, however, his minions have been depleted, if only by a small margin. With mokomoko flowing gracefully beneath him, he increased his speed, the urge to be with his mate increasing as time went on.
The castle was in an uproar when Sesshômaru landed, soldiers decked in armour and weaponry marching into a lined formation. He stopped Mayumi who had changed back into her commander’s uniform. Had his presence just gone unnoticed? “Sesshômaru-sama,” she gasped stopping everyone in their tracks who instantly bowed to him. “What is the meaning of this?” he growled, annoyed by his subordinates' lack of respect to his person. Mayumi hesitated, eyes never daring to look at him. Immense fear and anxiety clung to her scent. She was also ashamed, but for what? “We cannot find Lady Anastasia,” she said, loud enough to be deafening but soft enough to be questionable. He released his grip on her, his focus drifting for but a moment. It took a few seconds for him to regain his composure. He must have heard wrong. “Excuse me?”
“You heard her right my child.” He turned towards his mother, her elegant form walking gracefully towards him. She had also given up her normal wear for a warriors outfit, fitted to be both elegant but also efficient in battle. “No, it wasn’t an enemy's attack," she answered before he could ask. When she saw the confused look in his eyes she continued, "It seems as if our little Ojô-sama has been busy." His brow raised in question. "Early this morning when the servants went to check on your mate she was gone. At first we thought she simply found a way to wander off on her own, which wouldn't have been a surprise. The girl hates to be in one place for too long."
She was rambling, he knew she was but he also knew if he interrupted her he'd be knocked into the next century. So respectful he stopped her continued ramble of the guards searching for Ana and so on with a raised hand. She understood the gesture. "A few hours ago Ah-Un returned with a nasty gash on his side." There was a momentary pause. The pieces of this somewhat elaborate tale quickly taking form. "My simple guess is your mate took matters into her own hands and got herself in trouble."
Everyone around him, except his mother fell to their knees as his aura flared. " Sesshômaru." His mother warned as he tried to contain his anger. He was going to teach his unruly mate a thing or two about trust and patience. She blatantly disrespected his wishes! "Sesshômaru." The loud growl of his name forced his aura back into containment. "You may deal with her as you must but before you do we must find her and also think about why she did it."
"She had no right to," he snapped. "You do forget she is human and humans like to figure things out themselves," she replied calmly. He heard what she said but with all the buzzing in his mind and the tense anger steaming just under his skin, the only thing he could do was walk away. He needed to think. Acting irrationally would only lead to chaos, if his past mistakes weren't lessons enough. His mother had already assembled a small army. Good. He could take a unit and find his mate. Also good. Whomever had the audacity to touch his mate will be put to death. After, he could also use them to find Naraku. Their help would be sufficient in getting the rid of those low minions of Naraku. While they did so he could head straight to the mut himself.
His walk took him to the barn where two doctors worked on repairing his dragon’s wound. Ignoring them he walked to their heads, gently patting the unconscious animal. "Foolish, " he whispered softly. He knew why they did it. They cared for Ana just as much as they did Rin and would do anything for either of them. "Foolish," he repeated as a small twinge of sadness tempered his growing anger. That, however, didn't last long when he got a look at the wound marks. Their gagged edges were so familiar, and that smell...
Every fiber of his being flared as the tense anger he had been trying to contain broke free. The bright colors of the day casted red, the wooden structure of the barn rattling uncontrollably. Then all he heard was the wind.
ooOoo
Her body hit the floor as the intensity of her sons aura struck the very core of her being. Its heaviness stealing her breath away leaving nothing but fear. It came without notice and was gone in a flash. Shit! He must have gone to the barn. It only took a moment for her to regain her composure, the feel of how truly terrifying her son’s aura could be still coursing through her veins. It, however, was not shown as she shouted commands to the soldiers she had rallied earlier for the strategic plan on finding Anastasia. Now things were going to be different. “Mitsuki-sama,” Mayumi called as she ran towards her. “We stick to the plan, however, me and my troops will go after my son.”
“But-”
“I will not repeat myself. You have your orders.” Mayumi did as she was told, relaying the information to the other commanders. It was simple. There were four commanders in total including herself and Mayumi. The plan, each troop would scout a section of Japan in search of Ana. It was even more simple earlier, have Mayumi and a few soldiers go to Edo to retrieve Ana. The girl may have been impatient and clever but she knew where she was headed. Things got complicated when Ah-Un returned, blood dripping from their side with no Ana on their back. This could only mean one thing, Ana had been taken. To where? No one knew. The best option, deploy troops to find her. Of course Sesshômaru would have been with her in the search, but from what just happened she had a good clue as to who hurt the two headed dragon….Naraku, or one of his minions. The thought alone riled her anger. Once again that lowly half breed had somehow gotten his hands on the one thing that was forbidden, her sons mate. He would pay.
With just a quick flick of her wrist her troops were mobile as her demonic form took to the skies, she needed to find her son and fast. The last time something like this happened he had expounded so much of his energy that he almost died. Damn it! Why had the world been so cruel. Were the two never meant to be? Were they bound to have a fate similar to her late mate’s? She would not let that happen. She would rather die than see her son fall like his father did. It may have been noble but it was also foolish.
It didn’t take long for her to find him by scent, and it was obvious he wasn’t hiding. His massive body stood still in the distance, his head lowered to someone who smelt familiar. She took a breath in, savouring the taste on her tongue, its nostalgia mixed in with that of a humans. Was that who she thought it was? The little, red cladded figure jumped back as Sesshômaru swiped at him, dogging once more as he lunged towards him. Not too far a wayward band of humans, a little demon fox and a demon cat scattered, looking for safety. As they got closer one of the humans signaled to the little half demon throwing his concentration off for but a moment, just enough for her son to get a swipe in, knocking him a short distance away. His focus was now on the wayward band, his sharp teeth baring down at them. The half demon had regained his composure at this point but it didn’t look as if he was about to make it. Shit, was she?!
Her massive body transformed back into her humanoid form, using the momentum she had gained to propel her small body faster into the air. When she was close enough she transformed once more, clamping her powerful jaws around the back of his neck in attempts to subdue him. Sesshômaru, however, was tenacious. He twisted his body, slamming her into the ground but that did not make her let go, instead she bit a little firmer pulling a loud whimper from her sons muzzle. That didn’t last long as he tried another approach, bite her, but the angle she was in prevented his reach. He used his paws instead, his claws grazing her forehead. The acid he produced sizzled her fur, the pain shooting through her spine. This little runt! She hadn’t wanted to resort to using her poison but he gave her no choice. It would not kill him, she knew this, but he was going to be in a lot of pain.
A piercing howl penetrated the air as her toxic poison wormed its way into his system. He trashed, trying his best to wrench her off of him but nothing worked. When she finally got a firm hold she slammed his body into the earth, a large crater forming from the impact. His body stiffened and before she knew it he was transforming back into his humanoid form. Tired, she did the same only to be met with a small, confused and terrified mob.
“Who the fuck are you?” It was the half breed, sword firmly grasped in his hands. The men behind her readied themselves, so did the half breeds little pack. “Stand down,” she commanded, easing some tension, but not that of the half breed and his friends. “Answer the question woman.” Just like his father. She stared at the boy, realizing that it was her late mate’s fire rat robe he wore. He looked very much like him, but his mother's human features did show as well. “You and your father as so much alike,” she responded. That statement elicited a reaction she was expecting. “What do you know about my old man? And why the fuck do you two smell alike?” Eloquent indeed. Both her son and Ana’s description of her mates youngest was accurate to say the least. “I was his mate and Sesshômaru is my son,” she simply stated, no need to prolong the conversation. He relaxed after a small moment of thought, which caused his little pack to do the same. “What the fuck is wrong with your kid, we were both on good terms until he came out of nowhere and started attacking like a rabid dog.” Well that was a surprise, she hadn’t know that the two of them had somewhat worked out their differences. “Anastasia has been taken.”
“The fuck are you talking about? Ana has been with your son for the past several months. I’m pretty sure that is the most secure place on earth.” He wasn’t wrong, she could give him that. “It’s a long story.”
“I got time lady.”
“You may, but I do not.”
“Then give me the short version.” He didn’t ask but commanded, a rather Touga approach, again like his father. She would let this slide only once. Not in the mood to cause an uproar and quite frankly quickly getting a headache from the healing gash on her forehead she gave a quick summary of what happened, letting him know that it must have been Naraku who had taken Ana yet again. She feared for the girl. When she had first arrived at her castle doors; pale, lifeless and reeking of sexual fluids she knew. Knew enough to know that she had been defiled. How far it had gotten didn’t matter, the girl had been disrespected and that meant he disrespected her son. Now Naraku had a head start and she knew he would take her the first chance he got. A man like him would never let his prey get away twice if he could prevent that. If that was the case, she needed to find Ana before things got even more worse; because not even the sound of her voice would reach her son nor Ana's if Ana fell into that dark pit once more.
